My other thread went poof I think (don't ask)

So I got weighed today as today is the day I face up to what I've done to myself.
My joints ache, I'm short of breath and sweaty and I have 2 outfits that fit.
Things have got to change.
Anyone up for a diet buddy/ hand holding?

I of course meant CD and LL....

PeanutButterCupCake · 13/02/2012 23:25

Can only speak of LL but yes set weekly meetings with a group. The councillor is usually flexible as I work shifts but they do encourage you to attend group as they have a set programme to look at the whys and coping mechanisms.

Everyone says its expensive but I spend more than that in food and crap.
Roughly 72 pounds per week for food packs and counselling.

The packs are ok, an acquired taste really Grin some are nice.
Once you get going its nice not to have to think off what you are going to eat.

Off to bed now, be back tommorow night.

peanut I did LL a few years ago and lost 3.5 stone. It is great, the CBT etc was very helpful, but the bottom line is this - IF you go back to your old eating habits you will gain the weight back V quickly. And it goes on in different areas from pre LL!

I have decided that low carbing is the way forward for me - and basically that is what the management programme on LL is.

Good luck, I found it easy, was very motivated when I was doing it. Smile

PeanutButterCupCake · 14/02/2012 09:50

Yup jax it's the same with any diet, " if you do what you always did, you'll get what you always got"

I lost 6 stone last time but after surgery and an accident couldn't exert use and have gained it and more!

Feel ok today, just wierd to know I won't be eating tonight, has become a bit like a hobby IYSWIM?

well done on previous weight loss. I also had an operation mid LL and had to go onto management programme as they wouldnt let me do VLCD when recovering. I still lost weight, but also lost the willpower to go back on to shakes etc.

I used to love the banana one and made it into a custard for cold days, it was like love in a mug! Grin

Many a time I would take a chilli soup with me to a restaurant and have that while everyone else scoffed 'proper' food.

HappyHippyChick · 14/02/2012 10:01

So it looks like I need to wait until baby is two months before trying any diet, to make sure my milk supply is established. I will just try to stop eating crunchies when I get bored, that will help!

PeanutButterCupCake · 14/02/2012 18:50

jax they didn't tell me I couldn't VLCD but I used it as an excuse to comfort eat, better wound healing blah blah Angry
Custard? How did you do that? They've release some new flavours am ridiculously excited! Can't bear the savoury packs.
Just done a long day at work and I hurt...looking forward to everything being easier.
What days do you get weighed? How are the losses on low carbing?

happy surely your using extra calories feeding so if you ate healthily you may loose some before you can pick your weapon of choice for weight loss Smile

Peanut yes sure but can we do hand/flab holding by PM? about to start CD

PeanutButterCupCake · 15/02/2012 15:52

Hi going sure. Have plenty of flab so grab a roll Grin
Out and about now, but feel free to PM me.

The banana drink - hot water and sachet of banana 'stuff' chucked it in blender so it was nice and frothy and pretended it was banana custard. It worked for me. Grin

I weigh myself when I feel like it - my scales are a bit dodgy so I am mostly using my clothes to gauge weight loss - and asking DH. ACtually I dont need to ask, he said last night "wow! you have lost loads of weight! You can really see it!" Grin

I usually weigh at the weekend or monday morning, after my morning poo. Blush

goingbacktowork · 16/02/2012 08:43

back now - day 1 yesterday and striggling but done now! Will pm you durng today peanut.

Punchthosecalories · 16/02/2012 09:56

Got one of those scales that tells you the body weight you've got without the fat thereby showing muscle mass. It has gone down since Monday along with my weight so I think that means I'm dieting too hard and not exercising enough. Oh pants. Must try harder

goingbacktowork · 16/02/2012 10:05

don't be so hard on yourself - big picture you are going in the right direction.

Punchthosecalories · 16/02/2012 10:11

Weight might go down but if muscle mass is also going down at the roughly the same weight then I'm going in the wrong direction as I'd be loosing my potential calorie burning ability :( I really ought to get doing some keep fit now.

PeanutButterCupCake · 16/02/2012 18:49

Evening ladies Smile

Just finished an 11 hour shift, running around all day and I am sooooo physically tired and wanting to comfort eat. I'm having a bath and dvd instead, just looking for comfort and a "treat" I guess.
Have been absolutely useless today, poor memory speech etc, doesn't help that have only managed to have one pack so far and not much to drink.
Must keep thinking of my holiday, healthier joints and not feeling embarrassed to go out.

Bought a breath spray....my breath is foul!
going how have you found today?

punch all very technical sounding, I just wanna be thin Grin

How's everyone else doing?

OP posts:
goingbacktowork · 16/02/2012 18:55

very hard - I just had some diet coke and pretty sure you are not allowed it. counsellor had no fruit flavours for drinks when she came which is a bit lame so it was water or nothing.

I have been so snappy with everyone!

re useless today, poor memory speech etc, I foudn I always had thos even when I had ful lquota of drinks.

If you are on LL do you only get 3 packs a day - I think LL and CD do seem to vary more nowadays then they did back in the day. Did you do LL last time?

goingbacktowork · 16/02/2012 18:56

Also it affected my spelling and concentration! Smile

PeanutButterCupCake · 16/02/2012 19:46

Yes did LL before.
It's 4 packs a day or 3 and a bar after the first week and just water or black tea/coffee. I struggle with that as usually drink loads of pop.
Also snappy and felt tearful a few times Hmm

OP posts:
ScarfOfSexualPreference · 16/02/2012 20:00

One thing I've found out is that on any VLCD citric acid is your enemy- so diet coke is out. However coke zero and Asda diet coke has malic acid instead! I have coke zero everyday. This isn't advice, just something I found out and will leave the info here. I also have flavoured water but only those with malic NOT citric acid. Difficult to find!

PeanutButterCupCake · 16/02/2012 20:15

It's a slippery slope for me. Am a kind of all or nothing gal Grin

OP posts:
goingbacktowork · 16/02/2012 22:18

When I did LL about 10 years ago it used to be 3 packs so they have obviosuly upped it. On CD programme I am on you can have skimmed milk which is good. CD counsellor also said coke zero used to be allowed (for the reasons Scarf said) but no longer allowed. Anyway that is day 2 DONE and I am off too be. Would love to say am blooming but feel rubbish. Night all.

PeanutButterCupCake · 16/02/2012 22:31

Night going once we're past first few days will be lots better Smile

OP posts:
goingbacktowork · 17/02/2012 09:29

in work now - how I made the walk in I do not know. Trousers still feel like they are exploding (not quite sure what I was expecting after 2 days Grin) - when they don't that will be the first benchmark. Have a good day all.

Punchthosecalories · 17/02/2012 12:19

I made a complete fool out of myself in the living room by attempting an hour of cardio boxing. Still, it's all in the name of health so I don't care what I look like doing it just now as in a few months I'll have got the hang of it and will be much more healthy :D

Punchthosecalories · 17/02/2012 12:21

goingbacktowork I know what you mean by expecting quick result after how much effort this is taking. I keep sucking in my still pregnant looking tummy to convince myself that it is indeed working.
