SLIMMING WORLD - WE CAN DO IT - NEW THREAD

Hi everyone. Hope you don't mind but thought I'd take the opportunity of starting a new thread as the other one is huge!

So how is everyone getting on? Are you getting through the weekend okay without too many temptations?

I have had a very successful first two days back on the Slimming World Plan. It's surprising how much I remember about it and I haven't been to group for 6+ months. I arranged to go to group with Surfermum this time round. She definately inspired me to get back onto it. She has done so well and her weight loss is really noticeable - she looks great!
When the evening came to go to group I will say that, although I knew that I must lose weight, my motivation wasn't 100% there. Now I have got my shopping in and have started writing out my food diary I am really enjoying it. DH made himself a proper greasy fry up yesterday morning - the works! And I found the willpower to say no - to be honest the smell of the grease was enough to put me off anyway.
Found the new Mullerlight yogs yesterday - they have loads of new ones now don't they? I tried the sticky toffee pudding one - yum!

I dont think not eating before a weigh in makes any difference unless you don't eat all day, but you are likely to put it back on anyway...(and you'll be retaining water no doubt as you're body does nt know when it will get some more)

I think if you eat and drink as normal, go to the toilet before you go you'll be fine, and will not be putting your body in "shock" that day, so you don't have to catch up with the weight loss th enext day if that makes sense?!

I'm sure everybody has their own methods and as long as it works for them that is cool I go by the eat and drink normally on the day...then i get a fairer picture of how i've done.

As for the weighing before you go i'm sure everybody does that so don't worry. For example I know I am about 3lbs heavier at night than I am in the morning...so to see my night weight go down makes me feel much better, and i make myself mental targets to get below, obviously when it is near a stone, it is to go down below that one and never see it again on the scales. But if i am not near a stone mark, i choose it in kgs....so i know i am never gonna see 80kg again...(I hope that kinda made sense?) small things all add up to big ones

Dear Slimming World girls - help me please!!

I went to SW last year and lost about 1.5 stone - Hurrah !! I stopped going in February as the class moved and changed times and I just couldn't get there - I have to go in the evenings - and the new day/time doesn't "fit"

Anyway somehow all but 6lbs seems to have crept on again - I imagine in a sort of stealthy SAS type style - you know - didn't really notice !!

Anyway - have a wedding next Saturday - tried my dress on and it's a bit "snug" shall we say - so, without resorting to some sort of industrial undergarments - can I manage to lose 4 -6lb this week? - I got my old book out and I know I can - just don't seem to remember how - please give me a kick up the whatsit's and get me going !!

Yours in wobbly desperation xx

tiger8565 · 08/12/2006 11:32

limit your sins, drink LOADS of water and enjoy the free food

good luck, i'm sure you'll look fab xx

yeahinamanger · 08/12/2006 12:06

You see it's the Sins I have trouble with !!

supermumintraining · 08/12/2006 13:52

dont we all. My MIL has just bought a fresh baguette, it was calling me, so I had to respond !!!
welcome back Christie, sorry if you think we were ignoring you. I am feeling the same as you at the moment, everyone seems to be losing weight DH, MIL, SIL, Brother and doing great, me I am losing half a pound and then seething at the women in the group wo are doing well, then feeling guilty for being so petty !!

lurcherlass · 08/12/2006 20:16

You know me and how lazy I am. If it comes in a packet or a tin, I'm up for it. Well today I made up a packet of "Beanfeast" bolognese flavour, only 4 syns the lot. The texture is similar to Quorn, but no chopping or prep needed, just add water. I made a big pan of pasta and ladelled the beanfeast over- very filling and quite tasty too! Hey, still dont know what to do with my Refried beans (apart from the obvoius, which'd make my eyes water...)

BethAndHerBrood · 09/12/2006 08:35

Hi ladies!
I lost a pound at class this week. I don't think I shall make my 3.5 stone award by christmas, but I shouldn't be far away. I just need to try and keep the chrimbo damage down to a minimum. How are you all planning to cope over christmas? I am worried I will pile a load of weight back on, and it's always harder to shift second time around! Although because DH is doing the plan as well, I find we have less nibbly stuff in the house, so there isn't as much temptation! Long may it continue!!

zookeeper · 09/12/2006 14:30

can anyone tell me please how many syns in uncle ben's express rice pouches(mexican)

lurcherlass · 09/12/2006 16:01

mexican are 2 syns each. Lovely with a few prawns mixed in, 100g prawns is 3.5 syns. By the way, that's 4 syns for the whole packet of beanfeast, you'd only want a third, or even a quarter per meal.Just make the whole packet up and put it in the fridge.

zookeeper · 09/12/2006 16:04

thanks lurcherlass

ledodgychristmasjumper · 09/12/2006 16:42

BethAndHerBrood you're doing brilliantly
btw just realised that a lot further down you asked me what exercise dvd I do. I do Davina McCall 30 min workout one I only do the middle boxercise type one and it's brill.

Girls another tasty quick meal is the asda tins of chickpea dahl they are free on green you just microwave to heat up and have it with boiled rice and it feels like a take away.

BENDYB · 09/12/2006 17:25

hey every1, i lost 5pound in my 1st wk back on SW so am quite pleased! sounds like every1 else doing good too so well done!!!

lurcherlass- what exactly is beanfeast then? sounds quite good, i've just ordered some from tescos, a bolognase 1 & a mexican chilli 1, do u no how many sins in that 1??
also can i just ask what do people do with cous cous? i got a bag the other day, i've never even tried it, once u've cooked it what would u put with it?? I was thinking of roasted veg but other than that havent got a clue! & is it free on green???

lurcherlass · 09/12/2006 19:12

Mexican chilli is 3.5 syns the whole pack and savoury mince is 2.5 I'd stay clear of the curry one, altho it sounds nice, it's quite heavy on the syns.It is basically a soya product, dehydrated. You just make it up with water in a saucepan on the stove. The packet makes a big panfull and you will only need 1/4 or 1/3 of a pan for your meal, but at 4 syns the panfull you can afford to go mad! Thanks for the tip about chickpea dahl, ledo, that sounds yummee. Will have a think about cous cous.....

lurcherlass · 09/12/2006 19:19

Yeh, cous cous is free on green. For something a bit tastier try Ainsly Harriott's Moroccan Medley Couscous (1/2 syn a sachet on green) or Spicy (free on green. I think you could use it anytime instead of rice, altho like you, I have only eaten it with roasted veggies. I have heard it is possible to make it into a cake- anyone ever tried?

StrawberrySnowflakes · 09/12/2006 19:20

ive just been to lovely local pub for dinner...might give sw a miss this week

loobysmum · 09/12/2006 21:23

Hi everyone; Well Karen - I think I might have to take back my effusive thanx for ur help in getting onto the SW members website since I had an onion bhaji sandwich from Sainsburys for lunch on Thurs (bizarre, but very tasty!) Knew it would be high in sins but ..... 19.5!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAARGH! I have been catatonic with shock every since, which is why I haven't been back on! Will have to remember to check BEFORE I nosh! Couldn't even console myself with a packet of maltesers as they are 9 syns which would have made a total of 28 in one day (personal best for greed). ha ha!

loobysmum · 09/12/2006 21:31

Wow - odd things happening with the time on my computer. Think I've fixed it now. If not I must be time travelling. Bendy, meant to say why not treat cous cous like rice, and have it with anything you would normally enjoy with rice - the chick pea dahl that ledodgy mentioned would be nice with it,as would anything "curry"-ish, or fish or something as a HEB, or you could have it cold as a salad with tomatoes, cucumber, etc and a lemon/mint dressing. Have fun experimenting!

BethAndHerBrood · 10/12/2006 17:08

Hi, how are we all doing this weekend? Not too good here, been out today for coffee and cake! Huge latte and a chocolate muffin!! Lovely though!!

I bought a slow cooker the other week, and we are having beef stew for tea. DH is driving me crazy!! He's made it, and he will not leave it alone!! Taking the lid off every five minutes, spooning bits out to taste, adding this and that as the fancy takes him. When he started it ( under my instructions) it was very low syn, it's probably a gazillion syns a spoonful now, but I still have to eat it because A) I don't want to hurt his feelings, and B) I'm too greedy not to!!

I am going to try the dahl from asda this week, good tip! Thanks!!

Rooicosta · 10/12/2006 17:51

I've had a bad weekend too. Went to a dinner dance (one of my customer's) last night, which was away from home, and had a 5 course meal (didn't eat it all though) and had loads of wine. Had a cooked english breakfast (in the hotel) this morning (which was divine! ) and been out for dinner (didn't have lunch as too full) and had Piri Piri Chicken with savoury rice! !

It's just soooooooooooo hard this time of the year - temptation is everywhere...and I mean everywhere grrrrrrrr.... and there's too many parties etc.

I'm sticking to plan through the week, but may just have to accept that I can't stick to it totally over the weekend. I have another xmas party next Saturday and going out for a mexican the Friday after that!

Is is just me or is everyone else in this predicament?

babs1999 · 10/12/2006 18:13

Does anyone know this weeks sw password please {hmm}

Mumbojumbo · 10/12/2006 18:23

Nice recipe (just done it for me tea - yum!) which is FREE on green.

Eggy "fried" rice:

Slice quorn sausage, spring onion and mushrooms and fry in Fry Light. Cook and drain rice. Beat and egg and cook in wok so it's like scrambled egg. Add rice, veg and some frozen petit pois. Throw on some Chinese Five spice and soy sauce and heat it all through.
Put into a bowl and enjoy!

loobysmum · 10/12/2006 20:31

hi babs, "parsley" seems to still be working. Just went on about ten minutes ago. Does anyone know what day the password changes - I guess its the same day each week? Rooicosta, you may have blown your diet this weekend but what a lot of fun it sounds like you had doing it!! .

tiger8565 · 10/12/2006 21:21

the password cannot change at the smae time each week as we all have meetings at different times, so it wouldn't work, i think the passwords each last for a couple of weeks

don't worry too much about over indulging at parties just be good and keep to plan rest of the week, and keep up the fluid intake if not increase (and no this doesn't count the alcohol!!!!) hehe...

have a good week ...
xx

BethAndHerBrood · 10/12/2006 21:50

I've had three bowls of stew

fireflyxmasfairylights2 · 10/12/2006 22:07
