SLIMMING WORLD - WE CAN DO IT - NEW THREAD

Hi everyone. Hope you don't mind but thought I'd take the opportunity of starting a new thread as the other one is huge!

So how is everyone getting on? Are you getting through the weekend okay without too many temptations?

I have had a very successful first two days back on the Slimming World Plan. It's surprising how much I remember about it and I haven't been to group for 6+ months. I arranged to go to group with Surfermum this time round. She definately inspired me to get back onto it. She has done so well and her weight loss is really noticeable - she looks great!
When the evening came to go to group I will say that, although I knew that I must lose weight, my motivation wasn't 100% there. Now I have got my shopping in and have started writing out my food diary I am really enjoying it. DH made himself a proper greasy fry up yesterday morning - the works! And I found the willpower to say no - to be honest the smell of the grease was enough to put me off anyway.
Found the new Mullerlight yogs yesterday - they have loads of new ones now don't they? I tried the sticky toffee pudding one - yum!

I made this on Monday which is nice. However, go easy on the chilli (or leave it out altogether) as it came out rather warm!

Syn Free Party Dip

Ingredients:
454g very low fat fromage frais
Grated zest and juice of 1 lime
1 small red chilli de-seeded and chopped
1 small bunch fresh mint, chopped
2 tablespoons fresh dill, chopped
Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper
Pinch of paprika
Sprig of parsley, to garnish

Crudités:
Carrot sticks
Sliced peppers
Cucumber sticks
Cauliflower florets
Button mushrooms

Spoon the fromage frais into a bowl. Stir in the lime zest and juice and the chilli (if using). Mix together.
Add the chopped min and dill, and then season to taste with salt and pepper
Transfer the dip to a serving bowl and sprinkle lightly with paprika. Garnish with parsley. Chill before serving.
Prepare the vegetables of your choice and arrange the crudités on a plate around the dip.

SERVES: 15-20
SYNS PER SERVING: FREE on Original and Green
PREPARATION TIME: 20 minutes

Am I the only one who has tried repeatedly to post without success?

supermumintraining · 20/12/2006 17:33

no lucherlass, you aren't. I am not getting much success either.

lurcherlass · 20/12/2006 17:37

Hey, it worked!must have had a gremlin! Anyway, I weighed myself for the first time in weeks and not suprisingly, stayed the same. Part of me was secretly hoping for a few pounds off, the other part of me was pleased, because I have been to several do's and out for lunches. I wonder if I should be cutting down on my syns (after Crimble of course!). Ive been having the full 15 every day, although according to the weight tables I am probably 3 stone overweight (and yet I am 5ft 5" and wearing a size 14) Am I having too many syns? What do you gals reckon?
Thanks for the password and dip recipes Supermum and Mumbo!!

ledodgychristmasjumper · 20/12/2006 23:27

I lost 3.5 pounds!! Only 3 more to go till I get my 3 stone award!

fireflyxmasfairylights2 · 21/12/2006 12:21

I lost 1.5lb

I'm happy!!! I hope I don't gain too much over Xmas though, or it won't be worth it. I had entered the draw to lose 7lb in 7 weeks, and I made it!! I was entered into the draw and won!!

Well Done everyone on your weight losses! We're all doing great!

lurcherlass · 21/12/2006 16:24

Clients where I work keep bringing in chocs and biscuits to say thankyou. I am OK when theyre unopened but if the top's off they look so tempting.....I think we are all of the same mind, determined to enjoy ourselves but not wanting to ruin all our good work! I can imagine us all on here in January, bemoaning our gains. I'm going to try to stay on plan and then let myself go on Crimble day. here's hoping gals!!

BethAndHerBrood · 21/12/2006 22:46

I lost a pound this week

My fruit kebabs and chocolate dip went down a storm!! So thanks for the help!
The next problem is keeping it off over christmas!

tiger8565 · 23/12/2006 13:25

good luck to you all with your christmas'...i hope the temptation doesn't become too much, I am lucky I am at work till 5 on christmas eve so do not have to worry too much about snacking (you should see my packed lunches) and the guys in work know I am losing weight and actually support me (especially when I am reaching out for chocolate etc...)

Everybody have a good one don't be miserable, make sure you enjoy it xx

lurcherlass · 23/12/2006 21:15

DH is braving the shops tomorrow for the last minute bits (brave man!). Until now we have had no goodies in the house. Safe to say, he has a list of all the naughties we fancy scoffing in the next few days!! merry Christmas girls, enjoy every mouthful!!

supermumintraining · 23/12/2006 22:51

Merry christmas to you all. Have a wonderful Christmas and enjoy every minute of it.

lurcherlass · 24/12/2006 16:11

You'll never guess where I am off to at 4pm on Christmas Eve?? The vets!! No, not to be weighed this time, one of my dogs has been bitten! They always manage to do something on Sundays or Bank holidays! Good job I wasn't "in the Christmas spirit" IYKWIM!!

ledodgychristmasjumper · 24/12/2006 17:30

Merr Christmas to you all.

ledodgychristmasjumper · 24/12/2006 17:30

Merry even!

loobysmum · 26/12/2006 20:24

Hi everyone

Hope you all had a great Christmas and synned to your hearts' content! I'm determined to get back on the straight and narrow, just as soon as the left-overs are used up!! Congratulations to everyone who has lost. Impressive - especially at this time of year!

BethAndHerBrood · 26/12/2006 21:54

Hi everyone! Have you all had a good christmas?

I am sat here eating "heroes"!! I have been completely off plan yesterday and today, but intend to exert some self control tomorrow and at least try to stick to the plan! We all went for a long walk this morning, felt very virtuous, then came home and had nuts, and cheesy biscuits, and chocolate, and cake...........

Fingers crossed for tomorrow!!

fireflyxmasfairylights2 · 27/12/2006 13:54

Beth, I was the same yesterday & on Xmas day, in fact it has been the same every day this week!!! It's ds 2nd birthday today so lots of lovely goodies!!!!

I have given myself the week off..........

ledodgychristmasjumper · 27/12/2006 13:59

Hi all hope you had a good one well I was going to give myself time off but I have got a v&D bug felt queasy all Christmas day although I managed some dinner I didn't eat nearly as much as I wanted too. Then the runs started in the night and have been here ever since so by default I didn't eat anything yesterday or so far today and I didn't eat anything the two days prior to Christmas either because I had another virus and temperature! I feel rubbish. We get weighed in tommorrow morning if i'm feeling any better.

lurcherlass · 27/12/2006 15:43

Yes, I'm back on plan today, but feeling STARVING! just like when I first started. It's like my stomach has come (very quickly) to expect huge meals, numerous snacks and loads of chocolate- Help!

loobysmum · 27/12/2006 22:20

Whoopee! Have just found a class nearby that I MIGHT be able to get to - its on one of my non-working days, but still a bit early for dp to get home and "release" me from looby-sitting. Also, if go I'll have to find out exactly what I do weigh at the moment. I've been quite happy to guesstimate it from dodgy home scales and dodgy Boots in-store scales!! (I know roughly where I am, and its not good!!)

TinselgalacticWalrusOfLURVE · 28/12/2006 10:26

I went to meeting yesterday. I had put on 9.5lbs.

In a week.

I'm ashamed.

ledodgychristmasjumper · 28/12/2006 11:28

GalacticWalrus don't worry my SW leader says that weight you put on quick is like jelly that hasn't set yet and soon comes off!
I went to my meeting today and have lost 2.5 pounds but i've been ill , would have sooner have put on and had a nice Christmas!

tiger8565 · 28/12/2006 11:30

wow 9.5 lbs...what have you been eating???? lol...don't stress too much about it, just get gently back into it..and it will soon come off I managed to stay the same so I am relatively happy Good luck to you all in the new year...

xx

ledodgychristmasjumper · 28/12/2006 11:47

I've just sent dp to get me fishcake, curry sauce and chips from the chippy i don't care if I poo it straight out again i'm determined to eat some stodge this christmas!

BethAndHerBrood · 28/12/2006 12:23

Am I the only one who doesn't have a class this week? My consultant is having christmas at her villa in portugal.

On the plus side it gives me time to lose the christmas choccie weight, but on the minus side I think, "no class this week, this bit doesn't count!"

I was doing well yesterday, big salad for lunch, made a huge pot of stew that was lowish syns for tea, then DH opened a box of lily o'brien chocs. He didn't like them, so I scoffed them.
All of them.
16 in a box.
DH had 2.

It's official, I am a greedy cow!!!! (then I had a packet of cashews)

(then I felt very sick!!!)
