puds remember muscles weigh more than fat. Plus, weighing on the wii is +-2lb. My weight was like this 2 weeks ago. I h e lost my first kilo this week. Feel really happy for it. But I hope I can continue. Keep going. You will do it. Bear

mrspepperpotty · 19/04/2012 07:01

Puds the thing I have learnt about weight loss is that, for reasons I don't understand, in the short term it is not always as simple as eat well = lose weight. Sometimes you have a really good week and put on weight / stay the same, and other times you have a bad week that isn't reflected on the scales. I think it has a lot to do with your body's hormonal cycle, water retention on the day and other "invisible" factors. BUT if you are eating the right things and you stick to it, in the longer term you WILL lose weight. Just not necessarily in a perfect downhill line. Don't give up!

Having said that I had a BAD day yesterday!! Back on the wagon today!

sassytheFIRST · 19/04/2012 07:20

Puds buy some proper scales, love. Don't have to be fancy schmancy ones, just a fiver from boots, but real scales. You may find you are heavier than you thought (yikes) but will get a true result when you weigh yourself. Wii fit scales are crap.

MABS · 19/04/2012 07:27

agree with others re wii scales, not great. I was reeealy good yesterday, then went out ystdy eve and blew it totally with pasta etc, damn damn, but had no booze. pers training this pm, so will will see how i am..

Hopefully · 19/04/2012 11:16

Have treated myself to a coffee and shortbread and now MFP says I have 36 calories left for the day. I haven't even had lunch yet! Suspect that not even St Jillian of Michael can save me today Grin

MABS · 19/04/2012 15:11

i just had a prawn salad today , but going out tonite so be be in same boat Hoepfully!

puds11 · 19/04/2012 15:41

Thanks guys, im feeling a bit better about the weight thing today, but have crippling period pains, so wont be doing any strenuous exercise today. Need to think of something to have for tea tonight. Any suggestions? (im a veggie)

I tried nigellas baked sweet potato. Cut up chunks of sweet potato, no need to peel, put in shallow tin, add a couple of cloves garlic, she added asparagus, I used mushrooms and lardons. But leave out the lardons obv. Sprinkle with sea salt. Bake for 30 mins. It was good I thought and filling.
Sympathy for the period pain though. Do pain killers work for you?

puds11 · 19/04/2012 17:02

I think i may have to giv them a try. All i want to do right now is curl up, cry and eat chocolate Sad. I know im being a baby, but this is my 3rd period in about 5 weeks!!!

Oooh Puds. Thing in the paper yesterday said that ibuprofen worked better than paracetamol for p. pain. But the main info was take both together, one of each.

puds11 · 19/04/2012 17:08

Thanks mini i think i will take some. These cramps are worse than my contractions FFS!

OP posts:
Hopefully · 19/04/2012 18:29

puds period would also account for any weight gain - it will go away after your period goes. Hope some painkillers get rid of it - ibuprofen works for me

Was awful food-wise today. I'm not even going to list everything I've eaten. On the plus side I've planned a mini-bootcamp for tomorrow, saturday and Sunday as DH is taking the DSs to MILs. Over the next 3 days I am determined to fit in:

  • 2 runs
  • 3 Shreds/Rippeds
  • 1 yoga DVD, two if I get up early enough on Sunday.
  • no unhealthy food
  • lots of pampering and foot spa/face mask type stuff to make me feel better about not eating cake Grin
puds11 · 19/04/2012 20:22

ok so i had pizza for tea Blush
Back to sensible no whiney me tomorrow. Will be having my weight watchers in the morning, then off to the gym in the afternoon!

Do we think mini-bootcamp will offset the entire bag of M&S chocolate and vanilla wafers I am currently consuming? Blush

cbmum · 19/04/2012 21:29

hopefully perhaps just enjoy the wafers then start afresh tomorrow?

I lost a staggering 0.1kilo which is in the right direction but given the past week I'm pleased it's down and not up.

mega if you can crack the food/weight thing it's certainly easier than trying to juggle it with work commitments! Thank goodness it's Thursday night and I'm finished for the week.

saffronwblue · 19/04/2012 22:02

I haven't had a great week for exercise but have been OK foodwise. I have realised what an impact my work has- being 4 days a week in an office, plus commuting in and out of the city does not leave much time for much else once I take the DC's needs into account! And the odd conversation with DH Grin.
I also seem to be having 12 people for dinner on Saturday.

Hopefully · 20/04/2012 07:09

Morning! I am one run down in my mini bootcamp and have had healthy breakfast of scrambled egg + egg whites and small piece of wholemeal toast and spinach. Am determined to be perfect food-wise while I am boot camping.

Saffron that doesn't leave a lot of time - one of the main reasons I hate working in an office is the unhealthiness if it all - the air con, the siting down all day, too many snacks within easy distance etc etc.

cbmum it's better than a 0.1kg gain, right? Smile

Planning lots of walking today as the weather seems a bit more cheerful. Also the DCs are a bit of pain at the moment, and outside is easier for everyone!

Minimammoth · 20/04/2012 08:12

I am Sad this morning. I am having a huge allergic reaction to something I ate probably yesterday. My lips are massive. Have had to take anti hystemine. May have been some home made sausage given by a friend. Lord knows what. Also weight has gone up 2 lbs in hours. Must be fluids. Am fed up.
Am impressed with your breakfast hopefully and your boot camp plans. Go for it.

DoUntoOtters · 20/04/2012 10:07

That sounds uncomfortable, Minimammoth, hope it subsides quickly. Poor you.

Boot camp sounds good, hopefully. As I'm low carbing, I thought about joining BIWI's thread, but it is very hardcore. I am lurking there though, and following a couple of posters who had the same start weight as me just to see how they do in comparison. I may do similar if I hit a plateau.

Definitely feeling trimmer today but I am only weighing once a week on Tuesdays. Should be a fairly easy weekend as we are not doing anything special. Hope the dinner goes well, saffron, have a great time.

MABS · 20/04/2012 13:59

well done re the bootcamp :) poor you Puds, i was out for dinner weds, last night and tonight too, bein very bad ..

puds11 · 20/04/2012 18:42

Are you feeling any better mammoth? Been to the gym today, so feeling a bit better. Smile

OP posts:
Hopefully · 20/04/2012 19:04

I am 205 calories under today, according to MFP, having managed L3 Ripped this evening as well as this morning's run. Now I just need to resist the urge to send DH out for chocolate when the DCs are in bed.

Well done Puds - try to drink plenty of water, it really does help deflate any period-bloat. No doubt you will be about 6lb down next week.

Hopefully · 21/04/2012 07:48

Ran this morning, so now I just need to fit in 2 Shreds and a yoga session before Sunday night.

Of course, weight was up this morning Hmm - it often goes up briefly when I really push myself with Ripped or Shred (as I did yesterday), so I'm hoping it's just that. Google suggests that muscles hold water weight when they're repairing.

DoUntoOtters · 21/04/2012 07:55

I've heard that, too Hopefully but don't know if it's true. Good luck with your bootcamp - you sound very determined.

megabored · 21/04/2012 08:37

Ate 2 packets of crisps yesterday. Oh well. Will try and limit splurges today. Have been good for 2 whole weeks. Grin
Are u measuring size too? Ie waist arms etc? That helps as u may not shed weight but as u tone up, the clothes fit better, arms get firmer and therefor thinner...
