Anyone else need to lose weight for their wedding?

FreakinScaryCaaw · 29/12/2014 14:10

I need to lose at least 2 stone by June.

Tbh I haven't done too bad over Christmas and haven't gained afaik? avoided scales.

I'm 5ft 8 and weigh just over 13 stone. Am a size 14. My stomach is my worst area, legs and arms are fine as are boobs.

I only want to get to a size 12 as don't look so good as a 10. I used to be really skinny when younger and hated it.

Anyone else need to lose weight for their wedding? I'm not even looking at dresses yet until I lose some.

Sorry to hear about your trip to a and e , that sounds really scary.

I'm not too grand still which is a shame as I'm on holiday.

So will just go with the flow.

Had a disturbed night last night so we won't have a strenuous day today.

I've had better days.....and much much worse ones!

Crikey.....did you see Kim khardashians hair?

SoonToBeMrsB · 06/03/2015 11:27

Oh it's terrible, isn't it? She'll regret that soon enough! I went white blonde from my natural colour of dark brown and my hair was disgusting - my brother actually told me that it felt like pubes Shock Blush

It has taken me almost three years to grow out all of the nasty, bleached hair to an acceptable length and I probably have another two years until it's where I want it to be. Sob.

gotredonyou · 06/03/2015 11:32

Yep she looks awful, I was reading in the paper that she has done it because Kanye misses her blonde! I think it makes her look so fake..it least with dark hair you can sort of tell she's Armenian !

Dowser · 06/03/2015 12:20

Has she been blonde before got red.

She had gorgeous silky lustrous to die for locks...now it just looks dead and out of condition.

Sorry to hear that Mrs B. that's an awful long time to have to wait but you're more than half way there now.

gotredonyou · 06/03/2015 13:04

see i'm a natural blonde but spent two years going through different shades of brown/red/black..you always want what you cant have!

FreakinScaryCaaw · 06/03/2015 17:18

A lot better today thanks but had back ache which is unusual for me. I could hardly sleep with it.

I've been to see my best friend today and dp put shelves and a mirror up for her. Always nice to have a catch up.

No exercise as not up to it but eaten little too. I'm making a chicken curry tonight so that'll be nice - healthy too. We'll have a bit of brown basmati with it.

I've just seen Kim's hair and I like it. I don't think it looks unhealthy considering how much bleach they'd have to use. I used to have mine that blonde now it's more golden. I'm naturally dark though.

Just had a lovely meal at the restaurant we arehaving our reception in. I had Canarian veg soup. Delicious . Oh had melon and Parma ham. I had grilled hake with a salsa sauce. Roasted veg and Canarian potatoes. Massive portions. Oh had two huge pork chops, peppercorn sauce, veg and potatoes. Finished off with chocolate creme caramel.

It was just under €10 each that's £7-69 each. Bargain. Even beer was only €2 a glass.. That's £153 for food for twenty of us, although the little onEs will only have the children's menu.

Will probably put €100 behind the bar. Although my son could drink that on his own. Kidding.

So, €300 or £230 for reception plus about 30 euro for cake isn't too bad is it? Unless anymore show up or I invite more as I'm wont to do.

Anyway was a good night. The waiter and manager were dancing to the music and were very good. I reckon they are all born with that rhythm. Salsa? Not sure.

Looking forward to it...pity its not till sept.

Although the way the weight is going, next September would be too soon :-(

Dancingwitch · 07/03/2015 19:26

Fsc - sorry to hear about that. I hope you're fully recovered soon.

Dowser - that sounds like a lovely venue.

Still no weight loss here but I am changing shape. I keep noticing bits of me are different. My jaw line is definitely more defined. No exercise yesterday as I got up at 5.30 to go to work & didn't get back until 9.30 by which time I was knackered. I was actually knackered by about 4pm which was a problem as then I had the munchies and so had a few of the haribo someone had brought in and then had some guacamole and tortilla & then a couple of pieces of quesadilla when I went out with my friend in the evening as well as a virgin mojito which would have been full of sugar. On the plus side, I did manage to avoid eating anything at the breakfast meeting, had half a scone & a millionaires shortbread at afternoon tea and had a tiny portion of chicken salad for lunch. And I had a banana.
Today hasn't been brilliant as we had loads of food that needed eating up as it was best before a few days ago. No breakfast, banana mid-morning, a sausage in a slice of white bread, a slice of quiche & a slice of pizza with salad for lunch, half a piece of ginger cake this afternoon & an apple and about to go to a friend's for dinner and she's making chilli. I did do a C25k run this morning and have walked about 3 miles.

Dowser · 07/03/2015 22:16

Thank you.

I'm perplexed. Why has someone tied a country the size of china to my abdomen?

Answers on a postcard please!

SoonToBeMrsB · 09/03/2015 09:48

Morning everyone, it looks like Monday has rolled around again. I finish work on the 2nd April and I'm not back until the 13th so I'm officially in countdown mode. Ho hum.

Food wasn't great this weekend, I feel rubbish after doing so well last week. Friday evening I skipped bootcamp and had a bit of a binge, Saturday I did a really tough bootcamp session and did well with food until about 7pm and then just started picking at cereal bars, fruit, yoghurts, leftover gammon... whatever I could find, really. Yesterday I had great intentions but we ended up getting pizza and pasta for lunch, we had coffee and cake in the John Lewis cafe and then we went for BBQ at dinner time. I feel like the back end of a bus and I'm starting to get angry with myself because I'm going to look disgusting on holiday because I've wasted weeks and weeks with poor eating.

Food today:

B: Bagel with a scraping of butter and jam, coffee
L: Ham and lentil soup, WW yoghurt, 2x clementines, Nakd bar
D: "Carbonara" - wholemeal pasta and shredded gammon with some Low Low cheese spread stirred through it
S: Banana before bootcamp

Dowser · 09/03/2015 10:37

I know where you are coming from Mrs B. I haven't enjoyed this holiday half as much as I haven't felt at all svelte. I do tend to bloat in the heat, so yes have done exactly that. I thought the extra exercise might have helped but it hasn't.

If you want to lose some weight really quickly I would switch to the Dukan diet. You could lose 5-10 lbs a week with that. You eat protein during your first few days with some oat bran to give you roughage.

Anyway it's here

www.dukandiet.co.uk/the-dukan-diet/4-phases/attack-phase

My cousin could lose a stone in a week with it and he lost 20 stone altogether over two years.

It gets a bit boring only having protein which is why you don't do it for too long. I managed four days and then you can bring in vegetables which then it starts to slow down . Anyway see what you think. I didn't get right to the stabilisation phase which I think is what happens with many people .

I've been given some Ayurvedic by my therapist over here to help with my poor digestion. One of its benefits is it also helps with weight loss. I'm not going to say what it is until I try it myself. I'm also taking another concoction which is supposed to help with cravings and supposed to stabilise our hormonal system( its all natural btw) . Again if I have any success I'll give you the dibs on it. I can say that my appetite has reduced somewhat but that could be because I've had a poorly tum. I was fine before I came out so I may have picked something up on the plane or it might just be I have a lot of stress with what is going on at home and now I'm away my body decides to release it. Anyway, am sleeping well and feeling good right now.

Good luck mrs B with whichever diet you choose. You will get there. Have a good day everyone.

Dowser · 09/03/2015 10:38

Ayurvedic medecine...Doh

SoonToBeMrsB · 09/03/2015 11:05

Funny you should mention that, I've just started (literally, as in ten minutes ago!) a "teatox", which is a 28-day natural cleanse using teas. There are skeptics out there but loads of positive reviews and photos on Instagram. You drink the morning tea every day and the night tea every other night. The morning one contains caffeine and natural appetite suppressants and the night one has a gentle laxative effect to get things moving.

Obviously it doesn't "make" you lose weight but I'm not a regular bathroom-goer (sorry for TMI!) so I'm constantly bloated and sluggish. Even if it helps with that feeling it will be worth it, I'm not looking for a weight loss miracle!

Dowser · 09/03/2015 12:28

Glad you raised that point mrs B, I was hoping someone other than me would lol.

It's sooo important to get clear. This Ayurvedic stuff is made from fruit. I also take soft figs to keep things moving normally.

I think just feeling lighter inside makes you feel a lot better. I also drink a herb tea I get from Tiger in Cardiff, fabulous store. It's called herb tea with ginger. It's got liquorice root in it which is really good for digestion and another 19 others which is also including nettle another excellent cleanser. It's made in Germany. I have a lot of respect for the Germans when it comes to health. I also make my own kefir which is full of probiotics and also helps to clear the system naturally and promote good internal flora. We also make sauerkraut, again it's probiotic rich and very simple to make.

I sound like a health freak. I'm not really but I've seen the changes in my body over the years and it wasn't good. What I could do in my 20s was just not possible when I hit 40 and at 60 plus, well things need a lot more attention.

Gosh, I'll have to get a shuftie on. I've got my last therapy today as he's off to india tomorrow so we've crammed two to three weeks worth of therapy into about ten days but I'm feeling good.

It's taken a while and I've got so much sadness on at the moment.

My lovely cousin is dying. There's no other way to say it. I got a txt from his wife as we were queuing ironically to see an elvis tribute act. My cousin lived and breathed elvis. All through the excellent performance I just had tears all the time. If I could dream and oh my god my way...that started me off....and now the end is near, it's time to face the final curtain aaaargh! There were videos of elvis on the screen and I felt sad that is own life was cut tragically short.

Live for now Everyone. Make today a good one, whatever you eat, however you spend if ;-)

SoonToBeMrsB · 09/03/2015 12:39

Oh Dowser Flowers I'm sorry things are so horrible just now.

Apologies for being the one to bring up the subject of poop but I agree that it's important to keeping everything "moving"! This teatox is also made in Germany, the night time tea contains liquorice and other natural remedies so I'm hoping that it's suitably gentle and there are no urgent situations tomorrow morning Blush

FreakinScaryCaaw · 09/03/2015 13:46

Sorry to hear your sad news Dowser x

On the subject of poop, psyllium husks are fantastic for your bowels. You take capsules 3 times a day with plenty of water and the husks swell and gently move all the 'crap' out,so to speak. All natural.

OP posts:
Dowser · 09/03/2015 19:22

Thank you.

Yes psyllium husks, linseeds chewed thoroughly. There's lots of natural things out there . No one need suffer

;-)

Dancingwitch · 09/03/2015 20:22

Dowser - I am so sorry to hear about your cousin. It all seems to be happening very quickly. You must be in shock.

A good few days on the exercise front & OK foodwise too...although would have been better had I not just had 8 or so smarties! I am very pleased as I went for a run this morning & managed to stick to my fast day (well, other than the smarties!). When I say "run", I'm still in the early stages of C25k so it was 90 secs running; 2 mins walking x 6 so only 9 mins of running in total.

I did the Shred last night and will get up at 6.00 to do it again tomorrow morning as I'm out tomorrow night.

Dowser · 10/03/2015 00:19

Thank you. I'll keep you posted.

Dowser · 10/03/2015 00:35

I love this place. It's so cosmopolitan. Today I've spoken to several Spanish people, several Irish and several swedes.
A couple of Austrians down on the beach and bumped into our friendly German owner of our favourite cafe bar.

I've had dinner with another Irishman and his American wife and I've had my therapy from my favourite Russian.

As well as several English.people.

Not a bad little haul for one day.

Tomorrow should be great fun and games as the electric water heater has just gone off! We will have to boil some kettles.

Still a first world problem. Food wise...could have been better.

Going to pay the deposit for the wedding tomorrow....eek!

gotredonyou · 10/03/2015 10:08

Sorry to hear your sad news Dowser Flowers
I've had a bad weekend food wise but back to tracking cals today. 1350 a day plus exercise should hopefully get me into the 10's by the end of April!! Tried on a crop top and pencil skirt yesterday and not happy with my shape so I either need to majorly tone or buy a clingy dress instead!
Todays menu:
B- Scrambled eggs on 1 WM toast
L- Parsnip Soup, Greek yoghurt, almonds & fruit.
D- Roast Chicken, Jacket potato & Roasted Veg.

SoonToBeMrsB · 10/03/2015 10:30

Well, onto day two of my "teatox". The evening tea was actually very nice, less herbal than I thought it would be and only slightly minty. A lot of people have reported having to choke it back but I enjoyed it.

You need to take a picture gotred, we would give you opinions! I bet you looked fab.

Food today:

B: Bagel with butter and jam (a scraping of each), my "morning" tea
L: Ham and lentil soup, 2x clementines, WW yoghurt, Nakd bar
D: Lean beef chilli and brown basmati rice, WW yoghurt
S: Banana, coffee

gotredonyou · 10/03/2015 10:40

Not sure if this works but here's a pic... I just thought it would make my waist look small and my silhouette curvy but I think I just look generally wide...

Anyone else need to lose weight for their wedding?
SoonToBeMrsB · 10/03/2015 10:47

I think you look fantastic! Shock

If I had your figure I'd wear next to nothing all the time haha. As it is, I'm too embarrassed to let DP even see me getting dressed Sad
