2013 Weight Watchers over here!

INeedThatForkOff · 06/01/2013 08:54

The previous thread title and OP wad intended for information only, but as a few people arrived wanting a bit of mutual support, I thought a more specific thread title might be in order, esp if there's anyone else wanting to join in. I think the cashback deal on online membership expires now, anyway.

Can you introduce yourselves with a quick summary of your aims, please?

I'll be doing Weight Watchers online only. DS is nearly 10 weeks and I'm BFing, so I get 40PPs a day, plus the weeklies. I'm not sure how easily the weight will come off with that amount, but can't cut down any further yet.

I have 3 1/2 st to lose altogether. I'm currently 12st 7lb and was 10st pre-DC after previous success with WW. I'd like to go a bit further this time.

My short term goal is to be a bit slimmer for a family wedding next month. Unfortunately I'm the gat cousin and need any extra confidence I can get.

My WI is Thursday. So far, so good. I'm snacking but sticking to my PPs + weeklies. Struggling to get much exercise due to two poorly DCs, but hoping to find time for a DVD today.

Pork stroganoff with three mustards served with brown rice for dinner tonight. Smile

OhTheConfusion · 04/02/2013 17:03

Garlic chicken curry from Feb's WW magazine here tonight Smile

SallyBear · 04/02/2013 17:06

I liked the look of your linguine Confusion!

CiderwithBuda · 04/02/2013 17:42

Hi all! Welcome to all new people. This is a great thread. Very supportive.

Just logging on quickly as about to cook dinner. Pork stroganoff here too SallyBear! dH has requested rice but I wasn't going to bother. Might just have mange tout with it. But I do like brown rice so may have a little. Wish I could get DH to eat brown rice. Seems to be against his religion!

SallyBear · 04/02/2013 18:00

Cider have you tried wholegrain Basmati? It's nice and not too nutty as I know that most brown rice can be nutty. I'm doing Delia's recipe it just needs a bit of adjusting for pp but is pretty good!

I have just had half a breaded chicken fillet that kids were having in wraps. I would have eaten more but my jaw is still sore from the fluey thing! Dog got the rest. Grin

didireallysaythat · 04/02/2013 18:11

Does brown rice take longer to cook than white ? Its been a while since I bought any but my memory is that after an hour of cooking it was still hard.... But I'm not claiming to be good a cooking...

SallyBear · 04/02/2013 18:34

Haha! Brown rice proper takes about 35 minutes but requires lots of washing before it goes in the pan. The Tilda Wholegrain Basmati doesn't need washing and cooked in about 25 minutes. Alternatively you could just get an Uncle Ben's microwave pack!

Doretaball · 04/02/2013 19:24

Hello!

Pork strog sound yummy, is that just in the Delia 'bible'? Presumably you use LF creme fraiche and reduce the oil etc?

After expexcting a gain after a mega weekend of eating, I managed to lose a pound! Was thrilled to bits. I love WW you really can eat what you want! I am now really focused this week as I only have 1.5lbs to lose to get my first stone.

What are you guys doing with your activity points? I haven't been using mine (except for this week!) and just wondered if you can still lose weight when you use them up?

Good luck everyone for this week.

OhTheConfusion · 04/02/2013 20:50

Sally the linguine is gorgeous, it still feels like a 'treat'.
If anyone fancies sharing their pork stroganoff recipie I would be greatful.

Doretaball, I have aimed for as many activity points as possible but I have not eaten any of them. I feel like I get enough points with the weeklies for treats so I figured all the extra exercise can go towards shifting the flab! That said I don't get weighed until tomorrow so I will let you know Wink.

onthemetro · 04/02/2013 21:17

Well done on the loss Dore! That's why I love WW too, it's just real life, isn't it? So easy.
I'd also like to know about the activity points, I've been very active recently (and have been wearing my WW pedometer) - I did 21pp last week and have done 18 so far this week, since Saturday Shock I've been walking everywhere and have loved it Smile

Dinner tonight was the Vietnamese Pho with prawns from the new mag, it was so good and very filling. I'm trying to stay away from my weeklies this week as I've already used most of them after accidentally having a chocolate fudge cake with my pub lunch yesterday. Oops!

Hopefully it won't do too much damage if I just stick to my points Smile

Livinginorganisedchaos · 04/02/2013 21:46

Evening all and well done again to the losers! I may need a crunchie line tomorrow. Things were going well on the points front today until this evening when I got a call from my mother to let me know that a close friend of the family has died. She was very elderly but for the last 10 years or so she has been like a surrogate grandmother to me, DH and the kids.

Have been feeling quite weepy so somehow the red wine and pringles have made an appearance. I do have 39 weeklies so I am planning to point it all tomorrow and then try to be good the rest of the week. Still, sometimes real life happens and if this is a bad week then so be it.

SallyBear · 04/02/2013 22:12

Confusion and Doreta - I did a chicken version that is on the recipe thread. The pork version is much the same. You use pork tenderloin fillet and add a slug of white wine to the sauteed meat and vegetables, allow to cool and then stir in the creme fraiche and mustards. recipe thread

Doretaball · 05/02/2013 06:55

Thanks Sallybear, will try that one day soon.

One more question - has anyone got any good tips for drinking lots of water, I just never seem to remember to do it.

Hope the weigh ins go well today.

didireallysaythat · 05/02/2013 07:43

To drink more water, at work every tine I get up to make tea/coffee I have a glass of water first. I don't drink as much coffee that way. And being a vain creature I bought myself a pretty glass so that its more if an event. Yes, I'm that shallow...

NoWayNoHow · 05/02/2013 09:40

doreta I absolutely hate water, think it's vile stuff. So, instead, I have substituted all of my hot drinks for caffeine-free alternatives. I now have coffee that's been decaffeinated using water (so there are no nasty chemicals) and Rooibos/Redbush tea (which is naturally caffeine free and which I can still drink with milk and Stevia sweetener, so it's a lot like normal tea).

As I could quite happily live on tea and coffee, I find this a really good way to get my fluids in as, as soon as I'm done with a cup, I'm off to make another. I'm not ashamed to say that I'm peeing like a racehorse!!Grin

OhTheConfusion · 05/02/2013 11:57

Thanks Sallybear, will make it later in the week!

Doreta, I have 1.5L water bottle in the fridge and I almost challenge myself (I sound nuts) to drink the contents throughout the day. I like water but seem to forget if it is not staring me in the face when I open the fridge!

I have also been keeping a bottle in my bag at all times.

SallyBear · 05/02/2013 12:00

I need to drink more water, but went through a habit of making up lime cordial to encourage me to drink more water as opposed to tea and coffee. I think just cold water with some ice and a slice can make all the difference if you're not a fan. I do drink more water now since I had kids.

CiderwithBuda · 05/02/2013 14:54

Drum roll please............

Lost 3 pounds!!!!!!!!

Very happy with that!

I now have 4.5 pounds to go to get me back to where I was at the end of June last year which was a 33 pound loss on when I joined in Jan 2011. Have a mini challenge now going with a girl who started at the same time as me and has been up and down like me. She has 5.5 pounds to go and we have given ourselves till end of Feb. I then want to lose another 2 to bring me to 2.5 stone by 8 March when I am going to see some friends.

This thread has really helped so thank you all!

We ended up with pork stroganoff, mange tout and wild rice last night. No idea of points! And I had cheese and crackers!

Tonight we are having the chicken and veg stew from the HD book.

Doretaball - I forget to drink my water too. I do like it though when I do it so not sure why I don't drink it more! I try to remember to always have a glass of water on the go and just keep having a mouthful when I see it. I find the moremofit I drink the more I want. Try putting a chart on the fridge that you can tick off every time you have a glass?

AddictedtoCrunchies · 05/02/2013 15:17

living I'm sorry for your loss Sad

cider congrats on the great result.

I'm clinging onto WW by the skin of my teeth. all weeklies gone, just hanging on in until Friday's weigh in. Off on holiday Sunday so want a good result before I go.

didireallysaythat · 05/02/2013 16:22

Crunchie - it will be fine I'm sure. There's always activity points to be had. I'm trying to work out if 11,000 steps is one croissant's worth of pro points (the app crashes without starting for me...).

Doretaball · 05/02/2013 19:23

Fantastic loss Cider, it's so motivating for the next week when you've had a good loss isn't it?

Thanks for all the water tips, will try the bottle in the fridge and the ice and lemon! Need to make it more of a 'proper' drink. I do actually like it so don't know why I don't drink it!

Popping baby down now the off for my treat - glass of sherry! How old am I? Got my MIL to that for developing a taste for it!!!

jazzcat28 · 05/02/2013 20:19

Fab losses everyone well done!

I've just added a sort of pasta carbonara to the recipe thread here

I hadn't really noticed any difference in myself since losing my 10lb but this morning wore a pair of trousers to work that wouldn't do up before Christmas so it's all headed in the right direction!

Sitting here doing my online food shop for later this week, so far my meal plans for the week from Fri onwards look like this

Fri night - Lean steak, 0pt ratatouille and rice
Sat night - M&S count on us meal (home alone)
Sun - salmon in puff pastry from this months WW mag
Mon - chicken and mushroom stroganoff from our recipe thread
Tues - WW spag bol
Weds - leftovers from stroganoff probably
Thurs - prawn stir fry with noodles

OhTheConfusion · 05/02/2013 20:19

I braved the cold, wet and windy weather and walked to my ww meeting... figured it couldn't hurt. 4lb loss!

I only managed a bit of extra walking and a 20min dvd so plan to up the exercise this week. This weather is a real PITA!

I have a late meeting tomorrow and know if I don't eat dinner I eat crap, so I have picked up an M&S count on us chicken and patata bravas meal. It works out at 9pp so thinking that and some rocket should do the trick. I rarely eat ready meals but sometimes needs must!

jazzcat28 · 05/02/2013 20:42
