Anyone else need to lose weight for their wedding?

FreakinScaryCaaw · 29/12/2014 14:10

I need to lose at least 2 stone by June.

Tbh I haven't done too bad over Christmas and haven't gained afaik? avoided scales.

I'm 5ft 8 and weigh just over 13 stone. Am a size 14. My stomach is my worst area, legs and arms are fine as are boobs.

I only want to get to a size 12 as don't look so good as a 10. I used to be really skinny when younger and hated it.

Anyone else need to lose weight for their wedding? I'm not even looking at dresses yet until I lose some.

Everyone's welcome, the more the merrier Smile

Dowser are you sure that's only 450 cals?

I've not eaten since lunch but had a gingerbread latte in Thornton's cafe. We've been out shopping all day with dss. They ate but dp and I are saving ourselves for tonight, beef stew with swede, brussel sprouts and potato.

I've not been hungry but there's a lot of milk and cream in that latte.

I've been recommended the new Davina dvd, 7 minute fit. Anyone tried it?

Can I join please? Just booked the wedding for May and I'm still trying to lose the baby weight, never mind christmas weight! Ideally I'd like to lose at least 9lbs to take me down to 9 and a half stone, I'm 5"4 so that's a healthy not too skinny weight for me. Anything else would be a bonus.
Is anyone else looking to tone up as well? I'm so soft and wobbly, especially need to do my arms.

Freakin you must live near me with having a parmo for tea!

Dowser · 04/01/2015 20:43

Humph!

So what have I done since six o clock. Had stupid stuff. 5 aldi jazzies...a staggering 140 cals. Slice of ham. Slice of cheese. Piece of cornflake cake. 1 Ferraro rocher. 1 oz of ice cream. Oh yes a little bit of this and that. All counted in. Still under my 1200 but it just doesn't feel right.

So no more food tonight. I actually had a sugar free day yesterday. First for a year I bet.

(Thing is I've enjoyed it!) shock!

So now going to drink a load of water and flush the crap through!

Dowser · 04/01/2015 20:47

I know. It seems like a lot of food for calories but I've guesstimated the amount of meat , veg and roasties. The meat doesn't come in as a lot of cals. I didn't have a heaped plate and apart from the meat I left quite a bit.

I'm not eating any more...see above post, just in case I'm wrong.

Hmmmm. I wonder what everyone else allows for a gravy less, Yorkshire pudding less roast dinner with 3 small roasties and a bit of roast veg, broccoli.

Dowser · 04/01/2015 20:49

Rosebery topping and freaky...bit of a giveaway lol!

FreakinScaryCaaw · 04/01/2015 21:07

Hi Roseberry, yes I'm on the Durham coast but used to live in Darlington. Are you Boro way? Parmos are lush don't you think? Wink

Beef stew for dinner (done in the SC yesterday and heated up) with heaps of brussel sprouts, some mashed swede and mashed pots. Small glass of white wine and a bag of crisps for a snack whilst watching Julie and Julia. Great movie to watch whilst trying to cut cals eh? Grin

No more food for me tonight. I have studying to do for training at work.

Best of luck for tomorrow all.

Dowser are you using myfitnesspal? Good way to properly estimate and track the calories in what you're eating if somewhat depressing to see it mount up!

RoseberryTopping · 04/01/2015 22:44

I'm 10 minutes from Roseberry, my fave place to go for a walk Smile

I'm not starting till tomorrow, my excuse being that all diets should always start on a Monday.

Does anyone have any good recipes to share? Trying to think of meals that will satisfy but still be healthy, I'm thinking along the lines of soups and stews etc until it's more salad weather.

Don't feel too bad Dowser. You've still come in under your allowance and tomorrow is a new day.

Dowser · 04/01/2015 22:45

Yes Santa, I am.

Just done fourth day.

I don't think I've over eaten but tomorrow will be better when I'm back in the old routine

B...2 egg omelette

L....Green juice

D...Protein and veg.

I know where I am then.

Dowser · 04/01/2015 22:55

I've got a book....meals for 100 calories. I'll post a few recipes when I get my arse into gear.

Dowser · 04/01/2015 23:05

Here's apple and mango jelly

( I can't stand sugar free jellies)

450 ml/16 fl oz of clear apple juice
1 tbsp clear honey
3 tsp powdered gelatine
I large chopped mango
300g/ 10.5 oz raspberries or fresh blueberries

1 warm apple juice , add honey and sprinkle on powdered gelatine. Whisk it constantly till dissolved. Leave to cool

2 place a layer of mango and berries in a large dish or mould. Cover with the cooled apple juice mix. You can do layers but I'd just bung it all in

3 leave to set in fridge

4 cut into 8 equal portions or use 8 paper cups and make individual ones

Each portion is 60 cals

Someone might want to check calorie content. I've just taken the books word for it. I believe an ounce of ice cream Is about 60 cals, so there's a nice little desert for 120 with no nasty artificial sweeteners.

FreakinScaryCaaw · 05/01/2015 02:25

I love going up Roseberry topping. We might camp near there next year? Think it's Fletcher's farm?

Am up late as been studying for hours and hours.

Off to bed now.

If anyone wants to have new people on my fitness pal I'm always a willing companion (and il probably make you look pretty good on there as I've only been under my calories once in weeks!) just pm me as my name would out me if you knew me!

I'm trying to lose baby weight and Chrismas weight, my dp is getting a bit porkie as well.. Any good websites for healthy recipes that won't break the bank? We are on a very tight budget of £25 a week for 2 adults and a 2yo :/

Dowser · 05/01/2015 08:58

Wow that is a tight budget. To lose weight I up my protein and that is the food group that costs. I don't eat wheat so can't fill up on bread/ pasta.

Even rice and oats gave gluten in so I eat them sparingly, so I'm really wondering what your days food looks like and what you can cut out or down on to lose weight.

Do you like fish? I'm thinking tinned mackerel and sardines. A tin of sardines in tomato sauce on a piece of toast may be enough for a lunch if you aren't gluten free..

Meals using pulses could provide cheap protein.

Lean mince would make a tasty shepherds pie and stretches.

I suppose vegetarian type meals would be the way forward. Lots of veg and pulse based soups and stews.

FreakinScaryCaaw · 05/01/2015 09:14

Fluffy, if you don't have a slow cooker I'd recommend one. You can cook vegetarian and meat based dishes in it. Also you can use cheap cuts of meat as they go very tender with the slow cooking.

Fish trimmings make nice fish pies with plenty carrots etc.. Or make fishcakes.

Agree with pulses, they're good alone or mixed in to fill out meat.

This recipe is gorgeous and can be made cheaply. You can save some to freeze or use another day.

No food yet for me today. I've been rushing around getting lads off to school and college. Am in work at 11 to hand in work and be set next lot. Off rest of the day but will be cleaning a lot. And eating healthily Smile

Just downed a gorgeous, meaty 2 organic egg omelette with lightly fried onions inside. After last nights sugar and sodium fest it has hit the right spot.

Right, that's it, I'm not eating again until lunchtime.

FluffyRedSocks · 05/01/2015 09:58

Tinned fish is a good idea!
We are saving for a mortgage and the wedding, and have just had dc2, so hopefully won't be this tight forever!

I do have a slow cooker, I can't seem to make anything taste nice in it though! And I really struggle to find veggie recipes for it!

Cocoaone · 05/01/2015 10:44

Day 1 and so far so good - although obviously it's only 10am lol. Evening snacking is my downfall.... but I'm going to the gym tonight.

Don't often eat breakast but I had a snack pack of dates just now to keep me going until lunch.
Lunch will probably be a mushroom omlette, tea will probably be spag bol (for DD) and just the meat and veg for me.

Fluffy - same here, everything I try in my slowcooker tastes the same!

FreakinScaryCaaw · 05/01/2015 13:48

Is your slow cooker a metal one or ceramic? My old one is ceramic and everything had a weird taste to it. My Morphy Richards one is amazing. You can brown on the hob first. Plus I reheated our beef stew in it last night on the hob. And!!! everything tastes lush.

Some Vegetarian slow cooker recipes here.

B - few nuts and coffee.

L - crayfish with low fat yoghurt dressing, tomato and crusty bread.

Dowser · 05/01/2015 17:20

Aaaargh! Why do I do it?

Everything going well.

B omelette

L green juice

Snack...I Ferraro rocher...60 cals

Then my daughter turns up with wheat free amaretti biscuits and it would be rude not too. So in it went . It was the size of a very small dinky doughnut.

I looked at the box. 150 calories. So that was 200 cals gone in 30 seconds!

So I'm down to 520 Cals for the evening.

Serves me bloomin well right! 680 on four items. S'not fair!

FluffyRedSocks · 05/01/2015 17:27

I'm not sure what it is tbh, it might be either! It's an 'you are what you eat' one? My mum got it for me as a first flat present!!

I've been awful today, maybe il start again tomorrow Blush

FreakinScaryCaaw · 05/01/2015 18:09

Dowser, that's still not as much as one mince pie. I shudder at the cals I must've eaten before I looked at the box Blush

Been very good today. Had a small portion of pasta and bolognaise sauce for dinner. No cheese on top. Dry fried beef, passata, onion, herbs and seasoning and wholewheat pasta.

I'm not hungry either. Have walked past a bag of crisps a few times that are lying in the dining room. I'm not even tempted. Maybe it's because I've eaten regular, if small meals?

I may treat myself to one toffee? Wink

I'm doing ok so far, had some chicken and prawn noodle thing for lunch and some quorn sausages, beans and tiny jacket potato for dinner, have allowed dorito a cup of tea and a yogurt/apple as well if I want them....but I'm at work, and there is a room full of chocolate/crisps/fizzy pop/sweets calling my name! Must be strong!

SantasFavouriteHo · 05/01/2015 19:32

*myself not dorito! See even my phone has crisps on the brain! Grin

Dowser · 05/01/2015 20:19

Lol Santa.

You have to hand it to Mfp if you go off the rails early on in the day ..aka the minuscule calorie laden amaretti biscuit, you can rein yourself in if you want to that is.

Dinner tonight was a s,all portion of roast pork and a pack of birds eye steamfresh veg.

Back on track...I think
