Here is the new, shiny thread. Only three weeks or so to go until we swing into really strict mode!

Emma I just stick to Bootcamp and Bootcamp lite. I have been dng this since the original Bootcamp threads and can'twork out the fasting thing either!! Keep it up though you are doing brilliantly. Bet you have burnt loads of calories with your walking too

I have just been to the gym for a session with an instructor to go through a new programme and she said " I can't believe you are 40 and you don't lok like you have had children"
I think I luff her....I was discussing with her about benefit of low carb and she was interested although didn't need to,lose any weight we were talking about health benefits.

WineGless · 27/09/2012 13:12

On a different note how the hell do you all drink berocca? Is not too sweet for you now? I tried one today - BLEURGH

Doshusallie · 27/09/2012 15:18

Lunch was 3 more boiled eggs, salad leaves and cucumber, turkey, salami, and mayo.

Was slightly scuppered by the cappuchino with choc sprinkles my boss bought for me which would have been vey churlish not to drink, but foodwise good so far.

BIWI · 27/09/2012 15:30

Re the Berocca, I think it depends which flavour you have. I also drink it in half a litre of water, so it more diluted.

Thanks guys Grin

I have started to put all the recipes from Bootcamp thread onto mums est recipes.
If anyone wants to add a few more feel free. The more variety there is the easier IMO

Wine, just added a pork chop recipe which was adapted slightly from Delia. I got quite excited when I saw that there was a Banoffee pie recipe in the Low Carb section! Obviously put there by mistake.

WineGless · 27/09/2012 16:43

Hmm yes I saw that too.
Do you think I should email Oliviamumsnet and ask for it to be moved?!

MrsHerculePoirot · 27/09/2012 16:50

Yes! Or leave it and can all eat it and pretend we thought it was low carb until BIWI comes after us with her big stick

MrsHerculePoirot · 27/09/2012 17:09

Willie I just noticed that on the conversion page the formula for converting from stones and lbs to just lbs wasn't there - I think I've fixed it, but I don't know if it has saved properly so please check and I hope that was OK!

I replaced the batteries in my scales, but actually think it was something to do with the levelling mechanism that isn't right as they still don't work. Anyway, have now ordered a replacement set...

BIWI have you seen the new menu that they launched at DL this week? I bought home the leaflet when I was there today. It is based on paleo ideas and is 40:30:30 (carbs/fat/protein), but their carthips (I have no idea if this is much better!) and they have loads of salads that you then choose a basic salad, a pot of filling and a small pot of dresssing if you want. I didn't really look at the hot stuff as I had to run, but before I could basically only ever have the omlette and now I thinking there will be loads to choose from!

BIWI · 27/09/2012 18:11

Yes, my trainer was talking about it. He is most miffed that he can no longer have his burger and curly fries! (Oh to be 24 and have a fast metabolism!)

I never eat there usually but it's really good to know there's a place where I could get something 'good' if I needed to.

And what are carthips?! Sounds like something we should be trying to avoid!

wraps!!!!! Fat fingers on an iPhone this is why I need bootcamp!

We could have a low carb meet up at the gym!

TellMeLater · 28/09/2012 07:09

Must listen to Mark's podcast again. I understood he was saying that the body can't distinguish between dietary fat and body fat but for it to use body fat there must be a deficit of dietary fat and that was when you would lose weight. If you ate an excess of dietary fat you wouldn't gain because your insulin levels were low. This suggests fasting is a good way to encourage your body to use body fat but it also suggests that exercising in a fasted state would help too. Will be interested to see how he gets on with training triathletes on a low carb diet.

Was also relieved that he encouraged a carb day every now and then - maybe every few months as a positive thing mentally and physically.

He came across as much less rigid than I expected.

vnmum · 28/09/2012 08:11

Yes, I think Mark Sisson is less rigid than the other main Paleo people (Loren Cordain and Robb Wolf).

When the LBDBC starts, will that be the only thread running or will this one carry on aswell? I Don't want to be posting on the wrong thread Smile

BigStickBIWI · 28/09/2012 09:04

I think it would be better to move over to the LBD thread - although that does assume that everyone on here is Bootcamping! (Although I think this thread is nearly full anyway, isn't it?)

vnmum · 28/09/2012 11:56

It's getting full BIWI. I will be bootcamping but just wanted to check that there wouldn't be 2 chat threads running.

Gym this morning then walked the 3 miles home. Got in just before the heavens opened. No breakfast and just had tin of tuna with mayo.

I made a lovely curry last night in the slow cooker. I don't know the carb count but the ingredients were low carb, maybe not bootcamp though. It had onions (couls replace with shallots), spices, tom puree and full fat yoghurt, couple of tbsp of ground almonds and double cream. I used stewing steak and it just melted in your mouth. Delish.

Tea tonight is chicken something.

BigStickBIWI · 28/09/2012 12:15

I don't think it's a great idea to have two chat threads running - apart from irritating other posters, it's potentially confusing! My only question was those who aren't doing Bootcamp but who are just more generally low carbing - but I guess there's no reason why they shouldn't either start another, non-Bootcamp thread or just join in the Bootcamp thread.

Curry sounds lovely. I've just posted a curry recipe on the recipe thread as well. Must be something to do with it being Friday and takeaway night!

TellMeLater · 28/09/2012 12:27

I posted on this one as I wanted to discuss mark sisson's podcast...I will post on the bootcamp thread if that ok - even though I'm not strictly bootcamping...... more like bootcamp maintainence.

halfthesize · 28/09/2012 13:52

vnmum that curry sounds lovely and very impressed with gym then walk home.

I had a little slip up yesterday, made banana bread with DS2 and then proceeded to eat a slice.

Been v good today, home made soup for lunch and no breakfast as had DS1 coffee morning, where I avoided all cakes etc.Smile

BigStickBIWI · 28/09/2012 13:55

TellMeLater - you are more than welcome to join the Bootcamp threads - your knowledge/experience would be really helpful! We can carry on with this one till it fills up anyway.

vnmum · 28/09/2012 16:48

When I get a chance I will put the curry recipe on the thread and then people can tweek it to their own needs (depending on what rules they are following Smile)

halfthesize · 28/09/2012 17:45

Thanksvnmum
