Today is a big day for me, a turning point! I've always been 'big' however have just been getting bigger and bigger. I want to lose 6 stone- starting from today.

Anyone else in the same boat who would like to swap inspiration and tips? Today I've planned to eat healthily and go for a nice long walk Grin

Wednesday for me too.

I'm doing Slim Fast for two weeks to kick start. As I said, it's starting that's my downfall, too easy to say sod it, I'll start again tomorrow. So taking food out of the equation for a couple of weeks then moving onto calorie counting and MFP.

I've lost weight before and piled it back on and definitely agree that having a day off per week works for me. In fact, during one of my times at Rosemary Clooney I mentioned that I only dieted on week days and she said that there was a school of though that agreed that fasting days and non fasting days did give results. This was years ago!

So what shall we call ourselves? :)

Hello all

I've got 6.5 stone to lose. I'm having hypnotherapy to help me with my issues around eating, and for the most part it's working. But I need to start looking at portion control and doing exercise.

Hello,Room for another?
currently childless but will be trying very soon. I need to lose 4-5 st and as i know it makes it harder to conceive, also bad results from doc's high cholestrerol and blood sugars:( Not always been this way used to be fit and lighter. so been for a long walk with the dogs and plan to do Jillian Michaels banish fat, boost metabolism workout dvd later. Alcohol is out and I am overhauling diet with fresh veg, fruit etc and cutting out the bad (but tasty stuff) but allowing myself a treat on the weekend with OH. This worked before for me, but fell off the exercise wagon early last year. good luck to all

ladies!! can I suggest you all get your tape measures out??

if you measure waist, hips, arms and bust then write it down you can compare......it really helps if the scales are sticking and you can see you are losing inches still.

so weigh....measure....and maybe look up your BMI ?

I remember the feeling when I went from obese to overweight....amazing!!

Yes always room for more!!

Rosemary Connelly was the one I lost the most weight with, I lost over 3 stone and got down to 10 stone. However that was about 7 years ago!

I'm going to have a 'cheat day' too, I will allow myself a few treats however I will still do my exercise that day! Even if its just a brisk walk!

Oh I'm not very good with coming up with names! Anyone any ideas?

What's everyone having for lunch? Smile

Ill join if I may.

I'm a bit of a yoyo dieter but it has gotten to the point I really want to lose it or face long term health implications. I eat when stressed, bit of a binge eater at stressy times which there have been a lot of lately.

Have at least 6 to lose, anything over that will be a bonus.

Lost 4 stone a few year ago and I know I can do it again.

We could be the "Avoid the quiche" quiche Grin

Should add, I am better on WW than any other diet as then I can still have treats. Tried the CWP and that worked but as soon as I ate the weight came back very fast. Carbs are not my friend, but I luffs them.

Hello Ladies.
I'm sloping nervously into your thread. I have 5 stone to lose. It feels like a mammoth task but I'm determined and I am spurred on by all ur stories. I plan to start a slimming class tomo and I'm trying to decide between unislim and slimming world. Any tips?

Report
HenriettaPye · 07/08/2013 12:46

I have no experience of unislim however have heard loads of success stories from slimming world.

Someone in my town has just lost 17 stone on slimming world, and he done it in 17 months. ShockShock

Some interesting food for thought here (sorry Blush)
I think motivation is key, whatever diet/method you use and wanting to be around for my son as he grows up is mine... I'm just having trouble starting.

Of course white wine, have u joined slimming world/weight watchers etc or are you going to give it a go yourself?

Definitely Caramel- what age is your son?

I'm starting WW on Monday. Just do it at home, have the app for my ipad and can use it on my iPhone when out and about, so quite easy no?

EnglishGirlApproximately · 07/08/2013 13:21

I've looked at SW and WW and just need to decide which one is the least time consuming! With a 16mo and working full time I just don't have the time to weigh and measure and I need to be able to cook meals quickly. I also need to be able to take a packed lunch to work and it can't cost the earth.

I thinks that's why I'm finding it hard to start. I look at the meal suggestions and wonder how on earth I can do it. I really don't want to go down the road of buying WW branded ready meals and stuff either as I try really hard to cook from scratch, I just can't imagine its a healthy way to eat even if it does help you to lose weight.

Actually, thats the crux of the matter for me. I read most diets and think that while they help with weight loss, they just don't sound healthy as they replace natural food with processed alternatives - low fat spread and yoghurt, diet drinks, WW meals, slim fast etc.

I need to find a balance between good food and dieting.

GwendolineMaryLacey · 07/08/2013 13:24

Finance is a part of it for me. If I could afford it I would definitely do Lighter Life. But that's because I have a huge amount to lose and my first priority is to lose it. Being this big can't be any better healthwise than processed alternatives. But if I had less to lose I wouldn't consider them.

whitewineintherain · 07/08/2013 13:26

I'm giving it a go myself, I'm thinking about doing Slimfast for two weeks and then doing the 5:2 but I don't know much about the 5:2 diet.
