Notyummy even worse is watching them do those charayumba press-ups - it all looks so weird and wrong, like their arms are totally dislocated!

notyummy · 23/05/2012 13:49

My arms/shoulders are starting to stiffen up after my efforts this morning! Rest day tomorrow though.

Gherkinsmummy · 23/05/2012 14:31

Day 2 of Ripped in 30 and I'm aching all over the place. Yay! It is definitely a level up from the 30day shred, but I prefer it, mainly because nothing lasts longer than 30 secs so its very manageable.

gypsyfloss · 23/05/2012 14:41

L2 ripped here,a real mixture of the easy & advanced moves . Am pants at the pendulum swing thing that involves keeping your foot up - I can do the leg part or the bicep curl part but the two together . Nope. Even the dogs were laughing at me Wink

notyummy · 23/05/2012 14:48

Serving biceps and pendulum lunges? (Get me?! Grin)

I find the fact you stick your arms straight out rather than doing a bicep curl makes them MUCH harder than 'just' bicep curls. I dont find the lunge bit that hard, but my shoulders feel it by the end! I do a lot of my arm stuff with 5kg, but it takes me a lot of will power to finish them with 3kg!

YouveCatToBeKittenMe · 23/05/2012 14:52

Is Ripped fast? I really should just buy it and look for myself
Will I fall over have trouble keeping up? Is it as fast as 6W6P?

Gherkinsmummy · 23/05/2012 14:59

In awe at people using 5kgs. I mostly use 1kg weights and 3 kgs for things like deadlifts.

notyummy · 23/05/2012 15:15

Ripped not as fast as 6W6P. Lots of new exercises though!

I think I am a bit of a hard core freak Gherkins. Most people are using closer to what you are. I am 5 ft10 and 10 stone though, so not a tiny petite thing, so I always feel I should be able to do more. And I spent 7 years in the military where being screamed at by people far scary than Jillian has reset my pain threshold when it comes to exercise. Quite empowering (in a slightly terrifying way...) I am not particularly muscular, although if I tense my biceps in the classic body builder/Arnie style my arm muscles look impressive!! I rarely do that though, so don't think I look freakish Grin. Some pics on profile to prove that heavier weights don't make you look like Fatima Whitbread.

One of my best friends is a Personal Trainer and he gets sooooo annoyed by women always thinking they will bulk up if they try pushing the weights up. Apparently because we have much lower testosterone compared to men it is very, very hard to do unless you use supplements/specialised diets and literally lifting your own body weight in deadlifts.

gypsyfloss · 23/05/2012 15:55

I think it's trying to not fall over whilst doing the bicep curl is my problem! Perhaps I'll just stick to the shred and 6w6p and walking my hounds Smile

Gherkinsmummy · 23/05/2012 18:01

I know what your trainer is saying, women just don't build muscle in the same way as men. I just have fairly feeble upper body strength using free weights. On machines its very different.

gingercat12 · 23/05/2012 20:28

I thought Ripped was faster than 6W6P. Having said that I hit my knee with my weight yesterday in the effort to go faster during 6W6P.

Today is my rest day, as I forgot that I have to work till 9.30 pm. Not only that I am only wearing a short dress, taxi home tonight I think.

threestepsforward · 23/05/2012 20:30

Don't give up on Ripped gypsy!

Have you done it for long? So many of the moves, on all the levels, were a total nightmare at the beginning, but they do get easier as you get used to them. For me it's the cardio in Ripped that feels like the biggest step up from Shred.

I can't remember who it was who mentioned the ab hold too - that is a nightmare!!! For me I think it's mainly having to hold yourself up with your arms, which she's just punished doing something else!

Keep at it everyone, all lovely and busy on here Smile
Will be back on the JM wagon tomorrow...

Note to self, when cycling on a balmy evening keep your mouth shut unless you want to put yourself on a high protein diet of flying beasties. I am literally the old woman who swallowed a fly.

Happypiglet · 23/05/2012 22:02

Grin and eww ...

ThisisaSignofthetimes · 23/05/2012 22:14

It was more than eww piglet, I was hurtling downhill at the time, try to cough said beastie out, at one point I nearly steered into a stinging neetle patch, decided it was best to resign myself to the "snack", before much worse happened!

superdeeduper · 24/05/2012 07:27

Holy moly!!! Had a sneak peek of L3 Ripped last night - I start it today and wanted to see what was ahead of me. Wish I hadn't!!!! Duck walks?? Upside down push up thingys??? The woman is evil!!!
Not going to "phone this one in" though. Wish me luck everyone!

nicnacinoonoo · 24/05/2012 07:32

Hi everyone, I managed all the double time burpees on level one 6w6p at the same speed as them this morning for the first time and it didn't kill me yay! Grin

Has everyone seen that Jillian has now got an adopted 2 year old little girl and her partner has just given birth to a baby boy too.

notyummy · 24/05/2012 08:38

A yes, L3 Ripped. It is pretty tough tbh. It has my nemesis - jumping lunges - and that circuit with the downward dog press up things is tough on the upper body. Enjoy! Grin

I saw on FB that JM had a couple of children now but hadn't worked out that the newborn was with her partner. Those children had better behave or they'll be dropping down for 20 press-ups regularly!!

threestepsforward · 24/05/2012 10:14

Aw that's lovely news re her kids Smile. I think she'd be a softie as a mum, much to her disappointment!

Another beautiful day here! Will be Jillian'ing late afternoon. I'm thinking a Killer, although levels 2 and 3 absolutely wipe me out!

Have a good day everyone...

Day 3 Level One of Ripped. Its not hard, exactly, but I still find I'm dripping with sweat by the end of it! And my thighs are definitely feeling it. Saw that Jillian had become a mum - twice!

NeitherShreddedNorSmug · 24/05/2012 12:42

I've done 6W6P for three of the last four days. Not hurting all over quite as much this morning, but went out for a short run and discovered that my right leg hurt.

ginger - I'm also sporting a bruise on my knee from bashing my weight on it.

kudos to nicnac - I can't even do the regular time burpees. But will get there!

notyummy · 24/05/2012 13:59

Warning it's a DM link.

All the news about JM!

gingercat12 · 24/05/2012 14:40

Oh, bless Jillian.

I personally found Ripped terribly hard and it worked the best on me. Of course, I know that having done the Shred and Killer had a combined effect. I will go back to Ripped very soon.

Gherkinsmummy · 24/05/2012 15:43

Hurrah for the baby in its wrap sling. Interesting that Jillian has a new found appreciation for mums :) That's why I find the Shred and Ripped so brilliant. Long workouts are a thing of the past.
