I did my last day (this time round) of Ripped L3 this morning. Going to do day 1 L4 tomorrow and now feeling slightly nervous now.....

threestepsforward · 09/03/2012 19:35

Nah Jellibelli, you'll be fine. You will probably breeze through it and make my whining and moaning about it very embarrassing!

Sorry to hear about your DS CHST, hope all's okay with you.

Nothing for me today as I'm currently looking after my mum who had bunion surgery today. All went well thank god. I'm hoping I can still fit in some Jillian'ing but it may be more difficult. She's discovered she can Instant Message me from her bed (gah!!).

Have a great weekend all Smile

How did you get on with level 4 Jelli?

We found L4 Ripped and L3 Shred back to back v hard! Def harder than L2 Shred and L3 Ripped together, which is what we did last week. Cardio is harder, and that arm/shoulder circuit in L4 Ripped (tricep pressups znd weighted supermen) is a killer. We then did NMTZ yesterday morning after the double session on Friday, znd it's fair to say I was a bit stiff and took a whole to warm up. Am feeling slightly hungover and bloated from a weekend eating and drinking. Out for a run in the late afternoon once house guests have gone, in an effort to burn off some of the food and wine!

chocolateshoes · 11/03/2012 14:17

ouch Notyummy that is hardcore!!!! Am still doing L4 Ripped in an effort to keep up with Basheera. But I think after another week I'll have to think of a way to progress. Was wondering about adding low weights to the 'easier' cardio moves - maybe the double jump rope or the jumping jacks with kicks.

jellibelli · 11/03/2012 17:21

Thanks for asking yummy I did do L4 yesterday. For the first time in ages, while doing a level for the first time, I really felt like the new girl in class, in that I felt everyone else was just getting on with the exercise, while I was watching a trying to work out what to do. To be honest it was all a bit of a blur and I can't even remember a single exercise.... I will report back again when I have done it again, hopefully i'll remember something then!

I should run this evening as I got up too late didn't this morning but I had lunch out with DS and it is still there in my tummy and I'll be sick if I try to run now. I am not sure if it will have shifted before the light goes. If it doesn't I'll do L4 later on this evening and run tomorrow.

threestepsforward · 11/03/2012 18:53

Evening to all Smile

Well done on your endeavours Jellibelli, Chocshoes and Notyummy. Jelli my first go through something always feels a bit like that, like you're phoning it in a bit because you're not sure exactly what's going on!

Have managed to do a L4 Ripped, L3 Killer and a L1 Shred over the last few days, despite being a hands on carer full time currently, go me! My lower back has twinged, whether from Jillian or helping mum about on one leg is anyone's guess! Hopefully a night's rest will sort it but might have to take it easy over the next day or two if not.

Hello everyone.

I did my first back to back workout - did L1 and L2 os 6W6P together this morning. I managed to complete the final exercise (mountain climbers!) but was slipping all over the floor as my hands were sweaty. I then had to go and have a lie down. But I am very pleased that I did it - I very nearly gave up several times. I am not sure I would do it regularly though! It makes for rather a long workout, I think if I did back to back workouts I would do 2 shreds.

My abs know they have had a killer workout - every time I move my stomach muscles twinge!

Sparklyboots · 11/03/2012 23:25

Hello JManiacs, as I have been secretly calling you all as I lurked. I am wobbling my way through 30DS for the first time (day 6) and most mornings running, well, shuffling enthusiastically in a bid to regain my fitness. I am astounded by the hard core here, and very pleased as before I had a baby I did actually feel invincible - ran every morning, class every evening, cycled or ran everywhere to commute, got told off for being hard core, loved it, and then I had a baby and turned to jelly. He's not really a baby any more, but I am still jelly. But not so defeated that I want to go soft. I got my JM DVD having seen this thread, and thinking I could do that! Mainly I am loving JM's commentary ("Why are we doing bicep curls and lunges? Can't we just do bicep curls? NO YOU CANNOT.") and also that you have all thought ahead to when I have conquered doing every single one of her workouts, at which point I can start doing two in a row. I don't know whether to cheer or weep but I am looking forward to fitting into my superhero outfit again.

knottyhair · 12/03/2012 08:14

Hi everyone! Welcome to sparkly and any other new people I've missed - have had a stinker of a cold but starting to feel better now and looking forward to bringing Jillian back into my life tomorrow Grin. I fear she may be a shock to the system, having only managed 1 workout in the last couple of weeks... wish me luck Smile. Keep up the amazing work going on here, "you're aspirational" Grin.

notyummy · 12/03/2012 08:27

Hi Sparkly, sounds you have got just the attitude to see a big improvement in your fitness. If you have done it before you know how good it feels - but also how you have to push yourself to get there. I am fitter now than virtually any other time of my life (and the other time was when I was serving in the military, was in my mid twenties and being trained by military fitness trainers 5 days a week, plus running around on hilltops carrying rucksacs, so its hardly surprising I was pretty bloody fit.) I think I am more proud of being fit now as I have to fit it around so many other things.

Getorf - 2 6W6Ps is indeed hardcore. I have never attempted it, although I don't find L1 too bad at all, so I think I could probably finish it.....but am sure I would be dying. When DH and I did our doiuble session on Friday I was sweating so much that my elbows were skidding all over the mat by the time I got to the shoulder stands in L4 Ripped.....and it's amazing how much harder shoulder stands are towards the end of a workout, right after va load of tricep push-ups! When I do them at the beginning of L3 shred I find them pretty easy tbh....but not after 35 minutes of pain already, inc horrible 'special' push-ups Wink.

Was hungover yesterday but forced myself to go for a 5 mile run in the sunshine. Was pleased that I did it, but my quads were quite tired by the end after NMTZ the day before, and a double Shed/Ripped on Friday. Nothing today, and possibly a 6W6P tomorrow I think.

Albelino · 12/03/2012 08:57

you all sound so fit I am in absolute awe here.Very inspirational.I have spent most of my life doing little/no exercise and being overweight.18months ago I lost more that 7 stone and started to get fit.I'm determined never to go back to how I was.I'm having to miss my shred today for the first time as my shoulder and hip are hurting.I think as I do the moves better and more intensely i'm pushing my ligaments harder.I can't believe how much I'm missing the exercise today though.I'll do a Tracey Anderson abs workout later as that should rest those painful bits.Back on track tomorrow and I'm looking forward to it-please remind me I said that when I'm halfway through those squat jumps.
Thanks for all the inspiration guys!

VenetiaLanyon · 12/03/2012 09:34

Mornin' all. Smile

I tried yoga for the first time in ages last week, and have put my back out, so have done nothing for the last 3 days; hopefully back in the saddle again tomorrow. It was during the curse again; am seriously thinking of not exercising during this time now.

Am in awe of all you double-Jillianers, and am tempted to try, but don't want to injure anything else until after wedding in May (and ideally not even then, obv.), so will resist the temptation for a while...

GetOrfMoiiLand · 12/03/2012 10:50

I was dying at the end of 2 x 6W6P - I am not hardcore at all. I went straight from collapsing on my sweaty face from the mountain climbers to lying down in bed - huffing and puffing. I must admit though that I did phone in the moguls somewhat Blush Grin

I love it when she says 'no you CANNOT'. Someone made me laugh when they said in on one of the DVDs (must be one that I don't own) she says 'whose workout is this? This is not your mother's workout' or something.

I love that real exercise buzz you get - I have just got it again after years and years of unfitness. I really got into running and circuits 6 years ago, got to a great level of fitness from 6mile runs on beaches and on coastal paths. I then moved to a city, kept up the running but got terrible shin splints, I stopped running, loathed going to the gym, and gave up.

I have started Jillian DVDs now since new year, love them and have also bought an elliptical trainer (and put it in the sitting room so no excuse not to use it).

I really enjoy the workouts - what is brilliant is the fact you can see yourself improve so quickly. I never, ever thought that when I first did 6W6P L1 I would think it was easy - it completely overawed me the first time I did it, and I gave up halfway through.

Nolda · 12/03/2012 11:43

Got through my 5k on Sat with Jillian training me in my head, 'Come on, impress me!' 'We don't quit till the end" etc. I hadn't managed more than 3 runs before hand due to ds being ill for so long, so my fitness was all down to Jillian DVDs. Was very pleased to come in 2nd (there were only 15 runners in total) but didn't managed to do it in less than 30 minutes which had been my aim. Bit annoyed that what had been advertised as a flat course included two steep hills, one extremely long.

I did NMTZ today for the 2nd time ever. I remembered it as not too hard Confused. Still prefer it to BFBM though.

threestepsforward · 12/03/2012 12:42

Wow, really inspirational stuff from everyone! These double sessions going on are truly hardcore. I've done a few in my time... but not many and never such hard ones

Nolda congratulations on the run, even with the added the hills! Nice to hear Jillian went with you!

Albelino 7 stones off is fantastic, that is so impressive Smile Take it easy if the discomfort feels more injury than general ache.

Knotty glad to hear you're better and re-entering the Jillian fold!

Venetia you and me both (we continue to be in synch, even with injury!) My lower back feels very stiff and uncomfortable so may do some gentle stretching later but nothing more (unless anyone can think of a JM workout that could be done with a stiff back, not 6W6P please Grin)

Sparkleyboots welcome to the thread, loved your post! Stick with us and you will be back into your superhero outfit before long!

Hi all

Thought I would join in

I have the 30 day shred DVD, and started before Christmas, as well as doing 10,000 steps a day. Was starting to feel better, and then Christmas....well you know the rest.

It was a sign when I saw this thread, gonna start again tomorrow morning.

I too was once pretty fit before the arrival of baby, but that was 2 years ago, I am running out of excuses.

I have some health things I want to get to the bottom of, but in the meantime, this certainly won't do me any harm.

Will report back!

Happypiglet · 12/03/2012 14:16

Hello all you newbies glad to see you in the Jillian fold!
Well as predicted a BAD weekend here of many too many calories and no chance for exercise.... Driving over 600 miles in 24 hours with three kids was not fun!
So today I decided to try L2 of Ripped... Bit of a mistake. I cannot do the first CV circuit... My arms are not up to plank jacks followed by mountain climbers and repeat.... So feel I phoned that in. And I cannot do any of the abs stuff... Full sit ups with leg raises....what!! On the plus side all the strength(except crow push ups no thanks) was OK
So not a great work out today. Hopefully next time I can do it a bit better.
BFBM tomorrow already dreading it!

Jacksterbear · 12/03/2012 14:18

Welcome Duckety and well done for deciding to get back on it, look forward to hearing you've done your 1st day!

Hope everyone's injuries (3steps, Venetia, Albelino and anyone else) are healing and not troubling them too much.

Just done L2 Ripped... that plank-jack + mountain-climber circuit is a killer!

Since we are on the subject of favourite Jillian quotes, I do like "What is that smell? Is that... FAT BURNING??" from Ripped L1! Grin

(Getorf I think "this is not your mother's workout" might be from BFBM.)

Jacksterbear · 12/03/2012 14:19

HappyP x-posted with you re that hideous L2 circuit!! Grin

knottyhair · 12/03/2012 14:38

I still like "oh, are you crying? I DON'T CARE, OPEN YOUR LEGS!!"

GetOrfMoiiLand · 12/03/2012 14:38

I have not done L3 and L4 of Ripped, but is it similar to Shred in that L2 is VILE but L3 is actually all right (and a lot easier)?

Those crow press up things are bloody spiteful. My dd watched when I last did L2 ripped, and she laughed and said I needed to lift my leg higher in those climb-your-legs sit ups. I told her to shut up and join in or go away. Grin

notyummy · 12/03/2012 14:43

No, Getorf, unfortunately not IMHO. Both hard, but L4 is certainly not easier.

knottyhair · 12/03/2012 16:07

Getorf, I do find L4 a bit easier than L3. But I don't think it probably is, I think I just prefer the moves IYKWIM, so it's mentally a bit easier to get through - I think that's the reason I prefer L3 Shred to L2 as well.

FruitShootsAndHeaves · 12/03/2012 16:15

I'm onto day 6 of the 30DS today. Yesterday I managed it all the way through without stopping, although I have had to strap one of my legs up. I've started to do it in the evening as then I can have a shower and collapse get ready for bed.

I had DS2 and DD2 laughing at me joining in. DS2 is 10 and tried to use 2 x 2litre squash bottles for his weights! Grin he does it like a typical 10 year old, jumps twice as high and twice as fast furiously waggling arms and head whilst trying to hold onto non grip squash bottles. I'd laugh but I haven't the energy to do that at the same time!

Not looking forward to level 2 already after reading about it!

threestepsforward · 12/03/2012 16:47

I take issue with her statement that I would have a "sick, unbelievable, insane, ripped body" on finishing Ripped. I don't. Well a bit sick and ripped maybe, but not in the way she means...
