SLIMMING WORLD - WE CAN DO IT - NEW THREAD

Hi everyone. Hope you don't mind but thought I'd take the opportunity of starting a new thread as the other one is huge!

So how is everyone getting on? Are you getting through the weekend okay without too many temptations?

I have had a very successful first two days back on the Slimming World Plan. It's surprising how much I remember about it and I haven't been to group for 6+ months. I arranged to go to group with Surfermum this time round. She definately inspired me to get back onto it. She has done so well and her weight loss is really noticeable - she looks great!
When the evening came to go to group I will say that, although I knew that I must lose weight, my motivation wasn't 100% there. Now I have got my shopping in and have started writing out my food diary I am really enjoying it. DH made himself a proper greasy fry up yesterday morning - the works! And I found the willpower to say no - to be honest the smell of the grease was enough to put me off anyway.
Found the new Mullerlight yogs yesterday - they have loads of new ones now don't they? I tried the sticky toffee pudding one - yum!

Hi all! My extended birthday celebrations are now over. Been out Thurs, Fri and Sat for meals so back on track today - I hope. There still a lot of cake hanging around so I need to be strong. Wonder how much I've put on this weekend?

Having been very good since last Wednesday, we were invited by neighbours to a BBQ last night. As I was on a red day, this was quite good. I stuck mainly to chicken (although don't know what it was cooked in, so there may be some syns in there) and had a small amount of couscous, plus a vegetable skewer. Unfortunately, I think I rather overdid the syns in the wine department! Ooops.

Back on track today.

Hello All, Not been very well for a couple of days.. got a horrible cold.. I've been eating all sorts of things like doughnuts, thick white bread..toasted with butter on and lots of chocolate. Very naughty I know, but feeling a little better today so will try to be good.

Udder · 24/09/2006 10:10

I was once told.... Feed a cold... Starve a fever

lurcherlass · 24/09/2006 20:39

Thanks Titianred, I will try that. Lentils are nice and nutty, I combine them with rice and smoked haddock (HEB), hard boiled aggs, peas and rice "fried" in onion and spices, to make a hearty kedgeree, which is great on a green day.We are going away next week, self catering, so I am busy planning SW meals that are easy to shop for and cook. I will be taking my frylight! Any suggestions welcome, from seasoned SW gals X

Hello all,

I have been with slimming world for 4 weeks and have lost 6lb!!!

Can any of you tell me if the Tesco equivalent of Heinz beans and sausages, ravioli, spag bog, ect is the same in sins?

Sparkler1 · 25/09/2006 20:55

OK I need your help. I have gone completely off the rails since my birthday. Eating everything I shouldn't. Doesn't help the fact that I went bak to work last week after nearly eight years of being a SAHM and I haven't got a routine going, so am eating anything I can get hold of quickly. Please give me a kick up the bum!

Mumbojumbo · 26/09/2006 09:39

0.5lb off this week. Got my Club 10 and 1.5st award last night.

Bit disappointed that it was only half a pound, but I guess it was a loss!

Need to plan for this week. Good luck to everyone!

Udder · 26/09/2006 12:23

Well Done to everyone. I can't seem to stick to the plan at the mo..

Udder · 26/09/2006 12:25

Just making my lunch... I've cut up some salad pots and sprayed them with fry lite and put them in the oven. Made loads so I can munch on them.

SusiS · 26/09/2006 12:45

i seem to be soooo hungry all the time lately

i've just made some tuna/veggie with a bit of mayo and creme fraiche - and some bread - yummy

lurcherlass · 26/09/2006 13:46

Can more experienced slimmers clear up this confusion I have? Can I have a small portion of rice on a red day and call it a HEB? thanks everyone. My clothes are feeling loser, I'm going to the vets to weigh-in on Thursday. Clear the horse-scales, here I come Ha ha

Freckle · 26/09/2006 14:47

Weighed in for my second week today (normally do Wednesday evenings, but dh wants to do something with DS1, so have changed days), and have lost 2.5lbs this week. A vast improvement on the tiny 0.5lb I lost on my first week (and I'm a day early), so feeling better about things. Onwards and downwards.

Sparkler1 · 26/09/2006 15:20

lurcherlass - As far as I can see, going by the book, rice on a red day has to counted as syns. Pilau 28g cooked is 2 syns.
Wholegrain, all types 28g boiled 2 syns or 28g dry is 5 syns.
You can have 100g wholemeal pasta as a healthy B.

Hiya - I'm quite new to MN but have been a target SW member for over a year - I lost a total of 4 stone. .

It took me months to find out that you can't have rice as a HE - the reason being that it doesn't contain enough fibre - even brown rice!

HTH best wishes, Fred

Good luck with your weight loss

lurcherlass · 26/09/2006 23:07

Thanks Sparkler, I think, in that case, I just fell off the straight and narrow! Never mind, off to the vets on Thursday and feeling optimistic LOL

LAW103 · 26/09/2006 23:11

Hi All

I've just joined SW and need help! It just isn't working - I don't think I've quite got my head around it yet. Does anyone have any tips on where to start? I've bought lots of books but when I decided to write out a weeks menus so that I could do the shopping it just seemed too complicated - is it still pregnancy brain or is it complicated?

SusiS · 27/09/2006 07:03

morning!
week is going allright.
had a lovely grilled chicken with sweetcorn and cheese

re tips: it took me good 2 weeks to get my head around it and work a mealplan out. so keep trying it all will fall in place!
breakfast will be the same probably so no need to think there.
then think of your mainmeal and plan that
and then a light 3rd meal
i also wrote down a list with syns i'd want to eat most - helped me with the counting! hth

Mandymoo · 27/09/2006 09:56

I am also struggling atm - i know we are all mums on here but with 3.9 and 4 month old, mealtimes are a tad traumatic at the best of times and i can feel myself slipping in favour of an easy life (ie, fish and chips, indian etc etc). I am determined to do it though - just need to get re-motivated! Weigh in tomorrow night and i know i will have put on but then hopefully it will be a clean slate and start afresh on Friday!! Good luck everyone!

lurcherlass · 27/09/2006 13:47

Hello Law, I thought it was complicated until I actually started and I soon realised that the basic guidleines were easy to remember. The challenge is, I think, to be creative and keep it interesting. The temptation was, for me at least, to eat very plainly, so I didnt have to dream up a new recipe every day, which was me being lazy.I soon found that very boring and started looking for recipe ideas on this forum and also in SW magazine. It keeps it simple in that I prepare meals that DH and number 1 son will eat too. Once you start I think you will come to know whether you prefer a red to a green day and develop favourite recipes that fit with that plan. I decided to just do green for the first week, until I had got the hang of that, before trying a red day. That might work for you?I have to confess glas, that I can't abide the Quorn susages, can anyone suggest an alternative for a green day? X

ledodgyrobespierre · 27/09/2006 13:50

Have you tried the quorn cumberland sausages? They sell them in tescos and they're nicer than the plain ones.
