Today is a big day for me, a turning point! I've always been 'big' however have just been getting bigger and bigger. I want to lose 6 stone- starting from today.

Anyone else in the same boat who would like to swap inspiration and tips? Today I've planned to eat healthily and go for a nice long walk Grin

Lego never, never weigh yourself at home. If you are doing well you eat some cake, if you have put on you eat some cake. I have banished mine now, not only were they a few lbs out but I don't have the confidence to make the best decisions. I now wait for SUnday mornings weigh in and if I have a bad or good time I only have that day to make silly choices.

Do you try filling and healthy days? I struggle a bit with them as I can't stick to just 7 points of non filling and healthy food. If I could have 10 I could do it.

We had takeaway for tea last night. We haven't had it for weeks so I don't feel bad about it. I couldn't finish it all as well so not as bad as I first thought

LegoAcupuncture · 24/08/2013 14:52

mI'm not actually going to the clubs, just doing it at home with the online app. Have been good, just a blip I suppose and won't do a midweek WI again. It's possible that I might stay the same this week. Have had the worse period, been on more or less since June and have been put on some alerts by the gp to stop them, so perhaps water retention.

I've been good all week, mainly had fruit for breakfast and have had points left over every day. Maybe that's it? Maybe I've not eaten enough?

IsaacCox · 24/08/2013 16:07

Remember everyone, there's 21 meals in a week. One bad one won't hurt and won't make you put on weight. Just like 1 good meal wont make you lose weight. It's about consistency. 3500 calories is a lb in weight, I doubt anyone has eaten 3500 calories in one meal Grin. Don't beat yourself up. Don't they say you should eat 80:20, so eat well 80% of the time and 20% not as good? Something like that anyway. Keep pushing through and remember why you want to lose weight :)

I've just had a mammoth gym session- 3 hours! And a 15 minute walk there and back. Absolutely exhausted now. Need to feel human again and the go to Tesco. Feel like I could stay on the sofa for a week though Grin

moonshine · 24/08/2013 16:16

Agreed, it's all about the long haul and not being derailed by the odd binge/planned overindulgence, although I've been there many many times myself - er, in fact, this weekend, always a weak time for me (well Friday night/Saturday).

Do you give up alcohol or still plan it in? I don't drink a lot but do like a Saturday night half bottle of wine although I managed to down nearly a bottle last night. My dcs are off to their aunt next week so I'm going to have a super-strict week then to kick-start me properly.

I have to break the task down and my first target is getting to under 15 stone - only about 12lbs to go, sigh...

Sirzy · 24/08/2013 16:57

I agree. I am having a chippy tonight but the rest of the week I have been quite good so it will balance out. For it to be maintainable long term it has to be done in a way whereby nothing is banned just eaten in moderation.

LegoAcupuncture · 24/08/2013 18:24

Great way of looking at it Isaac.

I've had comfort food tonight, broccoli and Stilton soup and crusty baguette, but still within my points so feel relieved.

Now if I can only resist the chocolate swirly marshmallow cake me and DS1 have baked Grin

I'm not a big drinker, I used to have a couple of bottles of wine a week, but it's been ages since I've even had a glass. Tempted to have one tonight as feeling the rage. These tablets are making my hormones go haywire.

phantomhairpuller · 24/08/2013 19:59

Well well, my wonderful dad is stayin with us tonight, both DS's in bed so he's ordering us to go to the pub!

It'd be rude not to have a wine or two wouldn't it?! Wink

LayMizzRarb · 24/08/2013 20:17

I was bad too this morning and weighed myself. Up 2 pounds, and I honestly have not put a foot wrong since Wednesday. It hasn't thrown me off my stride, I hope. Working 10 hours today, so haven't had anything but fruit and WW crisps since breakfast. Luckily I have healthy dinner options when I get in.
Can't give up now, cause I enjoy coming on this thread!

LayMizzRarb · 24/08/2013 20:19

Lego, I'm doing WW online, and have 41 pp per day. I do try to stay under this, and rarely use the weekly safety net points. Do you think it makes a difference?

IsaacCox · 24/08/2013 20:56

moonshine I have the odd glass. I've been buying the mini bottles so as to only have one glass at a time without opening a normal bottle that'd have to go at once Wink

You must Phantom, hope you're enjoying the pub :)

LayMizz I usually find if I weigh before my weigh in day I've put on but I've lost by the official day.

As I burnt 1000 calories in the gym, I've just had pizza, garlic bread and wine. I still have 500 calories left so I may have another glass of wine Wine'

LayMizzRarb · 24/08/2013 22:47

Fortunately, I have never been much of a drinker, so don't miss wine or anything, but I happily ended the day by wolfing down my version of Eton mess. Two meringue nests smashed up and smothered with WW greek yoghurt, and some fresh pineapple and blueberries Grin
And I'm still under 'budget' !

BirdingWidow · 24/08/2013 23:15

My problem is social occasions. I went out last night with old work colleagues that I hadn't seen for ages and drank a fair bit of wine (probably a good 2/3 bottle) and had chips and cheese fondue for dinner as we had sharing platters on the table... Bit of a disaster really. And a sociable day tomorrow too... That's going to be hard. I am not bothering to beat myself up about one evening, however awful, but I just don't know how to stay on track when socialising. I have to get a grip.

At least with a fairly young baby I can console myself that I don't get out much... Grin

Lorelai · 25/08/2013 07:08

Morning all. I have been busy for the last couple of days so haven't been around here much, but I've read through your posts and you have been having some interesting discussions. I too am guilty of not being in as many photos as I should be and I have now decided to make an effort to change that. I am determined my daughters won't inherit my issues with food, so I am trying very hard to make sure they don't pick up on my problem with my weight, or that I am on a diet.

And I also have had a minor slip up this week, with a takeaway on Thursday night, but in a way it was good as it meant I was more motivated to be good on Friday and Saturday, when I had more temptations in my way. But instead, when the rest of the family were having their ice creams on our day out (legoland), I had some fruit, and didn't feel deprived. And I am off for a swim again today, so hopefully I am still on track for a good first week.

cq · 25/08/2013 08:24

Morning all.

Lorelai - I share your determination that my DD should not inherit my issues with food, but I really struggle to motivate her to be healthy. I guess some of the 'good choices' we are now making are as a result of a painful experience but I'm trying to get her to make the good choices as a lifetime habit, from childhood.

I don't have much crap food in the house, and she always asks before she takes something, so I can guide her choices, but lately I've found myself saying 'No, you can't have another biscuit as you've done no exercise today' and I don't know if that's healthy either.

YellowCanary1 · 25/08/2013 08:50

Hi all
Been busy last couple of days so just checking in. Interesting discussions going on, I agree about photos and really try to make sure I appear in some with my dcs!
I think this is a hard time to be dieting all round, its bh weekend and summer so lots of sociable events revolving around food! I know we've been going to things solidly thursday - tuesday and off on holiday on friday. Trying to stay good is hard work! I have to be really strict on myself as if I allow treats I inevitably don't know when to stop!

SamanthaJones · 25/08/2013 09:12

Hello everyone. Had a bug and couldn't eat for several days last week. Then was told by GP to eat bland foods so I stuck to toast, sandwiches, cakes... All a big no no on low carb diet! Anyway, I'm better now, thank goodness so back on low carbs.

Yesterday I had bacon and eggs
Lobster with garlic butter (at a restaurant) and green beans and samphire
Cheese
Greek salad, sausages
Pork scratchings

Wine, which isn't great but it was Saturday night.

I'm also not in many photos but I read about someone who took photos with her child for a year and I try to let DC take them now. And I look better than I did anyway!

LayMizzRarb · 25/08/2013 10:04

Morning everyone! Hope you all have a good day.

If you choose to have a healthy option if family and friends are eating something sugary or full of fat, you ARE NOT depriving yourself.

Every day that you don't do something about your excess weight, YOU ARE depriving yourself of the healthy body and life you deserve.

YellowCanary1 · 25/08/2013 13:46

Just got in another 7k run and managed on my own, with no stops at a faster pace. Smile

Agree laymizz, I've found at all the social activities people have noticed my weightloss so I feel more pressured to make healthy choices as attention has been drawn to my dieting. Perversely it has really helped me!!

Just off to another family bbq now!

Lorelai · 25/08/2013 13:56

Absolutely LayMizz. When DH was having that ice cream with the girls, he said he felt.guilty for eating it in front of , but I really didn't feel deprived. I was making a positive choice to eat something healthy, for long term gain rather than short term pleasure, and it made me feel much happier than the ice cream possibly could have.

Lorelai · 25/08/2013 13:58

Oh and I did another 2.5k swim today, so that is 7k since Tuesday.

HenriettaPye · 25/08/2013 21:32

How's everyone's weekends been? I've been pretty good with the diet and have been doing loads of exercise so praying it gives me a good loss on Wednesday!

Meh, I have had a shit day today. Feeling really low on confidence and wondering why I am bothering which I know is daft just one of those day. I was hoping that losing weight would help me feel better about myself but its not yet.

Anyway, tomorrow is a new week and a new start!

LegoAcupuncture · 25/08/2013 21:40

I've had a bit of a cap day, but still within my points (just) and that's only because I've had loads of weeklys left. Ant wait to be off these ablest, my mood swings and hormones are all over he place.

HenriettaPye · 25/08/2013 23:04

You are right Sirzy, tomorrow is a new week!

Don't get disheartened, think how much you want this. Think everyone needs a bit of a motivation boost, will have a wee think what we can do!
