ahaaaaaaaaaa here you all are....only just found you so am not going to read through whole thread. Sorry! Will just jump in to say hope everyone well Ripping & Shredding etc. Have done about 3 weeks on L4 now and still don't find that wretched cardio circuit 2 any better!

CHST · 02/03/2012 12:40

notyummy wow those weights and back to back jillian? faints maybe one day I'll be mad enough for that!!!!!

threestepsforward · 02/03/2012 16:11

Oh wow. Just did L2 Killer! Think I got quite a lot wrong, but there's a ton more plyometric(sp?) stuff and lots on one leg. I'm still puce!

It is a good DVD isn't it Venetia. Don't think I'll be venturing into L3 for quite a while though.

I know exactly what you mean about enjoying the ache from a good workout. Weirdly I didn't feel by bum being worked massively, wonder if I'll be feeling it tomorrow?!

Hope everyone else is well and has a great weekend. I'm hoping to squeeze in another Killer at some point but RL might get in the way.
x

Well done threesteps And again respect notyummy with those weights. Glad you found us chocolateshoes
Had a rest day today. And now awaiting my Chinese takeaway is wish I hadn't... I know I need to take a rest day but I miss it... How sad is that... Luckily I still slightly ache from my Weds NMTZ and L1 Ripped yesterday.
Will persuade DH to take out kids at some point tomorrow so I can do a Ripped or maybe maybe try L1 Killer!
I am actually looking forward to it. This stuff is addictive. Although sharing it all with you lot helps too!
Hope everyone has a good weekend.

chocolateshoes · 03/03/2012 10:24

Ripped done already so can feel virtuous all day. Taking DS to a birthday party later which means cake & crisps for me Smile

notyummy · 03/03/2012 13:39

L2 Shred and L3 Ripped done. Those duck walks hurt. So does that shoulder/tricep circuit.......

Happypiglet · 03/03/2012 13:43

Done Killer Buns L1. I actually enjoyed it except for that inner thigh thingy balancing on one arm...impossible!

catsareevil · 03/03/2012 17:06

I did Level 3 RI30 for the first time today. I enjoyed it, though forund some of it a bit hard on my knees (mostly the duck walk).
I thought that some of the abs exercises in L3 were a bit crazy, it has certainly moved up a notch from L2.

Can I ask where you all buy your weights from? I have a dumbell set that I use, but my heaviest weights are only 2kgs, and I would like to go a little heavier. I have been looking on-line, but not really found much, which makes me think I must be looking in the wrong place.

FiftyFootQueenie · 03/03/2012 18:19

Hello
I am usually a lurker but had to come out of hiding when I saw this thread. I tried the Shred DVD a couple of years ago, did Level 1 once and gave it away as I was in so much pain.

I have been tempted back with a double DVD of Ripped in 30 and Killer, I'm on day 4of ripped and enjoying it in a strange way. I found the first circuit of Level 1 v.hard on Day 1 but its getting easier.

I did 45 mins on the cross trainer this morning followed by Level 1 Killer and I suspect it may actually kill me if I do it again. My legs were shaking for ages afterwards.

Can anyone who is further into the Killer DVD reassure me that it will get easier? Shock

CHST · 04/03/2012 19:06

welcome FifityFootQueenie I always find the first day of each level hard, but it does get easier. I haven't done killer yet, I have it but I think I am going to do turbofire after ripped...
my tailbone is hurting after those rock and rolls on level 3...I might have to put a pillow down afterwards or maybe clenching will help Grin

jellibelli · 04/03/2012 19:16

Hi, did Ripped L3 for the first time yesterday - I think I quite enjoyed it! I will do it again tomorrow as I was running today and see if I still enjoy it then. I was nervous about the duck walks but they were ok for me I think. Something else, which escapes me now, was much worse! Will have to ensure I stay low and keep my knees in front.

Following on from a different thread I have pushed myself to use heavier weights (but still maintaining form) now, and I can definitely feel it today - hurrah, progress! yummy do you do other weight work or 'just' Jillian?

notyummy · 05/03/2012 08:37

Fiftyfoot - I think Ripped is pretty hard tbh. Interesting, I don't think as much of it is as hard from a pure strength point of view as sections of the Shred are, but there is more demanded of you from the cardio and balance aspects. That said, the pike push ups and tricep pushs both demand fair amount of strength. Like any of the JM DVDs, it will get easy, but TBH you will probably have to push through a pain barrier first....

Catsareeveil - try looking on amazon or ebay. I am fairly sure DH got our adjustable set from amazon - they do 2 kg, 5kg or 7kg depending what combination of weights you use. It can be easier to have separate weights that aren't adjustable though so you can swap between them quickly during a DVD. Again, I'm sure amazon would do a set inc 3kg and 5kg, which sounds like it would be a good step up for you. like this.

Jelli - I don't belong to a gym (and would never be able to get to one even if I did because of my lifestyle) so JM is the only weights/strength stuff that I do. I try and keep challenging myself though by gradually increasing the weight that I use, and by using a wide range of DVDs on top of running/pilates.

Managed NMTZ with DH yesterday despite hangover. Felt better for it!

worldgonecrazy · 05/03/2012 08:43

fiftyfoot keep going. Where is it hurting? Is it a muscle ache from working parts that aren't used to it, or is it more of an injury pain? If it's the former, fight through it. If it's the latter, then there are ways you can adapt the exercises. I don't do anything that involves a moving lunge as my knees can't take it. I also can't do a full sit up due to back problems. So I do what I can, and swap exercises from other levels, so I'll do military press leg extensions instead of jumping lunges. For sit ups I just do what I can and hold the position. High knees is always a good cardio-swap too.

I did Level 3 of the Shred this morning, to see how it compared to Level 4 of Ripped, I think the Shred is definitely harder but I really pushed myself during the last cardio to do the Rock Star jumps as high as possible. Only 2 more days then I'm taking a week and a bit off. Really pleased that I can get into my skinny outfit for my birthday in Paris this week.

notyummy · 05/03/2012 08:51

Meant to say 'like any JM DVD it will get easier'....not necessarily easy.

knottyhair · 05/03/2012 09:56

Lots of good stuff going on here! And congrats on the skinny outfit worldgonecrazy! Enjoy Paris not at all jealous. Haven't done anything since last Weds due to feeling a bit ropey, but did L1 Shred this morning to ease myself back in - included weights for the cardio and some of the abs stuff - still a good workout! Planning on a Ripped and a 6W6P tomorrow & Weds.

Fiftyfoot, I've done the first 2 levels of Killer and really enjoyed them. I've only done L2 twice and it was hard but in a good way Grin! Have a good day everyone x

Happypiglet · 05/03/2012 14:18

Happy birthday for later in the week worldgonecrazy! And good news about the skinny jeans!
Have done BFBM today... OMG it is still so hard. But this week only wimped out on star jumps ... So feeling chipper!
fifty foot I have only done L1 of Killer so can't reassure you on the next level! I found level one ok as there is less cardio than say a Ripped or a Shred and I find the CV stuff hardest.
My lovely DH bought me a bike on Saturday as all the DC are now riding properly and I no longer have the excuse of a young child to keep me walking! We went for a bike ride round a flat lake which was fun. So I have decided now to use the bike locally for errands and so popped to the pharmacy on it earlier hmmmmm.... My thighs did not like the hills! Good work out though and fab in the sunshine!

Jacksterbear · 05/03/2012 14:22

Have a great bday worldgonecrazy, and enjoy your outfit and feel proud of yourself!

Well done for getting back on it knotty.

Just done L2 Ripped for 1st time, enjoyed it, quite a step up from L1 - plank jacks followed by mountain climbers left my arms shaking, and I hate hate bloody squat thrusts!

Does anyone else really struggle with plank rows (renegade rows I think she calls them in Ripped) - my weights hurt my palms too much - anyone got any tips on how to position your hands/the weights, or perhaps it's just the shape/texture of my weights??

Jacksterbear · 05/03/2012 14:23

X-posted with you HP - well done for getting through BFBM and that's great re the bike!

knottyhair · 05/03/2012 14:43

Jackster, I had the same problem with those plank rows and somebody on here (sorry, I can't remember who, but thank you whoever it was Smile) recommended buying some weightlifting gloves. They have padded palms and they really help. I think I got mine on Amazon, and they were about £8-10. Happypiglet, the bike ride sounds lovely! My DP also got me a bike but I find the saddle really uncomfortable! I'd really like to get either a massive padded saddle Grin or failing that, I guess some padded cycling shorts might do the trick!

Jacksterbear · 05/03/2012 14:51

Thanks for the tip knotty I'll have a look at those! Smile

VenetiaLanyon · 05/03/2012 17:16

Oooh, I have same problem with renegade rows, so might invest in some of those gloves too - thanks Knotty.

Tried BFBM for the first time at weekend; some of the moves individually weren't too bad, but very red and tired by the end.

Back on L1 Shred with weights and modifications today; convinced myself I'd find it easier after Ripped; nope!

Arcadie · 05/03/2012 17:59

Did L3 Shred today - deffo getting easier but my my my travelling push ups may be my eternal nemesis...

Advice request again:

Had to for reasons of child care stop the DVD between the first and second reps of the third cardio circuit (ie had done jumping squats and rock stars once and was about to do the second) after about 5 mins went back to it and lo & behold was able to do it all perfectly whereas normally my "rockstars" are more like "old age pensioners"... So my question: is there any particular benefit to DoingItAllInThe20MinsAllotted or would I actually be better served having a 2 minute break between the circuits so I can do all of it with best form and maximum effort rather than limping to the end of circuit 3?

chocolateshoes · 05/03/2012 18:06

I also find that with the renegade Rows and stupidly actually have a pair of those gloves and never even thought about using them [sceptical]

Monday night is Tabata night. Can never decide if I'm glad to not be 'Ripping' or not.....at least Tabata is over quicker!

Jacksterbear · 05/03/2012 18:08

Venetia, am losing the plot, I just misread your post as you having a problem with "renegade cows"... Confused Grin

Arcadie probably someone else can advise better but I know that you are meant to keep your heartrate up so too long a break = not good... however not sure re a v short break.

threestepsforward · 06/03/2012 10:29

Grin at renegade cows!

I used to do those rows with weights that you strapped on your wrists, but I think gloves are a better option, and one of my weights burst mid-session and I was hoovering up bits of sand/grit/whatever was in them for weeks!

Well done everyone. We really are an industrious bunch!

Except for me - I haven't done anything since Friday as I have been lazy busy but have promised myself I will get back into it today. L1 Killer I think.

Have a good day all Smile
