SLIMMING WORLD - WE CAN DO IT - NEW THREAD

Hi everyone. Hope you don't mind but thought I'd take the opportunity of starting a new thread as the other one is huge!

So how is everyone getting on? Are you getting through the weekend okay without too many temptations?

I have had a very successful first two days back on the Slimming World Plan. It's surprising how much I remember about it and I haven't been to group for 6+ months. I arranged to go to group with Surfermum this time round. She definately inspired me to get back onto it. She has done so well and her weight loss is really noticeable - she looks great!
When the evening came to go to group I will say that, although I knew that I must lose weight, my motivation wasn't 100% there. Now I have got my shopping in and have started writing out my food diary I am really enjoying it. DH made himself a proper greasy fry up yesterday morning - the works! And I found the willpower to say no - to be honest the smell of the grease was enough to put me off anyway.
Found the new Mullerlight yogs yesterday - they have loads of new ones now don't they? I tried the sticky toffee pudding one - yum!

Out of our class of 26 lastnight. 3 people lost weight!! So Walrus please don't feel bad! I'd rather have had that on & enjoyed myself, than starved & had a miserable Xmas!

I had 1.5lb on. The girl beside me had the same & the other girl has 4lb on. A few othrs had 5 & 6 on, so you're not alone & it means you will lose it easily, I remember a girl had 4lb on one week & 6lb OFF the next week!! It can be done!!!

mummyjx · 28/12/2006 18:22

Hi everyone. Hope your christmas was good. I am planning my "new healthly lifestyle" to begin, of course, 2nd Jan!!! (My midwife told me my BMI is too high so I can't just have midwife led care. I am a bit gutted.) So, obviously, the best I can do is have a healthy lifestyle in the hope that I don't do any more damage than necessary ... I have said all this before but I suppose at least this time I have a good incentive. I have my scan on 8th Jan!
Sorry to sound so miserable.
Well done to everyone who has maintained or lost this week - SUPERSTARS! (and to those who haven't, let's all keep going, we'll get there.)
Does anyone know the password this week? Happy New Diet ... sorry! meant Year.

Simplyred · 28/12/2006 19:26

Hello all!

You might remember I was on the thread some months sgo! I'm now a SW consultant.

Would it be ok if I dip in from time to time - I'm always interested in how members are feeling - and there isn't much I don't know about Food Optimising.

How did you feel about the price increase?? The password is Sparkling.

mummyjx · 28/12/2006 21:14

Thanks for password. Forgot to mention - I HAVE EATEN NO MINCE PIES THIS YEAR! I don't like them!!! Bye for now...
PS. Just wondered is anyone else out there doing SW while PG? Need a friend! (How sad is that...)

Mumbojumbo · 28/12/2006 21:24

Hi all

Hope you all had a good Christmas! I went to a different class yesterday as my regular class is normally on a Monday, so not on for a fortnight. I lost 1lb, which I'm really please about. Now only 2.5lbs away from target. Getting very close!

Happy new year to everyone.
mj

BigHotMamaClaus · 29/12/2006 13:00

I feel too guilty to chat on here right now, as have scoffed my face off like the world is going to end! Hoping to get back on track in the new year...will dread first weigh -in Oh and well done to those of you who managed to lose or maintain! I salute you all!

tiger8565 · 30/12/2006 15:13

hey, just realised my last meassage may have come across as a bit harsh, it wasn't meant in that way at all, I just couldn't imagine eating that much to put on that much weight if that makes any sense?(and TRUST me I ate a lot this Christmas) perhaps it will catch up on me next week, doh....

Good luck to you all in the new year and I hope we're all a bit smaller come next New Year

Martha200 · 31/12/2006 09:41

I went in the week and had put 4lbs on in a fortnight.. the woman weighing, had a tone as she said the 4lbs that made me feel terrible I expected a gain so it wasn't a surprise more the way she said the words if that makes sense! (everyone else in front of me had lost so I couldn't bear to hang around, as I felt like the biggest failure of SW for Wilsthire!!)
I am drinking and eating tonight too.. then tomorrow back on the plan properly!!!
Hope you are all ok?
x

Martha200 · 31/12/2006 09:45

Sorry, back on the plan 2nd Jan!!!

Hugs to all those who are feeling a bit
evil time Christmas

Oh yes, forgot to add I went to my Mums, turns out she is on SW too.. So it should have been easy right? Urr no, she wouldn't let me eat the same as her!! I controlled what I ate for breakkie, but then she served me up the same as everyone else, tasty fish pie, but whilst that was dollopped on my plate she was sat there eating veggies and a fillet of fish.. she also had a wedge of the planning sheets.. I could have cried/stamped my feet with her, was SO annoyed!!!

lurcherlass · 31/12/2006 19:35

Yeh, back on plan on 2nd.I'm finding it hard at present, with all the chocs and goodies in the house and DH the size of a whippet..He has gone up one trouser size since he was 18!!!

mummyjx · 31/12/2006 22:58

Mums are SO not helpful sometimes!
Have had to postpone my restart date 'til 3rd Jan when school starts. I have good reason - DH is having a day off work having spent almost all the last two weeks cooking for other peoples festivities while me and the kids sit at home being miserable. Would be rude to diet on a "family day" .
Am expected at my sisters for lunch tomorrow - lots of chox in glass bowls at every turn! (she starts again on 3rd too...)
Martha you have my sympathy. I had that "tone" trouble with my consultant. I thought the idea was that they have been there and are supposed to use their experience to be supportive? There's always one I suppose. Enjoy your lapse and start again refreshed (I know all the words, shame I can't follow them .
Happy new year to all - here's to a good one for all of us.

loobysmum · 31/12/2006 23:28

Well, its nearly here, so happy new year to all of you- and here's hoping the mean SW consultants who were so disapproving of your gains have put on at least half a stone over the festive season! . Although I can't get to class and so don't get weighed, I KNOW I've put on quite a bit in the last 2/3 weeks. Not looking forward to saying goodbye to all that wonderful fattening seasonal fare, but I guess you have to bite the bullet some time .....

Martha200 · 01/01/2007 08:54

Thanks for the sympathy I suppose after reading your comment, I should be pleased to say it wasn't the consultant who was disapproving it was the SW member who did the weighing.. so that's not as bad as the consultant is it?!!
Hope you all had a good evening last night.
I enjoyed a cheese board, dips and chips and champagne way too much

Mazzle · 01/01/2007 09:12

Hi

Happy new year everyone! Hope you don't mind if I join you? I had a baby boy 12 weeks ago and thought breastfeeding would shift the weight but I've realised when I weighed myself this morning I've put on 10 lbs since he was born.....on top of the 2 stone I already wanted to lose!

I did SW a few years ago and it worked for me so I thought I'd give it another go.

Looking forward to getting to know you and helping each other out with our weight loss!

Maz

fireflyxmasfairylights2 · 01/01/2007 14:27

Hi Mazzle!

Simplyred it will be great to have our own consultant! Where abouts are you?

I have been eating like it's going out of fashion here this week! But I also have assignments & coursework & exams so it's all pressure for me, & when the pressure is on I reach for the sweetie tin

Our SW consultant had a lovely buffet for us last week, she is a lovely woman & I cannot imagine her having a tone...she said she was struggling to lose with all this food around too!!

supermumintraining · 02/01/2007 17:09

happy new year to you all

went and was weighed in today and have put on 2 lbs over 2 weeks!! Never mind, it would have been a miracle if I had stayed the same.

Password for this week is "roast"

good luck to those who have restarted on the plan

JBB · 02/01/2007 19:51

Hello and Happy New Year!

I have been following SW for a little while now, I would love to join this thread as I am going it alone as I can't get to a group.

This is the third time for me - the first 2 times I got pregnant and stopped following the plan. Not planning on a third so I am hoping to get to target this time!

This looks like a nice friendly group, it will be good to get to know you all.

Best wishes

J x

mummyjx · 02/01/2007 23:31

Hi JBB. I hadn't planned on the third either, but here I am . Am trying to follow SW though, in the hope I won't get too fat as I still haven't lost all the excess from the first - he will be 10 this year! Oh well, weigh-in tomorrow. Fingers crossed for extra will-power!

Mazzle · 03/01/2007 14:17

Hi again

Is anyone else breastfeeding? Do you know if you're meant to eat extra healthy extras or anything? Also, how many syns do you have?

Thanks! I'm doing OK so far...but then again it is only day 3!!

Maz xx

StrawberrySnowflakes · 03/01/2007 14:33

dum dum da dum dum da dum da dum da dum>..off to christmas sw tonight, missed it for 4 weeks now and seems to now have put on 5 1/2lb..was only 2/1/2 a few days ago and have been only eating porridge or weetabix since as i am so sick or rich food..was thinking of not going...but think i prob should

StrawberrySnowflakes · 03/01/2007 14:37

but on a sort of plus point...the class i wanted to go to but couldnt cos dp at college, well hes decided the course is no good for what he needs and may be cancelling it????..meaning i can get to other class were i used to go and in comparrison to this lifeless consultant, shes fab!..only prob is its at 6.45..very awkward for dd..maybe i let her have a late night on tuesdays?

StrawberrySnowflakes · 03/01/2007 14:57

Hi Maz

I am breastfeeding, I know you are meant to have more healthy extras (they recommend A's rather than B's) depending on the age of your baby/stage of weaning etc. I will find the leaflet about it and type it in for you when I get a chance.

Will get back to you soon!!
