2013 Weight Watchers over here!

The previous thread title and OP wad intended for information only, but as a few people arrived wanting a bit of mutual support, I thought a more specific thread title might be in order, esp if there's anyone else wanting to join in. I think the cashback deal on online membership expires now, anyway.

Can you introduce yourselves with a quick summary of your aims, please?

I'll be doing Weight Watchers online only. DS is nearly 10 weeks and I'm BFing, so I get 40PPs a day, plus the weeklies. I'm not sure how easily the weight will come off with that amount, but can't cut down any further yet.

I have 3 1/2 st to lose altogether. I'm currently 12st 7lb and was 10st pre-DC after previous success with WW. I'd like to go a bit further this time.

My short term goal is to be a bit slimmer for a family wedding next month. Unfortunately I'm the gat cousin and need any extra confidence I can get.

My WI is Thursday. So far, so good. I'm snacking but sticking to my PPs + weeklies. Struggling to get much exercise due to two poorly DCs, but hoping to find time for a DVD today.

Out to lunch today with a friend. Hope to goodness they have salads or jacket potatoes! I have only got 5 points left for today, before weigh in tomorrow. I'd made a roast butternut squash & harissa soup for today, so it will have to wait....

Hi, can I join too please? I had a baby by c section 5 weeks ago so limited on the exercise front. I was about to start before I got pregnant but have managed to at least put any more on while I've been pregnant.

My health visitor has referred me so I have to wait for all my registration things (and vouchers) to come through the post before I can start but the group leader has already rung me up. By doing it this way I've had to commit to going for 12 weeks and staying for the entire meeting - they are also going to report back to my GP! I figure that I need this level of fear to keep me on track.

I weigh 5st 2 according to my scales and I'm looking to loose at least 4 stone by this time next year - preferably 4 and a half.

I did weight watchers as a student and a teenager but never stuck to it. This time, I've got 2 little boys and and fit partner and I want to be able to keep up with them. I also don't want to always feel like 'part of the problem' when the media is talking about the obesity epidemic.

By writing this, it's another level if commitment.

Can't say I'm looking forward to it that much but I am the results. I have stated to cut back in preparation for starting the programme.

This thread was an excellent idea - some of the recipes look really good.

I've had 5 c-sections so i know how hard it can be to on your body so take it easy and use every point you are given.

Good morning!

Yes calf raises whilst the kettle is boiling, it is getting much easier and if you point your toes in or out you get a different part of your calf. I have patheticcalves. I'm trying out squats too now.
It's practically the same concept that I used for my pelvic floor lifts, I used to do 5 every time I walked under a doorway. And the lifts are having good effect on how much coffee I drink...

Great minds think alike bigTillyMint! Big vat of soup bubbling away on the stove as we speak. It feels good to be getting back on track.

Tilly - I sliced the squash lengthways on half. Scooped out the seeds. Put in a dish, spray of frylight and then covered in foil. Roasted in the oven for an hour.
Waited until it cooled then scooped out the flesh into a bowl.
Finely chopped an onion and garlic. Sautéed in my le creuset using frylight. Added a pint of vegetable stock, a tspn of Harissa Paste, some salt and the roasted squash, cooked gently for 15mins. When cooled I blended it and stirred in 2 dessert spoons of 2% Fage Strained Greek Yogurt.

As I am doing the Filling and Healthy Plan, its 0pp soup! Though I think in truth, it is 0pp regardless of what plan you are following!

Vajazzler Can I have your recipe for tomato and mushroom soup? Sounds lovely.

I decided to walk to work today after the school run so that was 45 mins in total. I was yomping away listening to One Direction on my Ipod and the bin man said to me 'morning beautiful'. I was sooo chuffed (even though he probably says it to everyone) and I've had a smile on my face ever since. What a nice thing for him to do.

Good job he hadn't seen me an hour or so earlier wrestling my way into my tights. My belly just kept getting in the way Blush hence the decision to walk to work.

Well I joined this morning, and my leader has forgotten to write my pro points allowance on my tracker. Waiting for a call back from her as I need an esource code too. So I'm a bit in limbo at the moment but just keeping note of what I eat in my phone!

It's nice to receive unexpected compliments isnt it Addicted!

My tomato and mushroom soup is chunky as i prefer it that way but you could whizz is smooth if you prefer. My recipe makes a massive pot so if you dont have a big one then you'll need to scale it down but this makes about 8 big bowls

Chop 2 onions and a couple of chilli's if you like it with a kick. Fry in frylight in the bottom of a big pan

Chop a family pack of mushrooms and fry with the onions

hen they've started to brown add 3 tins chopped tomatoes, 1 pint of stock (1oxo =0pp) and a carton of passata

Bring to the boil and simmer for 20 mins

How annoying! I am actually quite pleased that I decided to do the F&H. It's so much easier than scrabbling about for your book or calculator thinking "can I eat this?" If its not on my list I don't eat it. Makes life so much easier!

That sounds great I shall try that tonight I think. Copied and pasted into my 'MN WW recipe folder'

SallyBear I has some butternut squash, sweet potato and ham soup last week and it was delicious. Do you think if I followed your recipe as above (11:58) but roasted some sweet potato too and then slung some ham in at the end it could potentially be a soup?

I'm doing F&H too as it's making me eat proper food.

Can you tell I'm not very good at cooking though Blush

Ok back from meeting, weight was 18stone 7 1/2lbs Shock

It was actually about a stone less than I was bracing myself for, so it wasn't a total blow.

I'm reading back through the thread for recipe ideas, thanks for those.

I have been given a daily points allowance of 38- this seems a lot.
Can you actually lose weight eating that many? Does anyone know?

Report
CiderwithBuda · 08/01/2013 13:30

Vajazzler - you have done brilliantly. Well done. Amazing loss. I think we were on a WW thread together before. You put me to shame!

I had lost 33 lbs but have put 9 back on. Annoying and all my own fault.

I wnt to my meeting this morning. Gained 4.5 lbs over Xmas and new year (and the few weeks before). Back on track now.

Sallybear - how can you only have 5 points left for today at 8 in the morning?! You must have had a huge breakfast! Or you have gone over your 49 weeklies and are taking them out of your daily allowance for today? They don't recommend that. You need your daily points. Make them as healthy as possible - zero point soup etc. Lots of water. But you must eat!

Report
CiderwithBuda · 08/01/2013 13:34

Magdalen - yes you can lose weight on that. You might not need to use all your weeklies though. But they are there to use if you need them and you will still lose even if you use them all every week. I wouldn't count any activity points to use though.

Report
Mockingcurl · 08/01/2013 14:08

Sallybear, you can switch between f and h, and points counting, on a daily basis. I do about half a week of each depending on my mood.

Yay, there's a WW thread.

I did it three years ago and lost 1.5 stone but have regained about 4lbs and want to lose those plus another half a stone (which was my original goal weight anyway).

B - boiled egg - 2pp
roasted chickpeans 4pp

L- chicken cacciatore - 4pp
Tabouleh - 6pp
Cucumber sticks -0pp

D - ww spag bol - 9pp

Anytime - carrots and salsa - 0pp
Maybe a glass of wine which will use up 2 of my weekly pp.

May i join? Joined WW online only yday. Did WW maybe 15 years ago, so coming to terms with new points (not yet figured out the filling & healthy and if you can mix and match that with points?).
Have already established that half a bottle of wine is 9 points (ready for Friday night). Hoping to use all my dailies but not use activity points and only some of the weeklies.
Want to loose 3st. It set first goal of 9lbs or so - but it didn't say by when!
Using iPhone App and online depending what i'm doing at the time.
Activities this week are minimal (3 points for dog walking), as house going down with sickness bug. Hoping next week to introduce some shredding and start back up jogging.

I've bought the WW pedometer, it's ace! It's making me really conscious of my.activity levels so that every trip up and down stairs doesn't seem like a chore. Walked a couple of miles each way to toddlers this morning, so I've earned 5 activity points already today (won't be using them though).

@flatmouse sounds good. BTW Weight watchers as a rule don't put deadlines on weightloss. They think it isn't very good psycologically.
