Week 2 - Summer Low Carb Bootcamp - How was week 1 for you?!

BIWI · 06/05/2013 09:19

Hopefully you've all entered your weight in the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness and I hope that everyone managed a successful first week!

It probably wasn't the easiest week to start, what with the bank holiday, but never mind. It's a really good lesson that life and all its temptations will frequently get in the way.

Hope everyone has some sunshine today. It's perfect barbecue weather, and barbecue food is perfect for low carbing. And if anyone wants a good recipe, there's a lovely one for marinated chicken on the recipe thread

Need to properly get with the programme again.

Not eating enough veg, or drinking enough water.

Got to keep on keeping on!

Not sure if this website has been linked to before, but it is a great resource for this WOE. It has loads of articles backing up this woe, with lots of evidence for the nay-sayers. I feel like sending it to all my friends & family Grin See here. Go to the home page for lots more articles.

This article might be interesting to those who arent losing weight authoritynutrition.com/15-reasons-not-losing-weight-on-a-low-carb-diet/

BlackAffronted, that article is very useful.
No 13 'you are eating too many calories' I find confusing. My calorie intake must've shot up; all that butter, mayo, olive oil. fat on meat etc.
I understood that the whole principle was that calories don't matter provided they're not from carbs. Or am I being dense?

I've heard it described as "if you're not hungry, don't eat". Not so much a need to count calories but not to eat just because you can, if that makes sense. I'm sure someone more qualified than me will be along to clarify though.

2lbs down for me. Sybil at the end of the last thread you asked whether I was close to my target. Well I was but managed to put on 8lbs over March and April. So am 9.6lbs off my target. Going on holiday in the middle of June and want to reach target before then. I've got rid of all my big clothes so need to get back on track Grin

What Tigg said is right - it's not that you have to count calories with a low carb diet

6.6 lbs off, albeit from an artificially high first day, given that I stuffed a lot right up until midnight the day before I started.

What can I have for supper?

Have smoked salmon, tin of tuna, one egg, some salad and veg. Some normal stuff in the cupboard. Some chees but trying to avoid that a bit as I think it slows me down.

Had smoked salmon omelette for breakfast, crab salad for lunch.

Am hungry but not really fancying anything....
ANy ideas?

My dauphinois made me feel a bit sick :( Think too much cream isn't good for my tum!

Hope everyone enjoyed their day.

B - Scrambled eggs with parma ham, butter anc chicken fat.
L - Chicken leg with fried cauli rice and spinach, cucmber and cheese
S - Greek yoghurt and milled flaxseed
D - Really fatty lamb chops with bacon and red cabbage.

Am ready for bed but packed lunches and ironing work/school clothes beckon. Acually, think I'll pull something out the wardrobe which doesn't need ironing and get dh to do dd's stuff.

I've somehow lost 3.8lb. I can't believe it because I kept getting some weight army starting weight until only a couple of days ago. Since I am back from holidays I will update my food diary better this week.

B. omelette with leeks wit green tea
L. Mixed fresh kababs with salad and pickles
D. Greek salad, little portion of chicken mushroom and cheese, half a steak with spinach

Thank you everyone for the great encouragement. I never thought that I could do this, but did it and I am happy. Once this week is out of the way I will start my couch to 5k and shred (which I really enjoy). I NEED to get into my dress by 27th June.

A bit of a blip yesterday evening when at a buffet where I succumbed to quiche (with pastry). Really good today though. My weighing day is Thurs - I lost 4lbs up to Monday last week but static since then. Am really impressed by how I'm not hungry all the time - I am normally very bad at grazing late afternoon and late evening.

Well done everyone! Some great losses!

We've been DIY-ing the bathroom all weekend so I haven't had chance to stand on the scales- will do so in the morning and update the spreadsheet then

I have lost 2lb and pleased with that. Have found it odd to get into it as very different way of eating compared to all other diets and advice I have seen.
But I do feel much healthier eating this way, more energy and have not been hungry at all.

I can't work out how to add my weight loss onto the spreadsheet. I am on my iPad though, does that make a difference? Can someone please tell me how to do it or add me themselves, if that's okay. Thank you
