SLIMMING WORLD - WE CAN DO IT - NEW THREAD

Hi everyone. Hope you don't mind but thought I'd take the opportunity of starting a new thread as the other one is huge!

So how is everyone getting on? Are you getting through the weekend okay without too many temptations?

I have had a very successful first two days back on the Slimming World Plan. It's surprising how much I remember about it and I haven't been to group for 6+ months. I arranged to go to group with Surfermum this time round. She definately inspired me to get back onto it. She has done so well and her weight loss is really noticeable - she looks great!
When the evening came to go to group I will say that, although I knew that I must lose weight, my motivation wasn't 100% there. Now I have got my shopping in and have started writing out my food diary I am really enjoying it. DH made himself a proper greasy fry up yesterday morning - the works! And I found the willpower to say no - to be honest the smell of the grease was enough to put me off anyway.
Found the new Mullerlight yogs yesterday - they have loads of new ones now don't they? I tried the sticky toffee pudding one - yum!

Can i join too? Joined SW 2 weeks ago, lost 1/2 lb the first week and 2 1/2 lbs last week (weigh ins are on a thurs night) and got slimmer of the week!

However, i have had a VERY bad week this week and have probably put on loads - will find out tomorrow.

I need to lose 1 and a half stone to get back to my pre-preggars weight.

I am already bored of baked spuds though and have posted several times on here asking for inspiration for different meals and snacks - any suggestions here?

Expectantmum · 13/09/2006 19:47

Surprise that would be lovely!! I started last Friday so nearly a week gone. I haven't measured myself though - am too scared too!! Likewise with the weight issue. I didn't weigh myself once all the time I was pg because I was terrified how I would feel looking at the weight creaping on though - stupid I know. Am on a green day and have just had a massive jacket spud with baked beans and a little low fat cheese on top and am stuffed. Its hard to prepare adventurous meals to bring in to work for my dinner.

Expectantmum · 13/09/2006 19:51

Hi Mandymoo. Well done for the weight loss so far. 3lbs in the right direction!! I know what you mean about inspiration for different meals. I am not the worlds best cook to be honest and because I work evenings, its easier to just prepare a jacket spud with various toppings for work for my evening meal.

surprise · 13/09/2006 21:37

I tend to do mostly green days cos I love my pasta/rice. I eat some quite odd combinations, like a big plate of pasta with a tin of processed peas and a little grated cheese on top. I do a really easy pasta sauce/chilli made with Quorn and then freeze portions for later in the week. Fry an onion, some garlic, add a tin of chopped toms then minced Quorn and simmer for about 20 mins. For bolognese add loads of tomato puree and dried mixed herbs (if yhou like them) season with salt and pepper. for the chilli just add a tsp or so of chilli, and a tin of baked beans/kidney beans. takes about15 mins to defrost and heat in microwave once frozen. also potato wedges par boiled then sprayed with frylight and sprinkled with salt. bake in the over for about 30 mins - just like big chips! have with scrambled egg and baked beans yum

Well, I managed to get to my first meeting tonight and now have about 3st to lose. One hurdle is that I am away this weekend (Friday to Monday) and therefore have little control over the food available - will be travelling and then staying with friends. So will just have to do the best I can and see what happens.

Udder · 14/09/2006 11:56

Surprise: I like the sound of pasta & processed peas with cheese as I only do green days & am a big fan of pasta. I have Batchelors pasta N sauce (cheese & broccoli)and I put in some peas with cheese on top. Mmmm!

charliebrown33 · 14/09/2006 12:29

Hi all, Mandymoo, I have microwave rice with a big tub of cottage cheese on top, really filling and the rice you can just keep in your drawer at work! Or rice with mushy peas and small tin of tuna or crab (tuna or crab as a healthy extra) really filling and tasty, yum !!

badkarma · 14/09/2006 13:25

I had my first weigh-in last night and had 3lb off I was happy with that The girl beside me had 7lb off!!

By the way, can anyone tell me how to ake slimming world chips ~ The consultant was talking last night about slimming world chips and doing something qith egg over the top of them?? Anyone know?

Sparkler1 · 14/09/2006 15:50

Weigh in for me tonight. Let's see how I've done after my first week. Have been totally angellic with the whole thing except for yesterday. Had some mum's from school over for coffee (our little ones started school) so we needed coffee and biscuits for comfort. You know how it is . Let's hope the scales don't tell on me tonight.

Well my first week is nearly up and I must say I do feel much healthier for it. Although, not sure if its just me, I always feel so bloated at the end of a Green day. Does anyone else feel like this? I have had a really good week and not strayed once, and have had no syns at all, am saving them for alcohol at the weekend. Am going to a really nice Italian in Bluewater, so I can have loads of pasta (and loads of wine!!) Am allowing myself 10 syns a day - do you think that is too generous anyone?

ledodgyrobespierre · 14/09/2006 18:19

Congratulations to all those who have lost weight this week. I went to my club last night and lost 3.5 pounds and was slimmer of the week again! I've lost 10 pounds in 3 weeks and don't even feel like i'm on a diet I think i've finally found the diet for me.

Expectantmum · 14/09/2006 18:29

Well done thats excellent!!! I would be soooo happy if I could do 10 lbs in 3 weeks!

Mandymoo · 14/09/2006 19:08

Bathcelors Pasta n Sauce - are they free on green???

Expectantmum · 14/09/2006 19:17

Yes they are

Sparkler1 · 14/09/2006 21:45

2lbs off for me tonight. Will be honest and say that I am a little disappointed. I've done SW twice before and both times I've lost more than that in my first weeks. Never mind, it's a loss and I have to be positive and think ahead.
Glad I went to group tonight though it's got my motivation back, I could feel myself slipping a little yesterday.
Just had some garlic bread, an after group treat, but that's it. I'm focused on tomorrow and the rest of the week now.

I joined and I lost, would have lost more if I had truly stuck to it. I blame Mars and Carmenere.

Not saying how much because I don't want to feel confident and lose direction, IYKWIM.

Freckle · 15/09/2006 06:59

I was told at my initial meeting that you couldn't/shouldn't save up all your Syns to binge them in one go. The leader said that that wasn't how the plan worked.

Also, if you are still an expectant mum, are you sure you want to use them all up in alcohol? Sorry, sounding preachy there.

Sparkler1 · 15/09/2006 09:50

Hi Christie - still here then?
I'm surprised you are still talking to me after the last time! You know, with the photo thingy?

Syn Free Chips.. I cheat at these and cook some pots in the micro (not too much)then cut into wedges, spray with fry light and pop into oven. Potato wedges...Lovely. X

Expectantmum · 15/09/2006 17:01

Hi Freckle. I wasn't actually planning on using a whole weeks syns on alcohol!! Just meant that I can go out for a meal and enjoy a couple off glasses of vino without worrying. And thanks, but not expectantmum anymore, just can't be bothered to change my name, had my DS last June, thanks for the concern though .

Have you measured yourself yet, expectantmum? I had aday off yesterday as DP was home (one day out of 12 working away) so ended up with a takeaway curry and a couple of beers but straight back on it again today. I think the new way of thinking at SW is that you don't use up your syns on a different day. Basically you stick to 10 or whatever per day, and then if you go over one day you just write it off and start back on it the next day. (anyone still going to class correct me if I'm completely wrong please!) so you can still have your syns through the week; I always find that I seem to lose more if I use my syns. Don't know if it's pyschological or maybe boosts my metabolism, but it works. Bought a pack of Milky Ways for the children as s treat day, so I know there's one in the fridge just waiting for me to go and get it.....

Expectantmum · 15/09/2006 21:04

Cool, so I'll have a day off tomorrow Surprise!! Will still eat to the plan but I do enjoy the odd glass of vino or G&T over the weekend. Cos I work evenings I don't drink at all during the week. Not measured myself yet cos I can't find the tape measure!! We moved beginning of April and still have loads of boxes hidden in the garage that I haven't unpacked! Just gonna buy myself a new one tomorrow and have a go.
