My other thread went poof I think (don't ask)

So I got weighed today as today is the day I face up to what I've done to myself.
My joints ache, I'm short of breath and sweaty and I have 2 outfits that fit.
Things have got to change.
Anyone up for a diet buddy/ hand holding?

Idasonions · 13/02/2012 19:13

I would love a diet buddy but dont want to air my rolls of fat in public.
I cant pm you though

TeddyMcardle · 13/02/2012 19:15

I'll join, I have gained a stone in the past month alone, feel huge and disgusted with myself.

Though it's gonna be difficult with your username, reece's are partly to blame for my exponential weight gain! Grin

HappyHippyChick · 13/02/2012 19:17

I have about 8 stone to lose :( although I'd settle for 3-4 to start with. I am only 3 weeks post birth and breastfeeding so not started anything yet but would live to give/receive some support.

JaxTellerIsMyFriend · 13/02/2012 19:20

I am low carbing, started in January, lost a stone and a bit so far, finding it not too bad.

Happy to hand hold but not happy to post my weight on a forum. Blush

Arion · 13/02/2012 19:30

I've lost 10 1/2 pounds since start of the year Grin, got another 4 stone to get into my healthy weight bracket Sad, is that overweight enough for you? Wink

Punchthosecalories · 13/02/2012 19:38

I'll join up.

I'm a shortie who is almost as wide as tall and I'm far more broad about the beam than I'd like.

I've a two year old wo is potty training and a baby who I'm still breastfeeding. I had SPD and still experience it sometimes through each pregnancy and put on what seems like half a tonne. I'm going to estimate calories each day and do an exercise worth about 2 calories a day and see how that goes. I'm hoping that would help shift it.

PeanutButterCupCake · 13/02/2012 19:39

Yay! Hi ladies Smile

ida people would be running for cover if I got my rolls out Shock

teddy I never even thought of that! Says a lot about me really Wink
I've gained some much recently due to an accident and was over weight to start with. I have around 8 stones to loose Blush

happy congrats on the birth of your DC Smile I'm here for hand holding and swearing when your ready.

jax and Arion that's great, well done

I meant I'm hugely over weight Blush

I wouldn't dare post my weight either.

What's everyone doing to loose weight?

OP posts:
PeanutButterCupCake · 13/02/2012 19:39

OP posts:
Punchthosecalories · 13/02/2012 19:41

that should read two hundred not two

I bet you'll all be thinking "What so she's planing to lift her arms over her head four times a night and that'll be it for exercise?!"

Really I'm going to do it this year. I can't cry about it anymore.

Punchthosecalories · 13/02/2012 19:43

I should probably own up to a DH who frequently brings home "bad food" and taunts me with it just to spice up that mad mix of babies and pregnancy problems.

PeanutButterCupCake · 13/02/2012 19:52

punch me too, crying and avoiding any sort of social situation.
Is DH "love feeding" you?

OP posts:
TeddyMcardle · 13/02/2012 19:59

I wake up every day full of 'I will lose weight, today's the day' then come down to a huge pile of American chocolates my boyfriend got me for my birthday, and the inevitable happens :( I just eat and eat and eat, and so much crap as well.
My skin is awful, acne, clothes don't fit..

I MUST STOP EATING!

Punchthosecalories · 13/02/2012 20:00

TBH I think he has his own comfort eating food ishoos and doesn't like to be alone in eating :( He however manages to just carry a little pouch rather than me who has "proper hips"

Punchthosecalories · 13/02/2012 20:06

Well there's only one thing for it. We have to get ourselves out of this!

I've worked out my metabolic rate which is 1600 so I'm going to aim for 1200 a day. Today I had one slice of pizza left over from what DH brought home yesterday and four cups of tea with two sugars. I have no idea how many calories that would be! It's been a rubbish day! I will start tomorrow. I'm thinking of making porridge for breakfast and dropping a sugar with a view to not taking any sugar in the future.

PeanutButterCupCake · 13/02/2012 20:06

We just need to decide how we're going to do it and do it! I am not messing about now

I'm 34 and feel 94 my joints ache and slightest exertion makes me puff.

I've done it before but didn't look at how to maintain so found it all again....not this time!

OP posts:
HappyHippyChick · 13/02/2012 21:44

I'm going to low carb. It's the best way for me, just need to read up about whether I can during breast feeding or will have to wait a bit.

JaxTellerIsMyFriend · 13/02/2012 21:52

I have found low carbing an absolute godsend. I dont 'miss' anything really. You can get the book on amazon for not much money.

I have the Idiot proof Diet and also the recipe book. It has fabulous tasting things that fill you up. I didnt do the no caffeine thing though, and I drink diet coke if I fancy it. Sometimes that sweet craving has to be fulfilled and diet coke works for me.

Good luck to those just starting and well done to those who have lost weight already this year.

PeanutButterCupCake · 13/02/2012 21:57

Day one down!!

I'm doing a VLCD (again)
Waiting for the ketosis headache Hmm

I won,t lie i miss food ,but i do not feel hungry just miss not being able to eat,but i am determined to lose this weight. It has taken nearly 1mth so far that's why i love it the results are so quickSmile.

ScarfOfSexualPreference · 13/02/2012 22:34

I'm currently on a VLCD, Slim and Save. I'll be on it for quite a while, got another 4-5st to lose (haven't decided yet, I've never been thin so I have no idea how I will feel!)

Those of you doing Cambridge or Lighter Life- do you enjoy the personal bit of the diet, I mean where you meet people for councelling or whatever? How does it all work? Mine is web-based so no idea whether I'm missing out!

PeanutButterCupCake · 13/02/2012 22:45

Hiya scar I'm doing it solo initially because if work commitments but the group is fab, to have someone whis going through exactly what you are. Also the counselling /CBT stuff helps a lot. I missed out route to management last time which is where I went wrong. Don't think I ever really accepted that I looked good and got complacent. Am trying to learn from my mistakes.
Haven't heard of slim and save. What is it?

Is Cambridge meal replacements mum I love how quick LL is, extreme though.

Monday is weigh day for me.

OP posts:
ScarfOfSexualPreference · 13/02/2012 22:58

Slim and Save is a VLCD, I've done a month so far and lost a stone. It's shakes, bars, soups, meal packs- all lovely and I'm really happy with it all so far! Very similar to SD and LL I believe, but I don't think they do the meal packs? It's cheaper too, mine works out at £30 or so a week plus veg from a list.

The only thing it misses is the personal contact, but I am a member of a forum. But this is the first ever VLCD I've done so I assumed they were all the same- you order online, then follow the plan! Then I find out others have councelling and therepy and one has medical stuff like skin treatments! So I wonder am I missing out, should I pay the extra and try something else? For the support. Would be tricky though, I work 60+ hours so I don't know when I would go.

Questions for anyone on any plan really- do you have set meetings or drop-in? Do you go to a place to meet or someones house? Is there a set time, do you meet every week on one day or something more fluid? Oh and how much does it cost, and are the products nice! Sorry for all the questions but I'm reaqlly interested!
