The No S Diet [title edited by MNHQ]

I've decided that I finally need to commit to losing my baby weight. I have 2 stone (ideally more to lose). But will just take it half a stone at a time. I am not really into crazy diets. So I've gone for the 's' diet which is basically eat sensibly diet! No snacks, seconds or 'sweets' (includes cakes etc ) except on days beginning with s (weekends and special days). So three meals a day basically. Does anyone want to join me or be my supporter? I lost 1.5 lb the first week, but then gained 0.3. Next weigh in is Monday and today I was 2.5lb lighter so I'm hoping I will have lost something. I am piling up a bit on the meals but figure that I need that to stick to it at the moment. Hopefully as I adjust I can make the meals smaller/healthier too. Looking forward to the weekend for a pudding and some wine!

We both had a crap day today so irritatingly had pizza!!! Not a good start and irritated in ruined my week but going to try and draw a line carry on being good tomorrow.
I'm so bad for emotional eating & boredom eating!!!
I'm not calorie counting as such but using MFP to track my food to see where I'm going wrong and over a day my snacks are about 500 calories!!!!! So I know if I knock those I'll see results!!

Asuitablemum · 22/09/2016 22:01

Pizza is fine with the no s diet! I had extra after my meal so broke the no seconds rule. So easy to say 'well I could have put more on my plate first time round!'. Also had coffee this afternoon, not really sure if that counts! But I did get out for a run today so that's good. Only one more day till an s day!! Going to be really good tomorrow. Really want a good weigh in on Monday.

I'm a bit rubbish with recipes but one easy meal I like is fajitas. I do chicken with fajita seasoning, onion fried with a bit of oil, then add mushrooms, green pepper, yellow pepper and red pepper and a chopped tomato. So lots of veg. The. You could eat it as it is. But I have it in tortilla with Philadelphia light, sometimes avocado and salsa and maybe grated cheddar. Cut the cheddar and the avocado for low fat. You can add black beans too. One of my all time favourites!!

Well done for going for a run! I get really embarrassed exercising in public. We ordered some boxing gloves and pads from eBay £16.99 and have been doing boxercise with the hubby it's quite fun and good exercise. X

timeforabrewnow · 26/09/2016 09:00

Anyone weighed in yet?

Sad Zero loss for me.

But hadn't really been giving it my full attention all week and had 2 nights that included wine. Plus last included a kitkat chunky and a bowl of cereal After supper plus 2 fig rolls

Hey ho - more effort required to do this thing - I only want to lose 4 lbs before Xmas.

JasperDamerel · 26/09/2016 09:12

Pizza is fine, coffee is fine as long as it's actually coffee and not hot milk with syrup and a shot of coffee. You don't need to eat low fat or low carb. As long as it fits on your plate, it's not full of sugar and it's a meal-time, you can eat it.

I found with pizza that after a while I started having half my usual portion with salad, and then having the other half for lunch (or breakfast) the next day.

And weight loss this way is slow and probably won't get to a BMI towards the bottom of your healthy range - it's not a good diet for anyone who wants to drop that last half stone. But it is excellent for people who want to get within their healthy BMI range without getting messed-up eating habits.

Asuitablemum · 26/09/2016 12:36

I lost a whopping 0.2 of a pound whoop! But I'm going to stay on track this week as I've lost over 3 pounds in the last month. Didn't have a brilliant weekend with wine and cake involved more than once. But I've been very active and hopefully I'll lose more this week.

I am so pleased I have found this thread, I would love to join you if thats OK. I could go on and on about my issues with food and my endless yoyo dieting, but in a nutshell I have a crap relationship with food and I just want to learn how to eat sensibly, like a normal person! I have been looking into the no S diet and it seems to make so much sense.
I'm 41 and currently weigh 13 stone 5lbBlush and I am very uncomfortable. I am happy for the weight to come off slowly, I am so done with crash diets. 11 stone would be a good realistic weight for me but seems a long way off.
I aim to start on Monday so will check in again.

Frestelli · 30/09/2016 23:10

I absolutely love this idea, I'm currently poring over the link, cheers Trippy . Makes so much sense, it's ridiculous. Blush

I'll join you! I've decided to get proactive and join a couple of threads so I'm over at the lose 7lbs for October too! Will see how this pans out.

12st13lbs, 34 yo, breastfeeding SNACKER. lol

PosiePootlePerkins · 01/10/2016 07:04

Hi Frestelli I have downloaded the Kindle book, everything in there seems to make complete sense to me. I need to do this! Having only just started, I am going to follow the plan over this weekend and into next week to give it a good start, then have my S days next weekend. Good luck!

Frestelli · 02/10/2016 17:24

Hi Posie I am now a convert! Even asked my DH to buy me a sledgehammer this weekend, Grin he was like Hmm Grin

I think Reinhard is absolutely hilarious and the way he is rebelling against the 'diet industry' and refusing to go corporate is admirable. Cool guy.

Having a great weekend. Something has CLICKED!!!!!

Actually looking forward to meals and making the most of what I have on my plate. Feeling really positive.

PosiePootlePerkins · 02/10/2016 17:39

Lol at the sledgehammer, I'm not that much of a convert.....yet!
It really does seem to be a sensible way of eating. No weighing anything, counting anything, cutting out major food groups, agonising over every mouthful, I've been there and done that, lost weight and put it all back on again. Enough!
I have found it an eye opener not snacking in between meals, I never realised how often I put something in my mouth until I tried not toBlush Every diet I have ever been on has encouraged snacking in some way shape or form. Be it fruit, carrots, nuts, cheese etc. No one has ever said 'Just stop snacking. Its ok to be a bit hungry!'
Anyway sorry for the essay, but I do feel this may just help me once and for all to have a normal relationship with food. Good luck and I'll be back to update!

SleepFreeZone · 02/10/2016 17:53

I'm doing WW and the main changes in made is MUCH smaller portions. 1 stone down so far, 1 stone to go.

UpOnDown · 02/10/2016 19:59

I'm calorie counting using MFP, I've been doing 1000 kcal for over a year now(!)

PosiePootlePerkins · 02/10/2016 21:38

With all due respect, the No S diet is the complete opposite of calorie counting/Weight Watchers, or any other diet plan which involves counting, weighing, or cutting out food groups. I am doing this to move right away from destructive yoyo dieting. And I have no interest whatsoever in restricting myself to 1000 calories a day, that is a completely miserable way to live.
Not really sure why the two PPs have posted on this thread Hmm

UpOnDown · 02/10/2016 21:53

I posted on the wrong thread Hmm

PosiePootlePerkins · 02/10/2016 22:03

Oh Ok sorry for rant! Smile

SleepFreeZone · 03/10/2016 07:51

Sorry. I thought this was just a group for people who wanted to lose weight. No offence intended!

Frestelli · 03/10/2016 09:46

Hopped on the scale this morning....12st 10!
On Saturday I weighed myself and I was 12st 8 and i was a bit Hmm but last week I was 12st 13 so there's obviously a bit of fluctuation going on. Fluid perhaps?
Anyway I'm getting further away from 13st so I'm very, very happy!
3 weetabix, 1 large banana and semi skimmed milk for breakfast. Going to go to the supermarket and plan some delicious meals for rest of week today.

JasperDamerel · 03/10/2016 10:41

The weekend was very much a couple of S days as it was DS's birthday party and then actual birthday. Even junk-food junkie DD said last night that she just wanted to eat something simple and vegetable based.

Breakfast this morning was sourdough breast toast and butter with a mug of hot chocolate. No added sugar, just cocoa powder and full fat milk.

Lunch will probably be vegetable soup, with maybe some bread, cheese or salad depending on what I want most. And dinner will be roast chicken with swede and carrot mash and stir-fried greens.

Frestelli · 03/10/2016 11:16

Oh bloody hell, Jasper, dinner sounds good! Envy
I'm just feeding myself and the babe tonight as eldest is eating at a friend's and DH is playing football so sorts himself out. Roast chicken is happening this week though now thanks! Grin

PosiePootlePerkins · 03/10/2016 12:28

I am starting my first full No S week, its OK when I am at work as no temptation to snack (unless someone brings in cakeAngry), I think inbetween lunch and dinner will be hardest. I get grumpy when I'm hungry!
Very committed to doing this though.

Asuitablemum · 03/10/2016 13:46

Welcome newcomers! I continued this week but there was a bit more cheating! I need to get back 100% behind no snacking or seconds this week. And also continue on Friday night, which always feels like it should be an s! I weighed in today and lost only 0.8 of a pound. It would be great to lose 2 next week! Great to have this thread for motivations. Anyone else weighed in?

PosiePootlePerkins · 04/10/2016 06:31

I have joined the online forum for No S, I am logging in there everyday this month on the October Challenge to keep me motivated. Its a good place for general discussion about the diet.

JasperDamerel · 04/10/2016 08:10

I joined a while ago, but drifted off.

I think that today will be an S for sick day, as I'm in the early stages of a migraine and I know that full-sugar coke with painkillers will keep it manageable. But I'll do the moderate no-S thing and get one of those small cans so that I get enough for the medicinal effect but no more.
