2013 Weight Watchers over here!

The previous thread title and OP wad intended for information only, but as a few people arrived wanting a bit of mutual support, I thought a more specific thread title might be in order, esp if there's anyone else wanting to join in. I think the cashback deal on online membership expires now, anyway.

Can you introduce yourselves with a quick summary of your aims, please?

I'll be doing Weight Watchers online only. DS is nearly 10 weeks and I'm BFing, so I get 40PPs a day, plus the weeklies. I'm not sure how easily the weight will come off with that amount, but can't cut down any further yet.

I have 3 1/2 st to lose altogether. I'm currently 12st 7lb and was 10st pre-DC after previous success with WW. I'd like to go a bit further this time.

My short term goal is to be a bit slimmer for a family wedding next month. Unfortunately I'm the gat cousin and need any extra confidence I can get.

My WI is Thursday. So far, so good. I'm snacking but sticking to my PPs + weeklies. Struggling to get much exercise due to two poorly DCs, but hoping to find time for a DVD today.

I'm partial to a Collins and Elderflower..... What a lovely idea for a drink!

bigTillyMint · 06/02/2013 17:32

Mmmm. Only problem is, there is a huge choice of cocktails, but I'm not sure which are included in Happy Hour yetGrin - I may have to do urgent texting on Friday night....

SallyBear · 06/02/2013 17:38

Then you need a Crunchie Line. I tend to have a caipirinha as they're normally a happy hour cocktail two for one, and then does me tbh. Not a big drinker anymore as I'm a long way away from my twenties! I would point that at maybe a 6pp drink (being generous).

mrsv2 · 06/02/2013 17:57

Hi everyone. I joined WW online yesterday as i need motivation to lose some weight. I am used to the old point system and am finding the PP a bit confusing.
i want to lose around 1stone hopefully by July for a family holiday.
i have 2DC.....DD is 23months and DS is 20 weeks. Due to GD i was actually lighter post birth than i was at conception but since stopping BF the weight is creeping on. I am a SAHM / military wife who does lots of coffee and cake, hate exercise and love cooking........
havent had chance to read but i hope i can get support to reach my goal.

bigTillyMint · 06/02/2013 18:04

You're right Sally! I have saved up all my weeklies though, so I could afford to have a couple of drinks.... And eat sensibly...Wink

SallyBear · 06/02/2013 18:42

Welcome MrsV2. We are a growing band of WW. Some online, some go to meetings. Anyway, the points system is easy. Use your daily points each day, any exercise you do - log that as Activity points and the 49 weekly points are for treats or nights out etc. the Activity points that you have earned throughout the week are tacked onto the end of your weeklies. The advice is to use up your dailies every day, and if you can use up all of your weeklies. You can't carry any unused points to the following week. If your phone is an iPhone or an Android, then get the WW App for your phone - absolutely invaluable as you can track through out the day, look up shopping when you are out and also calculate values etc.
As you like cooking, then please find the WW 2013 recipe thread and add any recipes to it that are good for points.

Look forward to getting to know you Grin

mrsv2 · 06/02/2013 19:58

thanks sally for the welcome my current weight ( last friday in boots) 12st 4lb so have 26pp per day, waiting for delivery of some bathroom scales......can you explain the h&F days to me as the list seems to have everything i would normally eat but its not pointed so i guess its down to portion size. Thats my main issue...i love food and i love lots of it. I weighed my mash tonight ( 120g = 4pp) it was a tiny amount. Done well today and still have 2 points left for a treat......
today i have had
B
30g Sultana Bran - 3pp
banana
apple as snack
L
4 Finn Crisp Rye biscuits + 45g Chilli philadelphia - 5.5pp
My DD plum fromage frais - 2pp
D
120g mash - 4pp
Goulash - recipe tracker stated 5pp a portion and was delicious
green veg

1/2pt semi skimmed milk - 4pp

jazzcat28 · 06/02/2013 20:30

Welcome mrsv2 your first day looks like a good one! Here's to a fab first week weight loss!

A la magdalen here are a few of my staples:

Ryvita 1pp each (I have them with soup for lunch)

4 Cadbury's fingers 3pp

Porridge for breakfast with water and skimmed milk

Skinny latte from Costa 2pp (lots of work 'meetings' revolve around our in house Costa) Interestingly a skinny latte from Caffe Nero is only 1pp but alas we are Costa biased at our office

WW Choc Brownie dessert 4pp - kicks the ice cream craving post dinner

Asda minestrone soup 4pp for a whole can

WW mini naan bread 3pp each

M&S Count on Us meals (also pro-pointed on the packaging)

Aunt Bessies original yorkshire puds 1pp each makes a roast feel naughty!

Curly Wurly 3pp each

An omlette made with 2 eggs, a load of mushrooms and 1 slice of back bacon chopped is only 5pp

For drinking more water I'm using the tip ^^ upthread about drinking a glass of water before/while making a cup of tea

Because I have a horrendous commute every night before bed I weight out my porridge and measure my milk ready for the morning and also put sticky lables on cans of soup as soon as I buy them giving their pp values so I can just grab from the cupboard and go in the mornings

Oh and snack on oodles of fruit

Am going to be on a training course next week where we will need to take a packed lunch (no food provided and no microwave for me to have my usual soup). Any ideas??

bigTillyMint · 06/02/2013 20:32

Yes, 26 points doesn't seem to go very far, does it?!

mrsv2 · 06/02/2013 21:03

i seemed to eat more on the old point system........just had a shock at how many pp my old staple of chickpeas is on the new points.

Livinginorganisedchaos · 06/02/2013 21:06

Thanks everyone for the support. The funeral is on Friday and I am flying back to Belfast for the day to attend it. Despite having a very sad week, I have managed to stay on track the last couple of days. It has been hard not to pour a glass of wine in the evenings but I know if I do I will end up snacking on rubbish and undo all the good work of the last few weeks.

Chilly I am a big Jillian Michaels fan and everyone I have recommended the Shred to has noticed results in losing inches. I did Ripped in 30 in January and this month have given myself the challenge of Killer Buns and Thighs! Anything that tones up my thighs can only be a good thing.

My top snacking tip is sainsburys savory popcorn, only 1pp a bag and the paprika one is really tasty.

OhTheConfusion · 06/02/2013 21:30

Jazz, I had to take a packed lunch with me today to save me grabbing something on the train between meetings. I made a chicken salad sandwich today that came to 4pp. 2 slices of WW malted bread (2pp), 60g cooked chicken breast (2pp), roasted peppers, rocket and 15ml spoon of 0% fat mayo (0pp). Grapes and a bottle of water.

SallyBear · 06/02/2013 21:38

Living, I hope that Friday is a day full of reminiscing about the dear family friend you remember so fondly.

SallyBear · 06/02/2013 21:54

MrsV, F&H is a huge list of foods that are effectively free. WW say that it's a plan for more experienced dieters, so that people are more in tune with their portion sizes etc. you are allowed 2 tspn of healthy oil - sunflower or olive a day without pointing. All the things like cheese butter sugar etc are pointed. So you switch the counting points option to F&H. The daily points are replaced by F&H and anything that needs pointing comes from your weekly amount of 49. I try to use 7pp a day. It works for me, but you have to be a cook. It doesn't work if you're not a cook.

chillyigloo · 06/02/2013 23:17

noway Our leader said on Tuesday that they were reprinting the eating out guide as its riddled with errors, especially the Indian cuisine apparently, so I'd trust the Nando's own nutritional info more.

I only bought my copy last week!

X

bigTillyMint · 07/02/2013 07:45

chilly, I bet the eating out guide goes out of date really quickly as the restaurants change their menus/recipes, but how annoying!

F&H is no good for me - portion sizes and snacking is my downfallBlush

givemeaclue · 07/02/2013 09:22

Week 4 weigh in, (on line) have lost 7.6lb in total , very pleased to have first half stone off. wearing clothes haven't worn in a year and is first time have been under 10 stone in 2 years.

Going on hols for a few days next week fully expect to put back on about 4lb however I know I can lose that in a couple weeks when I get back. Key is not to get the holiday eating follow me home!

givemeaclue · 07/02/2013 09:23

Jazz, Costa skinny small cappuccino is only 1pp

OhTheConfusion · 07/02/2013 11:27

I am sooooo proud of myself (and so modest too Wink).
Heading away for the weekend with DH and the DC's and instead of blowing the diet I have just done a quick online food shop and sainsburys will be delivering lots of 'treats' to the cottage a few hours after we arrive!

There is a bit of wine but other than that the treats are steaks, fresh berries and a bottle of vintage port (3pp for 50ml)! We will still go out for a meal on Sat but have booked a seafood place to try and control the PP's. I have got a bag ready to pack my fry light, scales and point calculator too!

I would polish my halo but considering I have done this from work I really should spend my time trying to clear my in tray instead! Wink

SallyBear · 07/02/2013 12:19

Have a great time and relax.

QueenandKingMum · 07/02/2013 13:58

Hi everyone, can I join in? I'm just restarting for the millionth time, this is my first week and WI is on Saturday at 10. I'm not expecting a great one, this week has been harder than I thought Hmm it would be. I also have Fibromyalgia so exercise sadly won't happen but I am hoping to fit some pilates in on a "good" day.

Anyway, hello!

GingerLemonTea · 07/02/2013 14:21

Hi everyone,
I would like to join too. Had my 4th WI yesterday. Overall I have lost 7lbs, but last two weeks have only lost 0.5. I've done WWs about 10 times before and usually give up within 2months. Finding the app very helpful this time, but a little bit fed up that it's coming off slowly as I am sticking to it. However the alternative is to give up and go back to bad habits, so keeping going!
Finding sugar free jelly, cauliflower rice, oranges keeping me going and low on pps.
Need to drink more water & be more active!

tanfastic · 07/02/2013 15:28

Hi guys, just checking in and catching up on the thread, been gone a little while Smile well done everyone, you are all doing so well. Thanks

On my fifth week now and I've lost 9 pound so far. Very chuffed that my clothes fit like a glove again rather than pulling at the seams.

Only lost half a pound last week but was due on and leader mentioned a lot of women either Sts or lose little once every four weeks before their period. Anyone else found this?

bigTillyMint · 07/02/2013 17:27

tan, I'm hoping that that is why I didn't lose last week! Will have to see when I WI on Sat.... I definitely weigh heavier just before and during a period.

My jeans are fitting me much more comfortably nowSmile

chillyigloo · 07/02/2013 17:33

Just had a slice of thick white hot toast with real butter - came in at a whopping 6 points, but my gosh it was divine!

Now, what to make for dinner with my remaining 8pp Hmm ?!?!
