My other thread went poof I think (don't ask)

So I got weighed today as today is the day I face up to what I've done to myself.
My joints ache, I'm short of breath and sweaty and I have 2 outfits that fit.
Things have got to change.
Anyone up for a diet buddy/ hand holding?

Rosemary Conley is great, I lost about 2.5st on that (I was already about 1.5st down using low-gi, low fat). To be honest I never did a single recipe or followed a full day from the book, I just followed the principles and went to one or two classes a week. The support was great and the exercise really helped!

ScarfOfSexualPreference · 28/02/2012 12:57

Oh I should add, I only stopped going as a huge change in circumstances had me moving abroad so I lost the support and all the products I was using. Had to start from scratch in a new country, didn't speak the language, plus was miserable- fell off. But had I continued and not moved, I know I would have kept going and it would have got me a lot closer to goal!

JaxTellerIsMyFriend · 28/02/2012 13:47

scarf, welcome!

Yesterday was a tricky day for me - felt continually hungry, but I took my vitamins like a good girl and drank water.

Today I feel back on track.

kotinka I have a 'recipe' for peanut butter cookies. 1 cup crunchy peanut butter, 1 egg and half cup splenda - but I dont use splenda as its horrid imho.

beat the egg into the peanut butter, add splenda if using. Mash it all up and then spoon on to a baking sheet, flatten balls down and stick in oven for 10ish minutes. Voila - a biscuit!

I have to say that some of what jshm2 says is spot on, but the fat part is nonsense.

Its the carbs that are bad for us, processed carbohydrates, pasta, bread etc V bad.

FelixDaSouza · 28/02/2012 13:47

I definitely think it's one of the best classes Scarf.

I have never followed the diet to the letter either and just keep within the calories and fat allowed and it really works.

This time I just need to stick to it and never miss a class.

I can do this! Grin

ScarfOfSexualPreference · 28/02/2012 14:23

The RC rules are so simple I still try and keep to them, not always succesfully! But basically no food over 5% fat- look at fat per 100g or 100ml, really easy. Low gi so chose basmati over white rice, wholegrain over white bread.

FelixDaSouza · 28/02/2012 14:42

These are the rules I will lead my diet on from now on!

I can actually feel that joy already for next monday when i stand on the scales and the class leader announces I've lost half a stone and I am slimmer of the week!

you need to get yourself the idiot proof diet recipe book - it has a garlic bread recipe, havent tried it yet, but I can scoff cheese, meat, and lots of savoury things.

Having Indian food tonight, I can eat so much on the menu its great!

Sadly, chinese is a bit tricky.

I know what you mean about the anger part, its hard to accept that 'we' have done this to ourselves, not through greed, just through eating things on a regular basis that should be monthly treat.

The more I read about carbs the more I dont want to touch them again, but I wont ban anything as that is a sure fire way to make your body/brain crave it.

I am making beef stroganoff tonight. Cant wait, Im hungry now.

Morning Ladies. Smile How are we all doing today?

I am still managing to keep my chubby little fingers out of the biscuit box which is a relief.

I just want Monday to come now so I can get weighed to boost me on.

Kotinka it's no fun sometimes eh?

I hate thinking that I will have to watch my weight for the rest of my life and will not be able to eat all the things I want.

Makes me Sad

Then I think of all the lovely clothes I will be able to buy and how much healthier I'll feel and it picks me up again!

I don't think I could do the no carb thing though.

JaxTellerIsMyFriend · 02/03/2012 10:13

When I get fed up with eggs/steak/salad/veg I turn to my low carb recipe books, there are some fab recipes in the Idiot proof diet book, my new fave veg is celeriac, I could eat it with everything.

not had breakfast yet, but going to have scrambled eggs to fill me up before I start getting the dining room and lounge back to normality again.

me too!

This evening I left DH in charge of dinner as I had DD to drop at a sleepover and then take DS to see his friend who was v poorly in hospital... anyway, in the freezer was a curry that I had bought in Costco - spinach and paneer cheese.

Came home expecting chicken and brocolli - got this curry with brocolli and I have to say it was delicious. I really enjoyed it.

Will buy it again, but meantime I am going to try to make it. Even DH who doesnt like veggie curry much enjoyed it. RESULT!

The only thing is it takes ages to cook from frozen 70-80 minutes, so not a 'quick' meal.
