I'd like to lose about a stone. So I'm going back to my old system of writing down everything I eat, to make myself more accountable and stop eating random unhealthy stuff that I forget about twenty minutes later. The next few months of cold will be featuring lots of soup, and herbal tea instead of hot chocolate. This method usually works for me, so I need to get back on it.

Well done to the Losers, and sincerely thank you to the Stayers and Gainers for their honesty and telling it how it is on a bad day. I overate Sunday night again, but from keeping a food diary I acknowledge and accept that it happens every Sunday after a long day getting my aged parents ready for the week ahead. I am down to just the 1 day overeating, I was fitting in another 1 or 2 bad days into a week. The more planned and balanced my food the easier it is - my indulgence on Sunday was dress bread and butter, too much, but a better choice than chocolate, cakes or biscuits. Best wishes to all and keep posting.

Ok so the wind came out of my sails - weighed myself Monday pm as usual and I've put on 11lb. Which doesn't seem likely (does it?). So now I'm doubting all my measurements.

Still. Best foot forward and all that. I'll start again. Next month. ie tomorrow !

CancellyMcChequeface · 31/01/2017 20:12

didireallysaythat That doesn't seem right at all! Could it be an issue with the battery in your scale? I know that when mine is running low it gives odd results sometimes.

After no loss last week (probably period-related, both water weight and cravings!) I lost 2lb this week. That's 11lb total. I also measured and I've lost 2.5in from my waist and almost 1.5in from my hips. Making me even more pear-shaped Hmm but at least it's in the right direction. I had only one cheat meal (curly fries!) and fit in more exercise than usual. I love my Zombies Run app - I actually look forward to my jogging days now so I can hear more of the story.

Good luck to everyone else for the next week!

TwatteryFlowers · 31/01/2017 20:14

Are you due on didi or have you had a lot of water/salt? Maybe check again after a couple of days eating properly just to make sure?

I'm the same Budgie. If I don't plan my meals or if for some reason we don't follow our plan I end up eating a load of rubbish. I try to even it out when that happens though so the damage is limited a bit!

TwatteryFlowers · 31/01/2017 20:16

Well done Cancelly that's an amazing loss Brew Star

didireallysaythat · 01/02/2017 19:33

Alas I can't blame the time of the month as I'm on the coil, and I put new batteries in on the 1st of January, and have spent less than a minute on them total so I think they are ok.

I'll weigh again next Monday. I don't like jumping on and off scales - it's easy to get fixated with numbers !

Twopeapods · 02/02/2017 13:17

Can I join? I have to lose weight in 2017. I've consistently gained over 5 years including two pregnancies, but after DD2 I weighed 12st 8lbs. Her 2nd birthday is on Saturday and I'm up to 15 stone Blush

I've manGed over the last week to get down to 14.11 and due period any day now so not hopeful for this week coming.

I have done zero exercise over the last few years so started doing aoribic DVD which I'm aiming 2/3 times weekly, and started walking more. And while I wait for kettle to boil I've been doing squats and lunges.
My back kills but hoping the exercise strengthens the muscles.

Holiday in May so would love 2stone off by then. I'm hoping it's doable.

JacquelineChan · 02/02/2017 13:24

Welcome Twopeas !

It's hard to find that initial push to start exercising so well done . Doing those bits at home is great because you can't all of a sudden commit to gym 3 times a week
If DD still likes the buggy its good to go for long walks and i hold my tummy in as tight as i can for count of ten , then repeat etc !.

2 stone by May is doable if you are on a healthy diet , for sure

JacquelineChan · 02/02/2017 13:27

my tummy bug has gone and the last couple of days i have just had toast , crackers , soup etc . belt feels looser today , so I am trying not to spoil it with my infamous persistent picking !

I did 5k on the bike and some stretching exercises this morning

walk to /from nursery later if it is not chucking it down.

DP messaged me saying he is cooking shezhuan prawns tonight so not too unhealthy

thesockgap · 02/02/2017 13:33

I have come down with the horrible cold that has gone round all my kids, have been feeling like death since Tuesday so whilst I haven't been sticking to my healthy diet, I also haven't been eating as much as it all tastes like cardboard :( But I'm not sure if I'll lose anything this week as when I do feel like eating, it's just stuff like egg and toast.

Twopeapods · 02/02/2017 14:32

Thanks Jacqueline

I was at doctors the other day and she told me the exercise was key, and I struggle with the kids to get out to the gym, so the DVD is perfect. I would like to start the couch potato to 5k, but would like a bit of weight off first.

And I went for a nice long walk with the toddler in buggy yesterday but it's a bit hit or miss wether she has the patience.

Everyone on here is doing amazing. I'm sure I'll have my off days but this thread is great encouragement.

JacquelineChan · 02/02/2017 14:52

sock gap get well soon xx

Two peas you can do it ! About 3 weeks in we all hit a wall because we felt disheartened , but we encouraged each other to keep going

TwatteryFlowers · 02/02/2017 18:33

Illness is a bugger. Hope you get well soon. Peapods when you have big amounts to lose it seems unachievable and almost too difficult to even contemplate but in my experience it's easier and faster when you're bigger and then slows down to almost nothing as you near your goal. I'm sure you'll easily lose 2st if you stick at it.

I've had a shit day today - playground duty meant I had no break, marking books at lunch meant that I had no time for dinner, the school I was at finished really late so by the time all the children had gone it was 4pm and I still had more books to mark. I've had pencils thrown at me and been shouted and sworn at. The school were really supportive and said the class were better behaved and more calm with me than with other supply teachers but I still felt totally useless. I didn't leave until nearly 5pm and all I've had to eat was a flapjack and my breakfast smoothie. I've had nothing at all to drink apart from a few sips of tea when I eventually got home. I had no sleep last night either.

We have nothing in for a quick tea and I have to go to Tesco in a bit once the dc are in bed too to get the veg needed for our planned meal. I'm starving and tired and grumpy! I'm tempted to say fuck it and just go to bed!

JacquelineChan · 03/02/2017 09:45

Twattery that sucks .

At least it is friday today !

TwatteryFlowers · 03/02/2017 14:55

Yay Friday! I only had half a day today too Grin
I ended up going to bed at 8pm yesterday and had no tea either. I think I only had about 600 calories altogether too.
Going to weigh in on Monday, hopefully this week I'll have lost some after last week's gain.

KitKat1985 · 04/02/2017 09:53

Welcome TwoPeaPods. I'm also losing baby weight from 3 month old DD2 so I feel your pain.

Hope you feel better soon TheSockGap.

Sorry to hear you had such a rough day yesterday Twattery. At least it's the weekend now.

Unexpectedly good weigh-in today. I've done pretty much no exercise all week as it's been drizzling down here pretty much all week so not really fair to take the DDs out for long walks. I have been pretty good with what I've been eating though. The scales this morning showed a pound and three-quarter loss this week, so that's better than I thought!

My first goal was to lose half a stone by DH's birthday (next Saturday) but this weeks loss means I've hit that target a week early so I'm chuffed. Smile

Next goal is to lose another half a stone (so a total one stone loss) by the end of March.

HandsomeDevil · 04/02/2017 10:01

Morning all. I'm struggling here too. No illness, just a distinct lack of willpower.

One of the DC had an evening concert this week, which gave us about seven minutes in between getting in from work/school, and having to be out again until 9.30pm. Cue KFC Bargain Bucket on the way to the concert. And the DC had friends round yesterday, so I finished off the leftover pizza, ice-cream and jelly beans.

I'm just back from 5k round the park in penance though.

HandsomeDevil · 04/02/2017 10:03

Congratulations KitKat! Half a stone is ace.
I'm not expecting to lose this week, but if I can avoid gaining I'll be pleased.

JacquelineChan · 04/02/2017 13:56

Kit kat that's ace !
My dc is 3 YEARS old next week and I am still trying to lose the baby weight lol
My dry January is over I'm going out to a bar with a friend later. I tried on a dress I bought before I got pregnant with ds and never been able to wear. Omg the muffin tops over my tights have disappeared yay !!!!
Haven't weighed myself for 2 weeks but happy with the flab loss

JacquelineChan · 04/02/2017 13:59

Handsome what is it with the kid's leftovers? I'm sure they taste more delicious than if you were just to cook the same for yourself! It's been really hard for me to break that habit.
Well done on the 5k run that's fab

TwatteryFlowers · 04/02/2017 22:11

I've never been one to pick at leftovers - there's something I don't like about hot food gone cold and manky!

I did really well today until we went out and had fish and chips and a chocolate egg!

Well done on your loss kitkat, that's ace going!

InteriorLulu · 05/02/2017 17:01

Sorry I've not popped in since the beginning of the week, but have had a quick skim read of the thread.

Good to see you're feeling better now JacquelineChan. How's the writing it down thing going?

Kitkat Great job on the weight loss Smile

Twattery Sorry you had a rubbish day Thursday. Doesn't help, does it? Hope your weigh in goes OK tomorrow.

I weighed on Monday and found I'd gained a pound. Hardly surprising to be honest. This week's been rubbish too, although at least I've been writing it down. All of it. It's been useful as I've identified trigger times and foods. Just need to be organised enough to get strategies in place to tackle it. Weighing again tomorrow. Probably be a stay the same. Hoping I won't get a gain.

JacquelineChan · 05/02/2017 21:06

Hi Lulu
It has been working , I have snacked much less and noticed positive changes. I have not written down anything today as I'm hungover and pre menstrual so giving myself the day off.
That pound gain could be anything even excess water please don't feel too disheartened. I weigh myself as little as possible for this reason. I'm using my clothes to judge the loss of flab.

GreenBudgie · 06/02/2017 06:40

Twopeas Google "body weight back extension". Do them everyday for 2 weeks and see if they help your back. All you do it lie flat on your tummy on the floor and raise your upper torso up - as you are working without weights they help strengthen muscles without hurting a poorly back.

HandsomeDevil · 06/02/2017 08:10

Morning losers.

I have lost DIDDLY SQUAT this week. To be fair I'm not surprised at all, as I've totally taken my eye off the ball and have been snacking like a demon. I hope this is the kick up the (enormous) arse that I need.

Start weight 12st 4lb
This week's loss 0lb
total loss 7lb
