I think the general agreement was that we wouldn't weigh this week, but I thought we ought to start a new thread anyway.

So here it is

its a wonderful essay tho! what a wonderful philosophy

meb2006 · 02/01/2007 16:51

many thanks for taking the time to do this - it sounds great. If you don't mind I should like to join - can I do this even if I decide to do something really drastic like Cambrodge diet/Lighter Life? I am thinking of trying to do this to start but am also ttc so if (please God) I do get pregnant I will need to stop such a drastic diet (as you can't do this if you are pregnant) and do something more slowly. P.S I have over 5 stone to lose!

WigWamBam · 02/01/2007 17:04

Of course you can ... slow and steady is the way that most of us have decided to do it, but there's plenty of support here whatever you decide.

Good news about your appointment, Dot. And also good news about your cat, Junk.

I know that I've put on a few pounds over the past few weeks but thanks to the MoFo's I'm sure I can lose it again too. Happy New Year, everyone.

colditz · 02/01/2007 22:28

Can I join? I am a big MOFO, definately. I tried o do the 10 pieces of fruit thing, but got a poorly tum.

What are the entry requirements?

WigWamBam · 02/01/2007 22:35

None really ... apart from being large of girth and pendulous of nork, which definitely goes with the territory

These threads are about attitude as much as anything: some of us were cheesed off with threads full of 7 stone people posting about being bloaters, and being hard on themselves because they needed to lose 4lb. We just wanted a place where people understood how large people feel, and where we could feel supported in a way that those 7 stone people couldn't manage to support us. Most of us have more than 5 stone to lose, but there are a few who are smaller but who found that the ethos of the threads suited them.

We're all doing our own thing rather than following a particular diet, the threads are more for support and motivation than anything else really. We do a weekly weigh-in for those who want it, but not all of us weigh in. Some just follow the thread for support, whichever you would feel more comfortable doing. It's all pretty free and easy but it seems to work. Weigh-in day has changed to Thursday, you can send me a starting weight if you want (which is purely between you, me and the fence post) or just send weekly losses - or not even bother with the weigh-in at all, if you prefer.

We only have one or two rules: No beating yourself up (we will do that for you if necessary). Each week is a new week and you leave last week?s problems behind. No pedantic grammar corrections (unless what you typed really doesn?t make sense) we are quite smart and will work out what you mean.

OP posts:
colditz · 02/01/2007 22:42

Ok. Thank you WWB

I will add my sttistics in. I am glad this isn't a pedantic thread, because my A button doesn't always work.

ok. Here goes.

Female
26 years old
14 stone at least, approx. Will weigh myself weekly at Boots.
5 foot 3, so deffo 5 stone overweighht
Eat when feeling bored, lonely, sad, angry.

Am trying to eat healthily and count calories, but wish I had more sticking power. I don't lack willpower, I quit smoking after 10 years, but I cn't seem to stick to a diet. I do not like friggin apples.

colditz · 02/01/2007 22:43

Norks are quite pendulous, but not too bad, thanks to Playtex

WigWamBam · 02/01/2007 22:47

You don't have to eat apples (which is probably a good thing, as your A key sticks ...)

The eating when bored/lonely/sad thing is a recurring theme here - it's almost like self-medicating. I've been using the threads to try and work out why I eat that way, and I actually think that it's helping. I'm still 10 stone+ overweight, but it's shifting slowly.

It's good old Doreen bra that does it for me ... without it they'd be scraping the floor and shining my shoes.

OP posts:
colditz · 02/01/2007 22:58

It's like a default thing, i et when they kids go to bed, it's like I sit and have another mel. It's bad, I don't need tht food, but it's habit. I don't kknow why I eat it. It's certainly not hunger.

I'm not hungry now, but I have a strong urge to eat, because I'm talking about my feelings.

It's so weird

flutterbee · 02/01/2007 23:49

WWB - you forgot the £25 up front payment to every existing member from new wannabe members.

This time next year we'll be millionaires!!!!!

MwhahahahahaMwhahahahah (that's my evil laugh that is)

junkinmytrunk · 03/01/2007 09:51

I'm trying to occupy my time as much as possible with a hobby in the evenings. I've beem knitting recently and made my 2 dds a hat each.
But dd1 has had a new coat so need to do another one for her to match her new coat..the distraction works as long as i don't think about food!

Felt really crap last night and now I know why....af arrived and now feel even more crap ass haven't had one since march when I had contraceptive implant in so it cme as a bit of a shock.

Think today will be a struggle

But morning everyone!

junkinmytrunk · 03/01/2007 09:53

ps the s key on my keyboard is hyper sensitive so forgive extra s' everywhere!

Radley · 03/01/2007 10:01

Morning ladies,

So far I am doing well, this is my third day and I'm still feeling very very positive. Last night however was very hard, I was very very hungry and had no points left (until I get into the swing of things, I'm not banking any points), dh came in from being out ALL day drinking and proceeded to eat a KFC and 2 bars of chocolate in front of me, but, I did not give in, I just sat drinking water.

I've just had my brekkie of 4 x slices toast with margarine and peanut butter yum. Sounds alot, but, because I have a substantial amount to lose it isn't alot in the way of points.

Yesterday I did fab, I had 7 portions of fruit and veg which I am very proud of, but, will admit that I tend to struggle greatly with the fruit and veg.

Not going out today as I'm going to take down the christmas decorations and get the house in order, but, tomorrow the kids and I are going to walk into town to get some stuff I need for my favourite weightwatchers recipe.

Oh, and I've had no alcohol since New Years Eve, which is good for me, as I usually have 2 bottles of red wine a night.

Who do I weigh into please?

schneebly · 03/01/2007 10:10

Mighty me - it's getting awffy busy on here! Hello to all the new MoFo's! I have been an on again off again poster on here but am sticknig with it this time - 2007 is the last year I am going to be obese and unhealthy. I am attempting to be conscious about what and when I am eating rather than just eating all the time on autopilot and I have just ordered a swimming costume! Best of luck to you all!

Radley - you sound like you are doing well! You send your weights to WigWamBam at [email protected].

JackieNo · 03/01/2007 10:19

Hi all - sounds as if everyone's doing well.

Radley - well done on resisting when your DH was eating all that stuff in front of you.

Don't forget, weigh-in day has now changed to Thursdays.

agalch · 03/01/2007 10:29

Well had my last peanuts and martini last night.Have binned leftover mince-pies,and cake and all the other treats too as i cannot trust myself.Ds1(stroppy 15 yr old) is stressing me out so have to be calm as thats one of my triggers to overeat.

Have had my porridge this morning so been good so far.having large salad for lunch but dunno about dinner yet.

btw do any of you do scottish slimmers?

Radley · 03/01/2007 11:34

Well, I've just made my favourite ww recipe - classic quiche, and it is in the oven and can cool down for dinner tonight. There is only me that likes it, but, it is meant to feed four, it makes two meals for me, 7 points for half a quiche and a massive salad isn't bad. Depending how hungry I am, I may even add a jacket potato.

JackieNo · 03/01/2007 11:37

Yum - sounds lovely, and with a salad and a jacket potato - fab.

littlemisssensible · 03/01/2007 13:14

Arghhhhhhhhhhh!

Sorry Guys, I needed to vent!

The SA Returns month has started with a bang and my father is already doing my head in

I know he's just worried that we won't cope without him (he's supposed to be retiring!) but at 70 he often forgets what he's done with a client and he always expects us to drop what we're doing and deal with his latest, and as far as he is concerned most urgent, query!

Arghhhhhhhhhhh!

Karen (office Manager) is being very good and trying to keep him out of my hair, and I know i over react because he's my dad and he makes me feel about 5 when he starts moaning! Got to think calming thoughts!!!!

Trouble is, I get very tense then reach for the biccy tin so i've got to try and keept calm!

Sorry for the rant guys, but it helps to let off steam here!!!!

JackieNo · 03/01/2007 13:25

Poor you, littlemisssensible - will that last till end of January, then?

Dottydotthehalls · 03/01/2007 13:30

Ooh it's busy round here! It'll give Sue a shock when she gets back - poor thing, I've just been looking at her website and she must feel like she's never going to make it home Fingers crossed she's back very soon and can start settling Daniel in.

Meanwhile I'm enjoying my last day of eating freedom before I'm at WW tomorrow! It's a struggle being at work - no biscuits to hand - but apparently that's a Good Thing...

(P.S. I can't seem to get rid of my Christmas name - how do you do it??!)

JackieNo · 03/01/2007 13:32

You should just be able to go to 'my registration' at the top of the page, change it back, save, and come back to the talk boards, remembering also to adjust it in the nickname box under the message box the first time you post a message (does that make sense? I think it needed a few full stops, sorry)

littlemisssensible · 03/01/2007 13:42

Yep Jackie,

This is me until 31st!!!! And to add insult to injury I was up at 5.30am posting the bloody things online to the inland Revenue because I couldn't get on to their site yesterday evening! And that'll probably get worse as the month goes on to!

Deep Joy [sigh]

JackieNo · 03/01/2007 13:45

Oh dear - poor you - you have my sympathies. Sounds as if you need to adjust your hours to work night shifts during January.
