I have to do something.

I'm ashamed that I've allowed myself to get so huge. I've been in denial for years, avoided full length mirrors for years judging new clothes on how others say they look. I

I've downloaded MFP, brought a jawbone up2 tracker, got a pair of weight watchers scales, a pack of slim sip and am determined.

I've tried weight watchers, slimming world, Cambridge diet, orlistat, and a dietician. The next step for me is surgery, which I don't want.

I started today, anyone like to share my journey?

Been very good (despite a horribly stressful week) down 0.5kg this week so that's diet alone- I have been doing no exercise at all. Would love a kg loss next week :)

Well done Duchess, it's tough to stay on track when you're stressed, so well done!

I'm doing ok too. Weekends tend to be when I overeat the most, as I tend to want to treat myself, but I'm doing ok so far - allowing some treats but trying to maintain a balance as well.

How is everyone else doing?

Gosh another 0.5kg off this morning too - getting very excited now :) so that's a total 1 kg this week. I think that's a reasonable aim of 1kg a week so I am pleased and in a bit of a routine now.

Other exciting news.... I am getting 2 kittens tomorrow. Eeekkkk very exciting times

Morning weigh loss buddies! 2lb off this week, so that is 8lb total so far. I will take that as a win. Stuffed up with a vile cold so haven't got out exercise wise this weekend, also got accidently pissed on Saturday night with some friends so Sunday was a bit of a wash out! Happy with 2lb a week, I think its sustainable. If I can keep it up that will be 4stone by July. That would be pretty awesome

Can I join? Went to the Drs on Friday to find I have put on about 9 stone since 2009 ConfusedI knew how much I weighed now (around about 18st) but seeing it in writing really has given me a much needed kick up the arse! Bought a fitbit which I started using yesterday, did about 12000 steps yesterday and today am currently on 13400 so I'm determined to smash the 15000 today! Have been massively under my calorie goal for the past couple of days too so hoping for a bit of a loss by the end of the week Smile
I always dive head first into this kind of thing then lose motivation after a while. The taunting smiley face on my Fitbit is helping so far!

Welcome sunshine. :) I usually dive in and then lose motivation too, but I'm determined that this time will be different. Let's make this the year that we change our eating habits for good!

Well done on your losses Queen and Duchess - fantastic progress. Yesterday was my weigh in day as well, and I have dropped another 3lb, so 11lb in total. Still a long way to go, but it's a good start! :)

How is everyone else doing?

My weigh in day will be Sunday. Only just managed my 10000 steps yesterday, did manage to drag myself out for a 45 minute walk when it was the last thing I wanted to so and have so far been 'under' my calorie goal every day this week so I'm pleased...will see on Sunday if it's had amy effect or not! Well done on your 11 lb!

Sorry I'm a bit late to the thread, but can I join you?

I've been overweight since I was about 9, though not horrendously so until I hit my twenties. Since then it's been gradually creeping up, and on Monday when I weighed myself I was 16 stones 3. I have suddenly got willpower that has previously been lacking, aand I am determined to get to my 'ideal' weight of 10 stones. So far this week, through not snacking and going to the gym a lot, I have lost 3 pounds.

I've just found this thread too!

I have always yo-yo'd but I weighed myself on the 4th Jan and was horrified to find I was the heaviest I've ever been - 16st1 at 5ft7.

So, I have been planning and logging food on MFP. Daily goal of 1200 cals. Slowly building exercise in, swim once or twice a week building up to aerobics or a run when I've lost a bit more.

On Monday I weighed in at 15 st1 so I'm down a stone this month :) I now have a stinking cold and all I want to do is reach for comfort food but trying to stay strong.
I can stay on track if I plan what I'm going to eat in advance.
Best advice - cook from the Hairy Dieters cookbooks, all calorie counted and everything has been so tasty. Xx

Just a rallying post, I used to weigh 21 st 3 pounds. Shock! My bp was high, I was so unfit and really hated myself. Clothes shopping was heart breaking :( I was only in my mid twenties. After being refused life insurance as I was morbidly obese, I resolved to lose the weight. In the space of 20 months I dropped 10 stone, all through reducing calories and walking. I started running soon after I reached 11 stone and I felt like a new person. It's bloody hard work, stick with it. It's achievable :)

Another late joiner if that's ok? I am awfully fat and looking for this to be the year I get it off
Just signed up for a 14km charity walk in June so that's something to aim for...

Morning folks - weigh in today saw another 3lbs off! That is 11lb off since 4th Jan which is on target. MyFitnessPal is an absolute godsend as I am doing this the calorie counting way rather than 5:2 or similar

Duchess, I got myself a fitbit charge HR and I really like it! Another good one is the Up24, similar but I know people who much prefer the software so consider both

Another late joiner. I weighed 18st 13lb on the 4th Jan, weighed this Morning and I'm down 9lb. I'm trying to eat less and move more. I got myself a Fitbit flex and I'm recording everything on my fitness pal. My mother is 60 in April and that's my first target. She's having a party, there will be pictures, I'm fed up of trying to hide every time people get their camera out. I spent the majority of my 20's feeling fat and uncomfortable, I'm determined not to feel like it for the rest of my thirties!!

Another new person...

I logged into MFP account this morning and saw when I was last logged in two years ago I was 16st 2 and now I weigh 16st so I've lost 2 lbs in two years...time to take action !!

I'm starting fresh today and going to attempt the 5:2 , I'm not a dieter usually because I find it all so faddy but something needs to change.

My issues all begin after dark when I open a bottle of wine and not long after begin scoffing too so tonight I'm booked on a yoga class.

I'm 5ft 9 and my old target weight/ normal weight was 10st 10 however that may be too big an ask we'll see

Welcome to the new people! :)

I weighed myself this morning and have lost another 3lb this week, so that's just over a stone in total since 4th January. I'm pleased with that, and it feels sustainable.

coming, I'm doing 5:2 and finding it really suits me so far. I'm also doing MFP on my non fast days so that I can avoid overeating. There is a very supportive 5:2 thread on MN if anyone is interested. I'm finding it very encouraging!

Wondering what has happened to NewYear, my weight loss twin?! She hasn't posted for a couple of weeks, unless she has name changed. If you're out there, New, hope you're still on track! We can do this!!

Just booked my flights for a hen weekend in July.....if I can maintain my weight loss, I will be almost at target weight before I go and maybe I can wear a swimsuit with wanting to weep. I have some very beautiful and slender friends who would never make me feel bad but its hard not to get a bit down when holidaying with them at the beach (I would never say that to them they would be horrified)

So i have a new reason to do this - to 'fit in' again when we go..oh for the days when we were all slim and gorgeous together!
