I just joined tonight. Want to lose 1st 9lbs - wish me luck. Anyone got any tips?

I know it's not rocket science but it's really hard sticking to healthy low-fat eating when you have to feed a family and there are temptations everywhere! I need a plan.

Thanks g/frumpy! I'll check out the low-GI recipes definitely.

Today is weigh day and I'm nervous....

I did the Hip and Thigh diet years ago and it did work, but I did feel that the list of "forbidden" foods was very restrictive. Got on better with weightwatchers where you could have your chocolate so long as you account for it.

KBear · 20/03/2006 20:33

So... I'm back from the weigh in and exercise class.....

I don't expect anyone to care but it's my thread so ......

I lost 2lbs

was expecting to lose more but hey, it's a start.

Here's hoping for next week.

Grin Grin Grin

KBear · 21/03/2006 13:13

How's it going lilibet? I have to confess that I was disappointed at a measly 2lbs loss.

Back to it today though - been swimming this morning. Did 30 lengths. Can't possibly tidy up the house now though - too exhausted!!!

Good luck for Thursday.

I'm going to my first class later. Very nervous but have been looking on the website and some of the recipies there are really nice.

I have Mothers Day on Sunday tho' and then a meal out on 1 April so that's my first fortnight problem.

But I reckon if I stick to it for the other 13 days I should be ok

gingernutlover · 23/03/2006 20:53

I went last nigth for the first time and actually enjoyed the exercise although not the weighing bit! I am actually full too so far which suprised me as the 2 week menu thing you get when you start looked a bit sparse.

haven't managed the 2 litres of water though today and can't drink any more tonight - will try again tomorrow

lilibet · 24/03/2006 18:27

Enjoyed the class and the instructer was really nice, she told me that you don't have to start withthe two week plan if you know you will find it too difficult to give up wine, so I'm straight onto the normal plan.

Two things that really upset me, I saw someone there who I worked with years ago and she didn't recognise me because I had put that much weight on. and yes, she did actually say that Shock Sad

The other thing is that the scales there are 9lbs heavier than mine at home, so even if I loose half a stone I'm still heavier than I thought I was Sad Sad

So, todays food has been, porridge with just water for breakfast which I eat every day anyway, a salad and some soup for lunch, and I'm about to sit down to a pice of cod loin topped with a spoonful of 5% fat mayo mixed with a bit of tom puree, and loads of veg

But tonight I'm drinking Grin!!!!!!!!!!!11

KBear · 24/03/2006 19:38

lillibet - glad you enjoyed it. This week I have been swimming twice and done the class as well as sticking to "the plan". Already my work trousers are feeling looser which inspires me to carry on!

gingernutlover (me too!) - keep us posted with how it goes and tell me what exciting things you're having for dinner so we can steal your ideas Grin.

Good Luck for tonight kbear

KBear · 27/03/2006 17:00

Thanks lillibet - knowing you are getting weighed definitely makes you stick to the plan doesn't it! I hope I have lost another 2lbs - nervous though!

Are you sticking to the two week plan kbear?

I'm finding it easier than I thought to keep to under 5% fat but it's early days yet.

What sort of things do you do in your class, I'm going to the salsa one which is not that hard but in a few weeks I may have to go to the earlier class which is jut excercise adn I'm not fit at all!

It's half price if you miss a class

KBear · 29/03/2006 11:03

I've just finished the two week plan and now I can have 1500 calories a day which seems like loads. Plus alcohol (yay) and a treat (which I am not having at the moment because I am chocoholic and can't eat just a "bit" of chocolate).

The class I do is aerobics and some floor work - she makes it different every couple of weeks. I think they do salsa some nights but haven't done it myself yet.

I feel less bloated and I've lost an inch off my bust and two inches off my waist already! I'm so glad I took the plunge.

Keep with it lillibet. Let us know how you get on tomorrow.

You measured yourself?? Shock!

It's bad enough knowing what I weigh, I don't want to now what I measure as well

I knew from past experience that if I tried the two week plan I would fail, so I just started straight on the 1500 per day which my leader said was ok. I do look upon it more as 10500 per week tho' doing about 1200 Mon - Thurs, which leaves me 1900 per day for the weekend.

I'm increasing my walking as best I can, wearing my pedomoter.

15 weeks today off my holidays Smile

Our leader (!) said measuring was a good way of getting through the weeks when you don't lose much or anything! You might have lost inches instead and that will keep your motivation going.

OP posts:
KBear · 29/03/2006 13:19

where are you going on holiday?

Mine is in 8 weeks - going to Scotland so not much call for bikinis but we always get nice weather in May! At least I will be able to wear clothes I already have instead of buying a new load of stuff in a bigger size.

gingernutlover · 29/03/2006 22:39
