SLIMMING WORLD - WE CAN DO IT - NEW THREAD

Sparkler1 · 10/09/2006 08:11

Hi everyone. Hope you don't mind but thought I'd take the opportunity of starting a new thread as the other one is huge!

So how is everyone getting on? Are you getting through the weekend okay without too many temptations?

I have had a very successful first two days back on the Slimming World Plan. It's surprising how much I remember about it and I haven't been to group for 6+ months. I arranged to go to group with Surfermum this time round. She definately inspired me to get back onto it. She has done so well and her weight loss is really noticeable - she looks great!
When the evening came to go to group I will say that, although I knew that I must lose weight, my motivation wasn't 100% there. Now I have got my shopping in and have started writing out my food diary I am really enjoying it. DH made himself a proper greasy fry up yesterday morning - the works! And I found the willpower to say no - to be honest the smell of the grease was enough to put me off anyway.
Found the new Mullerlight yogs yesterday - they have loads of new ones now don't they? I tried the sticky toffee pudding one - yum!

ledodgyrobespierre · 20/09/2006 17:10

Well done to all the losers!

I've got my meeting tonight and we have to cook foods from around the world to take in (SW of course). I've made the bombay bhajis from the green recipe book but I didn't have any bombay mixed spice so I threw in some Garam masala, some curry powder, paprika and cumin they are ok but not wonderful lol, have made some rieta to go with it just hope I don't poison anyone! Will let you knwo how I get on re weight loss tonight.

lurcherlass · 20/09/2006 17:36

Hello, can I join in? My freind lost 4 stones on SW and that has inspired me to have a go myself. I dont have any scales , so I weighed myself at the vets and was the equivalent of 2 medium rottweilers... My mate has explained all the red day/green day stuff and I think I have the idea now. Reading this thread has been extremely useful, as it has explained all my queries about HE and syns (I've always been good at those..)
I dont go to classes, but would value the support that you gals give each other. (smile)

Freckle · 20/09/2006 18:04

LOL. Like the rottweiler analogy. I suspect I'd make 3 rather rotund Labradors - I have the same compulsion to eat too.

My first weigh in tonight. I think I've been pretty good, but getting to grips with what I should and shouldn't be eating on each particular day may have resulted in eating something I shouldn't. I've done my food diary, so hopefully that will show up whether I've been doing in right or not.

ledodgyrobespierre · 20/09/2006 18:07

PMSL at "2 medium rottweilers"! Hello lurcherlass welcome and good luck with the weight loss I hope next week you'll be reporting a loss that is at least equal to one of these!!

Freckle · 20/09/2006 21:27

Well, I lost the grand total of 0.5lbs! Still, it is my first week doing SW, so I suppose I have to get to grips with the plan. Also, I can't even do normal amounts of exercise as I have a broken toe (surprising how much that effects everything you do). As I get more mobile, I'm hoping that that half pound will increase to two per week.

yep, love the 'rottweiler' comparison too

we went out shopping yday without having lunch (how stupid was that, eh?!?!?) and we barely made it through the whole process. on the way back home i suggested a drive through mcD - and guess what ... we resisted
went straight home and had a sandwich instead!

SusiS · 21/09/2006 14:16

oh and ladies!
well done on all your losses!!!!!!!! 'thumbs up'

lurcherlass · 21/09/2006 14:25

Well done on your 3lb loss, it will be a marvellous feeling I'm sure, to have a stone loss under your belt (is that some kind of pun?). CAn anyone tell me, while I am trying to get to grips with what I can and can't eat, is Batchelors savoury rice free on green, or does it carry an extra syn value? thanks gals

lurcherlass · 21/09/2006 14:29

Freckle, I was thinking, maybe you could do an upper body work-out sitting on a nice firm dining chair. Perhaps with weights to increase it's intensity A couple of cans of beans would do (or joints of beef if it's a red day...)Good luck!(smile)

ledodgyrobespierre · 21/09/2006 14:40

Batchelors savoury rice is free on green.

Sparkler1 · 21/09/2006 19:43

Hello - just come back from my second weigh in and have lost 4 1/2lbs this week. I am so pleased. That's 6 1/2lb in two weeks. Another 1/2lb to lose for half a stone. Couldn't stay to group tonight though as going on a Mumsnet meet up in a minute to Pizza Hut. I might have got Slimmer of the Week had I stayed . Ah well.
Eating out tonight, tomorrow night and Sat night so it's going to be tricky for me this week.

Well done on the multiple lb losses.

I could do sit ups - and in fact have been doing a few - but they don't really burn the calories too much. I normally walk DS2 and DS3 to school and back each day which is a brisk 30 min walk each way and, being unable to do that, plus sitting around more simply because it is often too painful to walk, means that I am just not burning the calories I am eating. Mind you, I could hop a lot ......

lurcherlass · 21/09/2006 20:10

Thanks for that Ledo, thanks also for the cute non-chocolate Yorkie. I just realised there was a link! I was suprised there were so many sins in super noodles, if I left out the oil sachet, would that make them free? Just to say I really appreciate your help everyone X

badkarma · 21/09/2006 20:30

I had 1lb off. Just 4lb in 2 weeks. Slowly but surely As my dd says (In a very wise almost 5yr old voice) "Sometimes slow and steady wins the race" lol

Freckle · 21/09/2006 21:19

As was pointed out last night, even 1/2 lb per week is nearly 2 stone in a year. And much less likely to go back on.

Sparkler1 · 22/09/2006 15:32

Pizza Hut last night - ate far too much and going for an all you can eat chinese tonight I can see my 4 1/2lb going back on again this week.

OP posts:
SusiS · 22/09/2006 17:07

oh no pizza again last night
i will never do it

Expectantmum · 22/09/2006 17:18

Oh Susi, you will, just need to stay motivated. Did you have a weigh in last night? Still not measured myself but theres a definite improvement in my clothes and am feeling really good. Although we are having a curry tomorrow night so will probably have fruit veg and yog all day and just enjoy my curry and a couple of vodka and tonics. Apart from that I have been really good all week and have even been using a syns!

lurcherlass · 23/09/2006 19:56

Ladies, I have just bought some low fat "chicken tonight" sauces, "Country french" and "Creamy mushroom". Can anyone tell me how many syns? Also, you might be interested in a way to bulk out your little bit of mince (HEB)on a green day. I roast an aubergine, in it's skin, in foil in the oven, scoop out the cooked flesh and combine with your cooked mince. It makes it go further (in a shepherds oie) and is lovely and moist. Would probably work with Quorn too, I will let you know! keep up the good work everyone XX

dislexicicecream · 23/09/2006 22:07

country french 500g jar 22.5 red and green and creamy mushroom is 500g jar 12sins red and green .

dislexicicecream · 23/09/2006 22:09

sorry , the country french on is also 11.5 red and green i was reading the non low fat one

lurcherlass · 23/09/2006 23:31

Thanks, that's a great help. Better not eat the whole jar myself tho' eh?

TitianRed · 24/09/2006 07:51

Lentils will also make your Quorn mince go further and they are a good protein source for veggies.
