SLIMMING WORLD - WE CAN DO IT - NEW THREAD

Hi everyone. Hope you don't mind but thought I'd take the opportunity of starting a new thread as the other one is huge!

So how is everyone getting on? Are you getting through the weekend okay without too many temptations?

I have had a very successful first two days back on the Slimming World Plan. It's surprising how much I remember about it and I haven't been to group for 6+ months. I arranged to go to group with Surfermum this time round. She definately inspired me to get back onto it. She has done so well and her weight loss is really noticeable - she looks great!
When the evening came to go to group I will say that, although I knew that I must lose weight, my motivation wasn't 100% there. Now I have got my shopping in and have started writing out my food diary I am really enjoying it. DH made himself a proper greasy fry up yesterday morning - the works! And I found the willpower to say no - to be honest the smell of the grease was enough to put me off anyway.
Found the new Mullerlight yogs yesterday - they have loads of new ones now don't they? I tried the sticky toffee pudding one - yum!

O.M.G.

I lost a pound!!!!!

How the hell did that happen?

lurcherlass · 14/12/2006 12:48

Ooh Karen, 32lbs, you must be in danger of blowing away in the wind LOL Well done!!!
Bendy I'm glad you like the Beanfeast. I discovered something else too, as it's 4 syns the whole pack on either day, I used it on an original day. I started making a spag bol with loads of mince, and instead of making a sauce (all that chopping-I'm so lazy) I tipped in my ready made Beanfeast. It made a MASSIVE meal for 4 syns between us all. I'm liking it! hee hee

loobysmum · 14/12/2006 14:52

Hello Laydeez. That's a fantastic weight loss Karen! Well, I have just spent a depressing lunch hour trying on clothes - need something for our Christmas do tomorrow - and everything looks awful on me. I will have to really knuckle down to it in the New Year. Really fed up!

supermumintraining · 14/12/2006 16:25

well done Karen, 32lb is amazing. Looks like you will be buying a whole new wardrobe of things in the christmas sales!!!

Hello-I joined SW 4 weeks ago and lost 5lbs the first week but then have had 3 weekends away- the first week I put on a pound and I haven't been back since as I know I will have put it all back on and my will power had just gone!

Have just sat here with a huge tin of quality street and have now thought right- time to get back on track! So tomorrow I am ready to be healthy. I prefer the green days- what are people's favourite recipes tha they could share?

I want to lose 5 stone before going back to work in July.

Hi ronniemummy and welcome to the thread! I'm a "green cuisine" fan too. Here's what I made tonight - Chuck half a dozen Quorn sausages in a casserole dish with a jar of Chicken Tonight Spanish Chicken sauce (11.5 syns for the whole jar, but this should serve three people easily - or two very hungry people ... or one complete grubber!). Cook for about 45 mins at approx. 200 degrees and serve with loads of potatoes or Batchelors savoury rice (or both! Hey, its a green day after all!!) and veggies. Very filling and great comfort food at this time of year too

BigHotMamaClaus · 15/12/2006 10:55

Yo Ronnie, good to see you on here hun! I'm a green day fan more than red day. I love simple stuff like Jacket spuds with the pasta n sauce, or cheese and beans on toast. Lately I've doing a lot of scrambled eggs on toast bloody lovely! I'm going ot attempt to do a spanish omelette one of these days, I love them and it would be perfect for a green day. Dont worry about the chocs, we've polished the celebrations off now, 1 down 2 more tins to go lol! Xmas Grin

tiger8565 · 15/12/2006 13:57

o dear..first challenge of silly season....works do tonight ....although I THINK i'm driving so that's one less lot of sins i hope but I didnt go for the healthiest of meals on the menu, but this time comes but once a year

loobysmum · 15/12/2006 22:59

We all seem to have our Christmas do's going on tonite! Mine was a lunchtime one and had to be back by 6 to let my mum go home. (dp has his this evening) It was excellent - thoroughly enjoyed it and probably put on lbsssssssssss! Do I care?? Not a jot! Will have to get back on the wagon 2moro tho' (have to go now as can't type due to excessive alcohol consumption - still, at least I haven't fallen asleep on a railway line (yet!)).

Martha200 · 16/12/2006 09:32

My husband has his Xmas do this evening and we are booked into the hotel to stay the night and breakfast is included too!

Hmm, me thinks SW plan is going to be put to the side for 24 hrs, isn't that bad?!

Then tomorrow off to the parents for a week.. I'm hoping my mum who knows I am slimming wont try and tempt me too much and feed me fattening things

Until I sign in next, have a good week!

Martha200 · 16/12/2006 09:34

ps: how did the works do go tiger?

I have my sister minding our son tonight, before anyone gets the idea I leave children home alone!

tiger8565 · 16/12/2006 12:20

it went well....i didn't drink so that was good, although maybe a little less fun, but all round not many people were getting tipsy, so maybe me drinking (i havent't drunk for months) would scare everyone...lol...

I hadnt put on any more weight last night either, partly cuz the breaded mushrooms weren't deep fried (confused me too, hehe) nice veg wit the steak then creme brulee, although i was stuffed so only ate the bananas off the top...

so all in all went ok thankyou for asking...

i hope everyone else is doing ok too

just had my hair cut and coloured as my nearly stone pressie

lurcherlass · 16/12/2006 21:22

I had TWO do's yesterday! The afternoon one was a bit tricky, as it was a fantastic buffet which looked really tempting. I wasn't hungry, so I managed to hold back and "go for it" at the evening do. Champers to start, I was tiddly before the meal arrived! When you've been cutting down on the booze,it dosen't take much hee hee. Back on the plan today, with a red day, which makes me feel less bloaty than a green. I MUST go to the vets Tuesday and weigh myself...

fireflyxmasfairylights2 · 17/12/2006 23:36

Hi, I had a night out last night too!! Although I don't think I ate too bad as I knew I was going out & had tried to save syns all week for it.

Yesterday morning I had 2 poached eggs (free) and 2 w/meal toast (HE) so then at dinner I had Melon (free!) Creamed potatoes (free!) one tiny roast potato, turkey (HE) and loads of veg.

I had ordered sherry trifle for dessert (we only had a choice of that & xmas pud) But when it arrived I didn't like the look of it, so lucky hubby had 2 puds!!

I passed on the afterdinner mints, & was the designated driver so drank diet coke & water all night Though I do have my doubts about the diest coke as my BIL sat me a drink down & said "there's your coke" and he was too pissed to answer the very urgent question I was pressing on him.. "Is it diet coke??????"

Best thing of all was waking this morning with no hangover & no indigestion!!

tiger8565 · 18/12/2006 10:55

how nice is it to not be hungover eh? hehe.......and still have a good time? I don't seem to be doing well at the mo with the weight loss so i'm gonna drink shed loads today and tomorrow before weigh in. It's swimming night too, so should lose a bit!

Got into work today, and the trews I have put on keep falling down good that i'm smaller obviously just not so good as when I have no money to buy more!!

hope everyone has a nice run-up to christmas, and that things aren't too stressed. Don't put yourself under more pressure as you'll just feel worse and eat a lot more....

Mumbojumbo · 18/12/2006 22:11

Yay - back on track! Lost 4lb last week so I've lost the 2lb I put on the week before plus another 2lb so I'm a very happy bunny! Now only 3.5lb away from target (not that I'm likely to get anywhere near it until the New Year, but I can dream! ).

Gone from 12st 11lb to 10st 3.5lb - yee hah!

ledodgychristmasjumper · 19/12/2006 11:20

Hi everyone haven't been on in a while I didn't go to my meeting last week as I wasn't well but am deffo going tommorrow. Mumbo Jumbo only 3.5 pounds away from target that's brill i can't wait till i'm nearly there! Well girls guess what size jeans I bought yesterday and am wearing today....14!!!! I can't believe it i thought my 16's had gone a bit big so went into Dorothy perkin's and thought i'd see how far away I was from a 14 and tried some on and they fit properly comfortably fit! At the end of August I was wearing a comfortable size 20 jeans and a not so comfortable 18 so this is a huge achievement for me. I'm an 18 on top was a 20-22 but that's because of my boobs I also had those measured yesterday and it turns out i'm now a 38 E so have gone up a cup size and down 2 back sizes lol. I'm getting my hair cut this afternoon so my Christmas make over will be complete. I'm meeting friends on saturday who haven't seen me for a few months so they should be suprised.

supermumintraining · 19/12/2006 16:15

well done to everyone who has lost this week, its not easy at all. Especially ledody in her lovely size 14 trousers and mumbo so close to target.

i put on a pound, but was quite happy as I havent been for 2 weeks and have been off plan all that time, too afraid to go back!!!just goes to show, the anticipation is worse than reality!!

Does anyone know how you make a chocolatey dip/sauce thing to dip fruit kebabs in? I was thinking v. low fat fromage frais, but how do I make it chocolatey or even vaguely yummy? It's for our s.w. party on thursday, everyones taking some grub, and we're just chatting/mingling, I think! Should be a laugh, even if I do have to take all 3 of my children with me!!

ledodgychristmasjumper · 19/12/2006 21:54

You could use drinking chocolate powder (low fat) and mix that in or even a table spoon of nutella think that's around 2.5 sins.

BethAndHerBrood · 19/12/2006 22:00

OMG!!! Nutella!!!! Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm..........

Would it mix with fromage frais or is it too gloopy? (that's a technical term)

Quiet on here tonight, isn't it?

ledodgychristmasjumper · 19/12/2006 22:24

I'd probably water it down and mix with water boiling water so you can dip the fruit in and then it will set.

tiger8565 · 20/12/2006 10:54

is everyone getting on ok with their "silly season"? I'm determined to lose this week, i maintained ( i know i know, it's better than a loss) but everyone else in my group had such good losses that i felt a little left out. Anyhows our food party last night went well and I got to try some yummy new recipes...

Quick question for you all out there....hummus? how the hell do i make it? made some last night, but the consistency etc is ALL wrong....i've brought it into work anyhows, however i think the garlic is gonna stink everyone out, hehe....

Am i wrong to think it is just chick peas blitzed, with some lemon and garlic ? (i also threw in some cayenne pepper as vaguely remember that? and a bit of olive oil to thin it out?) despite my best efforts it is still pretty stodgy, what have i done wrong???

tiger8565 · 20/12/2006 11:34

or any other easy sin-free dips? another fav of mine is tzatiki...mmmm....i'm well practised in making that one....

I'd just love to be able to offer lovely dips when people come round, knowing that i can eat them too without worrying ?
