Throwing new fuel on the Bootcamp Camp Fire

Here is the new, shiny thread. Only three weeks or so to go until we swing into really strict mode!

Never mind BIWI. One week to go!

I have had some lovely food this weekend. DH is away so I have been feeding the boys crap and treating myself to whatever low carb delicacies I fancy. I have probably had too much cream and cheese and I opened a bottle of Prosecco last night to help me endure X Factor Bootcamp that the boys insisted on watching. Much prefer the LBD BOOTCAMP.

Not sure what to have for dinner today. I forgot to take the meat out of the freezer for the beef bourguignon so that will never be ready in time. Think I will need to go shopping.

Thegoddessblossom · 23/09/2012 10:48

I'm making IPD moussaka for tea

PrincessSparkle86 · 23/09/2012 11:51

Hellooo Smile

Lunch today: chiken and bacon stir fry with chilli, garlic and veggies!
Dinner: will be a green salad with boiled egg and some crispy bacon Smile

What a miserable day it is here... Hate the rain Sad

WillieWaggledagger · 23/09/2012 12:18

Am at my parents' as mum's birthday this weekend. I cunningly insisted in cooking because it's mum's birthday so have done moussaka and a roast. Also made her a cake but it's a heavy fruit cake which I don't like so it's easy to say no to that

Thegoddessblossom · 23/09/2012 13:18

Could very easily have eaten the entire baguette dh brought home this morning but was stead fast in my low carb resolve. A minor miracle considering my hangover but it's a slippery slope isn't it?

Have had a 4 egg (!!) omelette with celery and cucumber and added mayo for lunch instead. Am stuffed.

Have all drunk about 6 pints of water.

vnmum · 23/09/2012 14:33

Lidls Greek Yog is fab isn't it. DS has been having that for breakfast layered with pureed berries and flaked almonds or some other nut.

Bacon, egg, sausage and creamy mushrooms with salsa for lunch.

DH is currently teaching DS (6) How to make homemade salsa Smile
Tea will be meatloaf with salad.

I have nearly finished 'the paleo solution' by Robb Wolff. The dishes in the menu suggestion sound really nice but they are quite fruit and nut heavy although he does suggest dropping the fruit if you are looking for fat loss. His plan is lean meats, plenty of veggies, olive oil, fruit and nuts. No dairy and fat comes from olive oil only. It is probably something I may try for maintenance and just play about with the fat bit. Not sure I would look forward to my tasty veg without butter on it Smile.

I am making sure the dairy gets eaten in the house and will only restock small bits for the DC so I can give up dairy for bootcamp to see if it makes a difference.

queribus · 23/09/2012 14:38

Out for a meal last night. It was lovely, but not low carb (tuna to start, lamb tagine and couscous, then sticky toffee pudding). Lots of wine too.

Today:
B - eggs and bacon
L - veg stir fry and smoked salmon

Lots of water.

BIWI · 23/09/2012 17:26

vnmum - out of interest - how high/low fat is the paleo solution?

Had a scary experience yesterday. Had been out for a lovely 5 mile walk with kids. Was sitting in the car waiting for eh when I thought I could do with going for a wee but thought I could hold on but I couldn't and before I knew wee was coming out and much as I tried there was no way I could stop it. Vey upsetting. This has never happened before. I have no problems with trampolines, running, or sleeping without going to the toilet. I can drink 2 litres as prescribed on here and be fine. I was shocked by the lck of control and by the fact I'd had not that much to drink. Hope this not going to offend anyone!

TellMeLater · 23/09/2012 18:31

Weighed in this morning and I'm back to my pre-summer holiday size! So low-carbing, fasting twice a week and running has eventually kicked my body into fat loss! After losing nothing for 7 weeks, I have lost 3.5 kg in one week, which sounds a bit ridiculous.

After a 14km run this morning....my legs were very sore!

Came home and had 3 boiled eggs for breakfast....off to the cinema with the dcs to see Diary of a Wimpy Kid.
Nandos for lunch. Food was ok, half a chicken was only 3 carbs, then I added side salad and coleslaw, decided the sides were too dull to consider eating next time. First time visit, wouldn't rush back but not a bad low carb option from a chain.
When we got home I made another 3 min low carb choc cake and served it with low carb double cream ice cream, yum, no need for dinner this evening, dh and I are stuffed. Might have a sneaky red wine later on.

Fasting tomorrow...so I'll try to avoid reading this thread - I fantastize about low carb food when I fast and this thread contains too much lovely food.

TellMeLater · 23/09/2012 18:34

roofergirl go see your GP and get things checked out, you may have an infection or something.

roofergirl · 23/09/2012 19:36

Tellmelater, thanks am going to book appt tomorrow. No other signs that it might be an infection though. Just think it might be hitting 50 and should have done more pf exercise. In the meantime will continue with my 2 litres.

sybilfaulty · 23/09/2012 20:10

Roofer, I have had this when I have had UTI and it's very distressing. It's odd, because usually with UTIs I have extreme pain on weeing but with this one, i didn't have any pain but just could not stop once I needed to go. Awful. A course of ABs sorted me out though. Hope something as easy does the same for you. Huge hugs.

roofergirl · 23/09/2012 21:01

Sybilffaulty, thanks.good to hear it might not be anything more serious.x

GoldenOrangeWhippoorwhill · 23/09/2012 21:10

Saw eldest son off to Uni and then ate pretty much an entire bar of that Lindt dark chocolate with the sea salt in it and my body weight in nuts. Blush

It feels weird without him here. So quiet without him and his brother chatting away all the time. I suppose we'll get used to it and anyway he'll be back Saturday night because he's starting work at 7 Sunday morning and there aren't any buses that early.

The batteries have died in the scales so don't know what the damage was yet.

SharonGless · 23/09/2012 21:45

Tellmelater - well done that is brilliant loss.

Whipporwhill - I think you are allowed a little blowe out before boot camp.

I have had a disastrous week and the scales are showing it.
I am on study leave for a week after Tuesday so will be exercising every day in my lunch break plus making fanstastic low carb meals :)

Thanks for all the suggestions for my name change. I want to move away from police connection I think. Too much disclosed on other threads - although I have tried to be careful.

Its still very raw at work- having a glass of red tonight
I have made the dream creamy spinach soup to take to work tomorrow

BIWI · 23/09/2012 21:48

How about something Tracey-related?!

Whippoorwhill - this was me last year. It is a really strange feeling. This year is DS1's second year, and he is so happy. He rang me the other day. My immediate response when he rings is "What's wrong? What do you want?" Blush

But he had just rung for a chat, because he is so happy and enjoying himself so much. Grin

OP posts:
GoldenOrangeWhippoorwhill · 23/09/2012 22:20

That's kind of what I thought Sharon. I've been SO good and will be mega good again very soon so going a little off the rails would be ok.

BIWI, I hope that's how I'll be feeling eventually. I'm glad your son is enjoying it so much. :)

BIWI · 23/09/2012 22:30

I'm sure you will. The first year is all about them settling in, making friends - it's really stressful. And that's just them, never mind you!

OP posts:
MrsHerculePoirot · 23/09/2012 22:45

Sharon - what other things do you like? Hobbies? Tv shows? Movies? Books? Anything there inspire you for a new name...?

SharonGless · 23/09/2012 22:58

Thanks MRS HP, lots of othe names I would have chosen have been taken ove the years bitches

I will think about it tomorrow when I have not had wine!

MrsHerculePoirot · 23/09/2012 23:04

Haha, well if you post any general things here we can try to help. I spent ages finding my name - all my other ideas agatha christie were taken but by people who never post!!!!!

Although on the wine front would WineGlass be taken already!?!?

halfthesize · 24/09/2012 08:23

Morning all

Loving the name wineglass

Sorry to hear what happened roofergirl hope seeing the GP gives you some answers.

hoping you can help me with something, DH is now at his goal weight, bloody typical, he starts after me and gets there before me!! He wants to know if introducing a bowl of porridge a day would be ok?

Off to the gym this morning after the school runs, not looking forward to going out in this horrible weatherSad It was actually dark this morning when I got up!!

PrincessSparkle86 · 24/09/2012 10:15

Morning all Grin

I agree half the darkness is creeping back in Sad boooo!

Breaky- was 3 streaky bacon, 1 egg scrambled and 3 small mushrooms fried!

BIWI · 24/09/2012 10:15

halfthesize - the only way for him to find out if it will be OK is for him to try it, and see what happens.
