Anyone else need to lose weight for their wedding?

I need to lose at least 2 stone by June.

Tbh I haven't done too bad over Christmas and haven't gained afaik? avoided scales.

I'm 5ft 8 and weigh just over 13 stone. Am a size 14. My stomach is my worst area, legs and arms are fine as are boobs.

I only want to get to a size 12 as don't look so good as a 10. I used to be really skinny when younger and hated it.

Anyone else need to lose weight for their wedding? I'm not even looking at dresses yet until I lose some.

I am slowly emerging from a pile of sweet and chocolate wrappers. 72 hours of food carnage featuring 4 double deckers, three bakewell tarts (the Mr Kipling ones, not whole bakewell tarts), a slice of millionaires shortbread, a slice of Curly Whirly cake... I'm not sure what else. Oh, lots of bread & butter.

I haven't weighed in for a few days but will do tomorrow and see what the damage is. At least if I go up I will know that the scales work. I have been 10st 4 for days now.

gotredonyou · 13/03/2015 09:40

mmm what on earth is curly wurly cake!?! Sounds lush...hope you've got it all out of your system now Dancing :)

D- Chicken & Bacon Salad x

Haven't decided yet got red . I wrote off an email to my friend in Florida asking her advice. She used to own a bridal shop and dresses for hire were altered and re altered for the brides. She would know the tailoress too.

She hasn't got back yet.

I've got 7 days.......

Meeting the wedding company Assisstant today.....I think!

Food wise I'm not doing too badly. Loads of walking so probably not losing anything . Did 5 miles yesterday in 25 degree heat up and down hills as well.

Been here 12 days and probably walked about 2 miles a day...so at least 24 miles and probably more. OH knees we're grumbling a bit last night but he's ok now.

Btw...if you don't use lavender oil for burns you need to keep some in your kitchen and handbag. I badly burnt my hand with water from a freshly boiled kettle yesterday. I got the lavender on straight away and it really makes it sting. I reapplied it about 30 mins later and again 30 mins later. I don't even have a red mark today and that was going to be nasty. I use it on sunburnt bits and if I wake in the night sprinkle/ lather it on my chest and it really helps me to go back to sleep. It's often in the holland and barret penny sale. I was lucky enough to get the 30 ml for 10-99 and the same size bottle for a penny.....twice over.i use loads of it. I wish it was an appetite suppressant lol. I'll have to find out which oil is.

FreakinScaryCaaw · 13/03/2015 11:38

I use lavender and teatree a lot. Love geranium and ylang ylang too.

I've just done yoga off YouTube. Nice to stretch Smile

Dowser · 13/03/2015 22:38

It just looks like the sizes are all out. Do you feel comfortable in it. By the time you've had food and drinks how will you feel then.

With a close fitting dress, it's not how you start it's how you finish.

I've had the same problem here when at the beginning I was so bloated. I'd put the dress on and by the time we got to the beach I looked well pregnant.

If your not going to last the night in it feeling svelte maybe send it back.

Dowser · 13/03/2015 22:40

Peppermint is supposed Tobe an appetite suppressant. So ihad a big sniff of some while my omelette was cooking.

I was just ravenous!!! More than normal I think.

Dowser · 13/03/2015 22:43

My lovely cousin passed away today. I hope the funeral will not be till we get back. I don't want to miss going :-(

A lovely man. Loved and respected by everyone he met. Larger than life and full of fun. Out of pain now . Sad, just very sad .

gotredonyou · 13/03/2015 23:15

So sorry to hear your sad news Flowers xxxx

FreakinScaryCaaw · 13/03/2015 23:19

gotred you look lovely in it. But if you don't feel comfortable no amount of praise will make you feel right. Have you getting a photo taken slightly farther back? Pics of models etc aren't usually close up are they?

So sorry to hear that Dowser. The funeral will probably be 10 days or so won't it? x

I hope so . I'm hoping it's no earlier than a week on Monday, gives us time to get back. Dump summer stuff in a heap somewhere and then pack spring/ winter stuff for several nights.

Thing is women don't usually go to a funeral in Wales. Surely that's changed now?

We finally met the wedding planners Assisstant yesterday so paid our deposit .

This wedding is actually happening. I'm wanting to do a bit of a Canarian theme. I fancy the children having tambourines with ribbons in Canarian colours....think strong shades, black, orange, royal blue, dark green, pillar box red so they can bash away to their hearts content as we wend our way down to the beach

I fancy making some bunting for the restaurant in the same colours, which they can keep when we are done. Maybe tie ribbon of the same colour round the cake. There's a little Canarian costume in a shop for my granddaughter but will be too hot for the beach. The skirts are very thick. Maybe some ribbon around her waist or in her hair. Shame I only have one isn't it?

I want to find out what wedding customs the canarians follow too, now I'm getting into it a bit more

Food was quite good yesterday

B...omelette
L...a glass of sangria
Snack..custard from vanilla slice

D..liver and bacon, mash and fresh veg and another glass of sangria

And about a three mile walk. Maybe the peppermint sniffing worked after all.

Dancingwitch · 14/03/2015 11:21

So sorry to hear your news, Dowser.

Gotred - I'd be delighted to look like that in that dress. I'd second the others though - do you feel comfortable on it & what will it look like after a few drinks? I have one gorgeous dress that I just don't wear any more as, whilst it looks great when I'm stood in front of the mirror holding my stomach muscles in, I look pregnant by the end of the night.

Another disastrous day yesterday as I ate my own body weight in saturated fat & sugar. I swear I could feel my thighs growing. I gave myself a talking to about diabetes, cholesterol etc last night & am back on the wagon today. Done a C25k run too.

Mad - I was enthused by hearing that you starred out doing C25k as you sound like a proper runner! Maybe there is hope for me :-)

Dowser · 14/03/2015 13:14

Thank you DW.

Glad you are back on the wagon.

Losing weight used to be so easy for me...I don't know whats going wrong.

I'm just getting bigger! I can feel it.

FreakinScaryCaaw · 14/03/2015 14:37

Dp has lost a stone and a half. He's been pretty strict though. I haven't lost a stone yet, few pounds to go.

dowser am so sorry for your loss, much love to you and your family xx

Can I jump up and down excitedly, I just ran 10.4 miles! #thisgirlcan go me! Longest run ever!

dancing yep I did c25km two years ago as I drunkenly signed up for 10km with the meet woollyhugs team and then thought wtf! So did it then did bridge to 10km. My running since then had been hit and miss with stretches of two or three months without running but since December have been running four times a week and actually enjoy it now. Today was hard as my hips Hurt from 8km but I bloody did it! Burnt over 1000 calories, go me!

Dowser · 15/03/2015 00:13

Your support has been incredible.

Would write more but OH making ...it's bedtime...noises!

Dowser · 15/03/2015 10:07

Was going to say that another day has gone by where food has been good.

B...omelette

L...fresh tuna salad and glass of sangria

Snack...apple

D...Canarian veg soup, chicken with Korea sauce, a smattering of chips and roasted veg, creme caramel

This was again at the restaurant where we have the reception.

We had had a good walk out at la caleta so fairly hilly. Waited ages for the bus back by which time we were freezing. Ended up getting a taxi and marched straight into the restaurant when we got out of the taxi.

By the time we had finished our meal we were shattered.....so didn't go out again.

Down to our last few days now :-(

Happy mothers day to all you lovely mums. Hope you are all spoiled rotten...especially mrs mad thing x

gotredonyou · 16/03/2015 11:09

Morning all, after a disastrous weekend of over indulging I am back up to 11'12 I know most is water weight so hoping to be less by the end of the week. My plan is to count carbs keeping them below 50g a day. 6 weeks until I have to wear the dress for my birthday.

B- Scrambled Eggs.
L- Ham & Cheese Salad with HM coleslaw.
D- HM Bolognaise on spinach. Greek yoghurt & sugar free jelly/raspberries.

SoonToBeMrsB · 16/03/2015 14:26

Wow gotred, 50g is really low - do you snack at all when low carbing? I just had a play about on MFP and can't put together a menu that wouldn't leave me starving for less than 75g.

DP swears by keeping his carb count low, the weight just falls off him.

gotredonyou · 16/03/2015 14:36

Currently snacking on a handful of almonds...The high protein and high fat keeps you full so I know I wont be hungry. Have done this before and the weight loss is as fast as Cambridge but I gave into my cravings and went back to Calorie counting which never works for me as nothing is out of bounds!! If you cut out fruit, potatoes, pasta & rice- most meal plans would be around 50g or less xx

SoonToBeMrsB · 16/03/2015 14:43

Hmm...

Low carb breakfasts always make me feel queasy because I'm programmed to have sweet porridge or pancakes first thing, eggs turn my stomach! What sort of stuff do you have in the mornings?

gotredonyou · 16/03/2015 15:16

Porridge has 31g carbs per 50g so you could make with water and top with peanut butter, raspberries, sugar free syrup? You can make pancakes with protein powder, eggs, coconut oil, flaxseed, cream cheese etc?? I like full fat greek yoghurt (hardly any carbs) 2 tbsp. of granola, raspberries & sugar free jelly as a sweet breakfast too xx

SoonToBeMrsB · 16/03/2015 15:21

Oh, I saw a low carb pancake recipe recently actually, I'll see if I can find it again.

Thanks for the tips Smile
