If you've poked your head around the door of this thread then please read ourOld Thread, read all the posts, all the links and the links within links and then jump in with both feet to a new, better Way Of Eating (WOE)

Roll Up, Roll Up for the all new, amazing thread for those of us who are trying to eat good, healthy, natural foods while counting our calories and eating LOADS!

We had some brilliant successes on the last thread - inches AND pounds lost and lots of people feeling happier, calmer and more focussed on their goals.

Remember that this is NOT a DIET, it is a healthy way of eating. You will NOT lose 5lbs a week - you might even GAIN weight in the first weeks!

I'm having nut milk cos I LIKES it, also it has marginally less calories than cows milk AND it's less dodgy ethically (Wink) AND its better for my asthma..

Tobes has it because she has a hatred of normal milk...

I've never tried soy I don't think, it makes me gip to think of it - which is weird, I'm not usually so sensitive. Grin

Evening all

Mrsmango 7lbs Shock Wow, that is amazing. Is that in 1 week??

As I am SAFTFBS, I have no idea how things are going plus I am due my period any day which always makes me blow up like a balloon so don't think I will get a feel for whether I am moving in the right direction until after then.

To those of you querying why it is hard to eat 2000+ calories, trust me, I would have no problem in doing that if it involved cakes, chocolate, sweets, McD's, takeaways, vast amounts of alcohol etc - it is eating 2000 healthy calories that I am struggling with.

However, I have just finished off my diary for today and I have managed to only be minus 1 on my carbs (which for me is a massive achievement!), minus 5 on the fats - still under on my protein but I am trying. I used to have 2 weetabix when I come in from work to tide me over until we have tea when the DC are in bed but today, I just didn't want it so had 2 babybels and a packet of Walkers squares as I have run out of nuts instead - am such a carb-addict that this was quite an achievement that I actually fancied protein snacks instead.

TobyLerone · 12/06/2012 20:58

My carbs are far higher than they should be, and protein is way low. I shudder to think how many carbs I was eating before starting this WOE, when I wasn't trying to eat healthily.

I think a lot of my carbs are coming from fruit, though, so I'm not too worried. Do need to get my protein higher though, so have bought some small packs of ham/chicken to take to work to eat by themselves as a snack.

Trills · 12/06/2012 21:23

I've got some chicken too Toby.

I've approximated a fridge oatmeal with soya milk and oats and Green and Blacks cocoa and some flaked almonds. We'll see tomorrow if it's any good...

bucketbetty · 12/06/2012 21:28

I've lost it. I've gone way over my allowance for the past week and I've been eating crap almost none stop. I'm haven't seen any weight loss at all and have given up somewhat. Any ideas for getting back on track?

Trills · 12/06/2012 21:42

Ideas for getting back on track : start now.

Plan the tasty and healthy and feel-goody things that you are going to eat tomorrow. Look at your schedule and see if you can fit in some exercise. Think to yourself "I will feel better if I do that"

Does that work?

ShirleyKnot · 12/06/2012 22:03

Might need something sweet in there Trills - a spoonful of honey or something similar.

Bucket - just do it! This is not a difficult, restrictive way to live - but you do need to commit to the process and decide that you are going to eat well, exercise a bit and get healthy. Go back, re-read the old thread, read some links, especially this and get your motivation going again!

You can do this!

TobyLerone · 12/06/2012 22:04

What Trills said. Start tomorrow, forget how you've been eating up to now and just start again like it's the first day.

DP was stirring my fridge oatmeal this evening and got a bit on his hand, so he licked it off. He said it was so delicious that he had to make himself some :)

Trills, you might want to put some honey in your oatmeal or something else to sweeten it or it'll be horrid!

TobyLerone · 12/06/2012 22:05

X-post with our leader :o

Trills · 12/06/2012 22:12

I'll add honey as necessary tomorrow then. If I do it now I'll probably add too much or something. Thanks :)

Chicken and noodles and veg in broth was lovely by the way.

quirkychick · 12/06/2012 22:13

Bucketbetty just start again tomorrow. Plan some yummy, healthy food. Meal planning really stops that grab the nearest crap thing.

I have made some cherry almond fridge oatmeal which sounds yummy. I liked the strawberry vanilla one but not the chocolate one so much. Though chocolate and almond sounds delish!

mumat39 · 13/06/2012 00:20

MrsMango. WOW!! Well Done that's brilliant!

Toby, I got my fuel band and so far LOVE it. I've only set it up and charged it so far but it'll be interesting what it records tomorrow. By the way, how does yours fit? I went for the small size but its a bit snug as it comes. I can't fit the 16mm link on it's own (even though I think that would fit better) so have both links on. But it feels a bit loose, like a bracelet. How sung is yours and do you know if the 16mm link should work by itself? I'm wondering if there's a problem with it.

mumat39 · 13/06/2012 00:21

that should say interesting to see what it records tomorrow.

TobyLerone · 13/06/2012 07:08

Congrats on the Fuelband, mumat :)

Mine is a small with no extra links and it's snug enough not to annoy me. I have the wrists and hands of a child :o
I know it would have got on my nerves had it been any bigger, as I don't ever wear jewellery of any kind normally, so am unused to things flapping about on my wrists.

So I don't know about the extra links. Google might be able to help. Or the Nike people are quite helpful on twitter.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 13/06/2012 07:13

I've had a nosy through some of your food diaries, and I think I'm not eating enough breakfast. I need to get some protein shakes.

Toby what is a fuelband?

bibbetybobbityboo · 13/06/2012 08:05

Well i had a naughty trip to pizza hut last night and consumed a vast quantitiy of calories so didn't end up being the best day yesterday but never mind. If we can't have pizza hut pizza once in a while whats the point eh!! Scales showing a whisker under 80kg today but already i have noticably more energy and for the first time in..well i cant remember how long, i didn't fall asleep on the sofa early. I went to bed when i chose to instead of not being able to keep my eyes open any longer. I guess my body isnt running out of go because its got no calories left to use! Right off to plan todays meals now...

MrsMangoBiscuit · 13/06/2012 08:44

Ali, I can thoroughly recommend the myprotein shakes that Shirley, er, recommended. Grin

I just ordered a big bag of the toffee flavour one as it's very nice in both shakes with just water, or with milk, or in smoothies. Oats, banana, hazelnut milk, flax and toffee shake tastes like banoffee pie. Anyone ordering more than samples, I think you can get 5% off with a referer code, and points for the referer. Can I post your code Shirley? Grin

addictediam · 13/06/2012 09:08

I went to the my protine website but i got all confused by all the diffrent catogories and got out of there. Can any very kind person link some nice tasting samples? I also need to eat more for breakfast.

ShirleyKnot · 13/06/2012 09:24

Yes Mango! I'll post it!

Referrers Code - MP633252

You don't have to enter this but if you are ordering for the first time then I think I get a few points if you do.

Addicted Here is the page for the 99p samples. In the box marked "Flavour" you can click for a drop down list of all available flavours. I like all of them, but I bought a 1kg bag of the banoffee. When I've finished that one I'm going to go for the vanilla.

Right, stupid question, but how much difference does a protein shake make to your protein intake?

Today, for example, my food diary includes a fair bit of protein, IMO, but I'm still only at 22%. I'm determined to get it up to nearer 30%! Over 20% is a rarity for me at the moment.

MrsMangoBiscuit · 13/06/2012 10:04

1 shake is 10% of my daily protein. Making it into a smoothie for a snack also stamps out any urge to nibble on carby things as I'm too full.

TobyLerone · 13/06/2012 10:05

Really? That high? Perhaps I will order some, then, seeing as I'm braving the nut milk (fnar) smoothies anyway.

bunjies · 13/06/2012 10:08

Fantastic achievement MrsMango.

I bought a weight training book ages ago as I'd been thinking about giving it a go for a while. But then life got in the way and we moved town etc and I didn't make a start. Dusted the book off last night and am ready to give it a go. I want to get some of my own weights so I can do them at home but not sure was weight of dumb bells to get. The book doesn't specifically mention what weight to get as I suppose it's different for each person.

TobyLerone · 13/06/2012 10:14

Right, I have ordered a few samples. Entered Shirley's code and got a whacking 15p discount! Win-win :o
