2013 Weight Watchers over here!

The previous thread title and OP wad intended for information only, but as a few people arrived wanting a bit of mutual support, I thought a more specific thread title might be in order, esp if there's anyone else wanting to join in. I think the cashback deal on online membership expires now, anyway.

Can you introduce yourselves with a quick summary of your aims, please?

I'll be doing Weight Watchers online only. DS is nearly 10 weeks and I'm BFing, so I get 40PPs a day, plus the weeklies. I'm not sure how easily the weight will come off with that amount, but can't cut down any further yet.

I have 3 1/2 st to lose altogether. I'm currently 12st 7lb and was 10st pre-DC after previous success with WW. I'd like to go a bit further this time.

My short term goal is to be a bit slimmer for a family wedding next month. Unfortunately I'm the gat cousin and need any extra confidence I can get.

My WI is Thursday. So far, so good. I'm snacking but sticking to my PPs + weeklies. Struggling to get much exercise due to two poorly DCs, but hoping to find time for a DVD today.

Magdalen when i started ww i was on 55pp per day. It gradually decreases and i'm currently on 37.
My favourite low pp snacks are jumbo snack a jacks 1pp each/2for3pp and shapers popcorn from boots. They do little packs that are toffee&chocolate/ strawberry&whitechoc and bigger bags that are salted. All 2pp each.

Does anybody else know how to track points in things that aren't on the tracker? I know Addicted said the point is not to eat things like takeaways, etc BUT that isn't going to fit with my lifestyle so I'm not going to stick to it. I'm going to have to buy a book aren't I? And that annoys me because I need to phone them up to buy it, they should definitely have an online ordering option, I don't want to talk to people, that's why I'm doing it online.

they have 'cheat sheets' online that give the points for things like chinese takeaway.

Here is the eating out guide: www.weightwatchers.co.uk/food/rst/index.aspx

Yes you could really do with the book. Are you enrolled online? In which case you've got a calculator, but otherwise I'd recommend getting one (i have one but I'm keeping hold of it for when I go solo and can't access online resources). TBH, the takeaways and cakes are high in PP and will add up, so maybe you'd be better off with something like Paul McKenna if you don't want to change your lifestyle.

Cider. I am doing the F&H Foods list. You only count your 49 weekly points, so I try to work on 7 a day (technically!). It's very good as it makes you cook rather than do ready meals etc. Making chicken curry tonight with brown rice, so I won't need to point anything as its already accounted for in the plan.

Hi all, I weighed in this morning at 12st 9. That is 8lb on since I last really counted, could have been worse! I have had a couple of good days, lots of fruit and veg and healthy cooking.

My top snack tip is Babybel Light- 1 point each.
I try to keep a bowl of crunchy salad in the fridge- shredded cabbage (red or white) grated carrot and a bit of thinly sliced onion. I eat it with tuna, rollmops, falafel, a fishcake, whatever and dress it with XL mayo and wasabi or mustard. It's tasty and really filling.

Schooldidi you could either get the Eating Out book, or you could try those supermarket 'takeaway' boxes? They have the nutrition info on so you can add it to the tracker? Or you could just save your weeklies for a takeaway at the weekend and try to choose the healthiest option?

Can I join in?

Went to my first meeting this morning. Was more like a pensioners coffee morning but the leader seemed friendly enough. I weighed in at 11 stone 9 which I was astounded at. I'm 5.5 and weighed 9 stone 12 five years' ago on my wedding day and a perfect size 12 so that's what i'm aiming for.

Has taken me all day to digest everything and i've signed up to e source and got the phone APP and have tracked all day, i've got 2 points left for a biscuit later Blush.

I tried the 0 points home made veg soup today but it was foul, absolutely disgusting, made me want to vomit actually it was that bad.

I was a bit surprised that there were a couple of newbies there today who looked about a size 8. I assume they are signing up to maintain but it didn't make me feel any better! Confused

I'm trying quinoa with homemade curry today, DP has been obsessed with the idea of doing so since he saw Jamie Oliver doing the same Grin It's supposed to be more filling than rice (apparently), so we'll see - hopefully it'll stop my 11pm cravings for porridge!

Tomorrow will be day 7 and my first weigh in, I'm interested to see if I've lost as I've not gone off plan once and I'm quite proud Smile

Crunchie, I think that soup making is all about experimenting with flavours and textures. I made some ham, winter vegetables and "soup mix" soup last week. Absolutely delicious and apart from the small amount of pearl barley in it, zero points on Filling & Healthy.

I do know that you can swap and change between Daily Points and F&H, but the F&H really suits my lifestyle at the moment as it doesn't require heaps of thought! Making me cook more from scratch again is a good thing.

A diet that lets you have a sirloin steak and a jacket potato can't be all bad! Grin

Metro, I'm making curry tonight too! I bought some whole grain basmati rice today, just to try it out.

I hauled my backside down to join this morning, am feeling motivated and have had a good day, am feeling full after my tea. 11.7 stone and target is 10 stone so not loads to lose but I need to, can't fit in clothes and feeling sluggish :(. Some good ideas for soups (I love soups) anyone got any slow cooker recipes? Am going to explore to ww site when the dc go to bed.

You're a similar weight to me haemadoots with similar amount to lose, I signed up today too. Seen some lovely recipes on the esource site to try. I've had a good day considering it's my first but it's going to take a bit of getting used to, especially not being able to grab what I want when I want. The fruit bowl has been my saviour today!Grin

Haem I am a similar weight and target weight to you too - I weighed in today at 11 3, hoping to get down to at least 10 1. I like being back in control.

Forks I will see tomorrow morning, when I have the dreaded weigh in.

Does anyone use a griddled frying pan? I'm trying to work out if I should get one or not. I remember having a George Foreman Health Grill years ago. Does anyone use of those? What would you think was a better thing to buy?

Well another day sticking to my points and fitting in some exercise this evening despite feeling rotten with my cough. I need suggestions for low point snacks as one of my danger times is late afternoon. I am either working late and tempted to have chocolate or at home making dinner for the kids and being tempted by leftovers. Why are cold fish fingers suddenly so hard to resist at that time?

Tonight I opted for a toasted crumpet and a banana which was very filling but I need alternatives for work.

Mrs I totally agree about the relief to know that your eating is back under control.

Evening ladies, mind if a join you?

Started WW online yesterday, have done the plan sporadically for a few years, Usually lose 2 stone easily then give in to my emotional eating. Aiming to not do this this year.

Have quite a bit to lose, embarrassed to say really.

So far so good. Sitting here snacking on baby beetroot ATM, yummy!

Have also bought a few quick easy ready meals (M&S fuller longer range) to stop those "can't be bothered, have a pasty" moments.

Not an alcohol or cake person, but could kill a multipack of crisps.

SallyBear, I used to have one and threw it out a few months ago, intending to get a new one as it was rather worn out. It was a cast iron one and really good.
MIL has a George Foreman grill and goes on about it all the time. I was a bit Hmm till a young colleague of mine started raving about how great his one is! So maybe they are worth a try? My only problem would be the amount of space they take up on the side as we already have a number of gadgets!

Well I've made a mahoosive pot of vajazzler's tomato and mushroom soup and am taking it to work for tomorrow's lunch. I nearly bought a butternut squash earlier but bottled it Wink

Have done two days of counting. So far so good. Grin

Tilly, I ended up cooking steak tonight and I grilled it. Boy do I wish I hadn't! It was very uninspiring and I normally cook a great steak in a frying pan (of course!). So I've decided that I will get a griddled pan as though Sainsburys have got George Foreman grills on offer at half price I'm being careful after Christmas.

Crunchie get a squash! It's a very easy soup to make, though DH felt it was sweet. Confused

Can I join the thread please?

My dd is 18 weeks (maybe 19) and I joined ww 3 weeks before Christmas and lost 4lb just weighed in today for the first time since the Xmas nosh up and only put on 1lb - I'm ecstatically happy about that. I want to lose about 2 stone but anything is going to be a bonus.
