Bed. Finger brain malfunction. Hmm

Hopefully · 12/04/2012 06:16

Early bed is the only solution to not eating in the evening, I have discovered!

Puffpants My Fitness Pal is by far the best app of the ones I had a quick browse of when I was looking for one, and I've got no complaints about it! I also like Map My Run and Couch to 5k for exercise registering.

cbmum 1600 calls should still be plenty low enough to lose, albeit slowly, so it still counts as a good day in my world!

Tried to have a no-run-lie-in this morning, and both DSs up at 6, which never happens Sad. Normally get till at least 6:30 with one, and DH normally gets up if it's just the other. Boo.

DoUntoOtters · 12/04/2012 08:20

Good morning, everyone. I've got my hot water and lemon on the go. Cold and wet here, but I'm feeling positive.

Day 3 of low-carbing, and already my stomach feels less bloated. We had chicken curry last night and I resisted both the rice and the naan bread. Instead I did the Idiot Proof Diet cauliflower rice substitute, which was Ok, and surprisingly filling.

Are the rest of you all calorie counting?

Hopefully · 12/04/2012 08:43

I'm calorie counting and sticking to whole foods. I can cut down my carbs a bit (to about 40% of my calorie intake) but I feel enormously deprived doing v low carb and just fall off the wagon.

megabored · 12/04/2012 09:49

I also started the lemon in hot water thing yesterday. It's nice. Atleast it makes me drink more water. Being vegetarian, low carb is hard to do for me. So am counting calories and being more active. What is cauliflower rice? Must google it and find out. Hmm

DoUntoOtters · 12/04/2012 10:20

For cauliflower rice, you just blitz the cauliflower so it is like coarse breadcrumbs, then sauté it in butter. Proper Atkins people add double cream, I think. It is bland, like rice, but tricks you into thinking that you are not actually missing out. Grin

mrspepperpotty · 12/04/2012 16:05

Otters, I am not calorie counting strictly, but I have done WW a couple of times (with some success) so I know more or less what I can eat in a day if I want to lose weight. Have tried low carb as well in the past but didn't enjoy it at all. Thanks for the cauliflower rice tip, might try that!

Hopefully · 12/04/2012 20:31

Cauliflower rice sounds interesting. Might have to give it a try.

Have been pretty good today, no proper exercise, but good long walk pushing pram with DS1 on the buggy board and DS2 in the pram earlier, so have moved a bit. An just buying a flake to console myself for crappy day with DS2 today (teething + separation anxiety + frustration at not being able to crawl + high needs baby at the best of times = a rather frazzled me), but am refusing to feel guilty.

cbmum · 12/04/2012 22:08

hopefully cracking with a flake is a result if you look at my food today diary on MFP. The day was going ok until I got home and found tea was sausage, chips, baked beans, apple pie & ice cream. Comfort food provided by my mum who looks after my girls on a Thursday. Once you're in that bad what's some Easter egg on top right?! Sad

No work tomorrow though so lots of buggy pushing seems on the cards plus an exercise session.

Sparklingbrook · 12/04/2012 22:09

Hi all. Still here, on the wagon eating celery and carrots instead of cake and chocolate. Grin

So far so good.

TerraNotSoFirma · 12/04/2012 22:34

Well I only stared today as that is how long it took to rid the house of easter eggs/bunnies via my mouth (I could NEVER throw chocolate away)

I ate healthily and drank loads of water (cant find those bloody slim fast shakes, I know they are around here somewhere)

And I er.....watched the callanetics dvd, Does watching it count? Looks bloody hard!

Am off to bed now as feeling very peckish.(Must have worked up an appetite with all that watching)

Hopefully · 13/04/2012 06:55

Terra I'll be really interested to hear how you get on with the callanetics (when you, erm, progress to actually doing it Grin)

Sparkling sounds like you are being v restrained.

cbmum your diary isn't open - I love nosing, open it up women! Then I can live vicariously through you and your apple pie.

Have just been for a run but had weird stitch throughout, so had my first run since starting (3 weeks ago, I think) which was slower than the one before. Still gained myself and extra 200 calories, so I'm not complaining. If I can squeeze in a Shred later I'll be happy.

Also finally back down to what I weighed last Friday before the Easter food-fest commenced. Am going to be more careful while we're away this weekend (visiting major foodie friends Sad. I want to eat, dammit) and only indulge at one meal, rather than non-stop all weekend. It's so frustrating working all week just to work off the previous weekend, and I've been in that trap for about three weeks now. Have arranged for us to take lunch tomorrow, which will help slightly as I will do a baked ratatouille thing with cheese on top (but not too much!) and nice fresh bread, which I will only have a teeny bit of.

glenthebattleostrich · 13/04/2012 07:29

Hello,

Can I join pleeaaassseeee?

I need to lose about 2 stone (not been brave enough to weigh myself yet). Started eating a bit healthier yesterday and am going to start the Shred today. I think I'm about 12 1/2 stone and want to be nearer 10. I've got a friends wedding to go to at the end of May and would love to lose half a stone by then.

Does anyone want to be my friend on MFP? My username is Jeffercake.

DoUntoOtters · 13/04/2012 08:32

Morning everyone.

Day 4 and I've got my hot water and lemon. I want to weigh myself to see if it has made a difference yet, but I'm holding off until I've done a whole week.

Really grumpy yesterday for no reason. Hmm Is that some sort of carb withdrawal?

megabored · 13/04/2012 08:52

Slipped up yesterday. Did not manage shred nor a walk and ate too much. Need to put it right. Angry

mrspepperpotty · 13/04/2012 09:08

Today's another day, megabored, and hope you are feeling less grumpy Otters!

I was good yesterday (porridge for breakfast, jacket potato for lunch, fish in tomato sauce for supper, chocolate intake limited to one mini egg!) and went for a run this morning before DH left for work. Not much planned for this weekend, which should help - Hopefully, I agree it's really hard when you visit foodie friends. Good luck with staying strong!

PuffPants · 13/04/2012 09:22

I had a decent first day - my biggest discovery was dark chocolate, what a revelation! Always found it yak in the past but tried Lindt 70% and was pleasantly surprised - best thing about it is it doesn't make me crave the whole bar but takes the edge off my desire for the really good stuff!

I am usually a chocolate fiend. I really think not consuming so much sugar yesterday made me just feel better inside Smile

megabored · 13/04/2012 11:17

Mrs pepper potty, well done. I've done the shred already today and will go for a long walk with pram (ofcourse with baby inside the pram) Hmm . Feeling better already. Also have downloaded the mapmywalk app. Aiming to walk 5 km today.

megabored · 13/04/2012 11:18

Otters, I get like that sometimes too. Ensure you are not low in blood sugar by eating regularly but small portions. Or have a banana.

glenthebattleostrich · 13/04/2012 12:30

Started well today, granola for breakfast and a ham salad sandwich for lunch, I've even managed to resist crisps so far today! Forgot how much I like rabbit food :)

Need to do the shred this afternoon and clean my kitchen so should keep me busy and away from the snacks hopefully.

megabored · 13/04/2012 16:23

did well today and the day is not over yet!! Wooo hooo! Did the shred in the morning and a 7km walk in the afternoon. Nice summer dresses, here I come.

glenthebattleostrich · 13/04/2012 17:32

Started to do the Shred when DD was napping, unfortunatley had to stop after 5 minutes because she fell out of bed! Will try again tomorrow when DH takes her to the shops. Did do a nice long walk though.

sassytheFIRST · 13/04/2012 18:24

Rubbish day today tho enjoyed it! Lunch out with some friends and burgers and salad later. Maybe even wine! Not worried tho, will do some exercise tomorrow and eat better. That said, dinner party tomorrow night...Grin

DoUntoOtters · 13/04/2012 19:14

Good day here. I am finding it relatively easy to stick to the low carbs. I do feel less bloated and 'heavy'. Now though, that bottle of wine is winking at me. Early night I think.

Supermarket tomorrow, so I'm going to meal plan for the week and hope that I will stick to it.
