Hello Smile
I've recently lost over 30lbs but I still need to lose another 30ish. Anyone want to join in for some support/motivation? I'm thinking weekly Monday morning weigh ins starting tomorrow (Not compulsory).
I'm going to do healthy food at about 1000-1200 calls a day. I may also add in some fast days too.
All diet types and weights welcome Smile

Lost 1lb
Disappointed!

WhenDoISleep · 27/07/2015 10:22

Hello all - is there room for one more?

I need to stop kidding myself and do something about my weight which has got out of control over the last 2 years really, purely through mindless overheating. I started MFP in May and lost 12lbs - then I just fell out of the habit of tracking. I'm still 7lbs down on my original weight, but I am getting back on track from today. 30lbs would be a great start - I need to lose 60 - 70lbs in total. I'm tracking via MFP and counting steps via a Fitbit.

I go on holiday in 4 weeks and would like to be approaching 14st by then.

Height: 5ft 4in
Starting weight: 14st 12.75lbs

ThatsWotSheSaid · 27/07/2015 10:24

Well done rooster that's amazing!
a loss is great regardless Achieve when I was over on the vlcd thread some of us often had weeks where we would lose 1lb or even maintain (and that's on 500 cals a day) but if we stuck at it we would have a 'woosh' and lose loads the next week. Apparently some peoples body's hold on to extra water during weight loss but the fat is still being used up.

ThatsWotSheSaid - thanks for the encouragement. I feel a bit pants especially as I was fasting on Sunday, I thought there would be a bigger loss. I keep hoping it's just a weird water thing or the fact that I ate late.

I had a fitbit, actually sold it on Ebay. I don't know why I bought it really. You can record your food intake but I've made so many attempts to diet doing that and I just find it incredibly boring. It does make it easier but not that much easier. The step count wasn't a surprise to me - I don't have a car so walk a lot anyway and little changes haven't made any difference to me either so...!

I think it's probably good for people who are normally sedentary and would be motivated by seeing steps going up.

I also didn't follow their calorie advice as it was obvious they were allocating me far too many and after looking online, I could see that happened to a lot of people.

I do know people who have been motivated to change by these devices but that's just my experience.

WhenDoISleep - hello! Welcome aboard Smile

WhenDoISleep · 27/07/2015 11:37

Thanks for the welocme1

I have the Fitbit One, which clips to your waist or jeans pocket, etc. I didn't use it for a long time but have dug it out again to track steps. It integrates to MFP but I don't check on the the Fitbit dashboard at all really, so I guess atm it is just a really expensive pedometer. I did originally buy it during a patch of really bad sleep, as I wanted to see if I really was as disturbed as I thought at night as the One tracks that data as well. My DSis has used the One as well but has given up on it as she lost it twice (just popped off her waist). She found it once in her office, but didn't the second time as it happened outdoors.

I have also used a Wii Fit Meter recently - which integrates to Wii Fit Sports as I have started using that a little bit.

kate1516 · 27/07/2015 13:22

I lost 1 lb which I am okay with as had a couple if bad days plus had a big loss the week before which usually means no loss the week after for me.

I had a fitbit one and loved it. I have a sedentary job and a toddler who hates his buggy so I do need a push to go walking. It also synced with weight watchers to give me how many activity points I earned which I like. Unfortunately it fell off on a walk a few months back and I couldn't find it when retracing my steps. Have been hesitating to buy a new one as it is quite expensive. The last one was a gift. I quite like seeing the numbers though as no hiding from the truth then.

kate1516 · 27/07/2015 13:24

Oh having reread my post, just want to say I do take my toddler out lots but it tends to be a case of walking very very slowly or me standing still while he runs laps around me. Not great for my fitness but good for his Grin

Lucked · 27/07/2015 15:34

I am down 1.5lbs to just under 12st2. Very happy as Saturday was awful in that I ate loads of crap as I was hungover, suffering from a cold and premenstral!! 11.5 lbs lost since starting 5:2 and on a fast day today.

Still aiming for another 5.5 lbs before the end of August.

HelenF35 · 27/07/2015 15:39

Can I join please? Need to lose about 35lbs. Gave birth on 1st July, hope breastfeeding will help me. I've already lost 24lbs but I put on a lot due to being on crutches with SPD and the fact is been on holiday just before I found out I was pregnant so was 10lbs heavier than normal for a start Shock.

RoosterCogburn · 27/07/2015 16:04

Well done Achieve, kate and Lucked and welcome to all newcomers

I've realised that to be a healthy weight I actually need to lose 45lb in total which is quite scary. I'm telling myself I've made a good start so hopefully I will stay motivated.

Helen you've lost loads already - how did you do it?

ThatsWotSheSaid · 27/07/2015 16:48

Well done Kate and lucked Grin
So hungry today but I feel good to be getting back on the programme.

well, had a bit of a bad day yesterday, something unusual and not good happened (!) so I got home and ditched my dinner plan of chicken salad, instead having a nice cheese toastie and 2 glasses of wine.

I weighed myself this morning and actually showed up .5lb less than yesterday which is interesting. Going to do a 4 mile walk today, trying to get yesterday out of my system.

FuckitAndStartAgain · 28/07/2015 11:11

Can I join in please? I am 5,5 and weigh 14 stone. A couple of years of heavy drinking and a bit of a upset with divorce have not helped. Also very unfit, I have a long term condition causing pain and arthritis. I have to lose weight. Written down like this it is dreadful.

I have done three nights without wine, plan to confine that and hope it will start weight going down. Flirting with low carb as a way forward (have ibs too so low carb should help that).
I will order a pedometer and see if I can increase what I am sure round be a very few steps.

Oh bugger this all sounds too much. Think alcohol going and divorce hopefully sorted will enable me to get going!

Cadsuane · 28/07/2015 13:15

Hi another one looking to join in. I need to get back on track as i have put 4lbs on in the last 5 weeks (Scottish school holidays so eating more and moving less). I have lost 44 lbs in total since January but I would like to loose another 20lbs or so. I am at a weight just now I was able to keep comfortable at for years but dont want to get stuck here this time.
I am 5ft 6 and 158lbs this week. Term starts back 2 weeks today and i would like to be the same weight i was when we stoped by then so 4 lbs to start.
I have been doing WW online so back on track as of yesterday but need some accountability to keep my head in the game to get to goal.

achieve6 · 28/07/2015 18:31

welcome along!

I am feeling really odd, as if coming down with something (started a thread about it in fact).

So no walk for me. Normally I would say I really need it but today I think I might fall asleep on my feet. I don't think I'll eat dinner though either!

I meh'd gently at my lunch today and then ate half of it. So an accidental very low calorie day, guess I'll treat that as a plus!

achieve6 · 28/07/2015 18:31

PS should say there was nothing wrong with my lunch, I just didn't fancy eating. Makes a change Grin

RoosterCogburn · 28/07/2015 20:22

achieve6 hope you feel better soon.

I almost wish I did't love my food so much - at the moment I'm trying to focus upon making my meals really lovely (but not unhealthy) so I don't feel hard done by.
Having stopped eating between meals I've become aware of just how much I was eating - a couple of packets of crisps here, a few biscuits there, cake everytime we went shopping, ice-cream...

No wonder I became so porky.

Upon reflection I think it started when I gave up smoking (about 5 years ago) I've replaced a cigarette with a food treat.

ThatsWotSheSaid · 28/07/2015 21:08

rooster giving up smoking made me pile on the pounds too.
Tonight I made a lentil cottage pie. It was lovely. I just gave most of the cheese topping to dp and the kids and I mainly had the lentily bit. Yum.

OP posts:
achieve6 · 30/07/2015 10:41

sounds nice.

Meant to fast today but was off sick yesterday and still a bit wobbly so just going to have a normal day. I still have loads of aches and pains so if I don't fancy a walk at the end of the working day then I just won't have one.

Fever has gone, working at home so hopefully be 100% by tomorrow.

RoosterCogburn · 31/07/2015 14:50

Hope you are feeling better achieve

I'm definitely eating less - we went out for lunch today and I only ate half of my food which is unheard of for me.

I just couldn't face the full portion. In the past I've adopted an it's a treat, it's delicious, I'm going to eat it all - come hell or high water attitude.

Today I thought that was delicious, but if I have any more it is sheer greed because I'm full

achieve6 · 31/07/2015 14:59

Thanks rooster, I am better but not 100%.

I've never been able to overeat if my stomach can't face it, I would just get an upset stomach.

I will fast tomorrow but I fear another rubbish loss this week.

One reason I'd like to shed weight is I really cannot wait to have fewer clothes in the wardrobe - accommodating many sizes. Not sure if I am brave enough to chuck them out as I reduce. Not sure why I'm talking about it either when I only lost a 1lb last week....trying to be optimistic.
