Can I join you in your quest ladies?

My baby is 6 1/2 months old and I can't fit into any of my old clothes :(. I go back to work in September so really need to fight the flab.

I weigh 12 stone 5 1/2 pounds. I'd like to get down to about 11 stone.

I find tiredness and boredom a real trigger for snacking. I did buy 40 day shred a couple of months ago, but I've only done it once Blush. I do think about doing it quite often though.....if only that counted!

I'm hoping this thread will give me a bit of well needed moral support and a kick up the arse.

TwllBach · 25/06/2012 13:21

How many stone/s do you think are in a dress size? So if I was at the top end of a size 16 and got down to the top end of a size 14, what do you think I would have lost? A stone? I like to break things down so I can mark progress you see...

FurCough I don't have DC so can't sympathise with you on being tired, but I get that chocolate is a bit of a crutch. I have noticed, though, that when I eat chocolate I feel horrible afterwards. I remember when I was dieting five years ago and doing well, I was eating well - fruit and veg basically - and then I had a day where I ate chocolate and then a muffin or a cake and then a bag of sweets (binging!) and the next morning I could really tell. I felt a bit like I had a hangover. Would thinking like that help? It doesn't help me most of the time, because I just eat it anyway Blush but atm because I am feeling motivated, I keep trying to remind myself that it will just make me feel shitty...

I know I am rambling Blush

slothprincess · 25/06/2012 13:23

Oops, I mean 30 day shred......40 day would be even more torture!!!

NeverAgain2 · 25/06/2012 13:35

Hello all

This thread has come at just the right time - I am on a mission, so can I join you please?

Weighed myself this morning and I am 12 stone and 12 lbs Blush I am 5ft 10 and currently a very large size 14. Would love to get down to a comfortable size 12. I don't think that I would make it down to a 10 as have never been that small in my adult life!

Low carb has worked for me before, so that's what I am going for again this time.
Exercise always seems tricky for me to fit in, but have the 30 day shred, so will give that a go too.

Please help me stay on the straight and narrow - I will try not to be too needy (no promises on that score though) Grin

StealthPolarBear · 25/06/2012 13:37

I CAN SMELL CHOCOLATE
Who is it?? COme on, in the bin it goes!

travellingwilbury · 25/06/2012 13:40

Twll for me I know that I will have to lose about two stone to get to a size 14 from 16 , but it depends on height and general body shape I would think .

I know I said I wasn't going to do low carb but I have had a think and I am going to cut out carbs after 4pm , we have our evening meal very late and I don't think it helps having carbs so late .

I am going to have a look on amazon for a good dvd , that should keep me busy for a while and away from the crisps .

Purpletoes · 25/06/2012 13:50

Can I join you too? I have a 4 mo DS. Was on a health kick before pregnancy and started to lose weight but it is now all back on. I am bf and seem to be using it as an excuse to eat cake biscuits etc. Blush
I can start the day well but around 4-5 pm is danger time. For me.
Not sure how much I weigh but have ordered a new scales should arrive tomorrow I am 5 ft 3. I have also ordered the 30 day shred. Grin
Looking forward to the journey with you
Grin

pumpkinsweetie · 25/06/2012 13:52

Can i join too?
Im a 16 and would so love to be a 10, to be able to fit in nice clothes with no lumps and bumps.
Thing is i have no willpower so need help along the way Blush

travellingwilbury · 25/06/2012 14:03

Amazon is hurting my head , I am thinking the Nadia Sawallha dvd looks good , has anybody tried this ?

Too much choice and a lot of scary looking shred ones which I know I am not fit enough to do without throwing up Blush

pumpkin I think willpower is the hardest thing of all to keep up , I just keep thinking that I have got a wedding to go to in less than two weeks and a holiday in a month and I need to at least be making some progress , my first goal is to have lost 1/2 stone in three weeks .

I know I am waffling a lot on here but it is keeping me away from the crisps .

KatoPotato · 25/06/2012 14:07

Registering to join please! I'm 12 stone 7 llbs - but was 13 Stone 10 lbs in January. 5ft 3 and a squashy size 16 - want to be a 10!

Don't think I could hack low carb...

Currently circuit training 3 days per week and Zumba twice weekly. 30 Day shred arrived this morning...

At this very moment I want nothing more than a massive chocolate chip cookie... been to fill up my water bottle instead!

NeverAgain2 · 25/06/2012 14:08

I tried Shred once before - it very nearly killed me, but I do remember that there were 3 levels of intensity - I tried to kid myself that I was not that unfit and could do the middle level - big mistake Grin

FurCough · 25/06/2012 15:13

Grin Stealth

I've thrown the chocolate in the bin. It was honestly harder than chucking away the last half a pack of fags before I gave up smoking a few years ago. I nearly went back in for it Blush

Twll I know what you mean about the Bad Food Hangover. That's a really useful way of thinking about it, thank you.

My danger time is actually after a savoury meal, I need to program myself out of needing something sweet.

Those of you with non-dieting DH / DPs, do you ask them to forgo the cakes and chocolate in the house? I ask because if there's any sugary badness in the cupboards I will just find it and inhale it if I'm flagging particularly horribly. I feel like a total loser to ask DH to give up his ginger cake because I can't be trusted around empty calories ..

TheOneWithTheHair · 25/06/2012 15:19

Try a sweet juice or sweet tea/coffee as a mouth sweetener. It really works. I gave up pudding I didn't need by having a coffee with a sweetener in it.

I get my sweet taste without the chocolate then.

TwllBach · 25/06/2012 15:22

Could you ask him to hide it Fur? and not even tell you he has bought it?

TwllBach · 25/06/2012 15:23

Oooh TheOne I do the same but with peach water, you know the stuff they have in Morrisons/Tesco for 3 for a £1? It's really low calorie but sweet.

TwllBach · 25/06/2012 15:25

Can you tell I am hungry? It's my Danger Zone and I am posting all over MN in an attempt to distract myself Grin I have caved and made another hot chocolate, but I have a shelf full of mars bars, twixes, snickers, kitkats, starburst, werthers, smarties and eccles cakes, not to mention the freezer full of ice creams sitting next to my desk

roguepixie · 25/06/2012 15:48

Ok. I work in lbs and I am ... 209lbs!!!! There are rugby players lighter than me!! Indeed, Mauro Bergamasco is lighter than me Sad. Dear God, how did I let it get to this?

I am a very definite size 16 (probably an 18 in many brands). I hate it.

So, this is it ... day 1. I am following clean eating (low carbs) and exercise.

Good luck to us all.

NeverAgain2 · 25/06/2012 15:51

TwllBach - are you trying to weaken my resolve? - the only thing that you don't mention, that I could devour right now is a peanut butter kitkat!!

MyMamaToldMe · 25/06/2012 15:51

Please can I join too?

I'm currently the heaviest I have ever been - 12st 11lb and a size 16. I would LOVE to be a size 10 again. I've been talking about losing weight for ages now but just haven't done anything about it!

Chocolate and ice cream are my biggest weaknesses. I have now switched to Naked Cocoa Loco instead of eating chocolate while I try to wean myself off. My DH and I are also trying to follow the Clean and Lean diet - basically it cut out all the crap.

HOWEVER, I am going to an Afternoon Tea this afternoon in London, so diet is not happening today! Although I have tried to be good today in anticipation of this afternoon. Had a yogurt (with honey) and an apple for brekkie, a salad with a small peice of salmon for lunch followed by one of my Naked Cocoa Loco's. Not too bad I hope?

As far as exercise is concerned, I really struggle with this one. I need to find time for it, but where? I work full time (in a very busy role) and go home straight after work to deal with dinner, bath and bed for my 4yo DD. By then it's 8pm and I am too knackered to think about exercise. I do walk a mile to and from the station Mon - Fri and from the station to work too (about half a mile), but am very aware for the rest of the time I just sit on my derriere! I think I need work on my mindset and just find the time!!!

BigBadBear · 25/06/2012 16:05

Can I join too?

I am 10st 11lb, 5ft 4in, and I really need to stop saying that I've just had a baby as she's two and a half Blush. I'm a size 12, but would like to be a size 10 again, and really want to be 9 stone something, rather than 10 stone something.

I love cooking and eating (not unhealthy stuff, just more than I should), so am planning to do it through exercise. I started the 30 Day Shred on Saturday. Anyone else doing that?

justwanderingalong · 25/06/2012 16:08

Hi can I join too? I have no idea what weight I am (don't own scales) but I am size 14 creeping up to 16 which is a bit big for my 5ft 4in height. It's mainly my stomach that is bothering me.

I did manage to shrink from size 16/18 to 10/12 last year but was from not eating through stress and side effects of AD's. Slowly over the last couple of months the weight has been creeping back on and suddenly I've realised I need to take action if want to stop it.

leander · 25/06/2012 16:10

Ok im in , currently size 16/18, (tight 16s) would love to get to a 10 , no particular timeframe, just want to lose as much as possible for my holiday in August .

TheOneWithTheHair · 25/06/2012 16:11

Well after saying I wasn't going to eat chocolate I finished ds's half chocolate digestive. Blush

Compared to what I normally have I'm doing exceptionally well though.

Tomorrow if ds is better I will use my gym membership while he is at play group.

I hate that I love chocolate if that makes sense.

justwanderingalong · 25/06/2012 16:17

I've heard loads about shred but don't low anybody that's tried it. Is it really hard going. Just now I don't really do any exercise but plan to start walking more including to and from town which is nearly 2 miles away and we're getting a puppy so will be out walking it and also at park more with kids since school breaks up this week for summer.

slothprincess · 25/06/2012 16:29

Purpletoes, I'm BFing too and have got into the bad habit of stuffing my face with loads of crap! Some baby weight dropped off quickly over the first couple of hellish months but I think I've actually put weight back on now Blush.

Justwanderingalong, someone else may be able to tell you more about shred as I've been rubbish and only done it once. It was hardcore but you only do 20 mins and the workouts are graded according to your level. I'm very very unfit but mangaged to get through the easiest level.
