Just got back from holiday this morning and while I feel like I've stayed the same or even lost a bit ( I don't weigh myself as I don't want reasons to celebrate or commiserate) I want to continue with the healthy eating I did while there

I was pretty careful . Limited myself to one treat a day, a gluten free cake , ice cream lolly with chocolate and nuts around.

I never bought any chocolate ( unusual for me). Very few potatoes. I found veg and protein was enough in that heat.
Not a big drinker. A gin and tonic for me is a tonic with a splash of gin a couple of times a day and we walked for miles.

So....I have a wedding coming up next year and I have four lovely dresses to choose from. Two I got married in ( knee length rather than bridal). One champagne, other a kindd of French beige. I can get them zipped but can't breathe in them.

Then I have a pale green and a pale pink. They are unworn as they were new last year and I couldn't wear them as I'd put some weight on.

So...my plan is to practice healthy eating and intermittent fasting till Christmas.

My usual breakfast omelette but this time allowing more than 13 hours of fasting between dinner the night before and breakfast. Green soup. Today's looked putrid but tasted fine. It was a rich dark blue green as a teaspoon of spirulina went in as well. Plus a few cashews and a bit of feta

Tonight will be homemade turkey curry. Eaten by 7 to allow for the fast.

I don't want to go back to chocolate or crisps when I snack.
It's going to be painful as Im Already gluten and mostly dairy free, so I can only cut back on sugary snacks and it's so much cooler here so I want to eat.

I'm also going to look into mindful eating.

Anyone with me till Christmas.

Then it will be a couple of days off. Then back on till our next break in march where I'll have to watch myself for the wedding in may.

I like to have a goal.

Still carrying some weight from the weekend. Out tonight, so will have to maintain will of iron.

RonBurgundysMoustache · 08/12/2016 10:35

Morning ladies

Hope we are all ok?

Tractors sure that pesky pound will be gone soon!

Horace well done on being so close to target! You are doing so well

Brill you can do this, just keep in mind the outfit you want to wear xmas and how fab you will feel in it!

It's TOTM for me, so scales are not playing fair at the moment, I'm hoping they will go back down in a few days!

Dowser · 08/12/2016 11:49

And we've landed.
At the airport I was so tempted with 3 large dark toblerone for a tenner. I even held a bar in my sweaty grasp before putting it back again. Phew, it was a close call.

Had a meal last night. Too tired to eat much. So no damage done yesterday.
If I don't buy chocolate I can't eat it. Right?

Everyone doing so well . Great news

Gluten? Horace.
To some people it can really be detrimental stuff.

Especially if it was an overload of the stuff and don't forget how sugar speeds things up too.
Glad you managed to pull yourself back from it.
My gp told me it takes 5 days to get something detrimental out of your system.

I'm doing ok here. Having just one sweet treat a day. Yesterday was a chocolate and almond type magnum. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Day before a dark chocolate florentine type biscuit. It's huge. Not like the little ones seen in packets at home.
I'm not buying any dark chocolate. There's too much temptation in the restaurants.
I'm hoping to limit the damage as because it's warmer than the uk were moving around more.

Horrace - they weren't from Aldi, by any chance? A friend of mine has a very similar reaction to a specific type of Christmas biscuit from there. How strange, but good for you not to give it headspace.

I had a good day yesterday, and had an entirely sober night out last night - drinking water all night is so cheap! Grin Glad I did it though - everyone round me was utterly hammered, and while I still had fun, I was quite glad to be home by half 12, rather than 4am like the rest of them Smile. (Mostly because I still haven't finished buying presents Blush)

Horrace - yep, sounds like exactly the same thing as my friend gets. If it helps, she's never had that reaction with anything else, and can only attribute it to that specific mix of sugar/spices/preservatives/what else in those biscuits. Not very helpful, I know, but maybe a bit of comfort for you to know it has happened to people other than yourself! I've had struggles with my mental health in the past, and know how isolating it can feel. Do something nice for yourself today, sounds like you gave yourself a bit of a fright, after being well for so long.

And yes, there is a stream of 'whyyyyy....' messages appearing on my phone from various hungover people - I feel very smug Grin

Dowser · 11/12/2016 12:18

Thank you Horace. Now is a lovely time to come to Tenerife. Fairly quiet, still quite warm. Yesterday was lovely . Two hours of extra daylight.

We need it . I slept till 10-30 this morning. Utter bliss. I also have had two deep massages from my lovely russsian therapist.
He mentioned on our first visit curcuma or turmeric. I've been taking turmeric pills for ages. Have they done any good I don't know.

So we are in a health shop that has the root on sale. A bit like ginger only smaller and more orange. It's supposed to be good for infection.

So we bought a bag full for ourselves and one for him and his wife.

So, ladies, I'm now having to get used to onion and turmeric omelette . It's a bit of an acquired taste I can tell you. In fact dh has been so bold to pepper the omelettes with little chunks of it....it has a weird earthy taste. Still, if we want to be healthy in our late 60s/70s....

No wonder I enjoyed chocolate so much...and he needn't think he's slipping chunks of it in there. (I can just imagine him melting my chocolate and then adding it in...aargh! No way.)

So I had no treat yesterday and we walked home probably about 2 Kms last night.

Last night My flambeed chicken was tough as an old pot boiler . Veggies were tasteless. I've gone off potatoes and chips and canary potatoes. So I ate very little. I gave most of my chicken to my husband who will eat anything.

On the plus side, I had a lovely tuna salad overlooking the surfers at the beach yesterday. There was everything on it, tuna, egg, mayonnaise, sweet corn, asparagus, olives, tomato, cucumber, lettuce, and some form of pickled peppers. Very nice. Might do that again today.

I'm glad I'm not in an all inclusive. I would definitely over eat if the food was nice.
Good luck with today ladies. It was lovely wearing a nice white dress last night and feeling nice in it.

That sounds lovely Dowser, glad you're having a lovely time! I'm too pale-skinned to enjoy the sun, so perhaps once the DCs are away, me and DH will take a winter break too Smile

I've lost that 1lb I put on, so I'm happy, and even if I put on a couple over Christmas, I know I can follow this low-carb life happily, and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future into the New Year. Really pleased in my change in mindset Grin

Dowser · 11/12/2016 22:14

Well....I've just been invited to a really posh wedding.

I've never been to a really posh wedding so I'm very excited. I won't say where it is except it's a big country house and the wedding budget made my eyes water.... three times over.

So never mind countdown to Christmas...it's countdown to big blow out wedding.
We are the kind of people who get invited to a wedding once in a blue moon...the last one was our own...15 months ago.
Trouble is ..we are at a wedding the week before...talk about killing two birds with one stone.

You couldn't make it up!

So the dresses I tried on 6 weeks ago are strong contenders...and there'll be no let up after xmas...despite a big, fat huge birthday of mine.

On our way to a hotel to watch the cabaret we wondered into a supermarket...so I could look at the chocolate.
That's sad isn't it?

No sweet treats for two days..( I'm not counting small gins and tonic) and next to no carbs.

I'm almost getting into a sweat over my turmeric omelette!

Weddings are May and June literally 11 days apart.

I'm feeling really rough. Food was going well but met with friends last night. Eating way too late for us , so stomach too full and then slept badly.

Supposed to be doing it again tonight but just can't face it.
That's not what I want from my holiday.

Besides, I want to be on form for Christmas not all bloated out and poorly.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 14/12/2016 18:49

I'm down another 1lb, hooray! Smile

Hope you're feeling better today Dowser and enjoying the rest of your holiday!

Well done on avoiding the mince pies Horrace - DH eats ours as soon as they're over the doorstep, so no chance for anyone else Grin

Hi ladies

Sorry for being awol have had a busy few days!

Dowser that for the posh wedding! I love a good wedding! Hope you are having a lovely time on hols

Tractors well done for another pound! You are doing so well.. by xmas I bet you notice a real difference in your clothes!

Horace sorry to hear about your biscuit incident, def stay away from those in the future, that's a seriously bad reaction to them! And hope you are feeling better today and back in the swing of things!

Brill hope you are ok?

It's weigh day tomorrow for me am hoping I have lost another pound but have had a few naughty days (birthdays and xmas meals) so I can't be too disappointed if I remain the same... Hmm

RonBurgundysMoustache · 16/12/2016 09:15

Morning ladies

Hope we are all well?

Another pound down for me this morning so only 2lb to target and 9days to do it.. I will be seriously pissed if I don't make it! 😄

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 16/12/2016 14:41

Well done Ron! Grin

I'm down a total of 12.5lbs - and whilst I feel less bloated, I don't think there has been too much difference in my clothes....yet!

I've not been as strict with myself recently as I probably should have been, but I think I'm in a good place to up the ante in January and we'll see how those clothes feel in a few more months Smile

RonBurgundysMoustache · 16/12/2016 17:33

Tractors that's a good way to look at it.. im starting to be a bit more lenient now too with so many meals and things happening but I will continue to calorie count through Jan and see where I end up.. me and my hubby are going away for a week in may just the two of us all inclusive for a week so I have that to aim towards and then a big family holiday in august so hopefully I will be in the right frame of mind to keep this going!

And I also have the added incentive of being referred to a surgeon to see if I qualify for breast reduction surgery and one of the main criteria for that is having a bmi of 26 or under and mine is now 24 so I have to stay on top of it or I won't even be considered! Hmm and horace I followed your lead and measured my waist today it's 27" I don't think it's been that since I was about 19! Hooray 😁

Just all my good intentions have flown out of the window by lunchtime.

But thanks for asking ....

Don't be too disheartened Dowser - you can't have undone all of your hard work in one day!

I've been good today - but going to treat myself to some mulled wine later. There's fruit in it, so it's very healthy so says me Grin

Just have a really big pee Horrace Grin - 300g isn't very much at all, but can understand you feeling a bit nervy as it's been a while! Dress looks great, you've got a fab figure. Much inspiration for lard-belly me Grin
