Hello Smile
I've recently lost over 30lbs but I still need to lose another 30ish. Anyone want to join in for some support/motivation? I'm thinking weekly Monday morning weigh ins starting tomorrow (Not compulsory).
I'm going to do healthy food at about 1000-1200 calls a day. I may also add in some fast days too.
All diet types and weights welcome Smile

I blame me being a SAHM for the reason I haven't lost weight I just snack constantly! I am trying to have an apple at about this time when DS has his dinner otherwise I just scoff biscuits.
What's everyone having for dinner tonight? Am doing my online shop this evening and could do with more healthy ideas. Am having stirfry chicken tonight with lots of veg.

I do the boiled sweet thing too
I discovered I can't have one piece of even 80% choc!

I should add, on the Slim pasta - don't try it without a sauce. Not that I think you would eat pasta without sauce, but I mean don't try putting uncoated stuff in a salad or something, it needs a sauce.

I actually ended up eating crackers and dairylea when I got home - oops - but then had fish and salad so still within calories.

oddly something else I've dropped is Pepsi Max. I used to have about 3 cans a week - again usually in the office - I like the sweet taste but I do think that the artificial sweetener makes my body think it's hungry.

re walking, I don't have a car and walk a lot as well as planned walks. Sadly it doesn't make a difference - hence adding in the 4 miles which I will do again tomorrow. I have just found that small changes make no difference at all, sadly.

Does anyone else wish restaurants would put calories on menus? So many of us have to eat out for work or social obligations etc it can't always be a treat. I was having to go to a place once which does have calories on the website and the things I thought would be lower in cals weren't and their cheese souffle type thing was much lower in cals than I thought. I had that and salad, then a fruit for pud and it was much better than if I had had their grilled fish. Then again, I find many restaurants drown grilled items in oil. So annoying.

Will check out that site. Does it mention IKEA as part of an exercise plan? That's got to burn the calories!

never had Ikea meatballs because I've never been to Ikea!

love Aldi meatballs, they are banned too!

can someone send me to bed? If I don't go soon I am at risk of overeating tomorrow, I do that when I'm tired.

Applesnotcakes · 23/07/2015 08:54

Hope you managed to put yourself to bed Achieve. I know what you mean about eating when you're tired - or bored

I had a fairly good day yesterday, including no alcohol and only one biscuit. I'm in an office all day with young thin men and packets of biscuits that they eat with no visible effects. It's very hard not to join in

But yesterday was an okay day and aiming for the same today.

Going to buy boiled sweets for all those moments when I just want something. A sweet or a diet coke is the way forward. Not a chocolate digestive

Hope everyone has a good day

LifeIsBetterInFlipFlops · 23/07/2015 09:05

Good luck Apples.

My fast day went really well, thank goodness. It helped to hold off food until lunchtime. DS was in a raft race in the evening, and washing swan poo off his wetsuit put me off eating...that's my new top dieting tip!

Have a good day everyone.

achieve15 · 23/07/2015 10:56

Life - well done!

Apples - alas, I stayed up too late and had some yogurt before bed. Stupid of me I know.

I know what you mean about an office full of crap and people who seem able to eat it. My sister can actually eat lots and lots of food - more than I'd eat normally, not a joke - and not be overweight. She also doesn't work out and has no muscle to burn it off. It's taken me some time to face reality and accept that some people can eat like that and I just can't.

RoosterCogburn · 23/07/2015 13:36

I used to be able to eat anything and not put on weight.

I think part of my problem is that I still think I am that young thin person when the truth is over the past ten years my weight has crept up. The creeping up has become faster and faster so I need to act now.

I've lost 4lb this week - I know that weight loss isn't going to continue at that rate. Frighteningly all I have done is stop snacking and have a green smoothie instead of one meal.
I've eaten out twice and not stinted myself.

My snacking was out of control - if I had crisps I was eating 3-4 packets at a time.

DownWithThisTypeOfThing · 23/07/2015 14:20

Whereas I've always had to watch my weight but in the past when I wanted to lose weight I could do it really easily but now it seems harder.

Similar to you, I've just stopped snacking (as much) but still carried in going for meals etc. This week is a total write off though - FOUR celebrations. FOUR! I've had more alcohol and cake in the last week than I've had in three months. I've tried to pull back as many calories as I can elsewhere and be more active, but I'm skipping the weigh in this week and hoping for a maintain next week - I know I will have gained this week but if I see it on the scales I fear it'll knock some of the motivation out of me.

achieve15 · 23/07/2015 14:39

RoosterCogburn, 4lb is great!

What do you use to make your smoothie? I'm thinking of buying something but I don't know what. It needs to be straightforward, go in the dishwasher and not wildly pricey. I'm not a fan of gadgets so I'm not sure about it but I like the idea of a green smoothie. does it end up being full of fruit sugars in order to taste nice though?

I really like this thread. I've been on a diet forum before (not on MN) and it was full of people wanting to tell you the right way and wrong way to do things, so annoying. I don't know why they just couldn't accept differences....it wasn't exactly encouraging. (well some people lost weight but the atmosphere didn't suit me).

RoosterCogburn · 23/07/2015 14:41

It's hard isn't it (and I'm saying that on a weight loss week)

Some of my colleagues are about 15 years younger then me - they are slim and eat like horses. I look at them and remember when I could do the same.

I'm sure they look at my middle-aged rotundity and wonder how I let it happen. The truth is, it just crept up on me. A dress size every couple of years, a few pounds here and a few more there.

Looking at pictures of myself from 20 years ago I have cheekbones! I want to see them again.

When it comes to motivation I'm trying to look long term - for example I've just started IPL (my, don't I sound attractive, fat and hairy) the course should be finished by February so I'm telling myself by Feb I could be minus a moustache and 30lb lighter.

I'm also sad enough to plan rewards for myself - after each 10lb loss I am going to treat myself to something - I sound like a child!

RoosterCogburn · 23/07/2015 14:43

achieve I was lucky enough to be bought a nutribullet - I don't think I could have justified the cost myself.

I'm not a great fruit fan, so I quite like smoothies that are mostly veg. DH isn't so keen, he likes more fruit.

So far I've had things like lettuce, celery, kale, cucumber, lime, carrot and apple and really enjoyed them.

DownWithThisTypeOfThing · 23/07/2015 14:50

Rooster - so agree with the creeping up thing! It's so gradual and then all of a sudden it's undeniable. Other than an injury/meds two years ago, there's not been any significant gains, just gradual over a good few years. Ah well, Im in the zone now - that's all that matters.

I do the treating thing too - I'm so enjoying being able to buy clothes I like and I'm only a small way into my journey - I keep thinking "if I feel this happy now, imagine what Christmas will feel like!"

RoosterCogburn · 23/07/2015 14:57

DownWithThisTypeOfThing I love your user name - every time I read it it makes me smile and add "Careful now"

achieve15 · 23/07/2015 18:20

I had something funny for Downwiththistypeofthing and fans of the name on the government website but they've taken it down now Sad

Have walked 5 miles. Now feeling simultaneously tired and hyper.

Applesnotcakes · 23/07/2015 22:38

5 miles. Now you're talking. Good work!

Aussiemum78 · 23/07/2015 22:52

Me!

I'm trying something different and mentally it's working. Instead of focussing on cutting out and "can't have", I've set a goal to include fruit and vege (1-3 servings) in every meal and snack and to drink 2 litres of water everyday. So instead of eggs on toast - I cook eggs with baby spinach, tomatoes and mushroom. the meals mostly have some eggs, yoghurt, chicken, or fish in them for protein, but after veggies I'm only needing a small portion.

It's working, I don't feel deprived, the veggies are filling me up and my mindset is "getting each day ticked off". I'm making a switch to basing every meal around "how much vege can I put in it". I haven't really felt like chocolate even though I'm not cutting it out.

The other thing that's working is I've been listening to podcasts, and while I'm listening I'm walking. I've walked every day for two weeks for at least an hour. I'll probably need to do some weights soon, bu this is getting the initial few pounds off. Again, I'm exercising without feeling like its a chore.

Fingers crossed this will work...I have a habit of going hard on the diet, then crashing and burning followed by months of eating crap and feeling sorry for myself! Need to lose 40 pounds.
