Anyone else need to lose weight for their wedding?

FreakinScaryCaaw · 29/12/2014 14:10

I need to lose at least 2 stone by June.

Tbh I haven't done too bad over Christmas and haven't gained afaik? avoided scales.

I'm 5ft 8 and weigh just over 13 stone. Am a size 14. My stomach is my worst area, legs and arms are fine as are boobs.

I only want to get to a size 12 as don't look so good as a 10. I used to be really skinny when younger and hated it.

Anyone else need to lose weight for their wedding? I'm not even looking at dresses yet until I lose some.

Right everyone I've put a list together of everyone's weddings and how much they want to lose. .im not very computer savvy so if anyone wants to make it look better please feel free.

We have 21 brides so far, unless I've missed anyone out for which I apologise and I also apologise if I've got anyone's details wrong. I'm sure others will want to join and that's ok too.

We are all supporting each other which is great and I also suggest we get behind the fist bride and so on down the list. What does everyone think.

Dieting is bloody hard work and there's just too much temptation and it doesn't matter how strong your willpower is...we are all human

Anyway here it is. Maybe monthly updates...someone suggested a spreadsheet, sounds like a great idea.

Dowser · 07/01/2015 10:56

Wow mrs b what's a retro style pompadour hairstyle

Will have to google it!

Does anyone have a small budget. As its our second marriage we definitely don't want to go overboard. Simple, stylish but not extravagant is the order of the day.

Although I'm all in favour of anyone having the day of their dreams whatever that might be.

SoonToBeMrsB · 07/01/2015 11:11

Dowser, this isn't him (looks nothing like him!) but this is the closest thing to his hair that I could find on google...

5madthings - ooh, snap! I've always wanted a vintage-style wedding, I'm so excited to be having it in my favourite place in the world Grin

Anyone else need to lose weight for their wedding?
Dowser · 07/01/2015 11:33

Ah. Thanks for that. Yes, I've seen that style but didn't know that it had a name..

Very smart.

gotredonyou · 07/01/2015 11:41

Morning all, Thanks for the welcome :)
Dowser- for your stats- my current weight is 11.10 and I want to be under 10 stone before my wedding on 21.11.15 so we'll say 9.10 giving me 2 stone to lose eeeek!

Todays menu:
B- Smoothie with banana, berries & flaxseed
L- HM Spicy Veg Soup, Grapes, Handful nuts.
D- Sausage & Tomato with WM pasta, nakd bar.

If anyone wants my soup recipe it is just a chopped onion, two peppers & carrots softened with 25g spicy chorizo and add 1 tin of tomatoes & veg stock. I then blend it to a smooth creamy consistency. Low calorie but so tasty! x

SantasFavouriteHo · 07/01/2015 11:45

Today I'm aiming for

B - porridge with cinnamon and a tiny bit of sugar
L - maybe mackerel on toast?
D - chicken curry with cauliflower rice
S - options hot chocolate, activist yoghurt and an apple/kiwi

Let's see how that goes! Good luck to everyone else today Smile

Verdict on the jellies

Very nice.
Recipe needs tweaking a bit. Berries were a bit tart without something sweet stirred into them. Ie some counted for sugar or honey or maybe stevia. I'm not a fan of artificial sweeteners .

The original recipe called for mango and raspberries.

The jelly itself was gorgeous. Who would have thought of using apple juice. I packet of dr oetkers powdered gelatine set 1 pint of apple juice so no problems there.

The paper cups I used filled anout 1/3 cup.

By my reckoning they came in at about 100 cals per portion. I think a scoop of plain ice cream is about 60 cals. So a nice little treat for 160 cals. Remember that tiny amaretti biscuit I ate without checking...150 cals..gone in 10 seconds.

I've bought pineapple juice for my next batch. That might work better with the summer fruits.

Any suggestions great fully received.

Lj8893 · 07/01/2015 14:13

All your dresses are so lovely! I don't have a picture of my dress and it was a sample sale one so cant find a link either!

yesterday i had....

b- blueberry wheats as usual
l - ww veg soup
d - grilled chicken wrap with salad (was very yummy!)

once the weathers better im going to start going for a daily walk.

gotredonyou · 07/01/2015 14:42

I'm going for a power walk tonight, probably only 30 mins but keeps me out of the fridge and will burn a few cals! Not an exercise fan but my bottom half really needs toning! xx

FreakinScaryCaaw · 07/01/2015 14:43

Wow 21 brides, I didn't realise there were so many of us.

I've had a good day so far. dp and I are off work so went on over an hour's long health walk around Durham city. It's an organised walk they do every week. Quite hilly so good for the bum Grin

B - Orange juice
L - Vegetarian toastie in the cafe, brie, aubergine and something? Was lush. Tea without sugar.
Also we've just had some water biscuits and cheese, small amount. It's Norwegian cheese called Gjetost, rich in flavour so you only need a bit, and it's lush.

Am off for a nana nap now. After dancing last night and walking today I'm a bit tired.

Well done all and thanks for the list Dowser.

gotredonyou sounds like a good plan, I hope the rain stays off for you?

Oh I tried on a dress in Monsoon today, was size 16 and couldn't zip it up! I didn't like the

FreakinScaryCaaw · 07/01/2015 14:48

Ooops posted too soon.

I didn't like the neckline anyway.

I'll stick to my original dress at least it should fit? I'm usually a 14 everywhere I go so no idea why the 16 didn't fit?

OP posts:
gotredonyou · 07/01/2015 15:03

Its so annoying how much clothing size differs shop to shop..I can be a 10 in some shops but a 16 in others...they should just make all shops adhere to measurements so we wouldn't be disappointed!

I've got a waterproof hoody attractive to wear on my powerwalk, so no excuses!

MsVanRein · 07/01/2015 15:19

Thank you ScaryCaaw I am pleased - hope I can keep it up!

I'm having trouble keeping up with this thread will have to try to check in more often.

I'm trying to put together a home programme of some exercise as find it tough to get to the gym with DS and no childcare but not sure what to incorporate.

SantasFavouriteHo · 07/01/2015 15:25

MsVan what about home exercise dvds? I keep meaning to dig out mine and start prancing round the living room as childcare/work means I can't get to the gym either

dancingwitch · 07/01/2015 15:36

I'll come back & read through later...
I have had a good couple of days & thinking of you has helped me stay away from treats.
Yesterday was porridge (without the usual honey & raisins), French onion soup with the smallest slice of cheese topped baguette I could see plus a slice of bread & then a vile mushroom, broccoli & noodle stir fry. Yes, it was low calorie but it was just odd. I had a pear to snack on and drank a lot of water.
Today has been 2 weetabix, a huge apple, chicken soup & a slice of bread and then we're having chicken pie for supper. I'm clearly going to have to do some pie mining to avoid the pastry & just get the meat & veg.
I'm off to do my first but of proper exercise in about a year later as I'm going to aqua zumba. Tomorrow I'm off to a retro aerobics class. This isn't so much to do with weight loss as getting fitter but it should speed up the weight loss.
We're all eating early tonight so I'll probably have a banana after the class.

Dowser · 07/01/2015 18:23

Reading what you ate all eating it seems like there are some very low calorie eaters amongst us. You must all be starving because I know I am.

I have had my usual omelette, green juice and a jelly I made and I could eat this iPad!

Dinner is home made shepherds pie. I don't think it will touch the sides.

I was in Durham yesterday FSC. Went in monsoon as well . Bought two more dresses in BHS sale, size 14. One perfect fit one a bit tight. Loved the little girls dresses in the monsoon sale, would be perfect for my little granddaughter at the wedding.

Can't wait for the better weather and longer days. I think I'm hibernating. So tired too!

5madthings · 07/01/2015 18:27

I have davina. Dad's, very good for.toning up at home, her three thirty min work outs.one and.five twenty min workout.ones are.very good :)

Dowser · 07/01/2015 18:39

Got red on you...I make my own nakd bars. I whizz up the dates and nuts and cocoa powder and use some orange essential oil.

Don't know what the calories will be but you could make them smaller portions. Much cheaper.

Last for ages too.

The express have been printing diets all week apparently, well I pulled this one out of a paper called filling and healthy . You can eat as much as you like and you can use the suggestions for the meals for each day.

Won't print it all but on day 2 you can have
B ...banana and blueberry yogurt. Low fat yog, chop banana and blueberries and top with oats

L...tuna rice salad ...cook brown rice , then cool add diced red onion , sweet corn, baby spinach , diced yellow pepper, drained tuna in spring water, fresh coriander and squeeze of lemon.

I really fancy that

D..pork steak with mash and mustard sauce . Grill lean steak, boil diced potato mash with little skim milk, heat some oil and soften some mushrooms and onions. Add crushed garlic and a bit of whole grain mustard some quark and some tarragon. Serve with pork, mash leek cabbage and courgette.

Sounds not too bad a plan for one day

You get 49 pro points over the week too!

I think weight watchers are behind it. That's good because when I did WW years ago I was always hungry and I much preferred SW.

There's a woman here who lost. Five stone with them. There's a coupon where you can join for free in yesterday's express and gives you a free first meeting.

Lj8893 · 07/01/2015 19:36

I weighed myself earlier and i weigh 8lbs less than i thought i did!! I may have lost some weight of course as i haven't properly weighed myself this year. But the weight i am now is the lowest i have been in at least 4 years!!

so my target weight loss is now 2.5 stones!

Dowser · 07/01/2015 19:44

Excellent news.

I've found aside that people might find useful especially if you are looking for 100 calorie snack meals

It's an American site, so if you don't have a set of American cups ( I have and they were quite cheap)

Here's a conversion site.

www.dovesfarm.co.uk/resources/conversion-tables/us-cups-conversion-table/

Dowser · 07/01/2015 19:46

And here's the site, which would have been useful if I had posted it above ...Doh!

www.slenderkitchen.com/category/100-calorie-recipes/

It's based on WW principles.

FreakinScaryCaaw · 07/01/2015 20:15

Soon2beMrsB love your dress.

Dowser do you live near Durham? We're always there, we live around 20 mins away. Dsd and mil live there so we go to visit but go into Durham city all the time.

Dp and I had a long nana nap. I was zonked. Not sure if I'm trying to fight off a bug as zillions going round?

Dp's cooking our dinner, rump steak and veg. No pots as he's low carbing.

dancingwitch good luck with the classes.

I'm going to invest in Davina's new dvd. She looks amazing. Plus the workouts are short and may stop me from being bored?
