Rules of Motivational Monday:
The weekend is the past. You start from now. If not, you'll end up here in a couple of weeks and a few pounds heavier so do it NOW
MM involves healthy eating and some exercise. Your excuses will not be tolerated here.
MM is when we all get back into control and back into the swing of things.
Welcome all and best of luck. :)

sloth - as long as you stay hydrated, and don't faint from hunger, I don't seem the harm in missing the extra calories!

stealth - the old me used to mainline food when bored/sad etc, so could well have stuffed my face on a train journey Blush. I just mainline coffee instead Wink

holo - if it's just one high BP reading, i wouldn't be too concerned. was it gym or gp that did your BP?

O2BinLA · 06/08/2012 20:52

Hi everyone, I want to lose 2-3 stone and am thinking of joining WW. Good idea? Ive started to go to BuggyFit and it's a killer! Snide comment was 'it's hard for some women to lose the baby weight, I mean, you're obviously finding it hard'...ouch. Still, I assume she must have a really miserable homelife Wink reading all of your comments is helping...as is watching the Olympics and wishing I could look like that in a tiny pair of pants (and no, I'm not talking about the shot-putters) Envy

BonkeyHasGOLDMollocks · 06/08/2012 20:59

WW is good.
Easy once you get your head round it. I lost a st at the beginning of the year doing it.

Are you going to go to meetings?

I think that was a opportune moment for 'did you mean to be so rude?' Wink

O2BinLA · 06/08/2012 21:16

I started last week and have my first weigh in on Wednesday...it's scary looking at exactly what I'm eating.

Tried to say something about rudeness, but I was too shocked. Instead I swore in my car on the way home....slightly concerned about my sons first word! Blush

catclarks · 06/08/2012 22:36

Evening everyone. Stepped on the scales this morning and have now gone up to 12 stone I would love to lose about a stone . Finding the school holidays are pushing me towards comfort chocolate so jumping on the Motivational Monday bus is hopefully what I need. Going to put it into 5lb blocks. Aiming to lose the first 5lb in the next 3 weeks. Here goes.....

IOutrunBoltInMySpareTime · 07/08/2012 06:34

I had a bag of crisps and a snack size milky way after we got the set into the van, put the lot into MFP (underestimating 2 hours of lugging set as 90 mins of "moving boxes and household items" as there was a bit of standing round deciding what to move next), and ended the day in negative calories Shock !
I had better lose some weight after this show is finished as I'm taking the same set out of the van today, setting it up, then putting it all back in tomorrow and getting it back out to put away.
Darn touring shows, at least I get a night in a nice B&B and a full English
Bolt the dog indeed! Clearly Usain (I wish I was a tenth as fast)

IOutrunBoltInMySpareTime · 07/08/2012 07:10

I weighed in, still 13st 1, at least my BMI has dipped below 36, I'm getting there on my goal of 35 BMI, 12 something weight. Hopefully my exercise will pay off in a few days.

fluffyraggies · 07/08/2012 07:18

Morning all.

Did good yesterday.
SF at 9.30
SF at 2.30
Square of shortbread at 4ish (cos my eldest made some and i couldn't say no obviously :))
Jacket potato, sprinkle of cheese, sweet corn, little bit of cold pork and a chicken leg at 7.00

Water and 3/4 cups of tea through the day. Nothing else.

Yes, i felt hungry at times. But not in the evening which is my main picking danger zone.

I have decided i really cant face the scales :( Even if i put them near the bath (which is where they make me lightest)

I will use a pair of skinny jeans to measure my weight loss. I was in them a couple of years ago. At the last attempt i could get them up my legs (just) and over my bum, but not do them up at all. I'm guessing i'm 12 or 12 and a half stone. 5' 6. Once i can get in those jeans i'll weigh myself!

Hope every one has a good day today :)

archareastie · 07/08/2012 08:06

sloth all I'd say re: calories and bfing is to make sure you eat lots of nutritious stuff as your body will give lots of nutrients out in milk and you'll just have whatever is left over, so make sure you have enough goodness for yourself IYKWIM. DD here is 17 mo and I'm still feeding twice a day but I was soooooooo hungry all the time when ebf there would have been no way I could have not eaten any bf allowance Envy

Itwillendinsmiles · 07/08/2012 08:54

Just delurking re. the high BP and gym...

I made the mistake of telling my gym at induction that I was on BP medication and they then wouldn't let me exercise until I got a letter (£20 cost but the gym did refund that) from the doctor saying exercise was 'approved' for me.

I think it's an insurance issue for the gyms.

Flojo1979 · 07/08/2012 09:21

Right, I need to go to Tesco and stock up on non fattening food.
Can someone please tell me what to buy, I'm all out of ideas, has anyone got any recipes, that don't involved watery soup or potatoes cos I dont like them

chipsandmayonnaise · 07/08/2012 09:33

Hi Flo if you like fish, then you can top haddock or cod with chopped tomatoes, black olives, capers and shredded basil and wrap it all up in foil and cook in the oven on 200 for 18 minutes. I eat that alot - you can add wedges or salad or rice.

I did okay yesterday- I walked and walked and earned 6 activity points, which I am pleased about. Ate sparingly all day, but had meatballs and spag for dinner with wine.

Today's plan
Bk- spinach soup and boiled egg
lunch- out for lunch. will have a salad and some sort of protein
dinner- chicken and veg filo parcels from a WW recipe.

Flojo1979 · 07/08/2012 09:59

Good idea, i'll buy some fish

MrsPnut · 07/08/2012 10:20

Could I please sneak in and join?
I got my absolute heaviest last summer and have since lost 2 stone but I keep losing motivation and the last two times I have weighed myself I have put a pound on each time.

I have a lot of weight to lose, currently about 7 or 8 stone, and I'm trying to log what I eat on MFP.

TheLightPassenger · 07/08/2012 10:29

Itwill - thanks for the info re:the gyms. If I go back to a gym I may ahem forget the BP meds - as I was mainly put on them as a precaution, as my BP is just over the borderline, and GP got a bit fed up of me promising to lose weight for the last 2 years Blush

MilkshakeMaker · 07/08/2012 10:30

I wish you could lose weight by how tired you are, ds is practicing torture methods by refusing to sleep at night time and I'd easily be a size 0.

TheLightPassenger · 07/08/2012 10:31

Flo - or if you are lazy like me with fish, just a bit of lemon/lime juice and herbs on top also works nicely at flavouring without extra cals.

Hi MrsP and welcome. Well done for getting that first 2 stone off, I think it's quite common to plateau at this point, isn't it, I know I have!

TheLightPassenger · 07/08/2012 10:32

aw Milk, hope this is a passing phase re:sleep. Tiredness is a pain, as its too easy to go for the sugar rush to keep you functioning.

sleepychunky · 07/08/2012 10:33

Hi MrsPnut and welcome! Well done on losing 2 stone already - that's great. I have a lot of weight to lose - I've said 4 stone to start with but when (if) I get there I really want to lose another stone on top of that to take me back to what I weighed just before my wedding 10 years ago. I've been using MFP for 3 weeks and it's been a huge help - my weigh in is a Wednesday and I'm hoping that I will have lost 3lb this week to make it a stone in 3 weeks.
This thread is great for motivation, and so is making your food diary public on MFP as then everybody can see if you've been naughty and the thought of that is a good reason for not doing it!
I'm out today for a work launch event from 12-2 so don't know what I'm going to eat. Will have to wait and see how it goes and maybe stock up at Tesco on the way home in the car.

Goingunderfast · 07/08/2012 10:36

Felt poorly yesterday so didnt cook dh brought home fish and chips! Ate the fish left the chips as luckily they were awful! Had a small slice of new york cheese cake But decided that as i felt sooooo guilty that would be our day off for the week instead of saturday. Still feel poorly but will cook something this evening Smile keep up All your good work ladies x

TheOneWithTheGoldMedals · 07/08/2012 11:07

Welcome MrsPnut and well done on the two stone. I'm jealous.

Hope you feel better soon Going.

Dh is having lunch with Nick Clegg today. Shock
There will be about 20 of them and I'm nervous for him because if he's asked his opinion he won't be popular with everyone around him.

On the plus side nerves for him has made me totally lose my appetite. :)

MrsPnut · 07/08/2012 11:11

Thanks for the welcome.

I suspect I'd not be very popular if asked for my opinion by Nick Clegg either.
Well done sleepy on a stone off in three weeks.

I need to get dressed and go out for a bike ride but can't seem to get moving.

TheOneWithTheGoldMedals · 07/08/2012 11:30

No chance of bike riding here. It's chucking it down as usual! :(

MilkshakeMaker · 07/08/2012 11:37

No chance of bike riding here either, I've taken the wheel off to fix a puncture and can't get the bloody tyre off. Stupid thing, annoying too as I gain 600cals when I ride to work.

So what sort of Tuesday is it today then ladies?

IOutrunBoltInMySpareTime · 07/08/2012 11:45

I cycled to work in the dry (7.20am), I'll get wet on the way home though.
I have freezer leftovers of unknown vintage for lunch, I suspect I'll have to guess most of the ingredients for MFP purposes.
