8 pounds off is great! well done tiredemma

HalleLouja · 15/02/2014 14:51

Can I join? Would like to lose a stone and am 4lb down. Took me three weeks to do that so slowly and surely. Am ww and exercising.

thegrandsophy · 17/02/2014 08:33

Well not a fantastic start for me - great weigh in equals 11'7. No change!!! At least I haven't put anything on. I have been better at not snacking this week but not strict enough on portion size. I guess it is not going to come off by just wishing. Grr. :( well done everyone else on slow steady weight loss. You are going to be my inspiration this week.

Sad51 · 19/02/2014 10:32

Can I join?

I am 5ft 6.5 inches and have another 7lb to lose. My BMI is under 25 so not overweight but at top of range.

The first week in Jan 2014 I weighed 11st 12lb and had a 6 week old. Today I weigh 11st.

I eat my lunch and evening meal on a side plate. I have cut out sweets and horrid milk chocolate. I now have a packet of crisps once/twice a week rather than every day.

I snack on fruit, yoghurt, nuts and have ice cream as dessert a few times a week.

I walk at least 30 mins a day.

I went down to 10st 7lb 6/7 years ago but went back to my old eating habits. I vow to eat my meals on a side plate or use half of a standard plate. This is the only way to maintain.

BreakingBod · 19/02/2014 14:37

Hello, I started on a diet plan on Monday to try and lose 8-10lbs. We go on holiday in 6 weeks so thought half a stone by then might be achievable. I've cut out alcohol and am sticking to 1400 cals a day. I wear a Fitbit so I know that I usually burn at least 1900 cals a day (usually a bit more) so decided on 1400 as a decent deficit.

I usually go to 2 good exercise classes a week and walk every day, although that's a bit on hold this week as it's half term and I've got DS off school, but I'll be back to that next week.

I think the weekend will be the trickiest, but I'm determined to stick to this - all my jeans and work trousers are feeling tight and I'm getting a right old gut.

Well done on all your losses so far.

thegrandsophy · 20/02/2014 10:25

Wow sad51! 12lbs in a month is fantastic. I think I was still inhaling cake at that stage. We are aiming for about the same loss breakingbod so will try and keep up. I am 11'4 today but think most of that is just water. Will be much better when under 11 (and able to breathe in work trousers!). Am going to try a little exercise today - cant decide between shred and run....

Tiredemma · 20/02/2014 15:37

another lb off this week making that 9lb since jan 6th

Sad51 · 20/02/2014 17:04

the grand thanks! I am chuffed and it is encouraging me to stick at my new way of eating.

I recommend eating on a small plate - I can eat what I want as long as it fits no piling up of food though.

thegrandsophy · 20/02/2014 20:23

I agree. Need to really watch portion size so I will try and follow your top tip. My problem is late evening snacking. Not necessarily unhealthy stuff but it all adds up. Did shred today so going to try and keep up exercise at least every other day.

BreakingBod · 20/02/2014 20:49

Bit of a fail today due to 2 for 1 offer on boxes of mint matchmakers Blush but I am just warming up this week and starting properly next week once half term is over...

BreakingBod · 20/02/2014 21:20

I promise!!

sassytheFIRST · 21/02/2014 07:54

Can I join in, folks? Like lots of you I am 5ft7 and 11st 7 - really want to be a stone or so lighter.

I recently got running again though have had a stinking cold this week so haven't run since Monday. I will go at the weekend as cold should be better by then.

Just need to eat less. Liking the smaller plate idea....tbf I do eat smallish portions at meal times but I need to watch snacking. This week has been bad as I'm a teacher on half term.

t875 · 21/02/2014 22:00

is this thread still open? I need to lose a stone, im 11 st 3 want to get down to 10 st 3! Finding it very hard to shift, i go to zumba once a week and trying to walk more. I did join slimming world but it wasn't for me, i found it very daunting weighing myself in front of other people and the whole feeling crap if i hadn't lost anything. It was massively supportive though and a lovely group just not for me.

It seemed a few years back when i went on diets and i lost weight were easily but it seems now at 40 its tougher!!

MrsPMT · 22/02/2014 09:10

Totally agree t875, when I was younger I could lose weight by just upping my exercise, now I really need to cut down on food also to make any difference.

t875 · 22/02/2014 17:25

Hi mrs pmt. very harder isn't it. I think I wAs getting really stressed with slimming world though.
Is there anywhere to chat or is this group still going?

t875 · 22/02/2014 17:27

Oh how funny I never noticed the posts before mine must have posted at same time.
Well up for this! Bring it on. Although out tonight so I guess I'll start Monday! Smile

BreakingBod · 23/02/2014 18:20

I managed some good exercise this weekend so stayed within my calorie goal, although I'm not hopeful about seeing a loss in the morning - think it was too little, too late, but I'll be back on it from tomorrow and back into the swing of things with exercise.

mummypower123 · 23/02/2014 21:09

So far 7lb lose im going to try harder now to get my weight into the 10stone plus area lol

I started weight watchers a couple of weeks ago. I lost 4.5 lbs in the first week and 2.5 in the second, so 7 lbs gone in a fortnight. I am finding the diet quite straightforward, but I do feel hungry sometimes. I think I've had quite large weight losses so far because I have so much to lose. I'm 5ft 10 and weighed 15st 5.5 lbs when I started. I think I'll slow down from this week and it will get more difficult from here on in, so this thread has come in the nick of time!

thegrandsophy · 24/02/2014 19:24

Right. 11'5 today so 2lbs off from last week. Determined to keep heading downwards as I can't fit into lots of clothes! Will be using this for inspiration.

HelloBoys · 24/02/2014 19:46

I think I'm 9 and a half stone and 5 ft 4.5.

I don't know what to do though....

Recently diagnosed with under active thyroid so on levothyroxine and due to waiting before breakfast have taken to eating:-

yogurt with honey, seeds and granola at cafe
muffins or crumpets (normally 1) at work.

I had salads last week most of the week but pre prepared M&S ones with hardboiled eggs etc.

HelloBoys · 24/02/2014 19:49

middleaged - when I tried walking (evenings only) to next train station and fast every night about a year ago (not got time to do that in morning) I found not much came off.

I could walk up the huge hill where I work as no parks nearby and only shops otherwise. maybe I should do that every day too and get trainers on. rather than aimlessly surfing the net after having lunch in lunch break

RufflingFeathers · 24/02/2014 20:12

Can I join you all ladies?
Am 5ft 7 and started out at 11'3 2weeks ago. Am quite broad (and pear shaped), so only want to get down to 10'10 or I think my chest will look too scrawny !!
Am finding the weight loss thing quite random- seems to really depend on if it's the TOTM, or the type of food (salty things keep more water with them, don't they)
Think I've lost a couple of lbs at most, weigh in tomorrow.
Could just do with some moral support - because it's not a massive amount needing to come off, think it might be quite slow !!

pegster · 26/02/2014 22:44

Good to see some new joiners, you're all keeping me motivated.
Further 1lb off this week after starting the 30 day shred DVD a few times a week. 6lb gone since 1st Jan so slow but steady

Myfirstcalendar · 28/02/2014 08:03

Didn't eat much yesterday so 11'3 this morning. Jeans a leeetle looser (can breathe...just) which is nice. Onwards and downwards :)
