I'm still going with the pedometer

managing an average of 8,000 per day

Going to exercise instead of salsa tomorrow - gulp

KBear · 13/04/2006 20:13

Help me, I have a chocolate craving, been looking at Easter eggs everywhere and I want one, I do, I want one. I want to eat it all at once until I feel sick. Help mmmmeeeeeee

gingernutlover · 14/04/2006 10:59

you will enjoy eating but probably feel rubbish after for doing it, if you resist ytou will feel good for not eating it for the whole day (til you see more easter eggs Sad

KBear · 14/04/2006 13:29

The first ones arrived at 8.30 this morning courtesy of BIL. Kids munching as we speak. I confess, I just nicked some from DS. But NO MORE. I am going to tidy up this house now and hide the eggs out of my sight!

I losst 2 1/2 lb on Thursday, which sounds Grin till you realise that it was over 2 weeks and one of those was my second week which should be a good week Sad

But I am determined to loose 1 1/2 next Thursday to make it to a nice round half stone

Much preferred the exercise to the salsa.

KBear · 15/04/2006 18:25

Well done Lilibet! I'm struggling this weekend - what with sodding Easter Eggs everywhere. I haven't had much, just nicked a bit here and there and to be honest didn't even like it BUT I will have to swim like a maniac on Monday. Going to a BBQ tomorrow but I can be sensible there hopefully and no one will really notice (except they will notice that I'm not drinking as much as I would normally ha ha).

We are going to a Baptism tomorrow afternoon and I'm gettinga bit worked up about having nothing nice to wear that fits me

I have so many clothes that won't fasten Sad

the only half decent thing I have is the trouser suit that I wore to their wedding which wasn't that long ago!!

KBear · 15/04/2006 20:31

They'll be so wrapped up in their little one they won't notice what your wearing! Jazz it up with a flower or change the top under the suit maybe?

Just think - in a couple of months time our wardrobe of clothes will fit us again. !

Fallen prey to the chocolate yet?

KBear · 16/04/2006 17:54

Willpower is my middle name.... I'm sitting here looking at 6 unopened Easter Eggs, the remnants of another four plus half a ton of choc and creme eggs the kids got from an easter egg hunt we had at our friend's house this afternoon AND I'VE NOT TOUCHED THEM. Not a bit.

Now as a rule, to follow tradition, I would have eaten at least one of their eggs by now, just to save their teeth you understand. Grin

I tucked into the chocolate after tea, Mil brought us a small box and I ate about half. Apart form that I have been ok

We cooked the meal from Rosemary's last magazine as Fil is trying to loose weight and both our mums have to watch their cholestrol but with a few small changes, and it was actually very nice, the potato and leek soup got an awful lot of compliments and it was good as there was a veggie alternative for me.

I did change the cherry pudding to baked bananas in hot toffee sauce with ice cream tho'!! Blush

Next day off in 2 1/2 weeks when it's my birthday

KBear · 17/04/2006 12:30

Just been bike riding and running over the park! Arms and legs feel like jelly now. Grin

My mate has quit smoking this week so she came too - we are encouraging each other to stay off the fags/choc!

lilibet · 17/04/2006 14:58

Biking and running!!! Shock

You wonderful woman!!

KBear · 17/04/2006 17:40

yeah, don't get over excited, wasn't Olympic standard!!! Weigh day tomorrow - feeling nervous. I think I'm gaining weight by osmosis just having this much chocolate in house!

I think the best thing for weight loss is to stop eating all carbohydrates (pulses, pasta, bread etc). I did this after the birth of my son and stuck to plenty of meat, fish and veg and wieghed less than I did before I was pregnant.

KBear · 17/04/2006 17:58

It's not practical to cut a whole food group out of your diet and it's not sensible either for long periods. You need carbs for energy.

OP posts:
PeachyClair · 17/04/2006 18:40

IMO any diet that cuts out an entire food group is worth avoiding. And isn't there research now that suggestd Atkins, long term, isn't safe for your health? I guess it's OK if you need to lose 5 lbs to zip up your wedding dress and you can live with bad breath and flatulence (yuck) but otherwise I wuld give a wide birth.

I know a friend who has had successful long term weight loss ont he Rosemary Conley plan. TBH, I think all the diet club ones are great (the mainstream ones anyhow- there may well be some idiots out there) and I think that as long as the diets are followed (the key!), the motivational factor helps a lot. Personally, I lost 3 stones with WW, I can't go it alone though. I need to shed 5 lbs and I'll have to go back to do it, I need the weigh in.

elvisjules · 17/04/2006 18:52

Yes I do agree about the danger of cutting out whole food groups mine was a quick fix before I was a bridesmaid. I think WW is great especially with the support network. Long daily walks in the park with DS also help firm up those thighs!

lilibet · 18/04/2006 13:46

Good luck for tonight kbear!

Not bad in spite of being at home with the ds's - I do so much better at work. No temptation and more exercise. Weather been crap here for most of the day so we have just been playing games, but have just managed a short walk with ds2 while the sun was out.

Tomorrow we are going to Waterworld in Stoke, not sure how much swimming there will be but as I've never mastered breaststorke and can only do front crawl I've never been much of a swimmer.

I'm not that confidnet of loosing the 1 1/2 lb I need to make it to the half stone mark because as it's been a long weeeknd I've not stuck to my usual no drinking Monday - Thursday, but apart form Sunday have stuck to the 5% rule.

Are you at work or at home for the Easter hols?

KBear · 18/04/2006 17:17

Both - I work part time. They went back to school today. Must admit, it's harder when they're here.

How many kids have you got lilibet and how old are they? My DD is 7 and my DS is 4.

OP posts:
lilibet · 18/04/2006 17:47

I work 5 days a week but do 9 - 3 so that I can do the school run. Am on leave today and tomorrow, they go back next Monday so they are at a holiday club thingy on Thursday and with my mum on Friday.

Dd is 17 (gulp!!), ds1 is 13 next month and ds2 is 9.

Dd is at college but also works part time at McDonalds so she isn't around to help out with holidays

KBear · 18/04/2006 20:41

drum roll
...................................................................................................................................................

one pound lost.

Trying not to have the 'ump and I know a pound is good BUT this is slow progress huh? Will have to swim more, run more, eat even less.
