Hello Smile
I've recently lost over 30lbs but I still need to lose another 30ish. Anyone want to join in for some support/motivation? I'm thinking weekly Monday morning weigh ins starting tomorrow (Not compulsory).
I'm going to do healthy food at about 1000-1200 calls a day. I may also add in some fast days too.
All diet types and weights welcome Smile

I've woken up today feeling so much more optimistic about losing weight because of this thread! It's lovely to know there are other people doing the same thing, and reading the posts through this morning inspired me to have an onion omelette for breakfast instead of a biscuit, buttered toast and a kit kat!

Yes, I dont think I'd have stuck to it if it wasn't for coming on here. My SIL kindly shared with me how she'd lost almost half a stone over a year by going down to 1 sugar in her coffee. Very nice and I'm happy for her, but I want my inspiration from people who know what it's like to have multiple stones to shift and have to combat urges to eat a box of thorntons in under 2 minutes.

achieve15 · 21/07/2015 11:30

Lucked - yes I can imagine concentration would go. I don't do the other days as "feast" days, I am on restricted calories those days but I was worried in case I got mega-hungry.

pillowaddict · 21/07/2015 11:58

What do people tend to eat for fast days? I'm trying to stick to 3 meals with. O snacks as that's a big downfall for me. So far had porridge for breakfast and a large coffee today, thinking soup for lunch then vegetable chilli for tea. Hoping to stick to 1200 cals on non fast days, except at weekends when invariably I'll have wine!

munchkinmaster · 21/07/2015 12:10

Can I join. I'm a short arse and still got the baby weight a year on. Was 11 St 7lb 3 weeks ago and dropped to 11 3 in ten days. But motivation already lagging!

Doing mfp but going for 1600 as still feeding a monster baby. How I'll cope with less calories when baby stops feeding I don't know so really want to do this now while the feeding is giving me a boost.

I would like to get to 9 1/2 stone but will look human at 10.

LifeIsBetterInFlipFlops · 21/07/2015 12:13

DownWith - I hear you re having to combat urges to down a box of Thorntons in under 2 mins, sadly I would beat you hands down in less than a minute!

People who say, 'I forgot to eat today'. Really!?! This has never happened to me, but I live in hope...

achieve15 · 21/07/2015 12:47

pillowaddict - are you saying you eat 3 meals on a fast day? Sorry, probably being really thick. I'm fasting so that's my excuse if my brain isn't working Grin

Budge up Harpy, I'm coming to sit in the corner too. I need to find a thread I stick with and you lot seem just the gang Smile

Past experience has taught me I can lose weight if I keep my head in the game - and threads like this, with ike minded folk, really help.

I lost about 3 stone last year, put one back on and could now do with losing 30 pounds if not a few more

onwards and downwards - weigh in Mondays - is that the plan?

vickibee · 21/07/2015 13:44

I am similar to you OP, I have lost 35 Lb in 21 weeks and have plateaued - I still have the same to go and it is much harder. I am following WW but tbh the only thing that motivates me is knowing I will get weighed every Thursday. I havent lost anything for two weeks and did fall off the rails at the weekend

Applesnotcakes · 21/07/2015 13:55

falling off the rails in inevitable - its the getting back in the saddle quickly that makes the difference. Its bound to slow down once you've lost a lot but it all adds up in the end and as long as overall you're going down then you're on track even with the odd blip

if you've lost that much you know what you're doing - well done you! - just keep on going, it will start coming off again soon

RoosterCogburn · 21/07/2015 14:00

I need to lose 30b (to start with) I'm 173lb and 5'2". This the heaviest I've ever been and I feel uncomfortable in my own skin. My weight goes onto my middle and my face, so I look like a rotund hamster.

A few years ago I lost weight and got down to a size where I felt comfortable - over time I've slipped back into bad habits, putting on a stone in the last year.

Every shopping trip meant a bag of doughnuts to be eaten at home. Croissants for breakfast became a normal occurrence and not a treat and snacking in between meals is my biggest downfall.

My plan is
Use MFP to track my calories
I'm trying to not eat between meals - if I have to eat something it is going to be veg.
I'm also replacing one meal a day with a green smoothie, made up of 75% veg.
Walk more - I'm not a gym type person but I'm hoping if I'm a little more active that should help with the weight loss.

My mum has really kindly offered to treat me to some new clothes when I have lost the weight, so that's a bit of motivation for me as well.

Applesnotcakes · 21/07/2015 16:16

YY to too much snacking and not enough walking. Am with you on addressing both of those.

You can keep the smoothie though Smile

Cynara · 21/07/2015 16:28

Apples, when you lost weight last year, (and well done, btw, 3 stone is amazing!) how did you do it? Did you follow a plan, or was it a case of cutting back on food and increasing exercise?

ThatsWotSheSaid · 21/07/2015 17:14

Definitely agree about more walking less snacking.
My main issues is portion size when carbs are involved so I've mostly cut out pasta, rice and bread for now.
I keep seeing people I haven't seen for a while and they are saying lovely things about how I look which is really motivating.
I had a NSV today of digging out an old coat I haven't been able to wear for four years and it fits!!!

OP posts:
achieve15 · 21/07/2015 17:42

What is an NSV please?

Gosh, I wish I could wear clothes from 4 years ago.

Nearly 6pm, fast day going okay. About to go on 3/4 mile walk. Hoping for 4 but slightly worried in case I get ravenous, so I feel hungry at 3 miles I'll just come home and eat some calories.

DownWithThisTypeOfThing · 21/07/2015 17:58

NSV = Non-Scales Victory

(tried to reply to this about 20 times but this site REALLY doesn't like ipads does it? Apologies for any typos - had to use my phone in the end).

achieve15 · 21/07/2015 18:04

ah, thanks!

I'm off walking now.....I really am....! Grin

CordeliaFoxx · 21/07/2015 18:13

Hi can I join you please? I'm 5ft 2 and 11st 12. I've put on over a stone due to the Depo injection and am currently waiting for it to wear off, though it will be a while yet. 5 months since last shot and been told could take up to a year for it to leave my system and it will hinder my weightloss until then ????

CordeliaFoxx · 21/07/2015 18:16

LifeIs I often forget to eat, and exist on coffee for most of the day, then I get to 4pm and realise I've not eaten all day and that's where it goes wrong

RoosterCogburn · 21/07/2015 18:31

I never forget to eat.
At the end of every meal DH often says "you were hungry" because I have eaten so much/so quickly.
The truth is I love food so I am trying hard to eat slowly and eat a balanced diet.
I also love cooking and baking - I'll just have to make the cooking of the healthy variety.

LifeIsBetterInFlipFlops · 21/07/2015 19:31

Ah yes Cordelia, that 4 o'clock shovel, I know it so well.

Achieve - well done on your fast day. Would you remind me what you've eaten and when please, and, 'WALK ACHIEVE WALK'!

LifeIsBetterInFlipFlops · 21/07/2015 19:35

Well done on the coat WhatIs. You must have loads of clothes you can now fit into I said wistfully

LifeIsBetterInFlipFlops · 21/07/2015 19:36

Punctuation fail

achieve15 · 21/07/2015 19:59

4 mile walk

up to the individual, not suggesting this is right for everyone...

black coffee in the AM, nothing else

small glass tomato juice at 2.30

apple with 30g low fat cheddar cheese at 5.30

got back and had a chicken salad with one piece of bread

that's me for the day - oh wait, I drink a lot of water!

I'm not one of these people who flaps if it is a bit over 500, it might be, but so far it seems fine. I totally get that some people want breakfast etc - each to their own, this is just how it works for me at the moment.
