SLIMMING WORLD - WE CAN DO IT - NEW THREAD

Sparkler1 · 10/09/2006 08:11

Hi everyone. Hope you don't mind but thought I'd take the opportunity of starting a new thread as the other one is huge!

So how is everyone getting on? Are you getting through the weekend okay without too many temptations?

I have had a very successful first two days back on the Slimming World Plan. It's surprising how much I remember about it and I haven't been to group for 6+ months. I arranged to go to group with Surfermum this time round. She definately inspired me to get back onto it. She has done so well and her weight loss is really noticeable - she looks great!
When the evening came to go to group I will say that, although I knew that I must lose weight, my motivation wasn't 100% there. Now I have got my shopping in and have started writing out my food diary I am really enjoying it. DH made himself a proper greasy fry up yesterday morning - the works! And I found the willpower to say no - to be honest the smell of the grease was enough to put me off anyway.
Found the new Mullerlight yogs yesterday - they have loads of new ones now don't they? I tried the sticky toffee pudding one - yum!

Fry light is fine if you look up onions it says they are 2.5 syns sliced and fried but this means fried in oil.

ledodgyrobespierre · 17/09/2006 21:00

I meant it says that onions have syns when they are sliced and fried too but it doesn't mean fried in fry light. In case you thought I was mixing up mushrooms and onions!

badkarma · 17/09/2006 22:56

I used fry light too!!! and then same as below, their water cooked them

I have been naughty today, but right back on track tomorrow!!

dislexicicecream · 17/09/2006 23:32

i had a grate idea today or maybe its something every one dose but no one toled me about LOL , for babybel cheese's use an egg slice thingy (for hard boiled eggs) to cut them up,
then i put them on a baked potato it was relly nice and thick and yummy when it melted, i dont normaly like baby bel's but was all i had in frige so used them as A choice,
might try to make a pizza type thing with them next or maybe cheese on toast,

JJoanneuk · 18/09/2006 09:53

Well folks I know a few of us step on the scales tonight, so heres hoping we have all had a result , hopefully a loss

I have decided not to weigh myself at hope , I cant cope with the fluctuating and most prob incorrect scale readings , so ive just tossed mine out, I will just have to wait for Mondays,
The support on here is terrific , I will post back after class this evening , with good news I hope

Bean Chilli. Free on Green.
1 large onion, chopped
1x tin Heinz Mean Beanz Sweet Chilli
1x tin Cannellini Beans
1x tin Kidney Beans in Chilli Sauce

Chilli powder
1 tsp mixed herbs

Put all 4 tins into a big saucepan with the onion, give it a stir. Bring to the boil and simmer until thick.
Season with chilli powder and mixed herbs to taste. Serve on a nice big bed of boiled rice.
(Really Really lovely. I also pop in some cooked potatoes when ready).

Udder · 18/09/2006 12:43

Sorry... how you get on

SusiS · 18/09/2006 15:16

udder funny enough that's what we are having for dinner tonight - with lots of rice so we'll have a stuffed tummy

i ditched my 'real' oil and do everything in fry light now! and for very nice fillets and chicken breasts i've got myself a very nice 'healthy grill'! mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Udder · 18/09/2006 15:53

SusiS Do you make it the same way? as I cheat a little cos its easier. I'm glad someone else likes it. We have it once a week.

Sparkler1 · 18/09/2006 17:29

we're having pasta with an onion, mushroom, garlic and quark sauce tonight I hope it will taste ok. I bought tonnes of quark in a SW frenzy and haven't even tasted it before but now it needs eating!

Expectantmum · 18/09/2006 17:35

Hi All, can I just ask a really stupid question? Is it important that I have my syns every day? I allow myself 10 syns a day but never use them. I had none last week at all but had a meal out and about 5 glasses of wine on Saturday, so just wondered whether I may have done more harm than good doing it this way? I cannot attend a meeting because I work evenings and all the local meetings are in the evening, so I am going it alone with your support!

ledodgyrobespierre · 18/09/2006 17:35

Tell you what is strange in the SW book it says for your Green B group HE you can have 2 ryvita dark rye/original/sesame then underneath it says you can have 4 ryvita dark rye/original/sesame. What's that all about? It does have an S for speed food next to the 2 ryvita so does that mean if you only have 2 as a He instead of 4 it's a speed food? I would have thought a speed food was a speed food whatever, it's on page 43 of your food optimising book.

Sparkler1 · 18/09/2006 17:36

I've just been really norty. My sister came round earlier and brought some cream cakes with her. I didn't have one then but just have now. She left them behind and it was calling me. I was so hungry and I ate it. Whoops!

OP posts:
badkarma · 18/09/2006 22:38

EM I was wondering the same. I had only 1 or 2 syns a day on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, but we went for that meal on Sunday and I'm sure I went over my syns, even though I had plenty of spuds, carrots and cabbage and peas, I also had a slice of turkey (HE) and about 4 spoonfuls of gravy.... I counted the gravy as syns, and the roast potatoes as I'm sure they weren't made using fry light!!!!! I should have asked the chef

I had pasta cold as starters (was a carvery and there was a hot starter too which I passed on as I always eat way too much) then had fruit salad for afters... so hopefully wasn't too bad.

I am confused as to how many you are allowed, they say between 5 and 15, and when I asked my SW consultant to elaborate on that a little she said it was up to me how many I wanted to eat... I mean, there's a huge difference between 5 and fifteen a day!

SusiS · 19/09/2006 09:52

not having a nice recovery after our hols
had pizza the day we came back (but there was absolutly nothing in the fridge!!)
and chinese yesterday (i am still knackered from our hols and just couldn't be bothered cooking and with an ill child and everything )

and had 2 fairy cakes today already

but that's IT!!!!
i've got a big bowl with fruits that's got my name on it.
i have to remind myself though to eat breakfast otherwise i just snack all day long

udder: i mostly use the recipes for a base and adjust it to our liking. i've added some leek, onion, sweetcorn and some spices - we love that one too and it's so easy and quick to cook

AngelJay · 19/09/2006 14:03

Hiya to everyone! I haven't been on for a while. Joined S.W in March this year and so far managed to lose 1 stone. Got another stone and 7Ibs to lose! Does anyone else find the evenings worse when you've ran out of syns etc. I know you're allowed to eat free food but apparently it's not great to eat carbs later in the day as they're not easy to burn off!

Hope you ae all having a good week so far!

Jayxx

Udder · 19/09/2006 14:12

Jay - I've always been told to take no notice of any other diet idea's whilst doing SW. Free food can be eaten at any time of day because it's FREE with SW. X
