ginger it's a great feeling when those clothes start to feel loose! Glad the weather didn't stop you doing your jubilee party. It's been ok here, quite warm and some sun so we did cycle, three hours, so I'm eating what I want tonight!

notyummy · 02/06/2012 18:21

Well done on all the positive measurements! If anything I am going slightly the other way Hmm. I do tend to fluctuate a bit though. I only get worried if it doesn't change after a couple of weeks. I aim to keep my clothes comfy and my BMI in the 21 range, where I think I look my best and can still eat cake Grin.

NMTZ today with DH. Off to London tomorrow for a couple of nights (in the rain..,) and the hotel has a gym so I will try and use that today and tomorrow. Have a good Jubilee weekend everyone.

gypsyfloss · 03/06/2012 16:56

I have decided to re-do the Shred as a change from 6w6p and my word it was quite hard work. I kept my weights at 3 kg and did Bashira's moves...it makes my shoulder creak and my knees ache This time I have measured myself so it will be interesting to see what/if any changes there are.

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend in spite of the soggy weather. Notyummy how was London?

Greedygirl · 03/06/2012 22:12

Hi everyone, I haven't posted for ages because I completely fell off the wagon but the nice weather spurred me in to start shredding again and I am so chuffed because I have just shredded for the 9th day in a row! I think exercising every day is actually easier for me than having any rest days as I just crack on with it (so far anyway!) I don't feel as though I have lost any weight and a different part of my body has been complaining every day but I feel so much better for not phoning it in! My ds pointed at a woman in GAP yesterday and said that she looked like Natalie and I realised that he meant Natalie from 30DS!

I am going to look at some of her other DVDs now as I want to keep the momentum going.

superdeeduper · 04/06/2012 10:13

I am loving this thread! It really has helped me to stay motivated and I am now definitely seeing results. Well done everyone else, it's a great feeling isn't it?

I am just about at the end of R30 L4 doing it maybe 5-6 days a week. I have also stated 6W6P although only doing this maybe 2-3 times a week. I wanted to ask what should I do when I finish R30? Should I go back and just start again trying to master the more difficult moves? Back to Shred? Or do I buy yet another Jillian DVD??? Which I seriously wouldn't mind as I think I am becoming a bit addicted.

And is anyone else finding there weight isn't shifting? I am getting results measurement wise but weight is static. Is it the whole building muscle thing? Or could I be doing something wrong? I'm combining with MFP 1200 Kcal a day. Should add I am 5ft 6 and was weighing 10st 10. Now done to 10st 6 but have been at this for the last 3 weeks. I am hoping to get down to just under the 10st mark.

Greedygirl · 05/06/2012 07:51

Superdeedooper - I am trying to avoid the scales as I feel better and more toned, went on the scales yesterday and was Shock at how much I weigh!! I think if you are doing that much exercise and your measurements are encouraging (I must start doing that), then leave the scales well alone. But I understand the lure of the scales as I always hope that I hop on and get a pleasant surprise!

Well I did Level 3 of 30DS yesterday and found it OK! I may weigh the same as a baby elephant but I am definitely getting fitter! I think I may need to combine the exercise with a little bit more healthy eating. DH pointed out that I am still eating chocolate like it is going out of fashion. I find it so hard to cut out sweet stuff. I have a meet up with some old friends soon at a spa and that is my motivation for wanting to feel/look better (not that my friends could give a hoot what I look like but I want to do it for myself) so maybe I should think about cutting out biscuits (sob) and chocoloate (sob) until then! Not wine though, I couldn't cut that out Shock.

threestepsforward · 05/06/2012 09:59

Morning all!

Superdee and Greedygirl I think I'd be horrified if I weighed myself! I don't have scales and am quite relieved. I feel a bit like notyummy, like I've creeped up a bit in size so need to rein in the eating a bit.

I can say that now the long weekend is over. We were away and I ate like a piglet Queen!

I've cut out wine for the time being, for me chocolate is the big problem!

Did a L2 Ripped yesterday and planning something else this afternoon, not sure what yet...

Hope everyone has enjoyed the long weekend. How blinkin' cold is it?! It's June ffs!

Chuck out the scales. Best thing I did in a long time, no more obsessing over why you weigh a lb more in the evening than in the morning. I measure myself once a month, and can tell by the way my clothes fit whether I need to watch out and do a bit more or cut down a bit on the food.

Super I don't know much about MFP, but 1200 cals a day sounds low for someone who is 5'6. Your body might have gone into starvation mode so the weight isn't shifting. I'd up the cals a bit to be honest. As to what to do next if you don't want to buy another DVD, you could combine levels from the ones you do have to make a longer workout. Personally I like NMTZ and BFBM as they are longer but it depends on how much time you have.

Did L3 killer this morning after having 2 days off, despite the heat having completely gone it didn't stop the poolof sweat I ended up in. Hope none of you froze over the weekend!

YouveCatToBeKittenMe · 05/06/2012 17:03

Haven't been on for ages

Have completed 6W6P. Haven't got a 6 pack though Grin was still finding it hard to keep my balance by the end of level 2 and my knees were starting to ache so I bought Ripped in 30 as I needed a change.

Am I correct in thinking that RI30 level 1 is quite easy? Or have I become incredibly fit from 6W6P? I can even do 5 or 6 proper press up before I collapse go back to the modified version, am worried thatc i will gain weight now as it's not such a strenuous workout as I have been doing for the last 3 weeks. But I have read that level 2 and 3 are hard so maybe I should make the most of my level 1 week Grin

super I have also found that my weight isn't changing much. Initially I lost a few pounds but have stopped at around 9stone. I wish I could take thisisaSignofthetime's advice and chuck out the scales but I keep weighing myself everyday. I never started out to lose weight just to get rid of the baby belly, although I wouldn't mind losing another half a stone!

Should I just go ahead and buy the other DVD's I haven't got which I think now are just NMTZ and BFBM?

Which is everyone's favourite?

I will probably work my way through all Jillian's DVD's as after doing the recommended length of time for a DVD I find I need to change or I seem to overstress certain areas and I don't want to injure myself.

Crikey that was a long post!

threestepsforward · 05/06/2012 18:21

Youvecat hello!
Yes L1 Ripped is quite a gentle intro. L2 gets a bit harder and Levels 3 and 4 she'll send you into shock Grin The cardio and strength on levels 3 and 4 is pretty hardcore. I'd definitely stick with it.

Might be an idea to combine it with another DVD, rather than just doing Ripped? (if you're worried about losing fitness).

NMTZ and BFBM are both great, but completely different. BFBM is all cardio with no weights (unless you want to add them), and NMTZ is all weights/strength with almost no cardio. I'd get them both - helpful, me!

(ooo and have you got Killer? I really like that one, would definitely recommend it...)

I don't know how I did it, but have just finished L3 and L4 Ripped back-to-back Shock Although phoned it in with weights - used between 1.5 kg and 2.5 kg - am still pretty pleased!

My project has begun to try and get rid of this extra flubber I seem to have accumulated...

Catch up with everyone tomorrow Smile

Hi all. Had a fab time in London and ate lots but also loads if walking and two visits to hotel gym so fingers crossed!! Hotel scales were kind but I am convinced that is so you eat plenty in their restaurant Wink.

L1 Ripped def v easy. Kind of like a JM tutorial I think where she is taking it easy so people learn the moves. Quite a step up from L2 onwards I think- znd I don't think there is that much change in difficulty between Ls2,3 and 4- they all have tricky bits in.

I would def get NMTZ if you don't have it. Great workout. Also try upping the weights on the workouts you have already done (you won't get bulky, it's a complete fallacy) or doing two workouts back to back. Think
I may double Shred or Ripped tomorrow, which I haven't done for a while. Suspect it will hurt!

ThisisaSignofthetimes · 05/06/2012 18:53

you've, if its a baby belly you are looking to get rid of, then ditch the scales, go on you know you want to!

Ripped 1 is pretty easy but the others are interchangeable and I think all fairly hard. I think once you have got used to do the slightly longer DVD's like 6w6p or Killer, either double up on levels from Shred or Ripped or go for both NMTZ and BFBM. They're both about 50 mins, even though NMTZ is more strength training it still elevates my heart rate. They are my favs.

Jellybellyrbest · 05/06/2012 23:43

Hi there! Reading all these posts is inspiring me! Am new to the Shred; 7 wks post natal & desperate to tone up. Have just done day 5 of the Shred & apart from the push ups & (just today) slightly leaky pelvic floors I'm not finding it too bad. I'm also walking & using an exercise bike. Will throw away my scales & measure as advised above as I'm getting a bit obsessed. Am EBF & finding it v hard not to have treats. Wanted to know; are you all watching your diets v v carefully or do I have room for manoeuvre??

ThisisaSignofthetimes · 06/06/2012 07:49

Hi jellybelly, welcome to the thread. I suspect that everyone is doing something slightly different regarding their food!
I'm not being very careful, certainly not counting calories as such but I have cut out alcohol during the week and I am watching my portion size - particularly carbs. I have found that as I have got fitter I don't want to eat junk as much anyway. I think remembering back to my days of EBF you have a bit of wriggle room as you need a few more calories anyway. I think it's good that you aren't just relying on the shred as although it's a good exercise session, its pretty short so doing the walking or cycling will give you the capacity to indulge a bit more whilst still seeing the measurements go in the right direction, glad to see you are ditching the scales by the way.

Good luck!

worldgonecrazy · 06/06/2012 13:40

I've been away a while but lurking. I finally started doing JM again, this time I went for the Shred as I found that worked quickest and best for me last time. I'm doing Level 3 and the cms are falling away (total of 17cm lost in 4 weeks with no dieting), though the weight is staying the same. I like most of my body except for my belly - does anyone else have an oblong of fat on the front of their bellies?

Still can't do sit ups - I've figured out my back doesn't bend at the bottom anymore so it's like trying to do a sit up with a straight back. Also dodgy knees mean no jumping lunges - I borrow exercises from Ripped L3/4 instead.

I'm really pushing myself to do the more difficult/higher level moves, and have added ankle weights to some moves, and do things like double-time butt kicks.

threestepsforward · 06/06/2012 16:02

Afternoon all Smile

Welcome jellybelly! I'd say give it a while and see if you're happy with things without adjusting your diet too much. You can always tweak it down the line if you don't think things are progressing. Obviously caning share bags of chocolate like me will hinder the process Grin

Wow well done with the extras (ankle weights etc.) Worldgone. I'm the same in thinking Shred was the DVD that really made a difference for me, maybe only because it was the first of hers I did though? Good idea to change bits around depending on what suits/niggles...the more DVDs we do, the bigger the choice!

Having survived all her DVDs once through, I now pick a routine on the day, depending on how lazy motivated I'm feeling. Today I think it will be Shred L3. I'm surprisingly unachy after a double-dose of Ripped yesterday Hmm

Hope everyone is doing well...

Welcome Jellybelly, I am So in awe of you being 7 wks post natal and having the ability to exercise! Especially breast feeding too!

After reading everyone's great advice I am ditching the scales and probably MFP too. I am putting all my faith in Jillian! Was feeling a bit obsessive about the scales too. I generally have been eating quite well too but I know for certain my worst thing is wine at the weekend. And there is now way I am giving it up!

Managed to do L4 R30 then straight after L1 Shred. Was struggling with the weights a bit by the time I got half way through the Shred but did finish. Felt like my arms were going to drop off! Feel really chuffed and think I am going to incorporate 2 at a time now.

(I am still going to buy NMTZ when I get paid tomorrow tho!!)

notyummy · 07/06/2012 14:51

Welcome new comers! Most impressed with the post natal shredding and also the back to back Ripped.

I did L2 Ripped yesterday and then L3 Killer. That was tough! Trying to get out for a run today.

threestepsforward · 07/06/2012 16:09

Welldone Superdee! You feel pretty good but pretty knackered after a double-dose don't you!

And good on you for ditching the scales. No more obsessing about 1/2 a pound here and there Smile

Notyummy...I don't think I could do L2 or L3 Killer back to back with anything, I find them hardest of all. Hope you managed to get out for a run...

About to do some Jillian but not sure what to do yet. Can't blame inertia on the heat any more, more's the pity!

OP posts:
ThisisaSignofthetimes · 07/06/2012 20:06

NMTZ for me yesterday, think it's going to be 6w6p tonight, plus something else but not sure what the something else will be. super well done on those scales! I'm like you I won't give up my wine at the weekend, but have managed it during week, mind you some weeks it's more difficult than others!

Greedygirl · 07/06/2012 20:45

Hi everyone. Got a couple of JM questions. Has anyone found that Shred has aggravated or caused back pain? I have been experiencing lower back pain since starting 30DS a couple of week ago. Been blaming the fact that I sometimes still carry my lump of a DS. I sometimes get a niggle if I have twisted or lifted something heavy but it usually goes away after a couple of days. Going to have to go and get a massage or something, feeling pretty uncomfortable most of the time when sat down now. Wondering if it could be those dratted plank moves! Also, can anyone actually do those sit-ups on L3 of 30DS?! If you can then I take my hat off to you. There is no way on earth that I can get from horizontal to sitting up without using my hands! So I have been doing crunchies instead but if feels like cheating.

Threestepsforward - I think it is a good idea to have a selection of DVDs to work from, must invest in some more. I am not really seeing any difference in how my clothes feel (but haven't been measuring or weighing) and I am thinking I need to up the ante a bit or eat a bit more healthily Shock!

Also I said that I found L3 of 30DS relatively OK the first time I did it. I was wrong Grin, it is horrid!

threestepsforward · 07/06/2012 21:00

Greedy I suffer on and off from lower back pain - I generally steer clear of certain ab moves (like hollow man with the legs raised, also sit ups can aggravate too) and drop my weights right down until it gets better.

If the you think the plank moves are aggravating it, do you think you're back is dipping when you do them? (I remember she keeps saying not to let it dip).

I know mine hasn't been caused my Shredding etc. as I suffered before starting JM stuff, but I do take it easy until the worst of its passes. Actually, thinking about it, I haven't suffered as much since doing her stuff. Sympathies though, back pain is awful, even that constant low ache niggly stuff Sad

Good luck with the double-dose today Thisis!

I did L3 Shred yesterday and L1 Ripped today and upped my weights - felt pleasantly tough!
