I have to do something.

I'm ashamed that I've allowed myself to get so huge. I've been in denial for years, avoided full length mirrors for years judging new clothes on how others say they look. I

I've downloaded MFP, brought a jawbone up2 tracker, got a pair of weight watchers scales, a pack of slim sip and am determined.

I've tried weight watchers, slimming world, Cambridge diet, orlistat, and a dietician. The next step for me is surgery, which I don't want.

I started today, anyone like to share my journey?

Hello can I join you all?

I went to the nurse at the surgery today and i weigh 88kilos or 13.12 I'm 5'2 so morbidly obese. The funny thing is I had my son 7 months ago and weighed 12.4 at delivery so basically I've put 2 stone on since he's been born fml!

I started some antidepressants and sleeping tablets today so that should help me and my mood for sure.

She's also signing me up for the 12 weeks reduced gym membership and said if I lose 5 lb by the 24th of Feb they will give me the slimming tablets orarstate?

I'm going on holiday on 12 of June and I'd like to be 11 stone so 3 stone to lose in 4.5 months I won't manage it but it's well worth trying!

elliejjtiny · 04/02/2016 02:03

Can I join you? Started at 20st, now 18st 6lb. Mostly pregnancy weight from 5 pregnancies. I'm doing calorie counting with a bit of help from myfitnesspal. My main reason for loosing weight is that I have a disabled toddler who weighs 16kg and I want to be able to carry him without feeling like I'm about to die. I struggled loads at the beginning but it's easier now I'm seeing numbers on my scales I'd forgotten existed! Just waiting to lose enough for people to notice and for my clothes to be too big (although I did get rid of a pair of old size 26 maternity leggings that are now too big).

Hi everyone, and welcome to the new additions to the thread!

I haven't been online much so sorry for the disappearing act, but I am still here and still plugging away! I plateaued for a week, had a week with no loss (no gain either though), and then down another two at this week's weigh in. It's been slow and steady and still heading in the right direction, so I'm not complaining! It was a fast day for me today, but I'm meeting friends out for dinner tomorrow evening so going to be eating very lightly all day tomorrow as well.

A stone lighter after one month, Brokenbiscuit, that is brilliant!! Well done! Thanks for missing me and for the words of encouragement Smile

NewYearsAoibhe · 04/02/2016 03:18

ellie Congrats on shrinking out of your old leggings! One of the most inspiring threads that I read on MFP was on 'non scale victories' - that's a good one to start with!

CrazyDuchess · 05/02/2016 06:51

1.1kg down this week (and still have sat and Sunday to go!)

Had a mini binge on cheese crackers and chocolate. I logged everything on MFP and stayed under my calories and cards goal (blew fat right out of the water)

Soo in thirty days I've dropped 9kg - so here's to another 4-5 kg this month!

CrazyDuchess · 05/02/2016 06:51

Carbs**

CrazyDuchess · 05/02/2016 10:18

Annd then come into the office there is a HUGE tray of Krispy Kreme doughnuts : (

Made a good choice and logged it and will work around it but jeez the amount of calories in one is the same as a huge chicken salad!!

CrazyDuchess · 07/02/2016 11:14

Well a total of 1.7kg down this week so supreme happy, although last night I gave in a binged on a box of fondant fancies : ( maybe I have been depriving myself too much??

Hello I know I'm a bit late joining but I've been following this thread since early jan. Wow well done, a lot of weight off for you all. Have found this thread very motivating so thank you. I've lost a stone since jan 5th so pleased with that though each week I've lost a little less each time so need to keep feeling motivated. Due to health reasons I am unable to do most excercise other than swimming,(non weight bearing, severe pelvic floor issues etc). I want to lose 4/5 more stone. Got Mfp and bought fitbit but struggling to understand how to use my fitbit flex lol! I'm calorie counting but trying to be a bit low carbing but as a veggie still eating all veg inc the not so low carbs ones. Defo not potatoes though. Enjoying reading your journeys.

QueenofallIsee · 08/02/2016 15:28

Weigh in day - I have lost a stone, first milestone hit! I am thrilled to bits and really hope that it keeps coming off

I am doing this with a friend of mine, she is doing Lean in 15 and it seems to be coming off dead fast. That said, I eat pretty much what I want within the 1200 calorie limit so don't feel deprived, I get the impression that her regime is pretty hard core which I know I would be rubbish at!

CrazyDuchess · 08/02/2016 16:43

Well done Eliza amd Queen - i find it so much easier when there are others in the same boat to motivate and spur each other on.

heres to another successful month!

moonlight1705 · 09/02/2016 15:22

Ooh just found this thread - at the moment I am 20st 4lb (at 5'6) so am morbidly obese. I have been doing the on off dieting for years and need just to find a way of healthy eating that I can stick to.

Funnily enough, despite being so big, I am pretty fit. I am doing the Couch to 5K with my DP and can now run for 20 minutes solid and clock up around 4km each time three days a week. I put on any weight since starting the running but I have not lost any either.

So - slimming world? 5:2 diet? How does everyone do it with families around? My DP doesn't believe in diets and thinks that just by eating a few more veg then I'll be fine (only another minimum 9st to lose).

elliejjtiny · 09/02/2016 19:06

Weigh in day today 5lb off this week, 22lb in total. Really pleased.

moonlight I'm doing calorie counting. I'm too lazy to weigh food so I have a list of foods that I know how many calories are in them. DH gets a bigger portion, extra thing I can just shove in the oven or he'll eat cereal afterwards.

CrazyDuchess · 09/02/2016 20:54

Moonlight - I am calorie counting too however I have done slimming world in the past and that worked pretty well. But at least MFP is free haha.

I am a single mum and work full time and tbh me and my daughter eat different meals. The issue is that she needs the calories l, she burns them off pretty quickly whereas I am low carbing on top of the calorie counting and it's working pretty well for me.
10kg down in a little over a month so I am doing something right xx

moonlight1705 · 09/02/2016 21:25

I've downloaded my fitness plan so we'll see how that goes. Already shocked how many calories are in our favourite thai green curry - it's all from the coconut milk Shock

CrazyDuchess · 09/02/2016 22:08

Yes it's definitely an eduction!!!

elizalovelace · 10/02/2016 09:40

I too am calorie counting with help from an app. Trying to low carb a bit too but as a veggie it's really just a case of giving up potatoes, rice, pasta and bread. Have limited some fruit and carby veggies tho. Weight coming off about 2lb a week so ok with that.

CrazyDuchess · 10/02/2016 19:26

It's a good rate. After a big initial drop, now averaging 2-3 lbs a week and surprised at how well I have stuck to it!!

I am hoping that I would be able to do some exercise once a couple more stone have fallen off :)

QueenofallIsee · 11/02/2016 09:56

I am not having the best of weeks food wise. I have been away with work for 3 days, out with friends over the weekend, not managed to get to the gym, on my period and totally knackered with 5am starts. This had led to carbs, oh so many carbs. I had toast and marmalade for breakfast today Sad

I am logging it all on MFP but am expecting a bit of a crappy loss this week. I hope I can get back on track, this is danger time when I start thinking its not worth trying cos I have ballsed up

elizalovelace · 11/02/2016 12:55

I know how you feel when you wonder if it's all worth it, but really we know it is. Just forget about last few days and carry on as before.... It is worth it, though it can be hard alright.

CrazyDuchess · 11/02/2016 21:19

Yup just draw a line and start again!. If you really do up the protein, the urge to eat more carbs really does diminish.

But also don't beat yourself up, there is always tomorrow xx

QueenofallIsee · 12/02/2016 10:29

Thanks my lovely online buddies. Headed to body attack last night and smashed it - according to my fitbit, I burned 800 calories...it felt like more! Tucked into fish and steamed veg and loved it....hope you are doing well

moonlight1705 · 12/02/2016 12:44

Just stopped myself going down to the shops and buying a big load of crisps! Instead, I am having a pitta with salad and eggs Smile....feel better already.

CrazyDuchess · 12/02/2016 22:53

that's really good to hear.

Well i have hit my 1kg target for the week and i still have the weekend to go! i am surprised at how much i am enjoying watching the scales going down.
in 5 weeks time (according to MFP) i will weigh the same as i did 6 years ago! that is exciting.

in anticipation i "splashed" out in some final sale stuff from Dorothy Perkins (Dress and Trousers for £20!!!)

Annnddd... eek i have a date next weekend, and no one in real life to share that with! so hoping i can do another kg for next week too.

Roll on the weekend

What a great and inspiring thread. I've already nicked kids chocs today but am now on Day 1 of mission to lose this mass of weight I've put on before my birthday party inJuly. I'm 2.5 stone overweight. Any starter tips at all?? Was planning to cut out booze, sugar, go swimming. I also not allowed weight bearing exercise due to long term illness.
