The No S Diet [title edited by MNHQ]

I've decided that I finally need to commit to losing my baby weight. I have 2 stone (ideally more to lose). But will just take it half a stone at a time. I am not really into crazy diets. So I've gone for the 's' diet which is basically eat sensibly diet! No snacks, seconds or 'sweets' (includes cakes etc ) except on days beginning with s (weekends and special days). So three meals a day basically. Does anyone want to join me or be my supporter? I lost 1.5 lb the first week, but then gained 0.3. Next weigh in is Monday and today I was 2.5lb lighter so I'm hoping I will have lost something. I am piling up a bit on the meals but figure that I need that to stick to it at the moment. Hopefully as I adjust I can make the meals smaller/healthier too. Looking forward to the weekend for a pudding and some wine!

Any time you've been a great help to me often Smile
I'm getting there slowly but surely it's going to be a big job !

AristonAndOn · 26/02/2017 20:46

I'll come in with my ((hugs)) again Posie. I found half term unsettling also. I hope you feel better this week, I'm sure it's when you feel more in control you feel better. I like routine.

PosiePootlePerkins · 26/02/2017 21:11

Thanks Ariston. Much appreciated. I have really blown it today. Scary how that version of me is still there just beneath the surface. I don't like that version very much. Will focus on all the positives and just get back on it tomorrow.
Hope everyone else has had a good weekend Smile

beela · 26/02/2017 21:55

Hi posie. Don't worry. Tomorrow is a new day.

PosiePootlePerkins · 26/02/2017 22:26

Thanks beela. Flowers to you all for all the support this evening.

AristonAndOn · 27/02/2017 09:08

Good luck to everyone this week. 😀😀😀

Nan0second · 27/02/2017 12:09

Back on it today after a very excessive weekend.
Trying to "mark it and move on"...
Have lost half a stone ish now in 2 months. Have a stone still to lose so I need to not lose my way now.
We are about to have the kitchen redone so that will be a challenge!

joannegrady90 · 27/02/2017 12:11

I need to join!

I'm 4 stone overweight Blush

Ideally would like to lose 6!

AristonAndOn · 27/02/2017 13:32

Don't worry Joanne. I had 7 to lose and over 2 stone gone already, so it can be done. 👍🏼👍🏼

joannegrady90 · 27/02/2017 13:43

Wow that's amazing ! I think when the first stones gone I'll feel more confident and able!

PosiePootlePerkins · 27/02/2017 16:21

Welcome joanne I hope NoS suits you. Any questions just ask, we're a friendly supportive lot!
After much thought (and kicking myself up the bum!) I have decided I need to cut out snacks at the weekend. I am undoing all of my hard work in the week by going crazy at the weekends. I will allow myself seconds if I want it, and also something sweet if its straight after my main course. I think that way I will feel that I'm staying in control.
(Joanne and any other newbies** I would advise against any mods in the early days, just get the habits sorted for a good while first. I've been doing this since October and although I've made good progress its time to make some changes at the weekendsSmile)

twofloorsup · 27/02/2017 19:49

Good advice Posie Smile

I've gone and crumpled one quarter of my newish car today am absolutely gutted and so cross with myself as it was a stupid mistake.

However ...
It's just occurred to me that it never occurred to me to eat it better. Woo hoo progress indeed Smile

PosiePootlePerkins · 27/02/2017 21:31

Oh no twofloorsup poor youFlowers Definitely a huge achievement to not turn to food though, well done. I hope you get it sorted, that's not what you need right now with your move coming up.

twofloorsup · 27/02/2017 21:41

I know the timing couldn't be worse !
Absolutely gutted but the insurance will cover it. I've been so careful with it I'm kicking myself .

AristonAndOn · 27/02/2017 22:29

I hope it gets sorted soon two. Well done on the not eating!!

GohomeRoger · 27/02/2017 22:46

Sorry to hear about the car twofloorsup, major victory over not eating your feelings though!

My first No S weekend went well, I snacked, but I didn't go mad, I surprised myself! Sadly I've just completely blown it by eating a tub of hummus and half a bag of tortilla chips. Why did I do that? Evenings are my nemesis Angry

twofloorsup · 28/02/2017 05:58

Thanks everyone.
Hope you all have a good day.

beela · 28/02/2017 10:13

GohomeRoger sounds like you did well during the day though yesterday?

I really struggle in the early evening. Often DH and I don't get to eat until 8.00 or 8.30, by the time we've put DC to bed etc, so on the days I get in from work at 6, havng had lunch at 12.30ish, it's very hard to get through to a proper meal without snacking. I find evenings ok on the days we all manage to eat together at around 5.30.

Today I have already failed because DD insisted that I eat three of her smarties (she only had about 10, bless her) and I didn't have the heart to refuse! But I think that's ok, I am at peace with that particular eating decision!!

I have decided. I am DEFINITELY giving up alcohol for lent. I know a glass of wine is fine on no-s, but it is still calories that I don't need, so I want to break the habit. I think I'm going to get one of those bottles that you put fruit and water in so that the water is a little bit flavoured but not full of sugar. And different herbal teas (it's going to be so rock & roll in my house!).

twofloorsup · 28/02/2017 14:13

I'm still trying to decide what to give up for lent but nothing stands out to me.

Way to go Beela Smile

AristonAndOn · 01/03/2017 16:16

My fil decides to comment on my very healthy lunch today. It was big yes, but all good. "Ha ha I don't eat that much for lunch" I told him it's rude to comment on people's food. 😡

twofloorsup · 01/03/2017 16:45

I'd have said " No old people don't generally need to eat as much" Grin

beela · 01/03/2017 17:07

He sounds like a real charmer!

I've had a stressful day which included my stepfather being carted off to hospital in an ambulance. So when I (finally! - 2 yo on foot, buggy refusal) got dc home from school I joined them in a snack. I had half a piece of homemade tea loaf and a cup of tea with caffeine (I rarely drink caffeine). Anyway. I feel miles better now.

Perhaps it wasn't ideal because I was dealing with being stressed and tired by eating. But I feel ok about it because I made a choice to have a small snack and I sat down and ate it off a plate, whereas in the past I would have just shoved a Mars bar in my face!

beela · 01/03/2017 17:13

Eek just realised that's my second post about breaking the rules and being ok with it! Maybe I need to stop justifying myself (part of what got me 2 stone overweight in the first place) and start following the rules properly.

PosiePootlePerkins · 01/03/2017 17:55

Ariston your FIL sounds awful! What business is it of his what you eat? You've done so well and your weight loss must be starting to show now, perhaps he doesn't like it.... Anyway you ignore him and keep doing what you're doing because it is working!
Beela don't be too hard on yourself. It sounds like snacks are the hardest S habit for you to break? Maybe ask yourself if you could do anything differently to avoid a snack? Hot drink, glass of milk, something to take your mind off it? I know its so hard when you're tired/fed up.
I am doing OK, feeling very determined that my no snacks at the weekends mod will work.

PosiePootlePerkins · 01/03/2017 17:56

And sorry to hear about your stepfather beela I hope he's OKFlowers
