Can I join too? I want to go from a size 16 to a size 10 too. Although would be happy with a size 12.

The weight has just crept up on me, had ds 5 months ago but never lost the weight from dd which was 31/2 years ago. I seem to have a mental block to diets. It's like I'm never going to see food again and I stuff myself!

I will download my fitness pal.

MilkshakeMaker · 25/06/2012 07:27

It doesn't matter what we start with TheOneWithHair, its every week and what we end with that counts Smile

May I join you please, I'm a (tight!) 18 wanting to get back to a 12 or even a 10 if I can.

I have been low carbing for a week, I am depending a lot on protein shakes at the moment as life is very busy right now but in a few weeks I will have chance to focus on a new way of cooking/meal planning so will evolve as I go.

I have serious back problems involving damage to my spinal cord meaning that anything high impact is really bad for me and my left leg is very weak and unreliable so I am having a go at doing a Callanetics DVD instead. I plan to go to the swimming pool to exercise in a few weeks but they have closed my local one and the new one isn't open yet.

I know what I weighed when I started last Tuesday but I'm not comfortable sharing it, I may do when I have weighed in tomorrow but probably not, I hope that's okay.

TheOneWithTheHair · 25/06/2012 08:28

Hi Oddboots. You don't have to put your weight as far as I'm concerned.

Would you explain exactly what low carbing is to me please?
I've heard of it but am unsure. Is it just no bread, rice, potatoes etc?

OddBoots · 25/06/2012 08:40

Thank you. :)

I'm probably not the best person to advise on low carb, I think the Bootcamp thread (rules are here) is probably better because I am just taking a stab at it, I am just sticking to high protein things and not having the bread etc but there are proper ways to do it that I'll look into in a few weeks.

StealthPolarBear · 25/06/2012 08:52

Milkshake - 12st 5lb
StealthPolarBear - 12st 10lb

Milkshake, you started this at just the right time. I did really well last week, then had the weekend off (but planned and still careful, just not calorie counting and I did treat myself). I have no problems with having the weekend off as long as I pick up where I left off on Monday morning, and that is usually the problem. But you are inspiring me with this thread. By Monday morning, I want to be where you are now :o

Twll, sorry to hear about your bad night, and I completely empathise with eating when tired - not being flippant but I do blame the DCs' poor sleeping for the first 2 years of DD's life for soem of this weight gain. Food kept me upright when I was falling over with tiredness and now they both sleep well I have the mental energy to focus on my health.

Am making a huge minestrone soup for tonight, hope the kids eat it :o Should be low calorie, especially if I can resist bread.

I am really odd - can go all day without eating until the evening, especially if I'm at work, distracted and food's not easily to hand. But if I do have something, that can somehow make me want to eat more, snack. I'm like an addict :(

StealthPolarBear · 25/06/2012 08:53

Meant to say Milkshake, i like the idea of sort of summarising the day at the end of each day and others can be honest about how it's gone. So if I've had a thiurd day of pigging out on choolate, please be honest and tell me, that's fine, but I'm unlikely to lose weight!

ChampionProcrastinator · 25/06/2012 09:18

Can I join too?

I started the year intending to lose the excess pounds before the Summer holidays and now it's nearly the end of June and I haven't done anything about it - I think I need someone to shout at me encourage me so that I actually do it. It's not just weight either - my stomach looks like I'm about 6 months pregnant and I'm very unfit.

I'm 10st 5 (size 14/16 on bottom half) and to start with would like to lose at least 5lbs to get myself back in the healthy weight zone for my height. Ideally I would be around 9st and a size 10/12.

Have myfitnesspal so will start actually using it and will dust off my davina dvd's and try just to stop sitting around on my backside quite so much.

TheOneWithTheHair · 25/06/2012 09:39

Well I'm back from the school run and I've weighed myself for the first time in about 14years. I'm currently 12st 4 so not as bad as I thought.

I think because my clothes size had gone up so much I just imagined I was about 16st.

It actually seems reasonable to get to 10st now. When I get there I will see how I feel/look and decide if I need to lose more.

TheOneWithTheHair · 25/06/2012 09:51

Oh and can I be let off exercise in a formal format today please? I have poorly ds2(3) at home and all he wants to do is lie on me. :(

He had an afternoon nap yesterday for the first time since he was 11months. I should have known then that all was not well.

StealthPolarBear · 25/06/2012 09:53

:( hope he' better soon
Am Blush that loads of you are starting diets at a weight I'd be pleased to get to after a year of diets

travellingwilbury · 25/06/2012 10:07

Can I join too please ?

I am the heaviest I have ever been bar pregnancy . I would love to be a size 12 , I don't think I will ever see a size 10 again and actually I am very happy at a 14 .

Okay deep breath

I am now 13.4

I am not going to low carb because I just can't stick to it and I end up craving carbs far too much and it makes me grumpy Grin
I am going to just be sensible and stop eating like a pig and do some excercise .

Good luck to everyone .

Eggrules · 25/06/2012 10:47

Weighed myself (after wee obv.) I am heavier than when I was pregnant. Toast and wine has kept me awake and alive.

Day 1 Using Food Focus - trying to stick to 1500 calories per day, low carb after 3pm and no eating after 7pm. I'll be walking this week and starting Shred DVD next week.

Working from home means I need to be more disciplined about eating 3 meals and 3 healthy snacks at set times. I've started with a yoghurt and banana and am drinking water.

It is time to make small changes to make a big difference. If I loose 1lb per week, I could be 2 stones lighter by Christmas.

StealthPolarBear · 25/06/2012 10:54

I had a banana blended with 100ml of skimmed milk last week whxih was like q milkshake and quite satisfying.
I must start shred

KateSpade · 25/06/2012 10:57

Thankyou Bobble
I already do the bottom lifting type exercises, and i find the bicycle crunch quite difficult, but i will switch everything up, and do a mixture of all them.

Its so frustrating. I feel like i have to work 10X harder than everyone else with my body. I have no metabolism, have to constantly diet! FFS.

TwllBach · 25/06/2012 10:57

Me too Stealth Sad
I haevn't weighed myself yet, but I know that I feel about as heavy as I did five years ago and I was about 15 and a half stone then. It makes me sad to think that in those five years I lost three stone and then have evidently put it all back on again SadSad

This thread is already working for me because I have spent the morning in the kitchen with the chef cooking breakfasts and thought i was starving but didn't put on any toast for me! I have had half a glass of cheap, foul orange juice and have been ignoring my 'hunger pangs' and am over them now Grin hot chocolate at 12 for me!

Go team!

travellingwilbury · 25/06/2012 10:59

I realy need to do more excercise , can anyone recommend a dvd ? Mot the shred I think that might actually kill me Grin

I am going to move my furniture and clean the floors , wish me luck I have no idea what is lurking under my sofa . I could be some time but I will be keeping busy and moving my arse so that has got to be a good thing hasn't it ?

TheOneWithTheHair · 25/06/2012 11:01

TwilBach what other liquids do you drink during the day? Can it just be coffee and water?

I think this is more suited to me than the low carb thing. I can't get my head around that one. Confused

Eggrules · 25/06/2012 11:03

Going to pop out for a walk in a bit.

When I get back I will either make:
Butternut squash & sweet potato soup with Chinese five spice,
Vegetable curry

StealthPolarBear · 25/06/2012 11:05

Twll, don't see it like that (tho I do uderstand). In the past you have dieted nd lost weight. You've proved you can do it. It works for you. It will work again.
Didn't realise you worked in a kitchen, that's willpower! When I worked in a restaurant I couldn't resist leftovers :(

buzzgirly · 25/06/2012 11:09

At the moment I am doing no exercise at all. That along with my constant grazing is not helping. Is Shred good then? Does it have quick results? I think that if I could lose some weight quickly that it would spur me on!

TwllBach · 25/06/2012 12:30

travelling I've got a few 'Ten Minute' DVDS - one for pilates and one for...err....something else. Something cardio based I think. I found the pilates one useful because it breaks it down in to sections, so ten minutes on arms, ten on abs etc. When I was being good I would do a section when I got up in the morning because I would think to myself "ten minutes is nothing" and I would feel better for it.

TheOne I try and drink a lot of water, but I'm really bad at remembering! Would just drinking coffee and water not send you in to a bit of a caffeine fuelled mania though? I don't drink it and I'm sure you could say the same for me and sugar, but to me it sounds like you might get a bit headachey on coffee and water? I wish I could kick start myself just by eating healthily, but it's a mindset thing Sad

travellingwilbury · 25/06/2012 12:58

Thanks Twll 10 mins sounds perfect to me , I suppose I can than do a couple if I am feeling motivated and have the time .

I am trying not to think about the food thing too much today so as a distraction I am cleaning , the house really is a bit of a tip so hopefully I will end up lighter and with a tidy house .

TheOneWithTheHair · 25/06/2012 13:05

I seem to have a pretty high tolerance for caffine these days due to ds2 who has a sleep intolerance. Grin

I know it's not healthy but it's a survival technique. Blush

FurCough · 25/06/2012 13:13

I need to join you. I really do, but I have zero willpower atm :(

I have a 3yo and a 3mo and I'm sooooooo tired. Chocolate is my evil best friend.

I'm 12st-something and a size 16, I just want to lose a bit of podge and be 10 1/2 st again and a size 12. I'm 5'7".

I'd be beside myself with joy if I got there but I just can't see myself taking the first leap.

Thanks for the link, bobble I need to do some ab work. Currently it looks like I have nothing to hold my innards 'in' IYKWIM and a near-flat tum at 7am turns into a giant paunch by 7pm as it's filled with food Shock That is Not Right.
