I have to do something.

I'm ashamed that I've allowed myself to get so huge. I've been in denial for years, avoided full length mirrors for years judging new clothes on how others say they look. I

I've downloaded MFP, brought a jawbone up2 tracker, got a pair of weight watchers scales, a pack of slim sip and am determined.

I've tried weight watchers, slimming world, Cambridge diet, orlistat, and a dietician. The next step for me is surgery, which I don't want.

I started today, anyone like to share my journey?

evening all, how are you all getting on?

I've sort of decided on my plan of action I think. Weighed myself on friday morning at 19st 3lb, so taking that as my starting place, which is what I was in May before I originally started fasting. So good news is I didn't put as much weight back on as I thought.

So the plan:

start weight= 19st3lb/ size 22
2016 target= 14st 7lbs/ size 16
overall target weight= 10st/ size 12

Going to be fasting as my primary weight loss tool with healthier eating and walking as my main exercise. Weigh day is probably going to be friday. Keeping a diary too so I'm keeping a good look at what i'm doing.

This weeks food plan looks like this:

Monday-normal= breakfast as normal, soup for lunch, chilli with courgetti for dinner
Tuesday- fasting= soup at 176, aubergine stew at 148, rice at 30, plus fruit and drinks.
Wednesday- low calorie= breakfast muffin 178, cheese salad 200, chicken curry and rice 900, plus fruit and drinks.
Thursday-fast= chickpea and parma ham salad 98, frittata 250, salad at 50, plus fruit and drinks
Friday-normal= breakfast and lunch as normal, home made pizza for tea.
Saturday- low calorie= breakfast muffin 178, scrambled eggs and wholemeal toast 400, meatball stew 250, crusty bread and butter 800, fruit and drinks.
Sunday- normal= breakfast and then probably out for dinner (choosing healthier options)

Helloooo how is everyone doing??

Starting to feel diet fatigue set in - I need something quick and tasty to eat for dinner less than 600 kcals - any ideas???

QueenofallIsee · 13/01/2016 13:49

My skin has broken out so badly this week - I am telling myself its toxins leaving my body now that I am eating better, also hormonal which can't help but I hardly ever get spots so 3/4 at once is horrendous!

Babieseverywhere · 13/01/2016 14:33

I have lost 4.6lbs this week and I managed a four mile very slow walk this morning (took me an hour!) Which gave me 11000 Fitbit steps :)

CrazyDuchess · 13/01/2016 17:31

I feel absolutely exhausted and I am wondering whether this is also part of the detoxing??

Keeping under my goal, eating loads of salad and veg, doing my exercise. I've cut down on caffeine no alcohol and loads of water. Not so much tempted to eat a bunch of junk, I'm enjoying the variety.

Invested in some good food scales and a Nutribullet for breakfast smoothies..... just need to use it now haha

Brokenbiscuit · 13/01/2016 18:23

I'm really, desperately tired too Duchess - ready to drop every night by the time dd goes to bed! On the upside, I've been getting much more sleep!

I'm not suffering too badly with cravings either - I think it's because I'm not experiencing the highs and lows that I normally get from large quantities of sugary crap. If anything, I'm enjoying my food much more now because I'm actually paying attention to what I put in my mouth, iyswim.

My skin looks better (sorry Queen) but I'm guessing that's linked to more sleep, more exercise and more fruit & veg. I've also cut out alcohol as I'm doing dry January.

So far, so good. Just hoping that my body will adjust to the new regime soon, so that I'm not quite so exhausted all the time!

CrazyDuchess · 13/01/2016 18:35

Agreed - I am still so full fromantic lunch that the thought of dinner is overwhelming which is a really surprising side effect, but going to do it then straight to bed.

Looking forward to the bundles of energy I've been promised!!

QueenofallIsee · 14/01/2016 11:54

I am happy this morning - its only been a week and 3lbs but I will take my joy where I can. I bought a pair of jeggings pre Xmas, didn't try them on as have been a 14 in that shop for at least 3 years but they were a bit bloody tight! Put them on today and they are grand. So I am going in the right direction

Brokenbiscuit · 14/01/2016 13:23

Well done Queen - that's great progress!

I'm hoping it won't be long before I can fit into some of my old clothes!

NinaVr87 · 14/01/2016 16:46

Hi,
Arriving a bit late but I'm glad to have found this thread, as I too have an intimidating amount of weight to lose. I just gave birth to twins before Christmas, and am subsequently 30 pounds above where I started (125lb).

At one point I had lost 10 pounds but have since piled it all on again over the festive period.

Starting to feel extremely self-conscious, so any help/support would be greatly appreciated. And I hope I can return the favour. Thanks

popcornpaws · 14/01/2016 17:02

I have lost over eight stone in 18 month, i write a food diary and stick to it 100%
If I'm having a day off (for a birthday etc) i eat what i want but go straight back on it the next day.
i didn't and still don't weigh myself often as i don't want to be a slave to numbers and i know i will lose weight as I'm sticking to my new eating plan.
I was the greediest bastard with sweets and cakes etc and now i only eat cake on a birthday.
Some people might think oh i couldn't do that, but you can, its easy and when i look back at old photos I'm amazed i thought i looked okay as my hair and makeup were always nice!
I feel amazing now, in control of not only my eating but every aspect of my life! its changed my whole outlook.
I feel free!!

Brokenbiscuit · 14/01/2016 17:16

That's inspiring popcorn! Thanks for sharing and congratulations on your weight loss!

popcornpaws · 15/01/2016 00:00

Thanks, just wanted to let the others know that it is possible, i was 17.8 stone and I'm now around 9 or 9.2, i know a lot of people feel overwhelmed when they have to lose loads but my advice would be do a food tracker, stick to it and forget "treats" on a day to day basis, treats are what got you where you are now!
I started thinking of food as fuel to give me energy and get me to where i wanted to be which was healthy energetic and happy.

This is the way i need to eat for the rest of my days if i want to stay a healthy weight and I'm more than happy to do this, i owe myself a bit of respect (thats my mantra) along with its only food!

QueenofallIsee · 15/01/2016 12:10

Wow popcorn, that is amazing. Congratulations on your huge achievement!

I went to the gym last night, feeling pretty good about going 3 times a week for the health benefit and I am logging everything in 'My Fitness Pal' which I love as I am quite goal orientated. Main problem? I am impatient and want it all NOW - all the weight to be off and fit enough to run. I am aware of how ridiculous and childish that is of course

popcornpaws · 15/01/2016 14:24

I know exactly what you mean with wanting to lose the weight quickly, it seems daunting when you have lots to lose, i tried not to think too far ahead and tried not to calculate what weight i would be in x amount of months etc
Find a healthy eating plan that works for you and tell yourself every day "this is how i eat now".
I gave up all the things that made me fat and i don't miss them, focus on being strong and healthy and you won't look back, remember the foods you craved in the past are in the past!

Brokenbiscuit · 15/01/2016 22:03

I think it's good advice to focus on long term eating habits and health, rather than short term dieting and weight loss. I'm seeing this as a chance to re-educate myself about food.

I do want the weight to go quickly, of course, but I'm in this for the long haul. Trying to identify lots of mini milestones to keep myself motivated!

Brokenbiscuit · 18/01/2016 07:22

How is everyone getting on?

QueenofallIsee · 18/01/2016 08:51

Morning Biscuit - today is weigh day, week 2 and I have lost another 3lb so that's 6lb total in a fortnight. I am delighted although I know that my eating over Xmas probably added that on anyway!

Yesterday I went to my first 'class' - Bodyattack. I was mauve in the face and concerned that I would be knocked out by my own boobs but I did it! Years of smoking and one of my food groups being alcohol mean I am very unfit so I am glad to be moving more

Brokenbiscuit · 18/01/2016 09:19

Well done Queen, sounds like you're right on track. Great that you're getting back into exercise!

I've lost another 1.5lb this week, so around 7.5lb in total over the fortnight. I'm impatient for it to go quickly, but it's a good start and I'm going to stick with it this year!!

QueenofallIsee · 18/01/2016 09:40

7.5lb is ace! It is a good feeling isn't it. I am hoping I can become of those smug bastards who gets addicted to exercise...be a nice change from being the bad influence lol.

My bodyattack instructor had a body the likes of which I have only ever seen on tv..she was perfect! Maybe one day we will have abs

MarkingMyPlace9 · 18/01/2016 15:10

Hi all! Hope I can join in. DS2 is now 7 Weeks Old, and although I have lost the Weight I put on through Pregnancy, I now need to loose 2-3 Stone that I never lost after being Pregnant with DS1! It's My Bday tomorrow, so will be starting next Week. Well done to all the losses so far Grin I am Breastfeeding though, so know I cannot go crazy with the Dieting. I need smaller portions and to stop snacking, not easy when your a SAHM!

NewYearsAoibhe · 19/01/2016 03:08

Hi all, weigh in today was 244, so I'm down 6lb from this day two weeks ago. Three pounds down, two weeks in a row. Feels good and made fast day today easy enough. Smile

I'm finding the M&S Count on Us aisle to be a lifesaver for fast days. Lots of options in the 350 calorie range, which means if I just have a banana or a slice of toast around lunchtime, I can stop in on my way home from work and get something tasty and easy for dinner. I'm really not feeling too deprived on fast days at all. I am a night owl, so have occasionally dipped in to the next day's calories after midnight, but only by 100 calories or so and I do record it on MFP and deduct from what I have the following day, so I think that's ok.

Well done, Queen and biscuit, seems like we're all staying on track, which is great. Great to have somewhere to check in as well. Welcome Marking !

AliBingo · 20/01/2016 15:15

Hiya, can I join you? I signed up for WW yesterday, 15st11. Have been over 20 stone in past and heading back that way so need to do something!

Booked a holiday for April at weekend so I am.hoping to lose a couple of stone in the next 13 weeks.

I have lost a lot using marks count on us before but the range is completely different now - anyone tried the new stuff and got any recommendations please?

QueenofallIsee · 21/01/2016 08:42

Hi all, managing to stay on track this week? I am doing pretty well, though I did eat chips yesterday! Mind you I still stayed within my 1200 calorie range so I am not being too hard on myself. I swam on Tuesday and tonight I am at Les Mills BodyAttack and the gym!

The downside is that I now have an additional reason to shop for clothes (I have purchased 3 pairs of trainers in a fortnight). DP says I could find something to buy in the desert, he is clearly right!

Brokenbiscuit · 21/01/2016 08:49

Morning all, so pleased to see that everyone is staying on track! Some great reports of weight loss, well done everybody! :)

I'm fasting today, but feeling ok about it. I'm determined that now is the time to make long term changes to my diet.

NewYear, thank you for the tip re m&s ready meals. I have one for the end of my fast this evening, and it looks delicious! :)
