Thanks. Yes, a good day so far...but there is half a bottle of red wine looking at me now.

megabored · 10/04/2012 20:40

Here's a story. I have a analogue weighing scale. To get more accuracy, I purchased a digital one. Arrived today. How depressing. It is more accurate. So instead of weighing 67 kg like I though I weighed, I actually weigh 69kg. Sad

Hopefully · 10/04/2012 21:09

Mega I had that happen when we replaced our scales a month or two ago. Majorly depressing. I'm used to my 'new' weight now (after dieting for about 8 weeks I am down to what my old scales said I was before. Grr)

Sparkling my gut took a while to, ahem, acclimatise to my healthy eating when I started, but I feel so much better now. The downside is that when I indulge (like I did on the weekend, in spectacular fashion) I feel absolutely awful, and have gut ache/bloatiness for a couple of days afterwards.

House well done! I bloody hate swimming. It's amazingly good for whole body toning, I hear.

Have been reasonably good today, but have eaten pret much every single last calorie of my allowance, despite running this morning and having a Jillian session this evening. I have realised that I am much, much better at exercising more than at eating less, so I am attempting to do Ripped/Shred 4-5 times a week and run 3 times a week (I overlap them, so I tend to have at least one rest day a week, usually 2).

Does anyone record/monitor their water intake? I thought I was pretty good, but I have been making a real effort to drink plenty today and actually monitor it, and have only drunk 6 glasses (under half a pint per glass). Normally I would have drunk much less. Am hoping that upping my water will mean magically losing approximately 8lbs, as all diet magazines tell you to drink lots Wink

cbmum · 10/04/2012 21:14

Oh dear megabored, on the plus side tomorrow is another day!

I've just 'cleared' another Easter egg from my collection but due to a combination of an early morning jog, then biking to collect 2 little people from nursery appear to have neutralised it's effect. Well, that's what the App says - the scales will tell I suppose!

readysteadymummy · 10/04/2012 21:31

Meeee! I need to lose a stone and a half before I go on holiday in June. Would love to be able to wear a bikini again- haven't dared since having my son in October Blush

heliumballoons · 10/04/2012 22:08

I may get closer to the target quicker than planned - I seem to have eaten something that doesn't agree with me. Grin

DoUntoOtters · 11/04/2012 07:40

Good morning everyone. I am up and drinking a pint of hot water and lemon. I'm sure I heard that that was the way to kick start your body. Hmm

I'm building up to putting new batteries in the wii board so that I can weigh myself. A brief inspection of my wobbly bits in the bath last night has suggested that I'm going to be 23 - 25lbs over my happy weight. We shall see.

I hope that the unhappy stomachs have calmed down although a few days not eating is probably the kick start I need

Sparklingbrook · 11/04/2012 07:46

Morning all. Here with my pint of water for day 2. Grin

sassytheFIRST · 11/04/2012 08:07

So I've lost 2lbs in 3 days! I know it's just water, but it helps, no? .

Supposed to be taking the children swimming, and posssibly to a climbing wall later so that will help on the negative calories at MFP.

Not hungry/missing food. Yet!

mrspepperpotty · 11/04/2012 08:13

Morning all.

Yesterday was not perfect but not too bad, that was my warm-up and today I am going to be really good. Bring on the water!

DoUntoOtters · 11/04/2012 08:18

I'm back and I have weighed myself. Not as bad as I feared. Grin 15lbs to shift to get to my summer-before-last weight which is when I last felt happy with how I looked. Another half a stone from there puts me smack in the middle of my healthy BMI range.

Although I'm really pleased that the scales were not as scary as I thought, I can't get my head around only having just over a stone to lose. I feel so lumpy and lethargic and out of shape. Do you think it is my age? I've just turned 44. I have been heavier than this when I was younger and not felt so blobby. Confused I've also noticed in the last few years that I carry weight differently - it's all hips and thighs these days.

Anyway, onwards and upwards. The sun is shining and I plan to get busy with the housework. Maybe even a bit of gardening.

Hopefully · 11/04/2012 08:18

Otters well done on the water! I get really sensitive teeth if I have lemon and hot water every morning, but it sounds terribly healthy and good.

Have been for a run this morning - will enjoy my 'lie in' till 6:30am tomorrow!

Am almost a pound down on my post-indulgent-weekend weight. Good to know that at least some of it was just bloat Grin

Sassy it's all about earning extra calories on MFP - I am crap at staying within my calories if I don't earn lots extra with exercise.

Hopefully · 11/04/2012 08:21

X-post Otters. How fit are you? I am actually about half a stone heavier than I normally am at this size (iykwim), but much fitter than I have been for years. Maybe some exercise would give you some energy and make you feel a bit better?

DoUntoOtters · 11/04/2012 08:36

I think I'm pretty fit, Hopefully. My daily school run is about 6 miles, and I'm a very active person day-to-day although I don't do any structured exercises - classes or gym or whatnot.

I have been terrible with bread and cakey stuff recently - homemade bread, hot cross buns, crumpets, the list goes on and on. I wonder if it's the refined carbs which not only make my thighs expand, but also make me feel dopey.

So, I'm cutting out all bread, pasta, potatoes, rice and flour. Upping my leafy green veg and water intake, and avoiding snacks and booze. I want to stick to this for at least a fortnight and then I'll see how I feel. Hoping that it will boost my mood and shift a few pounds.

megabored · 11/04/2012 19:05

How many calories does breastfeeding use up? I am feeding a 3 month old. Eating healthy. Not dieting but watching the portions. I did well today. Stayed within my calories, cleaned all the doors and windows in the house. Now for the shred. Then I will put my feet up and enjoy the apprentice while munching on healthy grapes!Grin

Hopefully · 11/04/2012 20:20

Mega I'm not sure exactly - I think your body becomes better at using the calories it does take in rather than needing loads more (bit like being pregnant - it's why lots of women get constipated in pregnancy apparently - the body slows the gut down to absorb more from food. No idea if this is actually true, but have read it somewhere), but I'm sure I've read that you can allow yourself a couple of hundred extra calories a day for BFing.

Cannot face Shred this evening, have too much to do and managed a run earlier and a bit of a walk round town (although very leisurely, as was chatting to a friend). Think I may just remain within my MFP calorie allowance though.

puds11 · 11/04/2012 20:34

ok, plan for tomorrow is as follows:
Wake up and have pint of water followed by fruit tea
Breakfast: slim fast shake
Lunch: slim fast shake
Snack: Carrot sticks and hummous (if its not mouldy) pint of water
Tea: not sure yet
Exercise: Zumba wii 20mins, walk to nursery and back.

DoUntoOtters · 11/04/2012 20:40

Google says 2,200 calories megabored but more important is that your diet includes a wide range of foods except processed ones. Salt seems to be the issue there.

Have had a good day food-wise and kept carbs low, but I've got a really thick headache now. I think that's normal for the first few days so I'm planning to get an early night and hope it passes.

cbmum · 11/04/2012 21:05

Hi there. Not a great day on the exercise front (I don't count a stroll to a cafe on a work related lunch networking session!) then home via nursery, bedtime, more work and now food. MFP reckons I've had just under 1600 cals which is over my daily allowance.

On the plus side work was somewhat manic and I chose 4 little lollies for a sugar hit throughout the day instead of the usual chocolate hit. Baby steps I suppose Blush

PuffPants · 11/04/2012 21:12

Can I join in please? Have lurked on these threads before but never actually committed to the cause! I want to lose half a stone to get back to my pre-baby weight. Although, in all fairness, I can't really blame it all on the baby as I did actually hit that target when he was about a year old but have since crept up through sheer mindless grazing... and also not really caring quite as much as I once did. Which is scary really, and my main reason for wanting to shift it.

Off on holiday 3 weeks tomorrow so that's my goal - I start first thing!

PuffPants · 11/04/2012 21:52

Ooh Puds11 just noticed we are starting at the same weight - 9.11 - with the same goal of 9.4. Like you, there was a time I would have wept at 9.4, now I'd be thrilled Grin

Have heroically cleared the kitchen of all leftover Easter eggs and related items (would like to say I binned it but...er...you know the rest) and am ready to blast the belly.

Oh, can anyone recommend a iPhone or iPad app for calories in/out?

megabored · 11/04/2012 22:25

"Puff pants", try myfitnesspal. Someone here recommended it and I am hooked on it. It's very easy to use.

megabored · 11/04/2012 22:27

Thankyou for the data on breastfeeding.

sassytheFIRST · 11/04/2012 23:38

Hungry tonight. Bah.

Won't crack tho.

megabored · 12/04/2012 05:46

I find that going to beg early helps with the night hunger thing.
