Hello Smile
I've recently lost over 30lbs but I still need to lose another 30ish. Anyone want to join in for some support/motivation? I'm thinking weekly Monday morning weigh ins starting tomorrow (Not compulsory).
I'm going to do healthy food at about 1000-1200 calls a day. I may also add in some fast days too.
All diet types and weights welcome Smile

Hi everyone, I've just read through all the posts from yesterday and it sounds like everyone has a great plan, all individual but all really positive, it's inspiring to read!

I've been doing reasonably well, I think, although I'm resisting getting on the scales until Monday because I don't want to be disappointed if I weigh myself too early and haven't made much progress.

Yesterday I had to go to the bank, so I walked (about a mile each way) and just as I was putting DS into his buggy I remembered his heavy pushchair which we don't use much now, so I put him in that instead. It was hard work pushing him uphill, so I'm sure that was a few extra calories burned! I love the podcast idea Aussiemum, I'm.going to try that while I'm walking or on the exercise bike. With the bike especially it's the boredom that I find hardest to overcome. I think a podcast could be the answer.

Other than that I'm eating lots and lots of veg, quite a bit of fruit and some nuts. Trying to avoid bread and have stopped all alcohol.

How is everyone feeling going into the weekend? Has anyone got any plans that will make sticking to the eating plan difficult?

kate1516 · 24/07/2015 12:49

I like the podcast idea too. Anyone have any recommendations of good ones?

Cynara · 24/07/2015 14:17

I've just made the mistake of reading an AIBU thread about baked camembert. My vegetable chilli for dinner is suddenly looking a lot less appealing.

Clearly need to be much more vigilant about what I read on here. Temptations round every corner!

RoosterCogburn · 24/07/2015 15:42

CYnara - I read that thread too and my mouth was watering - when she added the picture I was tempted to go shopping. I live in the middle of nowhere so luckily it wasn't really practical. If I was in walking distance of a Lidl I think my will power would have cracked!

Threesoundslikealot · 24/07/2015 17:07

The joy of low carb is that baked Camembert can be yours!

ThatsWotSheSaid · 24/07/2015 18:47

Sorry I've not been on much I'm camping in Cornwall at the moment. Eating well while camping is nearly impossible. I am hoping to maintain and I'm definitely not going as crazy as I would before I started losing weight but I'm still scared for Monday. Today everyone had fish and chips but I just had the fish.... Small victory but I'm still proud. Grin and I've been walking a lot and generally been really active so hopefully not too much damage.

I met a friend at lunchtime today. She managed to stuff down steak, fries and cheesecake in our lunch hour. I had a smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwich with salad - and only ate half the bread. I didn't even care! Grin

something's working, working in my brain .... bonus points if you see what song I've amended there Grin

achieve15 · 24/07/2015 19:06

Cyanara, what about BBC Cabin Pressure to listen to - good laugh, you don't need to be up to date with it.

some episodes online now
www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00lmcxj/episodes/player

Cynara · 24/07/2015 19:31

Thanks for that achieve, I'll give that a go tomorrow when I'm on the exercise bike. Will report back!

Well done you for sticking to your plan while watching someone eat steak and chips! That's impressive. It's great that you didn't even struggle with it, you must be very 'in the zone'Grin

I, on the other hand, have had to coerce DP into joining me on my diet, because there is no way I could watch him eat a plate of chips and not throw myself head first into it.

RoosterCogburn · 24/07/2015 19:51

Well done achieve

My problem is if I do fall off the wagon I get annoyed and want to give up - or I take the attitude well, I've overeaten so I may as well stuff my face and go from having had one 'bad' thing to eating 3 doughnuts and a bar of chocolate.

I'm finding it fairly easy to stay within my calorie goal on MFP because it's holiday time - I'm much worse when I'm in work so I'll have to be really disciplined in September.

Cynara · 24/07/2015 19:59

Rooster, what's MFP? And re the camembert - luckily I'm miles from a Lidl as well, and it's only that fact that kept me on track today. The AIBU poster has a lot to answer for!

LifeIsBetterInFlipFlops · 24/07/2015 20:18

I wondered what'd happened to you Thatswot, hope you're having a lovely time. Maintaining whilst on holiday would be quite an achievement, so don't worry about Monday.

Enjoy the rest of your break, and hope you're not too soggy!

RoosterCogburn · 24/07/2015 20:33

Cynara MFP is My Fitness Pal - free app/website where you can calorie count.
I'm not folliwing a specific diet plan, just calorie counting - it's quite scary at how easy it is to rack up the calories - this is making me much more discerning in my food choices

Cynara · 24/07/2015 20:51

Right, I'm downloading that now, thanks. I'm following a sort of Slimming World diet, but cheating quite a bit on things like yoghurt and cheese because of the breastfeeding. Calorie counting would help, I think. I'll have the calcium-rich food but deduct those calories from the total allowance.

My aim today was to up the excise so got myself all organised, put my swimming costume on under my clothes, went to the pool but hadn't checked the times so couldn't swim. Going for a pub lunch in a swimming costume surely counts as exercise right? Dammit.

achieve15 · 25/07/2015 11:36

oh Kate, how annoying! what was going on there then?

Just out of curiosity, did anyone else gain their extra weight relatively fast? I did. I am not in a position to just say "I will buy nice new clothes when I lose weight" but going through my old ones, I realised that there's not as much as there might need to be i.e. I passed a couple of sizes pretty quickly so it's not like I have a whole wardrobe in any size. So that's going to be interesting.

Equally, I don't want to spend money I haven't got on any stages I might not reach (!) or any inbetween stages. So that's going to be a bit weird. Luckily I work in a casual office.

kate1516 · 25/07/2015 12:59

Just swimming lessons. Should have checked before I went. Didn't do pub lunch. Had a yummy omelette instead. Going to try a body balance class this evening instead. Already but nervous as I am not very coordinated and always find going to classes quite daunting

achieve6 · 26/07/2015 11:06

Kate, it wouldn't occur to me to check that either! Glad you didn't eat the pub lunch. Some of the calories of food eaten outside stun me, it's like they are going for max fat.

I like body balance and I have no co-ordination. Hope it went well.

welcome along mumslife!

Just realised that fasting today is going to skew my Monday weigh in. Ach well, if it's lower I shall be encouraged, lol.

ThatsWotSheSaid · 26/07/2015 19:53

Good evening ladies Grin
im back from camping and I've been good today. I have just eaten meat free chilli with salad.
I'm going on holiday again next week so I'm going to be dieting hard this week.
my diet demons at the moment seem to be the alcohol, having bits of the kids food and bread.
On the hand I have found that I'm happy eating lots of healthy food and I'm actually craving veg and salad.

OP posts:
ThatsWotSheSaid · 27/07/2015 09:56

Weigh in this morning ........
Sw (start weight) 205lbs
Last week 171lbs
Today 172lbs
I'm actually happy with this. I ate more than normal and drank a lot of booze last week because I was on holiday.
I'm fasting today and having bean salad with fish as my only meal.

RoosterCogburn · 27/07/2015 10:05
